EXCERPT

I pull up in my driveway looking over at the house.  What I see pisses me off.
Here she is in a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, hat and glasses pushing a brand new lawn mower.
I make sure I check my temper before I walk over.  Right before I cross the street the little girl on the front porch stops me mid step.
She looks like just like her mother, just a smaller version.  She is sitting on a plastic little table, that they probably just bought, coloring.
I make my way over to her right when the lawn mower goes off
“I told you I would cut the grass.”  I try to sound casual, but the blood in me is boiling, it must be ninety-five degrees outsideand she’s wearing enough clothes for a trek across the frozen tundra.
She looks up “I also said I got it, and I would be doing it myself.” The little girl from the porch makes it to her mother and hides behind her, yanking on her pant leg.
The fearful look that she gives me is just like her mother’s.  I crouch down, getting eye-to-eye with her and say “Hey there, beautiful. What’s your name?” She doesn’t reply, and instead she lowers her gaze so she is looking at her feet. “I’m Jackson,” I reach out my hand, but drop it when I know she won’t take it.  I gesture behind me, as I say “I live in that house right over there.  I used to know your great grandma.”  I’m trying to draw
her into a conversation with me, but nothing I say engages her.
“It’s ok baby, you can tell him your name.  Nan used to make him cookies, so you know what that means, she must have really liked him.”  She rubs her daughters shoulder.
“I’m Lilah,” she says in barely a whisper.
“That is the most beautiful name in the whole wide world.  You’re lucky to have such a beautiful name.”  She smiles at me, right as a car back fires.
She yells and puts her hands to her ears.

Two things happen at the same time, her mother grabs her and runs toward the house, and I vow to protect them.
“Wait,” I rush after them and make it right to the door before it’s closed in my face.  I stand there inside the house and watch them rushing to the corner and hide.
Two broken girls protecting each other against some monster of the outside world.  I walk up to them “It’s ok, it’s just a car, it was nothing but a car.”
“Lilah, baby it’s ok, it’s ok.  I’m here.  It’s ok baby girl, were safe.” She is trying to comfort the little girl who is sobbing quietly in her mother arms.  “No one is here baby.”
She looks over at me, our eyes meeting for one minute before she lowers them again.
“Look it’s ok, it’s just Jackson.  There is no one here, baby.”  She rocks Lilah back and forth. Her back against the wall while she soothes her baby girl whose sobs are slowly stopping, her eyes closing.
“What can I do?”  I’m now sitting in front of her not sure how to even start to dissect this.
“Nothing, you can’t do anything for us,” she kisses Lilah’s head. “No one can.”
I ignore that last part not sure how to talk about this now.
“I’m going to go outside and finish cutting the grass, then I’m going to go pick up some food for us.  Does she like pizza?”
“Jackson, I don’t know what relationship you had with my grandmother, but I don’t need your help.  We will be fine.  Please, it’s ok, you can leave.” She rests her head on the the wall closing her eyes, the defeat of the day leaving her body.
“I’m going to go outside and finish mowing the lawn so Lilah doesn’t have to go outside anymore today.  Then I’m going to pick up pizza for myself.  You won’t have time to cook, so I’m going to pick one up for you.  I want to eat with you guys, but I’m not pushing myself on you either
after today.
Now I don’t want to fight with you or even discuss this, so just nod that you understand?”

She looks into my eyes, but nods yes.
“I can pay you for the pizza?  I have money. I don’t need a hand out,” she says while trying to push herself up to go get fucking money.
If she weren’t so scared of things I would punch the fuck out of something right now.  “I don’t want your money, now or ever.  I have no doubt you can take care of yourself.  Consider this a housewarming present.” I get up going to the door not even giving her a chance to say anything else.
“She’s never had pizza before, so can you just get us plain cheese.”
I don’t say anything afraid of what will come out of my mouth.  I nod and walk out the door, closing it quietly so as not to wake Lilah.
I close my eyes exhaling the breath that I didn’t even realize I was holding.
“She’s barely holding on while fighting for her life.  She has demons, they both do.  Whatever happened to them, it’s in there deep.  The both of them are so scared, you can practically see the fear coming off of them.”  I look over at Brenda who is on her porch watering her plants. “Tread
lightly, Jackson, or better yet walk away if you aren’t going to do anything about it.”

I don’t have a chance to respond she walks into her house closing her front door softly, leaving me fighting my own demons.

I can’t believe my coach assigned me a tutor. I’m all that on the field and between the sheets—who cares about my stupid grades? But Claire doesn’t treat me like I’m dumb. When we’re not busy fighting, she actually encourages me. And with those sexy curves of hers, I know just how to thank her.

