Her wishes dissolved in the darkness…

Jennifer Mitchell grew up knowing what she wanted out of life, and she didn’t let anyone dissuade her. But not all wishes come true. After years of blaming herself for a horrifying experience, she feels her dreams are forever shattered. Attempting to move forward, she searches for someone who can help her escape the nightmare of her past. Many have failed, but now the one person she has sworn to ignore has dared her to dream again and won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. Can she trust him? Will this choice be the final piece to her heart, or will it be the one who shatter her life into total disrepair?

His wishes struggled to find light…

Tyler Cranston’s life was planned for him at an early age. He lived his life to please others, only to have everything go tragically wrong. Now as an adult he chooses his own path, living and playing hard and earning a playboy reputation along the way. But being carefree isn’t as ‘freeing’ as he thought it would be, and he longs for something more. Now once again he’s willing to do anything to make someone else happy, but she believes she’s happier without him. How can he prove he is worth the risk when he isn’t even sure himself?

Through tears and whispered wishes in the dark, can Jennifer and Tyler become the light for each other and turn their ordeals of the past into dreams for a future?

Damn! Damn! Damn!

My mental swearing pulsed in rhythm with my rapid heartbeat as I hopped around on one foot, nervously trying to shove my right leg into the uncooperative leg of my shorts. Just as I thought I had found success, I bumped into the bottom corner of my mattress and fell forward, face-planting almost on top of a lump shaped like a foot. I sucked in my breath, cursing my clumsiness as I stood up. I glanced over my shoulder at the form stretched out on my bed, but he didn’t as much as flinch.

Phew. Unable to stop myself I gazed at the broad, tanned back that tapered to a narrow waist. The sheet rested just below the slight indentation at the base of his spine. I knew what I’d see if I removed the bed covers – a drool-worthy tight ass and long, muscled legs. I’d felt their power as my hands clutched and squeezed those muscled cheeks while my own demanding legs wrapped around his in an effort to pull him tighter to me. Even now, my heart accelerated at the memory of how he made me feel; not just the multiple orgasms I hadn’t known I was capable of having, but the care he’d given afterward.

Moving my eyes upward, I marveled at how I could see the definition of the muscles in his relaxed arms as they cradled his head under the pillows, unperturbed by the events of last night. In sleep, his lips lost their quirky smile, and his closed lids hid the teasing, arrogant brown eyes; eyes in which I got lost during a particularly vulnerable moment. He looked content and at peace, the exact opposite of how I felt this morning. I ripped my eyes away from their feast and managed to get my shorts pulled up and zipped. With as much stealth as I could manage, I opened a dresser drawer and grabbed the first shirt my fingers landed on.

If I could smack myself with any real results, I would. What the hell had been wrong with me last night? Every guardrail, every rule I’d put into place to protect myself from just such an event had been tossed aside, betrayed by my stupid desires. I’d let him, begged him even, to make love to me. Make love? No, that was more my style. For him, I’m sure it was sex, plain and simple. Well, maybe not plain and simple, more like spectacular and mind-blowing, at least for me. Regardless, how could I have allowed such a thing to happen? Had I drunk that much? You wish you could use that as an excuse, but you knew exactly what you were doing. You’re a first class idiot, Jennifer Marie! Now you’re just one more notch on his bedpost.

Feeling suffocated by my thoughts, I shoved my feet into my canvas slip-ons. I turned to the nightstand and stretched out my hand to grab my cell phone. I stopped when I saw the bottle of pain reliever and two of its contents beside the glass of water he’d set out for me the night before. Why did he have to be so damn thoughtful? And who would have imagined the innocent quest for those little white tablets would bring about more havoc than what they were designed to cure? I tried to stifle the memories they conjured, picked up my phone and tip-toed out of the bedroom.

In the kitchen I found some paper and scribbled out an excuse, a lie actually, and left it where I hoped he might find it. I found my purse and quietly opened the door of the apartment. A next door neighbor with a newspaper tucked under one arm and a cup of coffee in his hand was just opening his door. He paused when he saw me, a knowing grin on his face. He winked at me, confirming that I hadn’t been able to completely muffle the cries of pleasure that had burst past my lips last night. Scowling at him, I hurried down the hall, anxious to put some distance between the man in bed and me so I could figure out how to fix this. Fix? The little hammers in my head ramped up their tapping to full blown pounding as if suggesting this would be no ordinary fix, but full-blown reconstruction time.

