RELEASE DAY BLITZ ~ Fates Entwined by Jules Barnard

They can never be together. The notion is laughable. Humans are inferior, a scourge on the Fae and on the magic passed down to them by angels millennia ago. And if Keen finds himself drawn to the tiny human female, he keeps it to himself. He won’t add to the half-breed problem that threatens his people’s existence.

Reese can’t stand Keen. He criticizes her clothing, won’t answer a straight question, and is too handsome for her peace of mind.

Her entire life, people have pegged Reese for a shallow, ditzy blond. She won’t accept the stereotype from the large, arrogant Fae too.
But after Keen saves her life, she begins to question what truly lies beneath his stoic demeanor.

Forced together, Keen and Reese fight to survive among enemies, and Keen makes choices Reese couldn’t have predicted. She glimpses a side of him that is protective and dangerously seductive.

But Keen refuses to acknowledge their connection.

Until he’s faced with the decision to betray his people, or lose Reese forever.

*This mature YA series is intended for readers 17 years and older.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I love a Christmas story, there’s just a feel good factor about them, unfortunately, this Christmas Candy didn’t give me the sweet feeling I was expecting!!

This was a fairly quick and easy read and while I really liked Gary I just couldn’t find much likeable about Candy to be honest. She was sharp, rude and even went so far to accuse Gary of setting fire to her house (yeah, ‘cos he’d do something that bad just to get closer to you, eh?) I know that she had had a hard time growing up and that she had her son young and things with him weren’t easy but to be honest her attitude in general just didn’t sit well with me!

Sadly, this Christmas Candy gets a 3* from me.

samantha.jpgAnyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never met a stranger and take up conversations any where at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the middle of the night.

I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of course, there will be many more stories to come.

BLOG TOUR ~ Tru Blue by Melissa Foster

trublue_final

Synopsis

Imagine falling in love with a man, then finding out he was a killer…

TRU BLUE is a sexy, dark stand-alone novel written in the same loving, raw, and emotional voice romance readers have come to love, and the deeply emotional literary prose women’s fiction readers have come to expect, from New York Times & USA Today bestselling, award-winning author Melissa Foster.

He wore the skin of a killer, and bore the heart of a lover…

There’s nothing Truman Gritt won’t do to protect his family–Including spending years in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. When he’s finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother’s overdose, and Truman steps in to raise the children she’s left behind. Truman’s hard, he’s secretive, and he’s trying to save a brother who’s even more broken than he is. He’s never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he’s less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people’s lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Truman’s dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he’ll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

“Several emotional topics — such as drug addiction, abandonment, infertility and unexpectedly becoming a parent — are easily woven together without making the story feel crowded or overdone. Foster writes exceptional characters that keep readers thinking long after the book is finished… The dynamic members of the Whiskey family are the foundation that holds the group together and they are exactly the reason we’re taught not to judge. Let’s hope we hear more from all of them!” RT Book Reviews

“Sexy and Heartbreaking….I simply adored this beautifully written romance.” Tasty Book PR

“Ms. Foster, went for the gut with Truman and Gemma. Tru Blue is more than a romance, it is a story of love, a story of hope and a story of courage. 10 + stars.” Night Owl Reviews

“With her wonderful characters and resonating emotions, Melissa Foster is a must-read author!” New York Times Bestseller Julie Kenner

“Melissa Foster is synonymous with sexy, swoony, heartfelt romance!” New York Times Bestseller Lauren Blakely

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I have to say that I loved Tru Blue…… This is the first book by Melissa Foster that I’ve read but I’ll definitely be going back to read The Bradens @ Peaceful Harbor series – and that’s just to start with.

Truman and Gemma’s story was really sweet. There was a little angst but it was minimal and on the whole read was easy, enjoyable, sexy and heartwarming.

