Synopsis:
An inherited parking spot. That’s all it took to make Natalie Moran’s food truck dreams come true. But her dream space is attached to a bakery inherited by someone else—drop dead gorgeous Eric Schneider, a financial consultant who wouldn’t know a cupcake from a cannoli. And he wants to buy Nat out, no matter what she has to say about it.
Eric’s determined to build his own business, but he needs the super cute klutz with the cupcake truck to help. If Nat will teach him the basics of running a bakery, he’ll give her free kitchen time. Except…neither expects the heat burning between them or the possibility that their arrangement might become permanent.
When it all blows up, Nat is convinced his actions mean betrayal. It’s up to Eric to regain her trust and show her he’s a man who is truly, madly in love with her, before she disappears from his life forever.
Excerpt:
Rick moved closer to the rustling bag while Gina stood stock-still, her eyes wide and anxious.
“What is it?” she whispered.
“I think a mouse has decided to help himself to the rest of our cupcakes.”
“What?” she shrieked.
Before he could say another word, she’d jumped up on her chair. Not designed for trampoline practice, the thin plastic promptly shredded. Rick reached out to catch her as one leg went through the plastic and the rest of her went sideways. He caught her before she hit the ground. But apparently their movements landed them a little too close to the occupied bag for her comfort because she took one look down, gasped, and climbed him like a tree.
“What are you doing?” he asked, both laughing and grunting as she twisted around him.
“Get rid of it!”
“What, the bag?” He grabbed her around the waist to keep her from falling ass-first onto the hard roof.
“No! The damn mouse, or rat, or whatever the hell it is!”
The bag rustled again, and she squeezed her legs around his waist and gripped his neck so tight she was dangerously close to strangling him.
“I can’t do anything if you don’t loosen your grip.”
She tore her gaze from the bag o’ death at their feet and looked at him. “Oh. Sorry,” she said, letting up a little.
He took a nice deep breath. “Thank you.”
His eyes met hers, and she seemed to realize the position she’d gotten them into. Her legs and arms wrapped about him. His hands beneath her butt and thighs, holding her up. Their faces only inches apart. All their delicate bits pressed as close as they could get with their clothing still on.
Her cheeks flashed fifty shades of red in the faint light coming from the streetlight below.
“Sorry,” she murmured again. “You, um, can put me down now.”
He tightened his hold on her. “You sure?” he asked, not wanting to let her go. He liked the way she felt molded to his body. The vanilla scent of her hung in the air between them, whetting his appetite for something a little sweeter than the cupcakes in the rat bag. All he had to do was close the distance between them…
Her breathing sped up, her lips parting with a little sigh. Her gaze zeroed in on his lips and there was no hiding from her how he felt about her wrapped around him. For a split second, her legs tightened their hold on his waist, pressing even closer. Her eyes fluttered closed. But then she shook her head and loosened her grip.
“Yeah, I’m sure,” she said, pushing away from him. “But…put me on the chair until you get rid of that thing.”
He chuckled and reluctantly deposited her on top of the chair he’d been sitting in. Then he bent and swiftly scooped up the bag, rolling the top down so whatever was inside couldn’t get out.
BLP REVIEW – Tracy
I really enjoyed Totally Sweetly, Irrevocably. Well written with a leading couple who by all accounts didn’t think they could or would work together but totally did!!
Gina was crazy.. The girl just seemed to lurk from one drama to another. The latest issue she has is someone trashing her cupcake truck – and she’s got a fairly good idea who’s doing it. While on her personal truck stakeout, she is nabbed by the police. Officer Boyd, one of the policemen who turns up to the neighbours peeping tom call is hot and even though she doesn’t like the law (with, in her mind, good reason), there’s an instant attraction between him and Gina
Rick is a no-nonsense kinda guy. He’s dedicated to his job and follows procedure all the time – until he meets Gina… She knocks him for six and all the things he thought he wanted in his life – the wife, 2.5 kids, the picket fence – are suddenly under question. He knows they have a connection but given how different they are he’s not sure they could ever be a couple.
They pair start off by staking out the cupcake van together – pretty much to make sure Gina doesn’t get into any more trouble from Rick’s POV. Through their nights together they get to know each other better and the attraction between them heats up, but still neither is sure this is a relationship that could work.
