Wicked Wedding, an all-new sexy standalone novel, from New York Times and USA Today
bestselling author Sawyer Bennett is available NOW!

WickedWeddingCoverBW

It all started with a wedding…

Well, three weddings, to be exact. The one that happened, the one that went up in flames, and the one nobody saw coming.

Andrew Collings has seen a lot of things living in Vegas. Hell, he’s done a lot of things. But one thing he’s never witnessed is a beautiful brunette, hitchhiking her way into the city, wearing a wedding dress. Until now, that is.

Brynne Adams is running away from a broken heart. She expected a lot of things from her wedding day but finding photos of her fiancé and maid of honor and best man in a compromising position wasn’t one of them. She most certainly never imagined that she’d end up marrying the handsome stranger that rescued her from the side of the road that day.

Andrew and Brynne’s quick nuptials may have been the result of a drunken joke, but they soon realize that love can be found in the most unlikely of places if you just stop and take a chance.

* Wicked Wedding is the fourth STANDALONE NOVEL in the LEFT AT THE ALTAR series in a collaboration of six New York Times Bestselling Authors: J. S. Scott, Ruth Cardello, Raine Miller, Sawyer Bennett, Minx Malone, and Melody Anne.

Excerpt:

“Let me prop the door open and I’ll carry you over the threshold,” I tell Brynne as I press the keycard against the magnetic reader.

She giggles, a sound I normally find grating on a grown woman, but on Brynne it’s charming. Her cheeks are flushed, and her eyes are still sparkling with energy.“Well, you are very Thor-like, so a girl would be crazy to refuse to be carried over the threshold by her husband.”

That’s right. I’m her husband, but let’s rewind just a bit to detail how this all went down.

It took me exactly fifteen minutes and three phone calls to set things up, just as I promised her.

The first call was to the nicest, swankiest Vegas chapel that I could find with a Google search. I was advised we’d have to obtain a license at the Las Vegas Marriage Bureau for the low price of seventy-five dollars, and I wasn’t surprised in the least to learn it was open twenty-four hours a day on the weekends. I was able to arrange a limousine to pick us up, as well as an explosion of flowers within the chapel itself. When I gave my credit card number to the woman, I told her to go crazy on decor, but I specifically requested white calla lilies for the bride bouquet because Brynne told me those were her favorites.

The second call was to a jeweler where I was able to purchase two very simple wedding bands in gold. It’s a detail I probably could have ignored considering we both knew this was just for fun, but fuck it. I’m rich, which means I have the ability to make this as nice as I can for Brynne.

The third call was to my attorney, who explained annulment laws and assured me it was a fairly straightforward process. I’d have to institute the action—called a complaint—and if Brynne waives service, we can present our annulment request to the court to be approved after twenty days. It wasn’t immediate, but twenty days was nothing in the grand scheme of things.

By the time we took a limo to the marriage bureau, stood in line for about thirty minutes with other like minded folks, and then made our way to the chapel, we’d sobered up quite a bit.

“You sure you want to do this?” she asked me just before we went in.“I mean… it was a fun notion when we were a little more buzzed.”

“Hell yes,” I’d told her with a devilish grin.“Mostly so we can send a picture to the whore and the asshole.”

Her laugh was sparkling and beautiful and just a little evil, which made her infinitely more attractive to me.“It’s all in good fun with no risk,” I’d added on to assure her.

So we went in, both of us grinning like fools during the ceremony. It felt fake, because it was fake, but in some respects, it’s the most real thing I’ve ever done. Because what we were doing had real purpose. It was to give Brynne and her glorious wedding dress a moment to shine.

It became even more real when the minister—who was not dressed like Elvis, but was very dapper in a dark gray suit with an old-fashioned cravat tied at his neck—told us in a very cultured voice,“You may kiss the bride.”

Fuck.

I hadn’t thought about the kiss.

I mean, I’d thought of kissing her because she’s sexy and vibrant and smiling despite the fact she was shit on hard today. But I hadn’t thought about the“wedding kiss”. Because even though this is all fake, somehow a man giving us formal permission to put our mouths together to seal our marriage vows makes it very fucking real.

There was no hesitation. When my lips touched hers and she gave a tiny huff of pleasure, I realized I wanted to consummate this fake marriage very badly.

I did not, however, know if Brynne felt the same. Because today would probably go down as the worst and weirdest of her life, I wasn’t going to push. Instead, I took her out for a radically expensive late dinner and then we hit a popular jazz club where we listened to music.

And then it happened.