Tru didn’t have the best life growing up (that’s an understatement really) but he still fought hard for his family and tried to live the best life he could. That was such a great trait, that after all the crap he’d experienced, time he’d lost and the sacrifices he’d made, he was still focused on those he loved (both family by blood and of choice)
Gemma grew up in a very different environment from Truman but didn’t fare much better when it came to being loved and cared for – her mother didn’t give her the time of day and she fought to make her own way in life. This gave them a connection and helped them understand each other from the beginning.

Their initial meeting was fun, though maybe not for our hero!! Gemma at first was a little judgmental and kinda jumped to conclusions about people, without really being too aware of it! That was probably the main issue I had with her initially but she redeemed herself when it came to Truman and everything that came after!

Yeah, this book was super-sweet, it was nigh on ‘insta-love’ (but not quite) and come the end of the book things wrapped up pretty easily but I was so happy with how things turned out for our couple that none of this put me off! Family was a huge part of the tale, as was not being too proud or stubborn to ask for and accept help. We met so many supporting characters and I can’t wait to find out their own stories.

Well written, engaging, smokin’ hot and packed with emotion, I’m giving Tru Blu 4.5 sweet stars!

Excerpt

TRUMAN GRITT LOCKED the door to Whiskey Automotive and stepped into the stormy September night. Sheets of rain blurred his vision, instantly drenching his jeans and T-shirt. A slow smile crept across his face as he tipped his chin up, soaking in the shower of freedom. He made his way around the dark building and climbed the wooden stairs to the deck outside his apartment. He could have used the interior door, but after being behind bars for six long years, Truman took advantage of the small pleasures he’d missed out on, like determining his own schedule, deciding when to eat and drink, and standing in the f**king rain if he wanted to. He leaned on the rough wooden railing, ignoring the splinters of wood piercing his tattooed forearms, squinted against the wetness, and scanned the cars in the junkyard they used for parts—and he used to rid himself of frustrations. He rested his leather boot on the metal box where he kept his painting supplies. Truman didn’t have much—his old extended-cab truck, which his friend Bear Whiskey had held on to for him while he was in prison, this apartment, and a solid job, both of which were compliments of the Whiskey family. The only family he had anymore.
Emotions he didn’t want to deal with burned in his gut, causing his chest to constrict. He turned to go inside, hoping to outrun thoughts of his own f**ked-up family, whom he’d tried—and failed—to save. His cell phone rang with his brother’s ringtone, “A Beautiful Lie” by 30 Seconds to Mars.
“F**k,” he muttered, debating letting the call go to voicemail, but six months of silence from his brother was a long time. Rain pelleted his back as he pressed his palm to the door to steady himself. The ringing stopped, and he blew out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d trapped inside. The phone rang again, and he froze.
He’d just freed himself from the dredges of hell that he’d been thrown into in an effort to save his brother. He didn’t need to get wrapped up in whatever mess the drug-addicted fool had gotten himself into. The call went to voicemail, and Truman eyed the metal box containing his painting supplies. Breathing like he’d been in a fight, he wished he could paint the frustration out of his head. When the phone rang for the third time in as many minutes, the third time since he was released from prison six months ago, he reluctantly answered.
“Quincy.” He hated the way his brother’s name came out sounding like the enemy. Quincy had been just a kid when Truman went to prison. Heavy breathing filled the airwaves. The hairs on Truman’s forearms and neck stood on end. He knew fear when he heard it. He could practically taste it as he ground his teeth together.
“I need you,” his brother’s tortured voice implored.
Need me? Truman had hunted down his brother after he was released from prison, and when he’d finally found him, Quincy was so high on crack he was nearly incoherent—but it didn’t take much for f**k off to come through loud and clear. What Quincy needed was rehab, but Truman knew from his tone that wasn’t the point of the call.
Before he could respond, his brother croaked out, “It’s Mom. She’s really bad.”

He crowds everything into corners just by stepping into a room.
Steely, cold, and focused, he’d do anything to keep me safe.
Except there is no safe and there is no us.
There’s only stolen moments and reckless touches, secrets and lies.
And the stranger who wants me dead.
Cast in shadows and biding his time, he pulls on the threads of my life hoping I’ll come undone.
Even surrounded by people I’m completely alone.
Though I’m afraid, I don’t want to feel safe.
I want to feel prepared.
Fear doesn’t have to be my weakness; it can be the fire in my veins.
Fear might just keep me alive tonight.