I knew I was taking the coward’s way out this morning, but I was doing both of us a favor. In the end, he’d be grateful I’d let him off the hook. Massaging my temples as I rode the elevator down to the lobby, I continued to convince myself it was better this way. Reaching the front door, I closed my eyes and shook my head in disgust. I had always promised myself I would never do the walk of shame, and yet here I was, stealing away in the early hours of the morning. And even then I couldn’t do it right. I mean, whoever heard of anyone sneaking out of their own home after a night of the most mind-blowing sex they had ever had?

M.E. Montgomery has been an avid reader her entire life, and her Amazon account will attest to that fact! Recently, several voices began telling their own stories in her head. After being assured she wasn’t crazy and this was the sign of an emerging novel, she decided to put her fingers to work and started typing, and with lots of encouragement, decided to share Alex, Kayla, and Aiden’s dramatic and heartwarming tale.

Her family considers her adept in most subjects, to include science, history, reading, spelling, and all mathematical studies, which loosely means she is the homework queen to her four school aged children. Fortunately, her biology and elementary school teaching background help her to keep up the expert façade, at least for now.

Although born and raised in the Washington DC metro area, she has considered many places to be called home since she left to attend college in North Carolina. She is a proud Navy wife, setting up hearth and home wherever in the world the Navy sends her husband. When she’s not reading or writing, she loves to go camping with her family, drinking wine on the deck, and romantic getaways when her husband’s work permits.

The Witch’s Vampire (Mystery Springs)

Sophie Waters’ life was turned upside down when her mother passed away from cancer but the news her father and aunt delivered to her after the passing was far more devastating and unbelievable. ‘You’re a witch doctor, a healer, and you’re needed here to help protect the supernatural inhabitants of Mystery Springs.’

‘Like hell,’ was her response but the moment the witches unlocked her powers there was no way she could deny the truth. And the moment she met her vampire prince there was no way she could leave Mystery Springs even if she wanted to.

From the moment the powerful and terrifying Giovanni Mancuso spotted the spunky girl in ripped jeans, green cotton hoodie with her jet black hair in a ponytail and her green eyes covered by black cat glasses he was lost. She was not like the other girls that frequented his nightclub. She was different on so many levels. The moment his eyes connected with hers his soul knew she was important.

She was his soul mate, his first love, a love lost centuries ago. Only she was different; stronger, powerful. Sophie and Giovanni explore their feelings while they attempt to uncover the secret behind acts of war on the supernatural people of Mystery Springs. Together they will face off against dream assassins, death, ghosts, gods, and their own families to save the small Colorado town and find a path back into the safety of each other’s arms.

Past lives collide in this paranormal romance with mythological consequences.

To Love a Dragon (Shifter Love Tales)

Homicide Detective Charity Holiday comes across some interesting characters when she works on a murder case of a stripper. One of those characters happens to be her mate. Working together with her dragon mate and his shifter community they uncover a conspiracy of mythological proportions.

Malick Pendragon isn’t thrilled when his mate, who happens to be a witch, walks into his life. The timing is completely wrong. He lets her walk out of the roadhouse deciding to pursue her at a later date. What he doesn’t expect is her life to be threatened or that he’d have to save her or risk dying himself.

The Dragon’s Succubus (Demon Fairy Tales)
Being a princess is a pretty amazing job, that is, unless you’re a princess of the Underworld. Alleyah “Lee” Jenkins is the daughter of Hades and a human woman, Joanna. Her birth left her an orphan in the human realm. When she hit adolescence, she came into her succubus powers and learned the truth of her birthright. She was destined to marry a demon prince and together they would rule the thirteenth level of the underworld. She had different plans.

For the next twelve years she hunted and dispatched demons to the underworld, honoring the memory of her human mother and clearly stating her opposition to taking her throne in the underworld. When she meets a bounty hunter named Connor MacGregor, her world is turned upside down. He is tasked with the duty of bringing her to justice for a crime she didn’t commit. His family honor, and the lives of his siblings, depend on him accomplishing his goal. He didn’t, however, expect to discover she was his mate!

Rayne’s Thunder (Part One) Master Chef (Dating a Werewolf)
Dating a werewolf can get a little hairy, literally and metaphorically. Rayne Manchester’s suitors learn this pretty quickly. Rayne and her siblings, Rhyme and River, have been through a lot lately, and the loss of their father was only more fuel for the firestorm that is their lives.

Grief offers a subtle salve to the drama that eats up their existence and leaves them spinning like a tornado, but when their uncle reads their father’s last will and testament they discover things are only going to get worse. The will divides the massive estate equally, but there is one catch; all three must be mated and married one year from their father’s death. If even one of them fails in this mandate, none of them will inherit! Estranged, the siblings will now be forced to help each other.