A slow song was played. A bluesy number people just sort of sway to, and I asked her to dance with me.

She accepted.

It was Brynne who kissed me. Slid her delicate fingers into my hair, went to her tiptoes in her gray tennis shoes with teal-blue accents, and pressed her mouth to mine. My mind reeled, and my cock started to twitch to attention as we swayed and kissed. The words were forming in my mind on how best to invite her into my bed without sounding like an opportunistic douche, but then it didn’t matter.

She pulled her mouth from mine, relaxing and tipping her head back to see me.“If we have sex tonight, does that ruin our chances of getting an annulment?”

I had no fucking clue what the answer was. It had never crossed my mind I might actually get the chance to fuck her, so I didn’t ask my attorney.

“Not that I know of,” I hedge. At least I didn’t flat-out lie to her.

“Good,” she said with a smile.“Let’s go to my hotel room.”

EXCERPT

Matthew finished the last bit of his sandwich as he stood up going over to a wall of glass that overlaid the actual wall. The glass was one large computer interface, much like most of the glass in the building from the table they were eating on to elevator walls, to all the glass panel monitors of various sizes. Matt tapped on the panel bringing up several windows and enlarging them so that everyone could see. He pulled a photo of Kollin Olsen and moved it to the center.

He reached back, grabbing his bottle of water. Swallowing a mouthful, he cleared his throat and started his report. “I finished my preliminary research into KleanTech and Global Gas. You’ll never believe who Kollin Olsen is.” Danica was completely occupied with a large mouthful of her sandwich and gestured for him to continue. “He’s the next alpha to the Norwegian Dragon Clan, son of none other than Hafthór Ormsson, making him Jǫkull Ormsson, The Glacier himself.”

“Fuck!” Danica thought, looking over at Xander, who could hear her thought clearly.

“Fuck is right,” he answered out loud.

Danica took another bite of her sandwich and looked around the table at the family she had created, mulling over that bombshell. Matt, thankfully, let her take her time and waited silently while she came to terms with that disturbing news.

These SLIPs who stood by her, supported her, and loved her were, for the lack of a better word, her pack as motley as they were. They were hers to protect as much as they protected her. She thought about that as she continued to eat. Xander placed a hand on her thigh and squeezed it reassuringly. If she took this job, she risked exposure of what she was. With that, she risked not just her life, but all of their lives.

Excerpt:

He’s tall, lean, and muscular in track pants and a long-sleeved tee underneath a glow-in-the-dark skeleton-adorned apron. Jet-black hair, mussed across his forehead. Even under the darkening sky, I can tell he has deep olive-toned skin. His eyes, I’m not quite sure. Maybe dark.

I feel my feet walking toward the object of my desire, but suddenly halt them.

Whoa, horsie.

For a second, my brain kicks in and I take stock of my disheveled appearance. This isn’t how I want to meet the man I’ve internet-stalked for a week. The man my brother-in-law wants to emulate, supposedly to win the heart of an overeager preschool teacher. The man who grills shirtless and does it oh-so-well. Just yesterday, he made rosemary-and-thyme veal chops. I don’t believe in eating veal, have never even tried it, and I was salivating over my laptop.

Reid, Grill and Groom, whatever his last name is, doesn’t hide behind the anonymity of his laptop. Nope, he’s right out on the wild, wild web for anyone to see.

This man is everything I’m not. He writes a successful blog, puts his name out there. And now he’s standing a few feet from me, joking with my daughter and her friend like he has nothing better to do and all the time in the world to do it.

“Mom! Can we have two?”

“Ms. Andi, this guy said we could have two big bars! Can we?”

“Hey there . . .”

Three voices call to me, but I’m stuck in Reidville, the small town that had only just begun to grow in my mind. Not the real, live man currently calling out, “Hey there,” to me.

“Mom!” Gabby shouts, finally dragging me out of a dense mental fog.

“Um, are you sure?” I holler from where I’m standing, because there’s no way in hell I’m allowing myself to move any closer to the door.

“It’s no prob. Evening’s almost over, and I don’t want to be stuck with all this leftover candy,” Reid yells back.

He’s tall. I’m guessing six foot two or three based on the way he towers over the girls and his head almost meets the top of the door frame.

“Make sure to say thanks,” I tell the girls, my voice squeaking, the stupid crumpled coffee cup dangling in my hand.

“Would you like one?”

Reid, Reid, Reid, just let me get out of here alive with my limbs attached and my lungs still pumping air in and out.

But no, he can’t. The girls sing, “Thank you,” and he’s following them out to me, candy basket in hand.