EXCERPT:

PROLOGUE

Him

The house has been empty for years, with no one to maintain it, no one to look after it. It’s a shadow of its former self.

Like me.

My steps leave shoe prints on the dirty linoleum of the hall. Behind me, a trail of my progress leads all the way to the back entrance. I’m not worried. I’ll clean it all later.

I stroll past the pictures lining the walls, covered in dust. Pictures of them. Gone. All gone. The skeleton of my life. Of everything I had before it all disintegrated in my hands.

No matter. Tables turn, and no one on this earth can escape reaping what they sow. Not even her. Soon she’ll understand what she’s done, how her words destroyed everything.

The air grows stale as I head down into the basement. The first three stairs groan under my weight, just as they always have. A shiver runs through me. It’s always been chillier down here than the rest of the house, especially in the winter months. But my shiver isn’t from the cold. It’s from excitement.

Even though I know I shouldn’t have come. Not during the day when the neighbors could see. But I couldn’t help myself. I needed to make sure it’s all just the way I left it.

Reaching the foot of the stairs, I straighten and inspect the room I’ve prepared.

The single, twin-sized mattress, pushed against the bare wall of the unfinished basement. Any movement I make echoes in the cavernous space. The chill hangs in the air, and the thick silence is almost buzzing around me.

I get goosebumps just standing here, imagining what it’s like to wonder.

Wonder and wonder and wonder.

Wonder if you’re going crazy.

Wonder if you will live or die.

To gain hope. To lose that hope. To break.

I wonder, gleeful and fidgeting in my excitement.

Straight across from the bed is the only other furniture I’ve placed in the room. A shabby nightstand with a small television monitor perched on top of it.

That’s where she’ll see it all.

That’s where she’ll see herself.

I run my finger absently over the blade cradled in my hand. I don’t remember pulling it out, but stroking it helps everything in my head go still. I’ve had this particular knife for so long, I know just how to touch it so it won’t cut me.

It’s part of me.

You’re forgetting something.

I slice at the air with the knife. At the voice. I know it’s my own, but it sounds just like him. Mocking. Belittling. Making me question myself. He doesn’t know me anymore. I’ve changed. The things I’ve been through…the scars that pucker up inside of me, never healing, never showing themselves to the world. But no matter. They make me stronger. I’m better than him now. I won’t make the mistakes he made.

You’re going to get caught.

Shut up,” I hiss.

But he can’t hear me. It’s one way with him. It’s always been one way.

He’s wrong.

I won’t get caught. I’ve planned it perfectly. I won’t squander away the position of power I’ve gained. Not the way he did. Tactlessly and without forethought, letting his anger rule him. No. I’ll get my revenge and I’ll live to see it all play out. I’m patient. I’ve been biding my time. I’ve done my homework, set up the smoke and mirrors. They see only calm and control and camouflage.

No one knows tonight’s the night.

I stroke the blade with my forefinger and pull up an image in my mind’s eye. An image of her. Sitting on the mattress, staring at that television with those pretty eyes of hers, wide as an owl’s. Watching, for the first time, what happens when she’s the headline. When the hunter becomes the prey. When the reporter becomes the story.

Prologue

Rogers Park, Chicago

Christmas morning 2002

Thomas

I lie in bed waiting for Halo to wake up. I know Christmas was a big deal around her house when she was growing up. Even though her parents are gone I still want her to feel the magic of the holiday. When I was a kid Christmas was another shitty day in my life. Nothing to celebrate. Another mark on the calendar moving me closer to the time I could leave my father and my dirty past behind.

Halo begins to stir in bed, shifting toward me with her eyes shut. A sweet smile plays on her pink, lush lips and my chest bursts with love for this woman.

