“Helena Hunting delivers a smart, funny, emotional story that grabs you from page one.”
Ilsa Madden-Mills, Wall Street Journal bestselling author

A Secret for a Secret, an all-new must read forbidden standalone romance that is sure to have you swooning from the start by New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, is available now!

Hunting-A Secret for a Secret-28672-PB-FT.jpg

From New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting comes a new romance about trading secrets, breaking the rules, and playing for keeps.

My name is Ryan Kingston, and I’m a rule follower. I’ve never been in a fistfight. I always obey the speed limit. I don’t get drunk, and I definitely don’t pick up random women at bars.

Except the night I found out that my whole existence has been a lie.

I got drunk. And picked up a stranger.

Her name was Queenie, and she was everything I’m not: reckless, impulsive, and chaotic. We did shots and traded secrets. And ended up naked at my place.

She left me a thank-you note in the morning and her panties as a parting gift. But no way to contact her.

Six weeks later I’m sitting in the first official team meeting of the season, and there she is. I neglected to mention that I’m the goalie for Seattle’s NHL team.

And Queenie? Turns out she’s the general manager’s daughter.

Excerpt:

“You think our GM got himself an assistant?”

I follow his gaze to the front of the room. Standing at the desk with her back to us, arranging papers, is a woman with wavy chestnut hair that nearly reaches her waist. “Maybe an intern?”

She’s wearing a navy dress that conforms to her very feminine form. I trace the dip of her waist and the curve of her hip, skimming down to where the hem of her dress hits the bend in her knee. Her calves are bare, athletic, and toned, and her heels boast a little bow on the back. Classy, yet sexy. “Possibly.”

“I hope the eye candy is gonna be permanent,” someone at the table behind us says, loud enough for everyone close by to hear.

“I wouldn’t mind if she helped me with my jockstrap,” one of the other guys chimes in, eliciting a loud chuckle from the rest of the table.

I glance over my shoulder and pin them with an unimpressed glare. I recognize Foley from Tampa, and Dickerson is an LA trade. They’re notorious womanizers. “Watch your mouth and have some respect. That’s someone’s daughter.”

“Take it easy, King. It’s not like we’d actually say that to her face,” Foley says.

I don’t have an opportunity to reprimand him further because the GM, Jake Masterson, and our head coach, Alex Waters, enter the room through the side door. The GM crosses over to the woman, whose back is still turned to us, and he gives her a smile that seems . . . overly warm. He leans in and squeezes her shoulder as he says something with his mouth close to her ear.

“Maybe she’s not his assistant. Maybe she’s his new girlfriend, ’cause that looks pretty damn friendly to me.” Bishop jams a sausage link into his mouth.

“Maybe,” I agree.

She turns slightly, giving me a glimpse of her profile. Her cheeks are flushed pink. I blink a couple of times, because she seems incredibly familiar.

“I think I know her,” I mumble, more to myself than to Bishop.

“Not as well as our GM does, by the look of things.”

It hits me like a puck in the chest without pads on. I do know her. Queenie. My one-night stand who bailed the next morning and left a Post-it and panties hanging from my doorknob. Destroyed panties. “Oh God.”

Did I sleep with the GM’s girlfriend? Memories come barreling into my brain, and I want to sink into the floor. My behavior that night was highly atypical. Everything about that night was. I chalked it up to the alcohol, the family drama, and the fact that she seemed to be a very eager and willing participant in our adventures. Do not think about the things you did to her.

I’d be lying if I said I haven’t thought about Queenie and our night together. I’ve even considered driving by the bar where we met, but I don’t know if she’s likely to show up there. And it’s not as if I can ask the bartender about her without looking like a creep. Besides, if she wanted me to have her number, she would’ve left it.

“Are you okay? You look like you’re about to hurl,” Bishop asks.

I cover my mouth with my palm, not because I’m going to be ill but to hide the fact that it’s hanging open and I can’t seem to close it. Although my stomach is starting to do those awful somersaults that will soon turn into full-on nausea. The kind I used to get when I’d first hit the ice for a game.