I fight the urge to sniff under my pits again, but I can’t seem to stop my free hand from smoothing down the front of my shirt and gathering my cardigan tight across my belly. It’s flatter than most, but still—I’ve had a baby.

“Would you like one? To go with your coffee?” He’s dead center now, right in front of me, wearing flip-flops despite the chilly nighttime air, holding the basket with his strong hands I’ve seen pictured on the blog, working the grill.

I’m not gonna lie. I’ve fantasized about those hands working me . . . just about everywhere. Okay, everywhere.

I admit it. I ended up perusing this guy’s site more than I care to say.

Green. His eyes are dark green, deep like the forest, clear like the sea, inviting like a patch of moss.

A frog settles in my throat, and I can’t make a sound for fear it will alas be a croak.

I shake my head and clear my throat, banishing the toad. “Tempting, but no thanks.”

“Actually, I really do have apples, if that’s more appealing.” He cocks an eyebrow at me, light from the rising moon twinkling in his eyes.

Reid, Reid, Reid, go back to your grill.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

If I could, I’d give this smashing read a helluva lot more stars!!!!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I adored Andi Schwartz and Reid Fellows… they were perfect for each other.

Andi’s blog posts, while cutting and poking fun most of the time, were really funny. Even though this wasn’t the type of thing that she started out planning to do, an incident caused a shift in Andi’s views on bloggers and those who thought they were better than everyone else. As a single mum, she was doing her best to give her daughter Gabby a good, stable life in whatever way she could. Her blogger name The UnAffectionate Blogger couldn’t have been further from the type of person Andi truly was.

Reid fell into blogging on a bet but had grown to enjoy what he did, even if the college he worked for didn’t quite agree with his enthusiasm for Grill & Groom. He was a great character, open, honest and attracted to Andi from their first meeting – and he was soooooo fantastic with Gabby!

I loved their interactions, the dual POV to see what each was truly feeling so that you knew if and when something went wrong between this pair it was gonna cut deep!
Gods, the addition of Gabby and Leona (Andi’s well intentioned, interfering but in a good way, neighbour), Andi’s sister and her husband all added to the fun and craziness that this story had at times.

This read had it all; Rachel Blaufeld most certainly gave us emotion, attraction, heat, a little heartache (without being heavy) humour and a whole lot of feels! The other thing I really liked about this read is that the author obviously knew what she was talking about when she was writing about the blogs (both the good and the bad), which all added to the realism on that side of the story.

As I hinted at the start of this review, 5* really doesn’t do Hot for His Girl justice!!

RELEASE BLITZ ~ Talkin’ Trash (Bear Bottom Guardians #2) by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Talkin’ Trash
Series: Bear Bottom Guardians MC Book 2
Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: October 5, 2018
Cover Design: Cover Me Darling, LLC

Linc has two very important things on his mind—professional football and his motorcycle club.
What he does not have on his mind is the woman that drives him crazy and makes him want to do stupid things, like throw caution to the wind.
Nope, not Linc.
At least, that’s the lie he tells everyone.
In reality, every time Conleigh’s name is mentioned, he squirms.
She’s everything that he wants, wrapped up in a cute little package that is stamped ‘hands freakin’ off.’
She’s four years younger than him, in school to be a doctor, and thinks football is stupid.
Even more, Linc and Conleigh get along like oil and water.
There’s not a single second that they’re in each other’s presence that they’re not at each other’s throats.
But all it takes is hearing that she’s in trouble for Linc to drop every single thing—football and MC duties alike—and head to her side.

A side that he’ll remain at until they either kill each other, or finally give into the heat between them.

Either way you look at it, he’s well and truly screwed.

Another book from Lani Lynn Vale that I read pretty much without pause….. the lady has me addicted to her guys and their gals!

Linc and Conleigh were fab together. There’s always been that attraction and spark between them and even though she thought Linc wasn’t interested, that couldn’t have been further from the truth…. At last he’s decided his wait is over and he sets out to win his Conleigh for good.

We met link previously in Rome’s book and from that you got the vibe that he was a good guy, and boy was he ever. He was so great to and for Conleigh, regardless of how much it hurt him to do what was best for her.
Conleigh drove me a little cray at times…. for someone who knew Linc as well as she did, her reaction and following behaviour when the crap hit the fan and then her further reaction when she found out the whole truth p’d me off just a smidge…

Hot, funny, action packed with all the character cameos we’ve come to expect from Lani, this was a great read that is a good addition to the Bear Bottom Guardians series and I’m looking forward to more!