“Hey.” Her morning voice is raspy and thick. She opens her eyes. I couldn’t love this woman more even if I tried. She’s my everything.

“Hey yourself.” I grin as my eyes roam over her rosy nipples. The memory of making love last night gets me all hard again. I would take her right now if I didn’t have something planned. I let out a grunt.

She stretches out her arms and her body moves into a delicious curve. I lean down and close my mouth over her nipple. Damn, she tastes good.

I groan. “Baby, you can’t be teasing me now. It’s Christmas morning and I got stuff waiting for you under the tree downstairs.”

“Stuff?” Excitement grows in her eyes. “Like presents?” She instantly pops up to her knees, bouncing on the bed. She’s too cute. It’s taking everything in me not to claim her right now. I want to give her Christmas.

Seeing her smile means everything. Not too long ago she was drowning in darkness. The healthy gleam in her eyes tells me she’s feeling good now. It will make my news a little easier to deliver.

“Yes, baby, the stuff is presents.” Before I can say anything else she pops out of bed and grabs her T-shirt off the floor. I must have thrown it there last night during our lustful attempt toactually make it to the bed as opposed to having sex on the floor again.

There’s nothing wrong with floor sex but it can get hard on the back and Halo’s knees. Halo throws on the shirt and darts down the hallway. I hear the small patter of her footsteps as she makes her way down the stairs. I slip on my boxer shorts and follow her. I placed a number of presents under the tree and she won’t know which to open first.

I swiftly walk down the stairs to the living room where our Christmas tree is shining bright. I look out the window to see a small dusting of snow falling from the sky. Halo seats herself on the floor in front of the presents. This is my second year with a Christmas tree and her second year without her parents—bittersweet.

“Which one do I open first?” she asks like a little girl rubbing her palms together. It makes me laugh. I mean we are young. I’m twenty and she’s nineteen. We were both forced to grow up too quickly. I guess it’s memorable times like this that we cherish.
“If I knew presents made you this excited I would try to get more.” I chuckle.

“It’s not just the presents, Thomas. It’s Christmas. Do you feel that? It’s magical.” She stares out into space with a peaceful look on her face.

“Sure baby, I’m feeling it.” I look down to the chub in my shorts from this morning’s perusal of her body.

“Thomas,” she chides, punching my shoulder.

I chuckle again. “I’m just joking, this day is special for me too.” She’s too cute. I lean in, pressing a soft kiss on her lips. I pull away and lean toward the first box I want her to open. “This one.” I pass her a little red box wrapped in pink ribbon. She opens it in a hurry. It’s a thong from Victoria’s Secret. It’s not meaningful, but I couldn’t help picture how hot she would look in it.

“Thank you.” She leans forward and places a kiss on my lips. Then she rises to her feet and walks over to the closet by the front door. She retrieves a box from the closet and comes back to the tree.

“This is for you,” she says, extending the box with one hand. I pull her toward me, guiding her to sit in my lap. Then I open my gift. It’s a dog tag. Engraved. “I will always love you. You are the light in my darkness.” My chest grows tight.

I enlisted in the navy and went through SEAL boot camp, passing with flying colors. Then I was shipped out to Coronado, California a year ago for more training. Becoming a SEAL was a dream I had all my life. Originally I wanted to be a SEAL to get away from my father. Then I met Halo. She was only fifteen and perfect. She made me want to be a SEAL for an entirely different reason—I wanted to prove myself worthy of her.

I haven’t told her yet, but I’m deploying. I was putting it off until I knew the depression was better. I also know that she could feel me itching to leave. My friends from boot camp had already been assigned to teams that had left for Afghanistan. Being a newlywed meant I could put it off for a while. Now I was deploying. I worried she would take it hard. That’s another reason I wanted to make Christmas extra special for us.

“Halo, it’s perfect, baby.” I lean over and give her a kiss. “You are the light in my darkness. I know you know I need to leave. I wanted to talk to you about it, but…”
Her finger presses to my mouth. “I know…I know you need to go. I’ve known for a while. I guess I was selfish trying to keep you here all this time.”