This is bad. Really bad. I’ve never had a one-night stand before. I’ve always been in committed relationships, and I prefer to get to know my bed partners before they actually get into bed with me. Teen pregnancy was pretty common where I grew up in Tennessee, because there wasn’t much else to do apart from playing sports or getting into trouble with drugs and alcohol—my brother, Gerald, went the latter route. I obviously fit into the sports category. By the time I became a teenager, my parents had finally learned their lesson. It was drilled into me to never become that kind of statistic, or to turn my girlfriend into a mom before she was ready to take on more than senior-level algebra.

Ironic how my actual mother would’ve been one of those girls had my grandparents not made the choices they had.

“King?” Bishop nudges me. “You’re staring, man.”

Jake whistles with his fingers, causing the woman beside him to cringe but then quickly school her expression into an uncertain smile. “Who’s ready for a new season?”

He’s rewarded with a chorus of cheers from the players. Waters stands off to the side, clapping enthusiastically. He generally runs all team meetings, but Jake is a hands-on GM, so he always manages first meeting intros before he hands it over to our coach.

Jake waits for everyone to settle down and take their seats before he continues. “Gentlemen, I’d like to introduce you to my personal assistant, Queenie.” He throws his arm over her shoulder and pulls her into his side.

A hot spike of anger rushes down my spine—it’s a foreign feeling. I’m usually very level headed. But not right now. It’s obvious by the way Jake and Queenie interact that there’s a relationship there. Is she a cheater? Did she make me one? There’s a definite age gap. He’s young for a GM, but he’s in his forties, and I’m pretty sure she’s in her mid twenties.

“She also happens to be my daughter, so don’t get any ideas, boys.” He somehow manages to wink and glare at the same time.

And it just went from bad to worse.

My one-night stand isn’t my GM’s girlfriend; she’s his daughter.

EXCERPT

My lips part Mia’s and I can taste a million missed moments on my tongue, a million wants, and needs. A million demands my body craves and I want to bury them all inside her. I reach up and catch the top of her blouse just above her buttons and yank, tiny buttons flying everywhere. She gasps and already I’ve unhooked the front clasp of her bra. Already, my gaze is raking over the swell of her high breasts, the pucker of her pink nipples.

“Grayson,” she whispers, and there was a time not so long ago that I thought I’d never hear my name on her lips again, at least not spoken with that raspy burn of a plea. And that’s what my name is on her lips right now: a plea.

I know what she wants, what she needs and I need. That forbidden burn of submission she has often admitted to wanting, the need in her that answers my need for control. For her, it’s the only time she allows herself to fully let go, to dare to give me that control, and fear nothing. For me, inside that control is her trusting me, her being all-in in every possible way. I’d like to say I know she is, and on most levels I do, but the bite of her leaving is fresh. Her believing I cheated is a bleeding wound, only now healing. But it is healing. That said, it’s true, absolutely fucking true, that her submitting right here in our bedroom and showing me how much she trusts me, feels urgent. It feels necessary.

Cupping her hands behind her back, I yank her to me hard and fast, her naked breasts smashed to my chest. I’m about to kiss her and turn her over and spank her when she says everything I didn’t know I needed to hear in a mere three words. “I was lost without you.” A moment later, she pushes to her toes and presses her soft lips to mine.

Just like that, she spreads a softer, sweeter emotion through me and that dark hardness only she understands submits to her. She owns me. There was a time when I might have tried to fight such an absolute need, but there was never a chance. Not with Mia.

I tear away her jacket and toss it aside, cupping her head and slanting my mouth over her mouth, drinking her in, drugging myself with that sweetness of hers that is so damn perfect. The kind of sweetness that brings a man to his knees and I’m already there. I’ve been there. Her fingers tangle in the thick strands of my hair and it’s as if we’re swept into a far, far land, in the middle of an ocean where only we exist. Where we’re drowning in each other.

It’s Mia that ends that kiss, tearing her lips from mine and reaching for my tie. Impatient, I grab it and yank it out of my collar. Another time, I’d use that tie, I’d twist it around her wrists. Five minutes ago, before her confession, before her kiss, I’d been in that place where the past year fucks with my head. A place where I’d lost her and my father. I’d have done just that. I’d have used sex to take us away, to consume us, and run from the pain. Instead, I’m here, I’m present, and I don’t want to be anywhere but here and present.