I’m giving Talkin’ Trash 4*

Megan Matthews – Room 29

I enjoyed Room 419; A Gift from Drunk Me – I haven’t read any of the other Last Resort Motel books but I’ll definitely be looking into them.

Ann Mayburn gave us a great wee read about Ivy and Deacon, I was surprised that the gap was only about seven years while I expected him to be a little older still (which would not have been an issue in the slightest) .
I liked both Deacon and Ivy – I especially liked ‘drunk’ Ivy and her crazy messages! 🙂
Deacon was a good guy, who bided his time and fought for his girl.

One of my bug bears in stories is miscommunication but in Room 419 I think it was used well as a plot device and I liked that things were wrapped up quickly, with no confusion and no major drama.

A quick 3.75* read that I’d more than happily recommend.

~ Tracy

With over fifty published books, Ann is Queen of the Castle to her wonderful husband and three sons in the mountains of West Virginia. In her past lives she’s been an Import Broker, a Communications Specialist, a US Navy Civilian Contractor, a Bartender/Waitress, and an actor at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She also spent a summer touring with the Grateful Dead-though she will deny to her children that it ever happened.

From a young age Ann has been fascinated by myths and fairytales, and the romance that was often the center of the story. As Ann grew older and her hormones kicked in, she discovered trashy romance novels. Great at first, but she soon grew tired of the endless stories with a big wonderful emotional buildup to really short and crappy sex. Never a big fan of purple prose, throbbing spears of fleshy pleasure and wet honey pots make her giggle, she sought out books that gave the sex scenes in the story just as much detail and plot as everything else-without using cringe worthy euphemisms. This led her to the wonderful world of Erotic Romance, and she’s never looked back.

Now Ann spends her days trying to tune out cartoons playing in the background to get into her ‘sexy space’ and has accepted that her Muse has a severe case of ADD.
Ann loves to talk with her fans, as long as they realize she’s weird and that sarcasm doesn’t translate well via text.

One More Moment ~ Samantha Chase

In front of her, the guy reached into his back pocket and cursed.

Loudly.

“Um…cancel my order,” he told the cashier, his voice so low and deep it was almost a growl. “I forgot my wallet.”

Without hesitation, Charlotte stepped forward and smiled at the young cashier. “Hi, Carly,” she began, reading the girl’s nametag, “if it’s okay, you can add his order to mine.” She was feeling pretty good about herself and her gesture, but when she turned and looked up at the man she was helping, she couldn’t help but gasp.

Jet-black hair and silver eyes—which were currently glaring at her. There wasn’t even a hint of a smile and if anything, he was borderline snarling.

“What do you think you’re doing?” he asked.

Charlotte had met enough people who were down on their luck to know that sometimes pride was a huge deterrent to them accepting help in any form. “I heard you say you had forgotten your wallet and just figured I’d help.”

“Why?”

Her shoulders relaxed even as her smile grew and she laughed softly. “What do you mean, ‘why’?”

“Ma’am?” the cashier asked. “What can I get you? The line’s getting backed up.”

“Oh, right. Sorry.” Although she was a little miffed at being called “ma’am.” At twenty-seven, she didn’t consider herself old enough for that title, but she’d deal with that later. “I’ll have a tall mocha Frappuccino and a blueberry muffin, please.” Then she handed her credit card over before looking back at the angry man.

“I don’t need anyone to buy me coffee,” he growled.

Undeterred, she smiled and accepted her card back from the cashier. “Oh, please. I know I get cranky when I can’t have my coffee, and you look like you could use it. It’s not a big deal. Really.” She stepped around him to go wait at the other end of the counter for their order. For a minute, she didn’t think he would follow, and she had to hide her smile when he finally did.

“I could have just gone and grabbed my wallet and come back,” he argued. His voice was low, but there was still heat in it.

She shrugged and offered him a smile. “Now you don’t have to.”

They stood in silence until their order was placed on the counter, and Charlotte thanked the barista and then smiled at the man. He still hadn’t picked up his coffee or muffins, and she wondered just how stubborn he was going to be.

“Look, if it bothers you that much, just…pay it forward,” she said.

“Pay it what?”

“Forward. You know, next time you’re in line and notice someone in need of a hand, help them out.” Her smile broadened even as he looked at her as if she were crazy. “Anyway, enjoy and have a great day!”

Without waiting for an answer, she walked out of the coffee shop and across the street toward the park benches where she could sit and see the beach and enjoy the fresh air. It really was a beautiful day out and there was no way she wanted to waste it sitting inside.