“There isn’t a selfish bone in your body. You were having a hard time and it was completely understandable. You’re stronger now. You’re going to be okay. You’re busy with school and you have Jenny. You will be fine without me, Halo. I don’t think you realize how strong you really are.” I pause for a minute because I want her to open her next gift. “Here, open this.” I pass her a little silver box; this one has a little gold bow on top. She turns on my lap so she is sitting with her legs wrapped around my waist. She opens the box and her jaw drops.

“Thomas, it’s perfect,” she gasps taking it out of the box. It’s a silver locket.

“Here, let me.” I take it out of her hand and show her the engraving on the back.

You’re my Halo, my ray of light.
I will always find my way back to you

She laughs.

“We clearly think alike.” She nods, proud of herself. It’s true her name is quite original. We’ve used “halo” as a term of endearment many times. It’s a reminder that when a person is drowning in darkness, another person can show them the light.

“It’s perfect, Thomas.”

“It opens up. You can put two pictures inside,” I explain, showing it to her.

“I will have to get some pictures made.”

I place the necklace around her neck and her palm closes over the locket, holding it close to her heart. I place the tags around my neck.

“Baby, I ship out tomorrow. I’ve known for a couple of weeks, but I didn’t want you walking around sulking for my last days at home. I thought it’s better we had a quick goodbye.” I speak the words softly, but inside I’m cringing, hoping she isn’t mad.

“Thomas…” Tears roll down her cheeks. “I know this has been coming. I know you need to go. It’s okay. I’ve told myself it’s okay since we had our first date four years ago. I’ve been preparing myself mentally for this. You will be great and you will do good in this world.” She leans forward and places a wet kiss on my mouth. I can feel her tears on my face. I love her so damn much it hurts.

“Baby, I love you. I’ll probably be gone for a while. I’ll try to stay in touch as much as I can but I’ve been told that I may be off radar for long periods of time…” I pause because my next words aren’t easy. I take a deep breath. There really is no easy way to say this… She’s young and beautiful and we fell in love and married young. If something were to happen to me she needs to know that she needs to move on.

“Don’t say it, Thomas.” Her tears continue to fall and she nods. “You’re it for me, baby.” She says it adamantly and I believe her. I was her only boyfriend and her first everything.

“Halo, listen to me.” My thumb grazes her cheek, wiping away her tears. “I’m a SEAL now. We go on high-risk missions. I need to know that if something happens to me that you won’t check out. You need to find yourself a new husband and make a life. You are nineteen years old and the most beautiful thing I have ever seen walk this earth. I know I’m asking for a lot here, but I need to hear you promise me you will. Now that being said, I promise you that I will do my damnedest to come home to you. I will find you in the dark; you can trust that. Just in case, please say the words.” I beg her as if it’s my least breath. I know she would always keep her promises to me and this one is important. My own tears spill.

I’m a realist. Living a difficult life makes you into one. There are no ifs about it. I wipe gently at her tears and look at her with pleading eyes, chipping at her stubborn walls until they are fully broken.

“I promise.” She nods then claims my lips hungrily. The thought of her being with another man makes me crazy possessive. I know deep down I need to do everything I can to stay alive, but the reality of being a SEAL doesn’t always allow for that. The heat between us ignites and within seconds I yank down my boxer shorts and have my cock buried between her legs as she rocks on top of me. I need to own every inch of her because that conversation about her moving on has just done crazy things to my insides. As I bury myself inside her, I cleanse my mind. There is nothing else—just me and her. The way it should always be.

As far back as R.C. Stephens can remember she was a sucker for a good romance. Of course there had to be a prince charming even if he ultimately was a dark knight and there had to be a happy ending.

She watched the movie Dirty Dancing way too many times growing up and Jean Claude Van Damme movies too. Go figure!
After years of saying she would write a book one day, she finally put pen to paper and carved out the plot line for what would eventually become the best selling Twisted Series. Now R.C. is just finishing up her seventh book and can’t seem to stop the stories running through her mind. I bit my lip. The idea of his lips dancing against my skin had my blood boiling.