I’ve barely tossed it aside when she’s fumbling with my buttons. “Why are you not naked right now?”

“You first,” I murmur, turning her around and unzipping her skirt. She kicks off her heels and when my hands slide under the material, I slide it, and it alone since she’s still pantyless, down her hips. She steps out of it and when I might otherwise hold her here, I don’t. Not now. That’s not what I want now. She rotates to face me and just her standing there willingly naked and vulnerable is enough. I don’t care about control right now. And my need for that is a dangerous black hole I need to avoid.

Trust.

I have to give it to get it.

I have to remember that my walls created her fears.

I unbutton my shirt and then just tear my shirt over my head. I’ve barely tossed it aside and she’s pressed against me, soft and warm. She presses her lips to mine again, and the minute her tongue strokes mine, that need only she stirs inside me explodes...

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

Really enjoyed this second instalment in Grayson & Mia’s story.

Intrigue, action, heat and passion, Lisa Renee Jones packs it all into her books.

Following the events in Dirty Rich Betrayal we find out just how deep the problem goes but thankfully the Walker brothers and their guys are on the case. If I had one wee gripe it would be that everything was too neatly packaged, but I suppose after everything that they’ve gone through maybe that wasn’t a bad thing!

I’m not a huge fan of millionaire characters but LRJ is one of the few authors who write these leads where I really enjoy the stories and like the books.

Definitely read Dirty Rich Betrayal before you pick up Love Me Forever to understand Mia & Grayson’s journey to this point, it’s another great read.

A solid 4* read for me and I’m looking forward to what’s next from Ms Jones.

BLOG TOUR – Unforgettable (Cloverleigh Farms #5) by Melanie Harlow

Unforgettable - BT banner.jpg

“Holy SWOON! This is a sexy, small-town romance at its finest.”

Claire Kingsley, Amazon Top 10 Bestselling Author

Unforgettable, an all-new swoon-worthy not-to-be-missed second chance romance from USA Today bestselling author Melanie Harlow, is out now!

Unforgettable AMAZON

Back then, I had it all.

Wicked fastball. Killer instinct. Cocky grin. Full package.

(And believe me, I knew how to score.)

My senior year, I was a first round draft pick with a two-million-dollar signing bonus. Before I could even legally buy myself a beer, I made my Major League debut.

Point is, I was invincible.

Until one day I wasn’t.

After tanking my career—during the World Series, no less—the last thing I want to do is return to my hometown, where every jerk in a ball cap has an opinion about what went wrong with my arm. So when my sister drags me back to town for her wedding, I vow to get in and out of there as quickly as possible.

Then I run into April Sawyer.

In high school we were just friends, but I’d always wanted her, and I’d never forgotten her—the red hair, the incredible smile, the crazy, reckless thing we did in the back of my truck the night we said goodbye. It’s been eighteen years, but one look at her and I feel like my old self again. I can still make her laugh, she can still take me down a notch, and when the chemistry between us explodes, it’s even hotter this time around—and I don’t want it to end.

But just when I think I’m ready to let go of the past and get back in the game, life throws me a curveball I never saw coming.

Unforgettable - Teaser 5 AN.jpg

Excerpt:

“Baseball was the only thing I ever did that made my dad proud. Without it, what’s left?”

I swallowed hard. “How about the rest of your life? All the amazing things you’re going to do and be? Maybe you can’t see them yet, but I can.”

He turned around and looked at me. Took my face in his hands. “No one has ever seen me the way you do.”

I smiled. “Maybe no one ever bothered to look beyond the surface—I mean, you’re Tyler Shaw. The surface is pretty nice to look at.”

He kissed me hard then, and deep, his tongue penetrating my lips, his hands sliding into my hair. The kiss grew hotter as he moved me backward toward the bed, shoving his pants down, and lifting me onto the sheets.

“God, April,” he whispered as his mouth traveled down my throat and his hands roamed over my skin. “I want you so much. I want you so much it scares me.”

“Why?” I arched beneath his lips and tongue and teeth and palms and fingers as they moved over my body. I put my hands in his hair.

“Because I keep imagining this life with you, this life full of things I’ve never wanted before.”

