On Monday morning, Jill overslept.
She set her alarm for seven, but it was seven thirty-five when she finally woke up. As soon as she registered the time, she flew out of bed and ran to the bathroom.
She hated being late. As much as it annoyed her when other people were late, she hated it even more when it was her.
She took a three-minute shower, grabbed an outfit that wouldn’t take any effort to pull together—a knee-length A-line dress in a vintage print—and snatched a handful of jewelry that might possibly work with it. She’d barely gotten her shoes on before she was rushing into the kitchen to get some coffee.
Michelle was at the counter with her laptop as she always was, eating cereal and working. But what surprised Jill was finding that Lucas was up too.
He didn’t have to work. He didn’t have a schedule. He could still be in bed.
But there he was, sitting at the counter with a cup of coffee, putzing on his phone. Wearing nothing but a pair of old sweatpants. His hair was mussed, he needed to shave, and he wasn’t wearing a shirt.
So the first thing Jill saw as she came into the kitchen was a whole lot of gorgeous male back and shoulders and arms.
She didn’t need to see that this morning.
She dumped her pile of jewelry on the counter as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
“Morning,” Lucas said, sounding friendly and casual.
What was he even doing up this early?
And why did he have to sound so awake? Awake and masculine. Awake and masculine and sexy.
First thing on a Monday morning.
She did her best to suppress a snarl.
“You’re running late,” Michelle said, without looking up from her laptop. “Did you oversleep?”
“I don’t want to talk about it.” Jill was trying to drink her coffee and put on her earnings, bracelets, necklace, and rings at the same time.
Lucas was watching her with laid-back interest in his green eyes.
She tried not to snarl at him again.
His eyebrows went up slightly, and she realized she must not have done a good job at the suppression.
She turned her back to him, reaching into the cupboard for a breakfast bar. She preferred to eat cereal, but she didn’t have time this morning. She kept her back to Lucas as she gulped down more of her coffee.
“You missed a button.”
She stiffened, glancing over her shoulder to verify that Lucas had been talking to her. “What?”
“You missed a button.” He gestured toward her dress. “You want me to get it?”
“I can get it,” she gritted out, contorting her arms until she could feel which button on the back of her dress was undone. Discovering it, she stretched her shoulders painfully so she could button it.
When she glanced back over at Lucas, she saw that his mouth was tilted up slightly.
He was laughing at her. Silently but definitely laughing.
She didn’t try to hide her snarl this time.
He didn’t have to be up and dressed and at work by eight in the morning. He didn’t have to sit there in her kitchen, looking smug and gorgeous and amused and irresistibly rumpled when she could barely pull it together.
What kind of malicious turn of fate had made him her roommate at all?
When she’d managed her button, she poured more coffee into her cup and took it with her, grabbing her bag on her way out as she left.
She did remember to mumble out a “See you later,” before she closed the door.
It was just the first Monday morning of Lucas living in her apartment.
It was going to be a long six months.

Excerpt 1:
A woman’s voice was on the other end of the line, strained and wary.
“Raul Sá.” He pulled the phone away from his ear to glance at the screen. No traceable caller ID.
“I was calling the Search and Protect Organization.” The woman hesitated. “I’m looking for Arin Siri.”
“She’s working right now. Must’ve forwarded her calls to my line.”
There was a long pause. “This is Mali, Arin’s sister. Please help me.”
Excerpt 2:
When eighty-five pounds of dog is suddenly in your way, you either stop or trip over him. Momentum played a part in Raul’s decision. He fell forward and spread his arms wide to catch himself on the bed rather than accidentally catch a handful of Mali’s towel.
He caught a face full of her towel-covered cleavage instead.
Mali squeaked.
Raul rolled to the side.
Taz barked.