But the beard…

“You’d scratch my skin all to hell,” I whined but it was a little breathy.

“Oh Livy.” He said my name in a way that sent shivers down my spine. “Have you ever been kissed by a man with a beard?”

“No,” I admitted.

“God, I’d make it so good for you.” Desire was thick in his voice, and my body responded to it.

“You would?” I couldn’t help myself—the voice, without the visual, spoke to me on a primal level.

“Hell yes I would.” There was a hint of determination, maybe even force behind his statement.

Splooge.

“What would you do to me?”

Synopsis:

She’s holding out for a happy ever after.

Annie

I know where to find my happily ever after—between the pages of a romance novel. It’s why I sell books, why I blog about them, and why I’ll never get disappointed by love. So what if my brother’s best friend from high school is now a bestselling author? Or that he just blew back into town on a Harley, filling out a pair of jeans like he never did before? Or that he’s agreed to do a signing at my bookstore on such short notice? Because despite all his adoring female fans, I kind of hated his book.

Wes

The last time I saw Annie Denning, she was a senior in high school, three years older than me and way out of my league.
Now I’m her last-minute date to a wedding, and what started as a night of pure fun has turned into something more real than either of us anticipated. Annie is my muse. When I’m with her, my writer’s block fades away, and the words finally flow. The only problem? She wants the fairy tale—her very own happily ever after—and anyone who’s read my book knows the truth. I just don’t believe they exist.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I love this series from A.J. Pine and Three Simple Words was another great serving from the Kingston Ale House!

We have Annie Denning, our bookstore owner heroine who is a romance book lover who wholeheartedly believes in a HEA when it comes to love and relationships and then there’s our leading man, Wes Harley, who just happens to be Annie’s brother’s friend who is now a successful (but cynical) author who thinks that he ~ or anyone else for that matter ~ is incapable of ever having a happy ending and that a ‘forever kinda love’ is only found in books!!

I liked that they knew each other previously and that there was an attraction to begin with, even if Annie wasn’t too happy with Wes and his latest book (anti)hero!
Wes wasn’t quite what I expected – he wasn’t as cold and heartless as I thought he would be, beneath all the armour he was kind, thoughtful, caring and quite possibly boyfriend material – even if he didn’t see it himself. He was a little bit broken and through the story we find out why his view on love was so jaded.
Annie was a great balance to Wes. She was determined, sassy, and positive that there was a love out there that would last forever. She had a huge heart and I so wanted things to work out as she believed they could.
Even though they had such different pov’s she was there for Wes, doing what she could to support him through his ‘writer’s block’, giving him the support and confidence that he’d never received in the past from anyone who wasn’t working with him.

I loved the chemistry between this pair, they were fun, hot and sexy when they got together but at times they both frustrated me – at points I could have given them both a shake to make them see what was in front of their faces!!!

We caught up with the other couples from previous books in the series and met some other fun and interesting supporting characters. I cannot wait for Jeremy’s book, Worth The Wait, to see how hard and fast he falls for his ladylove….. whoever she might be!

Although this is part of a series, you could read Three Simple Words as a standalone, though IMHO it would be more enjoyable if you read the books in order.
A fun, well written read that had me laughing, sighing, fanning myself and keeping everything crossed that this pair could get on the same page and find a future together despite their different views on love and happily ever afters!!! I give this great read 4 HEA stars!

Event planner for the rich and famous, Lucky Nuñez lives her dream job. But when it comes to love, she’s scraping the bottom of the barrel. She’s dying to have babies, but it seems that’s never going to happen. A chance encounter leads her into the arms of Jared Thomas. He’s a bad boy to the bone. Sexy, seductive, and so domineering, he makes her toes curl. And he’s got dirty talk down to an art form.

Jared Thomas is a ladies’ man, but when he meets sexy Lucky, he knows she’s worthy of more than just play time. Never has he wanted to keep a woman like he does her. He will make her his wife and mother of his children. There’s only one problem: his past is trying to kill his future.