“What kinds of things?” As much as I loved his dirty mouth, his sweet words were just as thrilling, and I wanted to hear them all.

“I want to share a bed with you every night. And wake up to you every morning. I want to make breakfast for you, see you in the stands at Central High baseball games, reach all the stuff in the high cupboards in the kitchen. I want to be the one you come home to.”

I smiled. “Don’t be scared. I want all those things too.”

“But what if I fuck it up?” He kissed his way up the center of my chest and braced himself above me. “What if I’m not good at it? What if I don’t deserve it?”

“Tyler.” I took his face in my hands. “You deserve it. Do you hear me? You deserve to be loved the way I’m going to love you.”

Then his mouth was crushing mine and we were pressed chest to chest, rolling sideways with our arms and legs tangled as we tried to get under each other’s skin. He left my side only for the twenty seconds it took to put a condom on, and then he was back, easing into my body. When he was buried deep, he stopped and looked down at me. “I don’t know what the second act of my life is going to look like, but I know you’re the best part of it.”

My heart, already beating hard, threatened to burst right out of my chest. “Really?”

“Yes.”

Tell me again, I wanted to say, even as his mouth possessed mine once more and he began rocking into me with deep, steady strokes. Let me hear those words again, because they meant I didn’t have to be alone anymore. They meant the risk was worth it.

They meant that finally I could say to myself . . . This is what it feels like to fall in love.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy:

Each time I finish a Cloverleigh Farms book I think “that particular couple were my favourite”…. but having just finished Unforgettable I’ve realised that each pair is very much a favourite, just for different reasons..

I’ve so been looking forward to April’s book but have been torn, as even with as much as I wanted to know her story, I wasn’t quite ready to say goodbye to the Sawyer sisters, their significant others and Cloverleigh Farms.

I read this fifth and final book in one sitting. Melanie Harlow has this ability to grab your attention, reel you in completely and not let go until you reach THE END.

April & Tyler’s story is one of second chances, love, forgiveness and understanding – both of yourself and those around you – of finding your way when you feel lost and alone, facing fears and the unknown and taking the opportunities and unexpected gifts that are sent your way, especially when you least expect them.

I adored April, such a big heart, always thinking of others and trying to work her way through some issues from her past, she’s a great character.

I loved Tyler, even though some of the things he did made me want to give him a shake, I got his fear, understood his focus and felt heart sorry that he couldn’t see himself the way April and his sister, Sadie, did..

You’re most likely gonna need tissues for this read – definitely if you’re a crier like me – as this story really tugs at the heart strings, but there’s also a lightness, happiness and love as well as a sense of hope and looking forward to new beginnings too. As always, family plays an important part in this story – of both blood and choice – we catch up with the other Sawyer sisters, their parents and meet a few great characters who are new to us.

Yeah I’m sad to see this series end but April and Tyler’s story was a fantastic way to close. I cannot wait to see what Ms Harlow has for us next.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

I adore Melanie Moreland…. her writing makes me feel good – it also makes me cry at times, smile huge, swoon, sigh hard and feel the heat between her characters… but most of all, it gives me the feels.

I loved that Linc and Sunny had a past. The heartache they both went through at the hands of others was palpable but that they could reconnect and try to see if that summer they were together could turn into a future was such a positive thing and in the grand scheme of Linc’s determination to overwrite the past it was one of the best things they could do!

As teens they were both broken in some way and gravitated to each other and that was no different in the present. They were the balm to each other’s souls, but had to much time passed since that summer, had they both changed too much?

I was engaged in their story from the get go. I so wanted things to work for them – though I could understand both of their hesitance and uncertainty.

The Summer of Us is one of my favourite reads so far this year and one I most definitely recommend you check out.

A 5* read for sure IMHO.

BOOK RELEASE & GIVEAWAY – Royally Treasured (Royal Sons MC #4) by Elle Boon

Royally Treasured

Royal Sons MC #4

by Elle Boon

Genre: Contemporary Romance MC

BLURB:

Lennox had big dreams…until one night all her hopes and dreams came crashing down, sending her running back home.

Duke is judge, jury, and executioner…when it comes to those who fall under his protection, he’ll stop at nothing to keep them safe.