The issues they had were understandable even though I felt that both of them needed to bend just a little and not be so rigid in their views of what they needed. When this pair got together they were smokin’ hot and, in and out of bed, they gelled really well. The banter, humour, general craziness that Gina managed to get herself into, the inclusion of family and friends and the heat between R & G all added up to give us a really good read. Fun, sweet, laugh out loud funny, hot & sexy.
I’m giving Totally, Sweetly, Irrevocably 4* and I’m definitely gonna be checking out the first book in the series as well as more of Kira Archer’s books!!
Playlist:
Music is a very strong inspiration for me. It isn’t necessary for my writing process, but it can really help set the mood or get a scene in my head if I need a little help. And as it is summer and my kids are home all day, it’s also great for drowning out the background noise 😉 I tend to listen to instrumental music when writing as lyrics can be a bit difficult to tune out sometimes. My go-to faves depend on the mood I’m going for. For more angsty/sad/tense scenes I gravitate toward The Piano Guys, Evanescence, Apocalyptica, E.S. Posthumus, and Rob Dougan.
My current release, Totally, Sweetly, Irrevocably, is a funny book with characters who enjoy pushing each other’s buttons. So I kept the music light and upbeat. My playlist mostly consisted of Lindsey Stirling and Parov Stelar on Pandora. A few of my favorite songs of theirs:
Lindsey Stirling: Master of Tides, Roundtable Rival, and The Arena
Parov Stelar: Booty Swing, Catgroove, and All Night
I also listened to my Old School playlist quite a bit – gotta love that 90’s music 😉 Some faves from that list are:
Shoop – Salt N Pepa
Poison – Poison
Steal My Sunshine – LEN
Da Dip – Freak Nasty
Opposites Attract – Paula Abdul
Mainly anything that made me want to dance or put a smile on my face was good for this book!
About the Author
Kira Archer resides in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kiddos, and far too many animals in the house.
She tends to laugh at inappropriate moments, break all the rules she gives her kids (but only when they aren’t looking), and would rather be reading a book than doing almost anything else.
She has odd, eclectic tastes in just about everything and often lets her imagination run away with her. She loves her romances a little playful, a lot sexy, and always with a happily ever after.

M. L. Buchman has over 35 novels and an ever-expanding flock of short stories in print. His military romantic suspense books have been named Barnes & Noble and NPR “Top 5 of the year,” Booklist “Top 10 of the Year,” and RT “Top 10 Romantic Suspense of the Year.” In addition to romantic suspense, he also writes contemporaries, thrillers, and fantasy and science fiction.
In among his career as a corporate project manager he has: rebuilt and single-handed a fifty-foot sailboat, both flown and jumped out of airplanes, designed and built two houses, and bicycled solo around the world.
He is now a full-time writer, living on the Oregon Coast with his beloved wife. He is constantly amazed at what you can do with a degree in Geophysics. You may keep up with his writing at www.mlbuchman.com.
The first book in my new Delta Force #1, Target Engaged was called “His best yet” by Booklist and was also named a finalist for RWA’s prestigious RITA award.
Well, my answer to that is Heart Strike, releasing August 3rd, 2016. But it got me thinking. What are my favorite sequels? For a change-up, I focused on the action side rather than the romance, and here’s what I came up with.
5. The Color of Money
Paul Newman and a very young Tom Cruise in The Color of Money. The original Jackie Gleason and a very young Paul Newman The Hustler was a master work of a tight psychological drama. They upped the stakes and made it utterly captivating in the highly energetic sequel.
4. Jason Bourne
Jason Bourne #2 & #3 didn’t disappoint…for a single second. They sustained the tension, remained true to the character (an essential), and found ways to ratchet the tension higher in each successive one. Number 4? Not so much.
3. The Wrath of Khan
The Wrath of Khan notoriously took one of the most disappointing movie launches ever, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and created a massive and incredible franchise that has continued ever since. Khan is still one of the great, over-the-top, out-of-control villains.
2. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Sometimes a great sequel comes third rather than second. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade pitted Harrison Ford against Sean Connery in gloriously foolish father-son mayhem that completely honored the first film.
1. The Dark Knight Rises
This choice surprises me. I like the Dark Knight reboot, but I’m not a big fan of the comic book heroes in general and frequently skip them. It took me a couple of years to catch up with this one and what I love about it isn’t the acting (which was wonderful), or the action (which was dramatic). It was the story. The writer and director completely set us up to thinking this story was going one direction…then in the last half hour it went another way entirely. AND that twist was perfectly in character, just wholly unexpected.