Claire:
I hate football players, but I need the money. Jake is just as cocky and arrogant as the worst of them … but his touch sets me on fire.

I have to believe he’s different, that he won’t use me and break my heart.

Her hands tangled in my hair, pulling me closer to her. I made a noise of surprise—she almost attacked me. She was desperate for it, for me. There was something about that, something hot. She needed me. I would give her exactly what she needed.
I hated myself for giving in so easy, even as I kissed my way down her body. She moaned, and didn’t stop me when I peeled away the sheets. The sight of her, all of her, had me hard in no time. I had to be inside her. I had to be. She had to open herself to me.
I ran a hand down her body, skimming her curves, taking her in. The narrow waist. The round hips. The firm thigh and calf. Then up again. My fingers caressed her, drawing sighs from deep in her throat.
“Yes,” I whispered. “Let me make you feel good.”
She whimpered then, visibly relaxed. I had her where I wanted her, and the thought made my cock throb again.

BLP REVIEW ~ TRACY

This is the first book from Tia Lewis, and while the characters were a bit younger than others I’ve read lately, I really enjoyed the story.

I liked that there was more to Jake and he wasn’t just your atypical college jock, even though that’s how he initially came across. To an extent he didn’t ‘fit in’ when it came to the rest of his team mates but from the outside you’d think he was exactly like them.
Claire hung with the geeky group and had preconceived ideas of the kind of guy Jake was when she signed up to tutor him – not helped by the fact that she hated footballers.
She was smart, studious and hard working, he was football mad, not too interested in studying and focusing on his grades and you’d never think this pair would get along.

When the tutoring starts they definitely don’t hit it off right away, they snark and argue back and forth pretty much every time they are together but as they start to spend time together you begin to see a different side to both characters and they begin to connect – in fact, after a while they connect really well!!!

Outside factors in the shape of family and friends and things that happened in the past give you insight into what has shaped both Jake and Claire. Initially, both main characters were quite unkind in what was thought and said before they got to know each other – it has to be said that their friends were worse, to the point it seemed quite cruel on occasion, even though we discover that there are possibly other reasons for the negativity and dislike….
I really enjoy a dual POV and finding out what makes each character tick…. Through the story both Jake and Claire develop and they begin to look at the other in a different light.

I liked Jake’s coach and how he, along with Claire after a while, knew there was more to Jake than he believed and that they cared enough to make him see it for himself.

I would have liked an epilogue to see how things worked but that’s my only issue to be honest.
A well written, enjoyable story (when I didn’t want to smack one or three of the characters!!) I’m looking forward to reading more books from Tia soon.

Excerpt

A few minutes later my phone vibrated on the table, and I read a text message that sent shivers down my body. I want you, Claire. I’ll make you beg. I’ll fuck you until you can’t feel your legs. Whisper in your ear to come for me while you dig your nails into my back.

“Oh my God,” I blushed uncontrollably as his hand made its way back onto my legs. “Jake, stop!”

“Do you really want me to?” he whispered, moving steadily upward. “Tell me you really want me to, and I will.”

I should have. I knew that I should have. I should have made Jake stop. We were in the library, for crying
out loud. People studied there. And we weren’t alone.

I looked around. I didn’t see any cameras. At the same time, that sneaky hand reached the inside of my thigh. I gasped, closing my eyes.

“I’ll stop. I will.” His hand disappeared up my skirt.

I opened my legs slightly, aching for his touch.

“Hmm,” he whispered, “I think you want me to keep going.”

I drew myself a bath when I got back. I’d finished off more than a few long, crazy work days with a nice, long soak in a tub. But tonight, the bath didn’t settle me down. I had a different current pulsing through me, and it had nothing to do with the typical reasons. Tonight, I was all fired up and raring to go, but it wasn’t because my mind was racing with unreturned calls or memos I needed to draw up and send before sleep.

It was Heath. The way it felt to stand next to him, his huge presence, the heat radiating off of his body. He’d worn a simple long sleeved waffle shirt, nothing trendy or showy, but the way it fit him. The rounded muscles of his shoulders stretching the cotton, the definition of his pecs. I hadn’t even seen him with his shirt off. It wasn’t fair to tease a woman like that.

One hand drifted lazily down my body in the warm water. I closed my eyes and let myself sink into the fantasy, imagine if the night had gone differently. Imagine if he appeared at my door, every giant, glowering inch of him, and backed me up against a wall in seconds flat. He’s press me there, trap my hands up over my head.

