Synopsis:

JORDAN

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.

He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.

He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.

I have to stop this. It can’t happen.

My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.

Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.

I am.

PIKE

I took her in, because I thought I was helping.

She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.

As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.

The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.

But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.

And her boyfriend’s father.

Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

*BIRTHDAY GIRL is a stand-alone, contemporary romance suitable for ages 18+.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I started reading this book at 0200 this morning, had to catch a few hours sleep and then read devoured the rest of Pike & Jordan’s story at every opportunity while at work…….

My overwhelming feeling is still FUUUUCK!!!! I ADORED this book…. going in I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect but hells bells, it was everything you’d want from a Penelope Douglas book and so much more!

I wanted this pair together from their first meeting, then when Jordan and Cole moved into his dad’s home I desperately wanted him to mess up so much that Pike and Jordan would have a chance, because together they were fanbloodytastic!

This books pulled at all of my emotions. It made me smile, laugh, twisted my heart, had my stomach in damned knots – I wanted things to work in their favour soooo much it hurt at points – and I’m not afraid to admit that it made me cry (thankfully not big ugly snot tears – ‘cos as I said I read a lot at work – but the waterworks did start!). This book was hot as Hades, the connection and attraction between Jordan & Pike was palpable and even though there was a 19 year age gap, at no time did their interactions or relationship make me feel uncomfortable!

Well written as ever, with a great supporting cast – I loved Cam and Shel while I could have happily obliterated Pike’s ex (Cole’s mom).  Birthday Girl was so very different from what we’re used to from Penelope but it’s a fantastic read and one I definitely recommend you give a go and it gets 5 big scented candle stars from me!!