Now, I write romantic suspense, so the ending is fairly predictable, but I certainly hope that you enjoy the journey of my latest Delta Force novel, number 2, Heart Strike!
EXCERPT
Action sequels, even romantic suspense ones, only have a short moment of introduction before it’s time to get everyone moving…and moving fast! Delta Force #2, Heart Strike, opens with the team from Delta #1, Target Engaged, mapping coca fields in Boliva. They’re targeting them for massive defoliant drops from the CIA’s 747 tanker plane.
Trouble comes when command issues an order for the team to pull out ahead of schedule to pick up a new team member and a new assignment.
Thankfully, no one anywhere adapts faster to a changing situation than a team of Delta Force operators.
Sunrise was less than an hour off when Chad jostled his shoulder.
Richie hadn’t been asleep and barely managed to suppress an oath as Chad shook him hard enough to wake the dead—his idea of humor. Richie noticed that he was a little more cautious with Duane who often woke with his knife half-drawn. Kyle and Carla were already at the hut’s entrance.
Kyle had taken one look at the order and, in minutes, outlined a plan of how they were going to exit the farm with hopefully minimal exposure and risk. The guards they were anticipating would be off duty and the patrol timing would be wrong, but Kyle’s plan was as solid as they could get with what they knew.
No way would Richie be missing this place. Dirt floor, woven grass mat, and a thatched roof that could really use some thatch before the next rainstorm but wasn’t going to get it.
He felt sorry for the laborers. Some of the farmers were about to have an even worse season than the last one. At a big site like this, they were little better than slaves. Once the coca was gone, they’d be free, but with no assets and no working farm crop. In the coca business, locals just weren’t part of the profit equation.
Rolando and the drug lord’s other armed guards Richie liked well enough, but had less sympathy for.
The Delta team slipped out into the darkness, just a hint of the blue in the sky that was already washing out the fainter stars. They passed the farmers’ huts and were almost to the road leading out of the camp.
“Where are you going, amigos?” Rolando, his AK-47 no longer over his shoulder but now in his hands.
“Hey, buddy.” Chad started forward, but stopped and tried to look stupid when Rolando flicked off the safety.
Carla stepped forward with an easy sway of her hips. Her dirty blue work shirt unbuttoned far enough to reveal that her assets weren’t all that much less impressive than the fabled Mayra’s.
Rolando’s eyes dropped to her cleavage.
She moved a hand up to his chest. With a little flick of her wrist, she revealed the long KA-BAR military knife she was holding and rammed it up under his chin and into his brain.
Rolando twitched once.
“That’s for trying to ram it up my backside without asking.”
“He what?” Kyle snarled, but Carla didn’t waste any time answering. If there was ever a woman able to defend herself, Richie knew it was Carla Anderson.
Then Rolando collapsed to the ground and his finger must have snagged on the trigger. A single 7.62mm round gave a loud crack and zinged off into the trees.
“Shit!” the whole team said pretty much in unison.
With their clandestine departure blown, Chad swept up the AK-47 and fired a security round into Rolando’s forehead.
In seconds, they were fifty meters away and moving fast. Kyle had Rolando’s sidearm and Carla had a subcompact Glock 27 that she’d produced from somewhere—where was one of the questions Richie suspected he’d be better off not asking. Still, it was an interesting problem because they’d all been checked on arrival as being unarmed. Richie had pre-buried his GPS and satellite gear in the jungle, carefully crossing then recrossing the mined perimeter before they’d come into the camp so that he could retrieve them once the team had been accepted.
The two guards at the main gate were half-awake when they stumbled to their feet. They went back down fast and Richie and Duane now had AK-47s as well. Chad stripped them of a pair of Makarov handguns, tossing one to Richie that he caught midair.
There was an old Jeep parked by the gate, but neither of the guards had a key. It was probably back in the open, on Rolando’s body. Chad started hot-wiring it while the rest of them stood watch.
Then Richie heard it. Distant at first, but building fast. The four-engine gut-thumping roar of a loaded 747.
“Come on, Chad,” Carla pleaded. “Get us out of here.”
The Jeep’s engine roared to life and they piled in.