Maybe I’d just have emerged from the bath, all pink and rosy and naked under my towel. Then there’d be nothing between us, towel on the floor, he’d spread my thighs and touch me with his thick, rough fingers. He liked talking dirty to me, coaxing it out of me, making me tell him how much I wanted it.

Inferno Glory MC: The Complete Series
 by JA Fredericks

Inferno Glory MC

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Blurb:

The entire Inferno Glory MC series in paperback (Leather & Lace, Pleasure & Pain, Torture & Agony, Death & Rage, Revenge & Love).

The day Harley Sonnick is released from a three year prison sentence for a crime she didn’t willingly commit, she returns to the only family she has left—the Inferno Glory MC. But the club’s president isn’t ready to forgive her for past sins and turns her away, forcing her to trust in a new club member who’s arguably the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on.

Colt Sawyer, a young military veteran like the other MC members, is elusive and doesn’t have much to do with the women throwing themselves at him until Harley comes riding into his life on her own motorcycle. Together with his best friend and fellow MC member Ranger, Colt will do everything in his power to remind Harley what it’s like to be pleasured by a man and make her feel at home despite the reluctance of the MC.

Things take an unexpected turn when Harley’s worldly possessions are ripped away, forcing her to rethink her future. But she isn’t a pathetic princess in need of saving and is reluctant to accept help. Prison made her hard, forcing her to guard her feelings at all costs. So when dark, blue eyed Colt does inexplicable things to both her body and heart, she’s forced down a dark path of passion and desire that threatens all the safeguards she’s set in place.

Forgiveness in the MC doesn’t come easy…

They say you can never go home again, but I was out to prove them wrong. After a three year absence from the only home I have ever known, the Inferno Glory MC was not welcoming me back with open arms.

Until Colt Sawyer sweeps me off my bike, makes me feel like a woman again, and shows me pleasures I have never dreamed of.

Colt thinks he can save me, but I am not the MC darling everyone remembers me as, and no amount of scorching hot sex or whispering sweet nothings in my ear will change my hardened exterior.

Or at least that is what I thought.

He’s offering me passion, forgiveness and protection. And once secrets start being revealed, the protection he provides me may be the only reason I survive the Inferno Glory MC.

Warning: This story involves steamy sex with multiple partners and tattooed alpha bikers. If you’re looking for a hot and dirty ride, this is your book.

Excerpt

“Yeah, well, now that Knox is back in town, we’re gonna have to find him a steady girl,” Cassie says, furrowing her brow as if she’s scanning her mental rolodex.

“Yeah, between the two of us we know plenty of girls who are still single.” Savannah pulls her phone out, ready to start scrolling through her contacts.

Cash laughs. “Don’t hold your breath, ladies. The local diamond dolls are gonna be all over our boy here. Let him enjoy it before you start trying to chain him down.”

Groupies. I’ve gotta admit—the routine gets old, but the eye candy never fails to tempt me. Like I said, you only live once. “Hey, the last girl I hooked up with didn’t even know who I was,” I can’t help pointing out.

Ryder laughs. “Is that what she told you?”

I roll my eyes.

“Did you find her hidden under a rock, then? I hear those cloistered nuns are hot.” Cash grins at me, that old twinkle in his eye. He’d never mess around on Savannah, but I swear that’s made him worse than ever about hounding me to go hook up in his place.

“Actually, I met her right here in this fine establishment of ours.”

“Nice. Hooking up in the library—exactly what we had in mind,” Cash says with more than a little enthusiasm.

“You say that like we haven’t already,” Savannah butts in with a pointed eyebrow, which earns her a high-five from Cassie.

“Hey don’t change the subject,” Ryder interrupts. “You’ve been holding out on us, bro. When was this? And who, someone from school?”
“New Year’s. And nope. Never seen her before in my life. Or since, for that matter.”

It may not have been the first time a New Year’s countdown and a whole bunch of booze ended with a girl screaming my name, but this time was different. For one thing, this time I was sober enough that my memory of the way she felt beneath me in that baseball field is still seared red-hot into my brain. The number of times I’ve relived that night, her hands all over me, her breathing heavy as she urged my fingers closer to her soaking panties . . .

“So that’s where you disappeared that night, you dirty dog!” Cash punches my arm across the table.

Savannah laughs and tops off her and Cash’s glasses of bubbly with the last of the champagne. “Anybody you care to see again?”

Yeah, you could definitely say that. If I knew how to find her, that is.

“Would if I could,” I admit. “But she was a one-and-done kinda girl. Said no when I asked for her digits.”

“Oooooh,” Ryder says. “Love ‘em and leave ‘em. The very best kind.”

Cassie punches him in the arm and steals his drink out from under him. “A mystery woman, nice. What did she look like? Maybe she’s a regular.”