Sitting down, she pulled the muffin out of the bag and was about to break off a piece when someone sat down beside her.

Her unkempt man.

With her sunglasses on, she was certain he couldn’t read her surprise, and she did her best to sound casual as she asked, “Would you like to join me?” For the life of her, she had no idea why she would even suggest such a thing. It was obvious he was annoyed with her and really, just because she tended to be trusting didn’t mean it was always the right thing to do. For all of her speculation, she had no idea who this man was.

“What is your deal?” he asked a little suspiciously, but not snarling or growling nearly as much as he had been inside the coffee shop.

“My deal?”

He nodded. “Why’d you buy my breakfast? What’s it to you if I didn’t have my wallet?”

For a moment Charlotte could only stare. Was this guy for real? Here she was doing a nice thing and he was giving her crap for it?

“It was just coffee and two muffins,” she reasoned pleasantly. “It wasn’t a big deal, and like I said, just pay it forward.”

That should have been the end of it, but considering he didn’t move or say anything, she figured it wasn’t.

Now she started to feel a little uneasy.

Looking around, she tried to see how many people were around. It was early and people were out walking on the sidewalk and down on the sand, so she relaxed. She could handle this.

“What is it you want from me?” he finally asked, his scowl back in place.

Charlotte turned to look back up at him and frowned herself. “Excuse me?”

He sighed in agitation. “You heard me. What is it you want? You want me to sign something?”

Sign something? What the…?

“Look, Mr.…?” She paused and waited for him to fill in the blank, but when he didn’t, she was the one to sigh. “I’m Charlotte, by the way. Charlotte Clark. I’d prefer not to keep calling you ‘angry guy’ in my head.” And when he still didn’t answer, she stuffed her muffin back in the bag, grabbed her coffee, and stood. “I honestly didn’t mean to offend you, okay? I just thought it would be a nice thing to do and then we’d both be on our way—me feeling good and you feeling thankful. Obviously, I was wrong. So… I’m sorry if I was mistaken and if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and enjoy my breakfast elsewhere.”

Her heart was hammering in her chest as she moved around him and walked back along the sidewalk to the crosswalk in hopes of finding someplace else to sit and eat. The whole time she complained in her head, because she seriously enjoyed sitting and watching the waves crash and all the sights and smells of the beach.

Stupid angry guy messing with my good morning.

Publisher: Self-published
Genres: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis:

After losing her job, her home, and her friends in her divorce, Nora Pitts is determined not to make the same mistakes when she starts over in the small town of Shadow Creek, Washington. No more toiling away in the lab at the expense of her social life, and definitely no more men. Ever.  But making friends in her thirties is so much harder than she anticipated. And when it comes to her gorgeous yet obnoxious neighbor, it’s a whole lot easier to make enemies.

Eli Hardin doesn’t have a lot of sympathy for his uptight neighbor, until he overhears her so-called new friends making fun of her un-datable status. Suddenly he finds himself volunteering for a date with a woman who’s been leaving angry hate-notes in his mailbox, and in way over his head. Because all it takes is one disastrous date with Nora for Eli to fall hard.

But falling for Eli isn’t something Nora’s ready for—not when he’s her complete opposite, and especially not when he turns out to be the best friend she’s made in Shadow Creek. But as her attraction and her feelings for Eli grow hotter, resisting him might just lead to heartbreak anyway.

Eli marked off twenty-six and three-quarter inches as precisely as he could and lifted the blade of the circular saw.

“Oh my God, I soooo wasn’t kidding,” one of the women next door said loudly. “Nora really does need to get laid.”

His shoulders tensed. This wasn’t the first time he’d overheard the women loudly shit-talking his neighbor behind her back. He had no idea why she hung out with them.

“Maybe you should set her up with someone,” another woman added.

The other two laughed. “Can you imagine Nora on a date? She’s so uptight and frigid. Who would want to date her? No lay is worth that kind of torture. Can’t you just picture her busting out her bottle of sanitizer before the poor sap tries to hold her hand?”

His jaw tensed and he felt the last of his patience snap like an icicle in his warm hands. He sliced the saw through the wood, threw his protective glasses onto the ground, and marched over to the waist-high chain link fence. “I’d do it.”

All three women turned to look at him like he was a space alien who’d just beamed down to earth. The one who’d been talking the most leaned forward in her seat. “What did you just say?”

“You heard me. I’d go out with her.”

“You can’t be serious.”