Life lessons are sometimes best given with a little help…as Duke finds those responsible for hurting Lennox, he’ll make sure they pay the ultimate price with a little help from some friends. Will she be able to accept the man he is, knowing he isn’t a knight in shining armor? Lennox has been through hell, but having a
man like Duke willing to do anything to keep her safe is more than she could hope for.

Welcome to the Royal Sons, y’all. They might seem like the good guys, but they’re hot, they’re bad, they’re dirty, and they’re gonna drag you down to Hell with them, but you’ll have a smile on your face the entire time and you’ll enjoy every minute of the ride.

EXCERPT:

“I’ll always catch you, Dancer.” He put her a little away from him. There were a thousand
ways to take what he said. His eyes bore into hers as she took a step away. “No more running from me, from us. You want wings, I’ll help you find your way to fly, but I’ll be dammed if I let you soar over flames when I can take the heat and let you ride the clouds.”
Her heart flipped and tiny butterflies fluttered in her stomach at the words he’d said and
didn’t say. He wasn’t saying he wanted to clip her wings, but wanted to keep her safe. “That was, no is the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.”
He nodded. “I can do sweet. I can do dirty. What I can’t do is watch you leave again. Nine
minutes. Get going. I’ll use the bathroom down the hall. We got a lot to talk about after I talk to King.”
Lennox pressed a hand to her stomach. “Alright,” she agreed.
Duke left the bedroom, taking the air with him, or at least that’s what it felt like to her. She made quick work of using the bathroom, brushing her teeth and hair. “Holy shit, I look like something the cat dragged in,” she said to her reflection. After she swept her hair into a ponytail, swapped the pajamas for another borrowed outfit, she headed out in search of Duke.
Voices drew her to the kitchen where she found King and Duke seated at the counter while Ayesha stood at the stove, pulling out a pan from the oven. “Can I help?” she asked.
“Sure, butter some toast?” Ayesha nodded toward the counter where a toaster sat with a loaf of bread next to it.
“I offered. Why’d I get shot down?” Duke asked.
“Because you burn toast, brother,” King said.
Tiana came in, rubbing her eyes. “Mornin’, everyone. What smells so good?”
“I made eggbake,” Ayesha announced.
Lennox looked at the two baking dishes with a nice layer of melted cheese on top. “Um,
what is eggbake?” she asked.
“It’s an old family recipe where you take hash browns and layer the bottom of the pan, then
you mix eggs, shredded, or chopped ham, cheddar cheese, a little bit of salt and pepper, pour that over the hash browns, layer more cheese on top and bake covered for an hour or so. Once the eggbake is done, you uncover and let the cheese brown.”

“That sounds delicious.” She got to work popping bread into the toaster, buttering them all while feeling Duke’s eyes on her. The man made her nervous on a level she wasn’t all too sure she was ready for. Turning around with her hands full of toast, she met his intent stare, whatever her reservations might be, there was no doubt he would bulldoze right over them. And knowing her heart, mind, and body the way she did, she also knew there would be no way she would utter one protest. She’d wanted that sexy as sin biker since she’d decided Ken and Barbie should sleep in the same bed in her playhouse, only she’d named them after her and Duke. Her nipples hardened beneath his gaze, a reaction he zeroed in on if his little grin was any indication.
“You need any help, Dancer?” he asked in a smooth velvet voice.
Oh she needed help. Only the help she needed would most likely get King to do more than
bang on their door and yell. “No, I’m good. You need a refill before I sit down?” She nodded
toward his mostly empty coffee cup.
“I got it, sit down, Lennox.” Ayesha poured coffee into King’s cup then Duke’s.
They all sat down, eating like a family. Lennox couldn’t remember the last time she’d done
anything so…normal. “This is wonderful, Ayesha.” She held her fork up with the last bite of her breakfast on it.
The other woman beamed. “Thanks. I don’t mind cooking.”
“I hate it,” Tiana said. “Can I go?”
“You’re on clean up duty, ma’am.” Ayesha leaned against King as he put his arm around
her, letting him speak.
Lennox scooted her chair back. “I’ll help.”
Duke put his hand on her arm. “Sit down. T’s got it.”
She opened her mouth to argue, closing it when she recognized the warning glint in Duke’s.
Without a word, she slid back into the chair, taking a sip of her coffee. Ayesha had her lower lip inside her mouth. Clearly she too wanted to do or say something, but there was undercurrents going on that Lennox knew nothing about.
Tiana stomped to the sink, taking her plate and the others that were empty with her. She
didn’t say a word other than to sigh loudly while wiping the scraps down the garbage disposal before loading the dishwasher.
“Duke and I need to head to the clubhouse. You three can head up about forty-five minutes after us.” King made it an order more so than a recommendation.