I open my mouth to describe her—long brown hair, huge, sexy, deep brown eyes, a sway in her step when she walks, a gravelly voice when she’s coming—okay maybe I wouldn’t have added that last part. But right as I’m about to start speaking, a knee collides with me from behind.

I manage to keep from dropping my scotch, though just barely. I’m about to spin around and bark a curse at whoever just staggered into me, when Jackson, who’s been oddly quiet so far, stiffens. “Oh, hey,” he says, looking not at me, but above and behind me.

Everyone’s eyes follow his, and I turn around to find myself staring up at a familiar face.

“What, that’s your only greeting to your beloved little sister?”

There, standing behind me, close enough to touch, close enough that I can smell the familiar floral bite of her perfume, is my not-so-mysterious-after-all New Year’s hookup. Grinning sarcastically while looking straight at Jackson.

Little sister? Jackson’s younger sister is my mysterious New Year’s hookup?

Fuck.

You have got to be kidding me.

a mess of a man couple in bed

A-Mess-of-a-Man-Excerpt

There is finality to the sound of the door closing behind her. A sort of tormenting peace knowing the end has come. It’s not like I should have expected things to go on this way for long. How could they?

I stare holes in the walls as if I can still see her, the one woman I let in.

Sweeter than peach cobbler, she hardly has a bad thing to say about anybody—until now. Her parting description of me, beginning with ass and ending with hole, reverberates through my hollow heart, as I stand here rooted to my spot. I’m not even shocked, as this isn’t the first time I’ve been on the receiving end of that sentiment. I’m only surprised because I don’t think I’ve ever heard her so much as mutter a single curse word before. And the first time I do, it’s aimed squarely at me.

My hands tighten around a tumbler filled with amber liquid before I toss back its contents hoping for oblivion or something close to it. This road is so familiar. Only this time is different. I never cared like I do now. She means more to me than a quick fuck. Hadn’t I been about to tell her just that? How could things have gone wrong so fast?

Don’t be a dumbass. You can still fix this.

Instead, I stubbornly stay embedded to my spot because nothing can change the outcome. It’s a truth she and I know will haunt me until my last breath. And it’s created a wall between us I’m unable to climb … even if you gave me a damn ladder.

I’ve never been much of a risk-taker when it comes to matters of the heart. I can fill a bank account with a number having many zeros behind it from my astute choices in the market. But I can’t be a man a woman stays with. Hadn’t I warned her about that too?

Unable to see past my own shitty existence, I long for her to come back. I want to believe it’s all been some kind of mistake and I can forget what I know to be true. As the seconds continue to tick by, the inevitability that things are really over sinks in. My window of opportunity quickly closes as fast as her car door slams and the engine fires to life.

She’s so close, yet miles away. The longer I let the minutes expand between us I know distance won’t make the heart grow fonder. But maybe it’s for the best. Love, or whatever masquerades as it, just isn’t enough for the dirty, fucked up truth. Right when things were better than I ever expected, facts messed it up.

Groaning, I launch the crystal glass worth a small fortune at the door I can’t seem to force myself towards. A beautiful show of light plays off the shards as they cascade down in an explosion of fireworks. Visually, it’s what I feel inside as desolation constricts and then obliterates my chest because the best thing I ever had is gone … leaving me with only the certainty I’m meant to be with her.

I love you, I whisper for the first time and in place of goodbye. She left me and will never hear it. I can only pray we both survive what’s to come.

A.M. Hargrove:

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, USA Today bestselling author, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn’t do something soon, it would be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So she made a quick decision to quit her job and reinvented herself as a Naughty and Nice Romance Author.

She fancies herself all of the following: Reader, Writer, Dark Chocolate Lover, Ice Cream Worshipper, Coffee Drinker (swears the coffee, chocolate, and ice cream should be added as part of the USDA food groups), Lover of Grey Goose (and an extra dirty martini), #WalterThePuppy Lover, and if you’re ever around her for more than five minutes, you’ll find out she’s a non-stop talker.

Terri E. Laine:

Terri E. Laine, USA Today bestselling author, left a lucrative career as a CPA to pursue her love for writing. Outside of her roles as a wife and mother of three, she’s always been a dreamer and as such became an avid reader at a young age.

In her early years, she and her best friend would tell each other stories over the phone when they were bored. They called them their “soap operas” and generally revolved around whatever boy they liked at the time.

Many years later, she got a crazy idea to write a novel and set out to try to publish it. With over a dozen titles published under various pen names, the rest is history. Her journey has been a blessing, and a dream realized. She looks forward to many more memories to come.