The more this woman pushed, the more he wanted to put her in her place. No, Nora was not the kind of woman he would normally ask out—mainly because she was one of the few who didn’t seem to fall for his charm. In fact, he was pretty sure she didn’t think he had any charm whatsoever, but she was attractive and smart enough to read a book every month. That alone made her more dateable than half the population in this town. “Sure as hell am.”

The woman leaned forward, smiling at him like he was freshly caught prey in her snare. “If you’re looking for a date, I could show you a much better time.”

He shrugged, keeping his fake smile on his face. “No thanks. Backstabbing and mean isn’t my type.”

He probably enjoyed the shocked look on the woman’s face a little too much, but it was seriously fucking rude to trash-talk the hostess while sitting on her porch and eating her canapés.

The screen door slid open right at that moment. Nora walked out with a plate of decadent-looking mini-chocolate cakes that made his mouth water on sight. Her eyes darted from her friends to him and back again. “Um, what’s going on?”

He rested his hands against the old chain-link fence. “What’s going on is that your so-called friends are talking trash about your love life behind your back and don’t seem to think you can get a date. So I volunteered.”

“You what?”

“Volunteered. You and me. Tomorrow night at seven. I’ll drive.”

She slammed the cake tray onto the coffee table and set her hands on her hips. She looked around, like she couldn’t decide where to focus her anger. Of course she settled on him. “Who says I’d want to go out with you?”

He raised his eyebrow, liking the way she got flustered around him a little too much. “Got better plans?”

Even at the distance between them, he could see her suck in a breath. Her mouth hardened into a flat line, but she didn’t say no.

“Tomorrow. Seven. Dinner. Oh, and consider making new friends who aren’t so damn mean. These ladies don’t deserve any of those amazing-looking cakes.” He grabbed his plank of wood and headed into the house, wondering what the hell he’d just gotten himself into.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I had a great time reading this book. I honestly loved it!!

Nora Potts and Eli Hardin were fabulous together. A pair that started out as not very friendly neighbours, Eli stood up for Nora when he overheard her so called ‘new friends’ are once again ripping her character apart while they were sitting in her home – well, they claim to be Nora’s friends but really, they just turn up for her great cooking and the eye candy next door, ie Eli, while he works in his backyard!
Eli is a really good guy who can’t believe the things they are saying and decides to do something about it, even though he and the hate-mail writer next door so far haven’t hit it off!

Nora and Eli become friends, but as time goes by, things change and feelings develop though Nora is unsure of getting involved following her failed marriage, while Eli is all in and needs to show Nora just how good they could be together.
Both leads had issues when it came to feeling and relationships, romantic and family, and they each had their own reasons for not being in too deep but oh, how things changed the longer they spent doing everyday things together.
I loved the growth of their relationship and how patient and non-judgemental Eli was with Nora and all her quirky ways. His keenness to have her involved with his sister’s bookclub and mixing with his friends spoke to how much he wanted Nora around him.

This was a fun read that had me laughing out loud at points and I can’t wait for more in the series.

This read made me fall for the couple and I’m giving it 5*

RELEASE BLITZ ~ But First, Coffee (Love & Coffee Series #1) by Sarah Darlington

Title: But First, Coffee

Series: Love & Coffee Series #1

Author: Sarah Darlington

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 9, 2018

He’s a barista. She’s the CEO of Java Beans.

LANA BITTERMAN:

Every time I hear the name Joe Coffee, I nearly burst out laughing. However, he happens to be the best barista in the company; single handedly changing the store he works in from our lowest earner to our highest earner. So, naturally, as CEO I want to meet him and give him a well-earned promotion. But when he walks into my office looking like sin incarnate, covered in tattoos with electric blue eyes that send shockwaves through my body, the only thing I really want is… him… in my bed.

JOE COFFEE:

Lana Bitterman has a stick up her ass. Everyone knows that. And I don’t care about her one way or the other. I’m just trying to live my life my way, which was exactly why I dropped out of law school and became a barista in the first place. Only, my sister landed herself in a bad situation and Doug Maddox, someone with a serious grudge against Lana, know that. Doug’s blackmailing me. He’s using me as his spy. So when I walk into Lana’s office, I’m not actually there on my own agenda. Ms. Uptight won’t know what hit her. Little did I know, neither would I.

“I’m only a barista,” he answered.

“That’s bullshit and you know it.”

“I’m not your saving grace.”

“I’m just asking for a good employee. Maybe one who can show me a little more respect.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t trust me so easily.”