“Sounds like a plan. What do you want to do for lunch?” Ayesha asked.
King pulled her out of the chair she was in, turning her to face him. Her legs easily moved to straddle his lap. “Mmm, I have a few requests,” he murmured.
“Ugg, really?” Tiana groaned.
Lennox stared at the young girl, worried she would get into trouble for her outburst. Her first instinct was to jump in front of Tiana, protecting her from King. “Um, I—” her words were cut off.

REVIEW – Herd That (The Valentine Boys #1) by Lani Lynn Vale

Herd That
The Valentine Boys #1
Lani Lynn Vale
Release Date: January 21

His Wranglers fit him like a glove. A really tight, leaving nothing to the imagination, glove. Codie wants nothing more than to shove that Wrangler-covered butt straight into the mud.

Ace Valentine has a smart mouth, a devil-may-care attitude and those wicked eyes aimed directly at her.

She doesn’t know what to do with that kind of attention. Especially not from the sweet-talking man that has no problem charming every woman that enters his orbit—everyone but her, at least.
Ace isn’t sure why Codie Spears had her panties in a twist when it comes to him, but every snub and insult she hurls his way brings him closer and closer to falling for her.

He’s not sure what it is about the town’s bad girl that draws his attention, but every encounter they have leaves him wanting her until there’s nothing else left to do but have her.

The only thing is, she’s been convinced by everyone around her that she’s not good enough. Tell a person that she’s a piece of trash enough times, and eventually she’ll start to believe it. It’s going to take a lot of smooth-talking and gentling on his part to get her to see that she’s worth it.

And once he has her where he wants her? Well’ she’ll make a mighty fine rancher’s wife.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

Ace Valentine and Codie Spears were as different as chalk and cheese – he was one of the towns favourite sons while she was the towns ‘bad girl’ that they all like to talk about who, in their opinion, would never amount to anything.

When they first met I thought Ace was a tad offhand but when he got his head sorted and decided to get to know Codie he was determined to not give her a chance to get away.

Codie for her part took no crap from anyone and was set on not giving Ace Valentine an inch when it came to knowing her. Of course, once he started his cowboy charm on her he started to wear her resolve down!

Neither character had had the easiest of lives growing up but both were determined to do their best to have a decent life.

This was a fun read with laugh out loud moments, the chapter headers were amusing as ever and I liked getting to know a little about the Valentine brothers that lived on the ranch with Ace.

A good start to a new series from Lani Lynn Vale and I’m looking forward to more on these cowboy brothers.

4.5*

BLOG TOUR – The Anti-Honeymoon by Bethany Michaels

THE ANTI-HONEYMOON

by Bethany Michaels

Publication Date: March 16, 2020
Genres: Adult, Entangled: Lovestruck, Contemporary, Romance, Romantic Comedy

SYNOPSIS

No groom? No Problem.

When her fiancé tries to turn their wedding into a publicity stunt, Jenna ditches the nuptials—and the groom she shouldn’t have been with in the first place—and skips straight to the honeymoon. The getaway driver, her ex-fiancé’s former business partner, Zach, is the perfect guy to help reshape her romantic newlywed itinerary into an anti-couple, anti-romance, anti-honeymoon adventure for two.

They trade couples yoga for kickboxing lessons. Five-star dining on the beach for pizza and beer at a dive bar. Forget couples massage—Jenna’s getting that tattoo she’s always wanted, and dares Zach to get one, too. And those naughty boudoir pics she took in place of romantic sunset snaps? Those aren’t going in anyone’s wedding album. Not that Zach will forget them anytime soon.