They have more than communication problems playing havoc with their relationship. With trust issues the size of Texas, these two need to open up to each other. That’s if they can stay alive long enough to try.

“We’ve only played one game. Let’s do another.”
Her eyes widened. She opened her mouth but said nothing. Tipping the glass, she drank the rest of her champagne. He wondered if she was feeling the effects of the liquor yet. She’d had four glasses.
She sat in front of him, her legs curled under her. Nerves were no longer visible in her gaze. “Okay, but this time let’s make it more fun.”
“Whatever you want, it’s your game.”
“Cool. Strip poker.”
He choked, cursing himself for taking a drink of his champagne at that moment. “Strip poker?”
She nodded. A sensual smile teased her lips. “You know you want to.”
Hell yeah, he wanted to. He didn’t know what caused the change, but he liked this flirty, self-assured version of her.
Once he’d dealt both of them cards, he watched her brow furrow in concentration. Silence reigned. Both picked and discarded cards, until she glanced up, a provocative grin on her lips.
“Full house,” she said triumphantly and showed her cards. Her lips lifted into a full-blown smile. “Let’s see your cards.”
“If you insist.” He displayed his cards for her. “Four of a kind.”
“Shit!” Her eyes went wide with surprise. “I should’ve stuck to blackjack. That’s my game, but no, I had to go change it up.”
He laughed. The sound of her self-recrimination was too funny to ignore. Her gaze lifted, attached to his, and ignited hunger in his veins.
“So…you did lose,” he teased.
She laughed and winked at him. “That I did.”
His cock, which was still rock-hard from their previous kisses, throbbed. With slow grace, she got to her feet and glanced at him. His throat went dry when she brought her hands up to the back of her neck.
He watched and waited. But the top stayed on. She smirked, as if she knew he’d been holding his breath to see her topless. Yeah, he was a sick bastard and couldn’t wait to get her out of her clothes, but he’d known that from the moment he’d laid eyes on her. She glided her hands over her torso, caressing her full breasts, and down to her waist. He gulped.
Oxygen reeled in his chest. Fire crackled between them, raising the bar in his already painful arousal. She slipped her hands under the slits at the side of her skirt and tugged, until he saw a pair of crimson silk bikini panties sliding down her legs. She bent down, displaying her breasts in a bird’s-eye view. It was the first time in his life he’d hoped for a wardrobe malfunction. Her breasts strained the material of her top until he swore they were going to fall out and he’d finally get to see parts of her luscious body he’d been dying to. But they didn’t.
The panties dropped to the carpet and she kicked them his way. He grabbed the damp silk and glanced up at her.
“There’s your first win. Care to go again?”
He’d kill whoever got in his way. But he couldn’t outwardly show his desperate need for her. A man had his pride. Instead, he kept his face neutral and grinned. “It’s your game, sweetheart. I’m more than willing to go on.”
She kneeled in front of him and sat back on her heels. Knowing she had nothing under the slinky skirt was making it damn hard for him to concentrate on his game. He lost the second round because all he wanted was to slide his hands into the slits at the sides of her skirt and caress her thighs, dip into her pussy and find out how wet she was.
Enticing a woman who wasn’t throwing herself at him was an unfamiliar experience. He went for the shirt and undid each button slowly, all the while keeping his gaze fixated on her.
It was hard to keep the pleasure from showing on his face when she peered at him from under her lashes and licked her lips. Temptation propelled him to kiss her again, to touch her and suck her pliant lips.
“Again?” He was used to being sure of himself, but her heated look stroking his body made him want to roar. Now to control his need to make sure he didn’t fill her with his seed all night long and keep her barefoot and pregnant in a kitchen when he wasn’t even sure she’d be interested in a date with him.
Right now, her eyes told him she’d let him do anything he wanted. He would do it all, because in the back of his mind he knew she would one day be his. The mother of his children. Why wait to get that started?