Rayne’s Thunder is Rayne Manchester’s journey toward finding a mate and walking down the aisle. Upcoming, Rhyme’s Reason and River’s Fire are River and Rhyme’s stories to happily ever after.

In Rayne’s Thunder, Part One: Master Chef of the Dating a Werewolf Series, Rayne meets her first suitor, Brick. Their date goes well until payback is delivered for the disrespect the two made to the new alpha. Immerse yourself in this series, the characters, and their world. They’re waiting for you to join them on their adventure.

Lone Wolf Rising (Winters Saga)
Vampires, witches, and werewolves, oh my!

Revenge has deadly consequences. Seventeen year old Rebecca Winters’ main goal for ten years has been to graduate high school and take down the people who murdered her parents. When she stumbled upon a werewolf pack in the middle of Phoenix, Arizona she knew she found a way to make her dream come true.

Instead of getting vengeance, an act of war has put her into a position of power and forces her to put her thirst for family justice on a temporary hold. The two incredibly sexy guys vying for her attention only complicates matters more. She doesn’t have time for romance but the heart wants what the heart wants and the wolf gets what the wolf wants.

While Rebecca manages to keep her head above water as she unlocks political and family secrets which could destroy her, she loses sight of the most important people in her life and one of them pays the ultimate price.

Father Made Me Do It (Demon Ascension)
Charm Livingston’s life is hell, literally. As a vengeance demon, she resides in the underworld until a furious soul calls upon her to exact revenge in exchange for ten years in hell. Being a demon is bad enough, but as the daughter of the devil himself she has very little wiggle room for escape. And escaping is all she’s ever dreamed of, leaving the bowels of hell and becoming human is the one dream she knows she cannot have… or can she?

When a man is murdered by one of her fellow demons, the now grieving fiancé calls upon Charm for help. Charm’s psychometric power helps her replay the events leading up to the man’s death. In the midst of arranging justice for her client she meets the angel that was the killer’s target. He’s injured and she saves his life, despite the repercussions her actions could have on her own soul. Daddy dearest wants the angel dead, and she derails the devil’s plans.

In return, the angel agrees to help Charm with her greatest wish, except that ascension isn’t going to be easy. She’ll need to pass through the thirteen levels of the underworld by passing thirteen tests in order to overcome the realm of purgatory and reach the Hall of Akashic Records where her soul can be reborn.

In Father Made Me Do It, she faces her first test and begins her journey from the underworld to mortal life while she continues to carry out her duty as the justice demon. The fine line she treads is fraught with danger, and her naivety in human ways will take readers on an emotional roller coaster of tears and laughter.

Jesse still thinks marriage is in the cards, and Rafe is a devilishly handsome distraction she doesn’t need. She can’t decide if he hates her or wants to kiss her. USA TODAY bestselling author Lily Graison writes historical western romances and dabbles in contemporary and paranormal romance. First published in 2005, Lily has written over a dozen romance novels that range from sweet to spicy.

She lives in Hickory, North Carolina with her husband, three high-strung Yorkies and more cats than she can count and is mother of two and grandmother of three. On occasion, she can be found at her sewing machine creating 1800’s period clothing or participating in civil war reenactments and area living history events. When not portraying a southern belle, you can find her at a nearby store feeding her obsession for all things resembling office supplies.

Cynthia Woolf is the author of fifteen historical western romance books and one short story, and one novella with more books on the way. She was born in Denver, Colorado and raised in the mountains west of Golden. She spent her early years running wild around the mountain side with her friends.

Their closest neighbor was one quarter of a mile away, so her little brother was her playmate and her best friend. That fierce friendship lasted until his death in 2006.

Cynthia is an avid reader. Her mother was a librarian and brought new books home each week. This is where young Cynthia first got the storytelling bug. She wrote her first story at the age of ten. A romance about a little boy she liked at the time.

Cynthia loves writing and reading romance. Her first western romance Tame A Wild Heart, was inspired by the story her mother told her of meeting Cynthia’s father on a ranch in Creede, Colorado. Although Tame A Wild Heart takes place in Creede that is the only similarity between the stories. Her father was a cowboy not a bounty hunter and her mother was a nursemaid (called a nanny now) not the ranch owner.

Cynthia credits her wonderfully supportive husband Jim and the great friends she’s made at Colorado Romance Writers for saving her sanity and allowing her to explore her creativity.