As each item on Jenna’s anti-couples list is checked off, the anti-honeymoon with Zach feels more and more like the real thing, and she wishes the list was just a little bit longer…and even steamier.

EXCERPT

“This ain’t your mama’s bingo,” Jenna said. “Unless she works in the adult film industry.”

Zach took the card from her. “On the beach,” he read. “In a boat. In the shower.” At that, he got a grin on his face and looked at Jenna. She knew exactly what he was remembering.

“I think these are sex locations,” she said. “But, on a washing machine?”

Zach looked thoughtful for a moment. “Yeah I could see that.”

There were some squares with silhouettes of people enjoying themselves in different positions, too.

“Hmmm. That one looks familiar,” Zach said, pointing to one.

“Five more minutes, lovers, and then we start. Get your bingo chips ready,” an overly animated woman said over a portable PA system from the front of the room. Some tables had been pushed aside to make room for a bingo board and a two bingo ball cages.

Jenna rolled her eyes and set the card aside. “No thanks,” she said under her breath.

“Chicken,” he asked, a naughty glint in his eye.

“Not a chance,” Jenna said. “I just don’t want to play.” She studied the menu intently trying to ignore the sexy man across the table from her, who was at that very moment imaging doing her on a washing machine. How would that even be possible?

“It’s okay.” He set down the card and picked up the menu. “I get it.”

“What do you get?”

“That. You. Are. A. Chicken.”

“Is this some sort of dare?”

“Maybe.”

“I just don’t care to share my sexual history with a roomful of strangers,” she said. “But, fine. If you want to play, I’ll play.” She didn’t even know the rules, but she was not going to let him win. “Prepare to lose.”

“We’re on the same team,” he pointed out.

“Still…”

They ordered sandwiches and drinks with an extra large order of fries to share and then the activity leader got everyone’s attention and explained the rules.

“What you have in front of you is a typical bingo board with the letters B, I, N, G and O along the top. But you’ll notice along the left side there are numbers one through five. I’ll pull a number and a letter out of the two cages. You find the corresponding spot on the board and if you have gotten lucky in that location or that position, you put a small chip on it. If you’ve accomplished the feat while here on your honeymoon, put a big chip on it. To win, you need ten chips of any size, or five large ones.”

“Does it have to be with your current partner?” someone shouted out.

“No,” the leader replied. “it can be current or past relationships.”

“Awkward,” Jenna said. “But I suppose most of the couple here have known each other longer than you and I have. They probably already know each others’ secrets and have had a lot more, uh, opportunity for the larger chips.”

“We’ll have to rely on individual contributions, then,” he said. “I hope your college years were…educational.”

“I’ll never tell,” she said, throwing him a saucy grin. But the truth was, her college years had been pretty dull compared to what the makers of the bingo cards had come up with. Some of those positions looked anatomically improbable, if not impossible.

“Here we go,” the leader chirped. “Honor system, everybody!”

Zach moved his chair so that he was sitting next to Jenna instead of across from her and put an arm around the back of her chair, resting it on her shoulders.

He smelled good. Like shower gel and hot, sexy man.

“B-3,” the woman called out.

“Shower,” Zach said. “Off to an excellent start.” He placed a big chip on that square.

“We didn’t actually have sex in the shower,” Jenna pointed out.

“But we would have. If the showers had been bigger. Foreplay definitely happened in there.”

“True.”

“I-2” the leader called.

It was one of the silhouettes. “There is not enough Yoga in the universe to make me that limber,” Jenna said.

“I’d be willing to give it a shot,” Zach said. “I can stand on one foot for quite a while if properly motivated.”

“O-1.”

“At the office,” Jenna read. “Negative for me. You?”

“Nope.”

Jenna smiled, relieved to know that Zach wasn’t the chase-the-secretary-around-the-desk type. But she already knew that.

The game went on, and eventually a couple near the front yelled “Bingo”.

Jenna and Zach’s card only had four chips total.

“That’s just sad,” Jenna said.

“I take it as a personal challenge,” Zach said, dumping the chips back onto the table. He folded the paper. “I’m keeping this for further review,” he said with a grin.