Duane tossed his AK-47 to Chad and dove into the driver’s seat—he was the best driver they had. He’d been working up the sprint-car circuit toward NASCAR when he’d taken his detour into the military.
Kyle and Richie dropped two more armed guards who came rushing from the huts, half-dressed and scared awake.
Duane raced the Jeep out of camp along the road, praying for no booby traps.
Then the largest tanker plane in the world descended and began its run.
The 747, converted for firefighting, had been put into deep storage in the Tucson desert when its owners went out of business. The CIA had found another use for the massive plane, which now began its dump of twenty thousand gallons—over eighty tons—of defoliant across the exact coordinates that Richie had sent to them just six hours ago.
His Delta team had been to twelve coca farms in the last six months. And the 747 tanker had visited each in turn. Twelve farms that wouldn’t produce a single leaf of coca anytime soon.
“Down,” Chad shouted.
They all ducked and hung on as Duane rammed the heavy wooden outer barrier at thirty miles an hour. It blew apart. A four-by-four shattered the windshield and Carla knocked the remains of the glass clear with the butt of a Chinese QBB machine gun she’d acquired somewhere along the way before turning it around to shoot a guard who’d been standing well clear of the gate.
Richie kept an eye out to the rear, but no one was following. If they were, they’d have a long way to go. The team had been pulled out of Bolivia. They were being tasked to a new assignment.
That was fine.
After six months training together and another six in the field, it was the last line of the message that had worried them all.
Proceed to Maracaibo, Venezuela. Acquire new team member.

Excerpt:
Tiana sat with her legs crossed on the olive-green chenille couch in a ratty T-shirt and sweats, devouring a pint of birthday-cake ice cream. Not good. Melanie’s high-strung friend had a life rule to never wear ugly lounge clothes. Only silk and sexy nightgowns touched that body.
Tiana’s scrunched, I-just-ate-bad-sushi face focused on the television, which blared an Australian accent explaining the mating patterns of insects.
Melanie plopped down on the love seat beside her friend and watched a male spider do the courtship dance. She wasn’t really in the mood to see insects get it on, but she’d play along until her reclusive friend shared what was bothering her.
After the male spider did his mating ritual, the female spun him into a tight cocoon. Didn’t know spiders were into bondage, but I dig it.
“Jesus, take the wheel!” Melanie yelled, grabbing Tiana’s wrist. “Did you just see that? He was just busting a move, and she ate him! She ate him!”
Tiana licked the back of her spoon. “He didn’t dance long enough, and he wasn’t good enough for her anyway.”
“Why are you home early, sucking down ice cream, and watching insect porn?”
Tiana rolled her eyes. “Nathaniel.”
Melanie coughed into her hand and covered a grin. Nate’s antics reminded her of a little boy that liked a girl but didn’t know how to express himself. “What did he do?”
“It’s not one big thing. It’s the little things he does to drive me crazy. Ugh! Just like in grad school.” Tiana folded her arms across her chest.
“Like what?”
“Like … we share the same office since we work on many of the same accounts. When I’m printing something and don’t immediately get up, the copies disappear. One day he attached an air horn to my seat and switched our keyboards when I went to the bathroom.” Tiana tugged on her ponytail and huffed.
“And?”
“He took control of my keyboard and pulled up a stupid clown fetish forum on my screen. Our boss came by to visit, and I … well, I almost pissed my Victoria’s Secrets!” Her spoon scraped against the ceramic bowl. “But luckily he clicked off by the time Isaac came around my desk.”
Melanie shook with laughter. “How?” She snorted. “How did Nathan find out you hate clowns?” Howling again, she clutched her stomach.
“It’s not funny! What if my boss saw the website? He would think I was some sort of freak!”
“Sorry, T.” Melanie peppered her tone with just the right amount of remorse to appease her grumpy friend. “But seriously, how on earth did he find out about the clown thing?”
Tiana scooped a big chunk of ice cream, stuffed it in her mouth, and took her sweet time answering. “In one of our grad classes, we had to write an essay about our greatest fears. I wrote about clowns.”

During her tenure, she had the opportunity to interview various talented entertainers including Chris Rock and the cast from Reno-911. Rina has always been an avid reader, sneaking to read her mother’s books she had no business reading i.e. Stephen King’s The Stand, It, and Anne Rice’s various vampire series.