“Sorry.” Jeezus. He tried to get out his apology, his eyes clamped shut. He was not going to remember how good she smelled, a mixture of honey and sea salt and the indefinable, delicate scent of woman. Nope. He wasn’t. Nor was he going to ever think about how nice her cleavage had been. Just enough to bury his face and let him nuzzle without being so full he’d suffocate. The palms of his hands burned with an insane desire to feel her soft skin cupped in his grip.
Mali backed away and then hissed in pain.
His head cleared, and he opened his eyes to see nothing but ceiling. “Did I hurt you? Do you need help?”
She leaned forward into his range of view, one hand clutching the front of her towel over her breasts. That was a really hot image, too. “No. I just sat back too fast and put weight on my sunburn.”
“Oh.” He had no idea what to do. He couldn’t sit up while she was leaning over him and rolling to the side seemed awkward as hell. Of course, so did lying flat on his back in front of a woman in nothing but a towel. “Is there something I can do to get out of this situation without Arin wanting to kill me?”
Mali’s eyes widened, and she froze for a moment, her lips forming a seriously naughty looking O. Then she blinked and laughed. “No. Probably not.”
It was either laugh with her or pull her down for a kiss. “I’m doomed. Dead.” He paused. “Once I get you safely to Arin, that is. No worries. We’ll get you to her before I report myself for molesting her little sister.”
Her laughter faded, and her dark brown eyes sparkled with mischief. “Well, if you’re going to get in trouble anyway…”
She bent then, leaning a hand on his chest, and pressed her lips to his.

Excerpt
Clean-shaven, minty fresh, and unable to stand waiting a second longer, he snatched up the phone and padded into the condo’s master bedroom. The furnishings were comfortable if not a bit generic. The bed was a standard king, which meant he slept diagonally most nights, but the pillows were firm and plentiful. Hitting the recall button with his thumb, he propped a couple against the headboard, then dropped onto the bed. The knot at his waist loosened a bit but held the ends of the towel together enough to keep him decent.
“Hi, Ty.”
The throaty rasp of her greeting did things to him. Stirred thoughts and urges he’d bank for later. For now, he had to set the jumble aside and form coherent sentences. “Hey, sorry I missed your call.”
His lack of explanation might have been a bit of payback. Millie never gave excuses for why she would need to call him back or accounted for her time in any way, so he followed her lead. He didn’t want her thinking he counted down the hours until he could talk to her again. Even if he did.
Playing by the unwritten conversational rules, he opened with an inane yet remarkably telling question. “How was your day?”
She sighed. “Boring. I hate summer session. Campus is like a ghost town in the afternoons. Kate has banned me from her office because I told her I was tempted to release the bikini picture from her honeymoon. I have no idea why she’s being such a pill. If I were built like her, I’d dance a bikini-clad flamenco on top of every swimsuit edition in the athletic department’s secret archive.”
Ty wasn’t sure how he was supposed to respond, so he stretched his legs out in front of him, crossed one ankle over the other, and started in what seemed like the safest place. “Secret archive?”
She guffawed. “Don’t play innocent. I know what’s in the file cabinet at the back of the bullpen.”
He smiled, the image of Millie rifling through the battered metal drawers in search of contraband forming in his mind’s eye. She wasn’t wrong. When the university’s human resources director cracked down on “potentially offensive” materials displayed in the workplace, the warren of cubicles housing the coaching assistants was hardest hit. All calendars, posters, and, yes, a nearly exhaustive collection of Sports Illustrated swimsuit editions were deemed too dangerous for public display. But instead of taking the stuff home, some smarty-pants locked all the loot in a filing cabinet no one bothered to use once departmental records became computerized. A limited number of duplicate keys were made, and being awarded one had become a departmental rite of passage.
At least now Ty had a pretty good idea who’d planted a copy of Burt Reynolds’s Cosmopolitan centerfold in the mix.
“Are you the one who keeps slipping issues of GQ and Esquire in?”
“Not me,” she said in a singsong voice. “But I can tell you people really are crazy about a sharp-dressed fella.”