I closed my eyes for second, grunting in frustration, because he had a serious problem letting me win this argument. He was pushing me, almost as if he wanted to see how far he could take this before I had no choice but to fire his ungrateful ass. I rubbed at my still tender hand and opened my eyes, ready to continue my verbal showdown with Joe.

But he surprised me when I noticed a tenderness in his eyes that wasn’t there before. “Let me see your hand.” I realized I was clutching the one that hurt in the palm of my good hand.

He stepped closer to me.

My heart went off like a wild animal. His nearness had way too much of an effect over me. I didn’t know if it was wise to let him get so close to me, especially when he smelled so good. It wasn’t cologne, just his natural manly scent.

He gestured again for my hand.

I was holding it captive, but I cautiously moved it in his direction. He took it in his warm and—surprisingly—gentle hands. The tips of his fingers massaged and squeezed over my knuckles and fingers as if he knew what he was doing, checking to see if all was okay. “Does any of this hurt?”

I felt numb and breathless as I answered, “Not really.”

“I don’t think anything’s broken, then.”

His fingers stopped moving, but he didn’t drop my hand, and I didn’t pull it from him, either. We both just stood there, trapped in each other’s gaze, technically holding hands, with neither of us making a move to break away.

This was a good read. The first book by Sarah Darlington that I’ve read but I will at some point check out her other work.

The main characters were chalk and cheese but they had an attraction from the first time they met but I wasn’t completely sold on them together for some reason.
Lana was a workaholic, building up her business but living (if it could be called that!) a lonely life.
Joe was something unexpected. His history and what he had gone through was very relevant in this era but from a very different perspective, it made his character so much more likable.

The angst was ok. In the main, things didn’t have to be dragged out by the ‘bad guy’ as they were and things at one point were so quickly resolved that I wondered what the fuss was about in the first place. I’m looking forward to Kitty’s book but I’m having difficulty already working out what it is about her ‘leading man’ that’s gonna have drawn her in……… time will tell.

I’m giving But First, Coffee 3.75*

EXCERPT

He kisses me, a quick brush of lips over lips. “I need you naked. I need to feel you next to me.” He rolls me to my back and with that “for now” in the air, he moves and resettles with his lips to my stomach and this is not an accidental connection. My heart squeezes with the certainty that he’s reminding me of how many times he told me he wanted a little girl just like me. It affects me. We had so many plans. We were best friends. We were so many things that happened so very quickly and easily, and then it was gone.
He pulls down my pants, and all too quickly my sneakers and everything else are gone. I’m naked and not just my body. I am so very naked with this man and always have been. But as for my body, I’m not alone for long. He strips away his clothes, and I lift to my elbows to admire all that sinewy, perfect muscle before he reaches down, grabs my legs and pulls me to him. The minute my backside is on the edge of the bed, he goes down on a knee. I sit up and cup his face. “Not now. Now I need—I need—”
He cups my head and pulls my mouth to his, kissing me with a long stroke of his tongue before he says, “And I need to taste you.”
“Not now. I’m not leaving. We have time. I need—you. Here with me.”
His eyes soften but he still leans in and licks my clit, and then suckles. I’m all but undone by the sensation because one thing I know and know well is how good this man is with his tongue. But he doesn’t ignore my request. He pushes off the floor, and in a heartbeat, he’s kissing me and I don’t even know how we end up in the center of the bed, our naked bodies entwined. We just are and it’s wonderful and right in ways nothing has been in so very long.
He lifts my leg to his thigh and presses his thick erection inside me, filling me in ways that go beyond our bodies; driving deep, his hand on my backside, pulling me into him, pushing into me, but then we don’t move. Then we just lay there, intimately connected, lost in the moment and each other. “Is this what you wanted?”
“Yes,” I say. “This is what I wanted.”
“I didn’t think I’d ever have you here, like this, with me again.”
“Me either,” I whisper, my fingers curling on his jaw. “Grayson,” I say for no reason other than I need his name on my lips. I need everything with this man.
He kisses me, a fast, deep, passionate kiss. “I missed the hell out of you, Mia. So fucking much. I don’t think you really understand how much.”
This moment, right here, right now, is one of our raw, honest, perfect moments that has always made his betrayal hard to accept. I need that honesty in my life and with him and I don’t even think about denying him my truth. “I missed you, too. More than you know, Grayson.”

He squeezes my backside and drives into me again. I pant with the sensations that rip through my body, my hand going to his shoulder. “Nothing was right without you,” he says. “Nothing, Mia.” He kisses me, and I sink into the connection, pressing into him, into his thrust, into the hard warmth of his entire body. Needing to be close. Needing the things that separated us not to exist.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I really love the Dirty Rich series and I read this instalment in a day as it had me so hooked. I like the interaction of characters between stories, the suspense that Lisa Renee Jones does so well and of course, who couldn’t fall for the leading couple?

