Swept up in an unfamiliar current, he finds himself looking for ways to spend time with her and her family.
However, when a murder investigation touches his personal life, it invades Trin’s as well, leaving him scrambling to make sure the woman he’s fast falling for is protected.
Watching Trin may be the seventh book in the On Call series from Freya Barker but I enjoyed it just as much as I did book one.
Bodhi and Trin made great main characters. I loved Trin’s strength of character and determination and the way she raised Tucker on her own. Bodhi was someone Trin never expected but once he had his sights set on her, I don’t think she had a chance….
My heart broke at her family situation….. personal experience of the things Trin and her sister were going through with their dads dementia were so close to home that I felt the characters pain. To write about ‘losing’’ a parent when they are still here, the way Freya did, can only be done justice when you have first hand knowledge or experience. Gods, it was difficult to read at times but made the story so much more as it was so relatable.
The relationship Bodhi and Tucker fostered was lovely to watch and Bodhi became a great role model for the teen. I loved the appearance of some of our favourites from other series – personally, I think it’s fab when an author crosses series and characters when you least expect it! i really liked Bodhi’s folks and as ever we had a sense of family, blood and choice, which is a mainstay when it comes to Ms B’s books.
There was action, suspense and mystery that we’re right in Trin’s wheelhouse, given that she’s a journalist, that brought out Bodhi’s very protective side ….. not always a good thing given how stubborn and used to taking care of herself Trin was, but that made for good reading and making up!!!
Another great instalment and I’m looking forward to much more in this series!

M. Moreland’s Insta-Spark Collection is a favourite of mine and Harvest of Love was another great addition to the series…
I floved Dani and Noah. The instant attraction, the desire that flamed quickly, the want and need to help and care for Dani that Noah had was a large part of my enjoyment of the book. That he spotted so much in her that he’d experienced in his past and rather than step away and continue with the quiet life he’d built for himself but throw himself headlong into saving her, for want of a better term, spoke to his character and made me fall for him…..
Dani, gods, I’ve known people like her in life, who are loyal, hardworking and dedicated but are lonely, overlooked and covering the cracks without even realising it’s become their existence. It hurt my heart to see how the life she was living affected Dani and how once she’d heard of Noah’s experience she didn’t want to be a burden or a reminder of his past…
Noah was intense but was just what Dani didn’t realise she needed. It was as if he had a sixth sense when it came to her and they felt like they’d been together longer than they had been which spoke to the connection they had.
Melanie gave us a story that was believable – insta spark aside for some I know – but hey, sometimes you meet someone and just KNOW… it doesn’t always have to take a lot of time to become more!!!
I loved the supporting characters and the sense of family and belonging that Dani got when it came to Noah. I’m looking forward too more in the Insta-Spark collection from Ms Moreland.