“Sadly, I don’t think they’re having any impact on Mack or Beau’s wardrobe choices,” he said gravely.
Mack and Beau were the elder statesmen of the Warrior coaching staff. They were known for their love of polyester shorts, snow-white athletic shoes, and, in Beau’s case, striped tube socks color coordinated with whichever polo-collared shirt his wife of over forty years had pressed for him. They were also two of the handful of coaches who’d willingly relinquished their keys to the cabinet. As far as Ty knew, the head coaches declined their copies. He knew far better ways to get shit-canned in professional coaching than ogling two-dimensional versions of scantily clad women. The three-dimensional ones caused enough trouble.
“I’d run away with Mr. Beau if he’d ditch that hussy.”
“Watch yourself. She may look all sweet and charming, but I’m pretty sure Mrs. Beau would claw your eyes out if you put the moves on her man.”
Millie heaved a heavy sigh. “No use. I can’t get the guy to look twice at me anyhow.”
“I have fifty that says he’s looked more than twice.”
Her delighted laugh made the prospect of coughing up fifty bucks on a bet he couldn’t prove one way or another totally worthwhile. “You’re so good for my ego.”

RELEASE DAY BLITZ ~ Baby Maker (A Real Man #17) by Jenika Snow
Posted by Book Loving Pixies
My sister’s friend. That first time I saw Calissa was like a right hook to the face, taking me down until there was nothing left. She was my world.
She’s too young for me, too innocent, but that won’t stop me from making her mine.
There’s no stopping it, no controlling this possessive, primal need to claim her.
I’d have Calissa no matter what, as my woman, my wife … with my baby inside of her.
Calissa
It was a forbidden desire to want your best friend’s older brother, but it was my reality.
Tex was big and strong and a successful owner of a security company. He was definitely all man.
I’d thought he’d never see me as anything more than his sister’s friend. How wrong I was.
No more longing gazes or fantasies we were together.
He knew what he wanted out of life and apparently that was me … pregnant with his child.
Warning: This hero really knows what he wants and that’s the heroine and getting her knocked up! But no worries, this story is still sweet–even if it is filthy–and you still get that Happily Ever After.
She’s real. This is fucking real.
“Are we really doing this?” she asked softly. “Is this really happening?”
Oh. Fuck. Yeah.
“It should have happened a while ago, Calissa. I should have made you mine when I first realized that’s what I wanted.” I took a step closer. “It was at the eighteenth birthday party. You’d been standing there in a white sundress, your hair piled high on your head, those little pearl earrings catching my eye.” I looked into her eyes. “You remember that night?”
She nodded slowly.
“I wanted you right then and there. I wanted to take you to an empty room, pull your dress up over your ass, and slide my cock deep into that tight little pussy of yours.” I reached out and touched her cheek, her skin warm, smooth. “I wanted to claim that tight little cunt of yours, and the way you looked at me, I know you wanted that, too, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” she said breathlessly.
I moved closer until I could reach out and touch her. I had my hand on her cheek and stroked my thumb along her jawline. I was glad Megs caught us. I was glad she gave her blessing, so to speak. That would have been a hurdle we had to cross later on, but now it was done, sealed. I’d left Megs’ with Calissa in hand, telling her I wanted us to talk, to really understand what was going on. If sex happened tonight than it was meant to, but if not … well I was a fucking patient man. Especially when it came to Calissa.
“How does this feel?” she asked, her voice a whisper.
“It feels pretty fucking incredible. It feels perfect.”
I didn’t stop touching her jawline. I wanted to touch more of her … all of her. She slipped her tongue out and ran it along the swell of her bottom lip. And I lost all semblance of the self-control I’d been holding onto. I lowered my head, moved slightly toward her, and knew if I allowed myself to kiss her, I wouldn’t be able to stop.
Jenika Snow, a USA Today bestselling author, lives in the northeast with her husband and their two daughters. She prefers gloomy days, eats the topping off of her pizza first, and prefers to wear socks year round.