Dirty Rich Betrayal, in the main takes, place over a pretty short space of time, but it flashes back a lot over a two year period to when Mia started working for Bennett’s and first met Grayson, through their relationship and subsequent break up. It was a bit before we discovered what the betrayal was and I was a little torn about how Mia reacted… I got where she was coming from but, for me, she could have at least tried to find out what was going on rather than jump to the conclusions she did – but, what it really showed was that although Gray & Mia thought they had the ‘perfect’ relationship, they were pretty much just like else and they both had failings and shortcomings that lead, in part, to them being separated. The question was, could they see and acknowledge these ‘flaws’ and address them so they could move forward and have a future together, if that was indeed what they both wanted.

The suspense/action part of the story gradually came together over the read, but it all seemed to be over rather quickly – but I was delighted that we got to catch up with a few of the guys from Walkers Security.

This pair were really good together. They still loved each other, neither had been able to really move on (though one of them had kinda tried, of a fashion!). The feelings, attraction and spark were all believable and I was rooting for them, especially when we found out what had happened a year past that had Mia running.

I’m looking forward to more in this series. Although it is book 4, I think you could easily read Dirty Rich Betrayal as a standalone and still really enjoy it.

4 Dirty Rich stars for this instalment in the series.

We spent the entire day together. I worked on the system, with Becca acting as my assistant. More than once, she rose up on her toes for a kiss. More than once, I had her pressed to the wall, devouring her mouth. It was the best install I had ever done.

“You are such a good kisser,” she murmured against my mouth. “How can a virgin be so good at kissing?”
Pleased she was enjoying my caresses, I grinned. “I have kissed girls and women, but, as I said, I haven’t gone beyond that.” I cupped her face, dragging my lips across her cheek to her sensitive earlobe. “I was waiting for the right person.”
“And I’m that person?”
“Yes,” I stated with conviction, dropping another kiss to her mouth. “You are.” I ran my fingers over my lips, then grabbed my drill.
“Why do you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You press your fingers on your mouth every time we kiss.”
“Oh, ah…” I stalled, looking over her shoulder. I felt heat prickle my neck.
“Tell me,” she insisted. “I want to know.”
“I like how it feels when you kiss me. I guess I’m sort of sealing you into me. Keeping your taste locked into my mouth.”
She stared at me, blinking and silent.
“Is that weird? It’s weird. I’m sorry.”
I wasn’t prepared when she launched herself at me. The drill flew one way; we hit the wall behind me, a mass of entangled arms and legs, her mouth on mine, hard and passionate. I slid down the wall to the floor, taking her with me. She was ferocious in her intensity, her kisses deep and possessive.
“You say the most erotic words,” she groaned. “Sealing my taste into you?”
“So, not weird?” I moaned as she kissed her way down my neck.
“No, not weird.” She hovered over me, her dark hair falling like a waterfall around us. “You turn me on like no man has ever done, Reid. Ever.” She kissed me again.
I was good with that.

GIVEAWAY

Reid: Vested Interest Book 4 Release Giveaway

I love the stories that Melanie Moreland writes, she gives good words! 😀
I’m gonna start by (sheepishly) admitting that, even though I have the books, I haven’t read the other BAM boys stories yet…… but that didn’t in any way impact my enjoyment of Reid

Man, Reid was a hottie – I loved him and my heart broke for him more than once as we read about his life…. I was so glad he’d found the guys at BAM and in turn, had found a family of his own. Things were going along nicely for Reid and then he met Rebecca but our fave computer expert was a tongue tied, stuttering, nervous mess any time he was around the lady who had caught his eye.
He was funny, at times shared way way too much info but I liked that he was comfortable enough in his own skin to be this way!

Becca, she was lovely. Strong, determined, talented but with a little edge of vulnerability when it came to Reid and whatever their ‘relationship’ status was becoming!
She took control of the reins when she needed to, stood up for herself (even though at one point I was nearly spitting mad at her!) and the perfect gal for our slightly broken geek.

With the addition of Bentley, Aiden and Maddox, this book was in parts funny, sad, a little heartbreaking, intriguing and at times quite uplifting. A great read – maybe don’t do what I did and read them in order to avoid any possible spoilers. 😉

A 5* recommended Reid (read/reid… get it….I know, that was a bad play on words lol)