AKRA—A rare creature of myth and power…
The only thing worse than dying is being killed by those who are supposed to love and protect you, not once but twice. Thousands of years couldn’t dull the pain but it definitely sharpened Akra’s battle skills. Until she’s betrayed once again and given a new life, void of the strength she once possessed a demoness. But when fate grants her the revenge she’s been waiting an eternity to achieve, is it simply a darker destiny set in motion from the past?

BALKY—Half brother to Zeus…
Cursed from the moment he’d been created, his true origins hidden behind a hideous veneer, he did what he had to survive. Balthazar knows all about evil, inside and out as he’s forced to do his master’s bidding, controlling the beast within himself lest he becomes the monster he loathes. Until he sees a being worthy of saving, sacrificing a part of himself, knowing it would likely cost his very soul.

ICHIROU—A former demon-possessed Grim Reaper…
Locked inside his own mind, Ichirou spent his entire life possessed by a demon who only allowed him slivers of clarity. The moment a being who willing gave a piece of himself to save him, Ichirou was freed from the demon, bonding with the man who thought he was irredeemable. Together they form a blood brother bond that’s shaken to their core by one crazy female—Akra.

Excerpt

She fisted herhands, feeling her nails turning to claws. “I will go alone to seemy sister,” she announced.

Bakra stepped infront of her, making her growl. “Don’t take that tone with me,Akra. I don’t care who you were in this lifetime.” She gesturedto the space around them. “You are Akra now. We go with you. Wedidn’t protect you before, but now, we will, even if it’s fromyourself.” She pounded her fist against her own chest.

Several gruntsfollowed Bakra’s statement. Akra looked behind her to see herwarriors with their fists over their hearts. She bared her teethknowing they weren’t as impressive when they weren’t fangs.“Fine, but if you get in my way when I go to kill the little whore,I will gut you.”

“Pfft, likethat’s scary. Not,” Menka joked.

They’d hadtheir guts ripped out a time or two by different demons. Alwaysthey’d healed…it just took time and some painfilled effort to putthem back to rights. However, being on the surface of the Earth, noneof them knew what would happen should they suffer a death blow. Sheshook her head and moved around Bakra. “Don’t get dead,” shesnarled.

“Same to you,”Bakra said loud enough Akra heard her even though she’d alreadytaken several steps away. The demoness never had to yell in order forthe others to hear, her tone always seemed to carry.

By the time shemade it to where the royal family lived, she was fighting the urge tothrow up. Full night had fallen, no longer needing to keep to theshadows, although they all still worked to hide their presence tokeep from setting off alarms. She wondered if anyone had found thedead guards or not. When no shouts had been made, she wondered whyher father hadn’t made a better system, but if Turi was in charge, maybe he was too sure of himself. It was something the young Sultanwould be foolish to continue.

“Here we are,”she announced.

“You lead. Wefollow,” Bakra said unnecessarily.

Several guardswere placed around the perimeter of the structure. Akra watched theirmovements before deciding the best way to go in. She inched slowly upbehind a larger guard, wrapping her arm around his neck. “Sssh, goto sleep,” she whispered even though he had no choice as she cutoff his air supply and sent him into a slumber. With ease, she pulledhis unconscious body into a dark alcove, then she and the otherswalked into the palace she’d called home. Not much had changed inthe time she’d been gone whether it had been a year or fifty. Itall looked eerily familiar. Instead of giving her mind time towander, she marched down the hallway that led to what she assumedwould be Turi and Kumiko’s rooms, her stomach churning the closershe got.

“I said do notdisturb me,” a deep voice growled.

“You do nothave the right to tell me what I can and cannot do in my home.”

Akra paused atthe familiar voice, yet the whining tone held a note she hadn’theard. She held up her hand, stopping the others.

“Ah, that iswhere you are wrong, baishunpu,” he snarled.

Hearing Turi callher sister a whore made her smile.

“I am yourwife.” Kumiko’s voice was raised to an almost hysterical scream.

Destinies can’t be ignored. No one knows that better than Annita. For as long as she can remember, it’s been foretold she would find a dragon. A real-life dragon. She’s beginning to think it was all some kind of mistake until she’s swimming in one of the many caves around the island and discovers none other than a dragon.