Jacquie Rogers – I’m a former software designer, campaign manager, deli clerk, and cow milker, but always a bookworm. Reading is my passion–westerns, fantasies, historicals of any era, and all with a dash of romance. If an author can make me laugh, I’ll buy every book he/she ever wrote.

While I’m a country girl by birth, I currently live in suburbia with my very patient husband (important point: we are the staff of one cat) I don’t think you can ever take the country out of a girl’s heart. That’s probably why my stories often take place in Idaho where I grew up. (Hearts of Owyhee series and some of my short stories, too.)

On my website at http://www.JacquieRogers.com you can find lots of Bonus Features for my stories and other fun stuff. Please let me know if you’ve posted a review and I’ll give you a sneak peek into my next book.

Nikki Lynn Barrett I’m an avid lover of books. I’ve been writing as far back as I can remember, completing my first “book” by fifth grade in one of those one subject spiral notebooks. I have a passion for music, photography, jewelry and all things creative. I live in Arizona with my husband and son, but dream of being somewhere much colder and stormier. For now, I’ll have to live that life through my characters and stick it out with the summer heat.

Kylie Gilmore is the USA Today bestselling romance author of the Clover Park series and the Clover Park STUDS series. She writes quirky, tender romance with a solid dose of humor.

Kylie lives in New York with her family, two cats, and a nutso dog. When she’s not writing, wrangling kids, or dutifully taking notes at writing conferences, you can find her flexing her muscles all the way to the high cabinet for her secret chocolate stash.

USA Today bestselling author of the Heroes of Henderson Series. Liz Kelly‘s Heroes of Henderson series grew out of the New Year’s Eve Anthology, Countdown To A Kiss, where the Devine Sisters of Henderson, N.C. had a bet every year at their parents’ New Year’s Eve ball. The sister who didn’t have a date to kiss at midnight had to kiss their nerdy neighbor, Lewis Kampmueller.

Duncan James, the hero of Liz’s novella in Countdown To A Kiss (which has also been published separately as Playin’ Cop) is not only best friends with Lewis, but with both Brooks Bennett and Vance Evans, his fraternity brothers from NC State. Brooks and Vance are the Henderson cops who kick off the series with Good Cop and Bad Cop.

Recurring characters is the theme of the Henderson series. Each book is a complete romance in and of itself, but you won’t lose touch with the couples you fall in love with. They keep playing big parts and small in following books as Brooks and Vance lead Team Henderson in finding ways to revive their small town.

“DuVal Cousin” books are an additional part of the Heroes of Henderson series, and usually are tucked in between books with numbers like 2.5 and 3.5. They can be full length novels or short novellas, and they are based on Lolly DuVal’s (from Good Cop) Henderson cousins. Where the Heroes books are hero-centric, the DuVal Cousin books are heroine based.

Henderson is an actual town in North Carolina where some of Liz’s favorite people were raised. Liz’s version of Henderson is completely fictional since she hasn’t had the pleasure of going back in nearly thirty years. But oh the fun she had while visiting there in her youth. Her memories are the perfect landscape for her contemporary romances.

Liz enjoys putting friends and readers in cameo appearances in her books. Originally from Baltimore, she spent every summer near Annapolis, Maryland in a community where dancing and romancing are literally part of its theme song. (The place where Jesse James gets banished from in Bad Cop. There is going to be a series about that place someday.)

A graduate of Wake Forest University, where she met her handsome golf-addicted husband, (who is now sporting dark glasses everywhere he goes) Liz is a mother of two grown sons (also sporting dark glasses) and a miniature Labradoodle named Isabelle. They live in Chicago during the summers, and the Fountain of Youth, a.k.a. Naples, FL in the winter, where dancing and romancing continues on ad infinitum.

Wendy Ely is a USA Today bestselling author, who writes some romantic suspense, really hot stories, and the wonderful happily-ever-after. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her two teenagers, and two crazy cats. When she isn’t busy writing new stories, she enjoys time outdoors by taking trips to the hot desert or swimming at the lake.

Magda Alexander loves piña coladas and walks in the rain. Okay, enough of that. Rewind.

Magda loves reading steamy romances which she’s been doing since she was ten. Ummm, that’s not quite true. Steamy romances did not exist when she was ten, and if they had, she’s pretty sure her mother would not have allowed her to read them. She did read the hand-holding, longing glances kind, along with her catechism, which got her into trouble more than once. Mother Superior was not amused.

As soon as sexy romances came into existence, thank you Rosemary Rogers, she’s been lapping them up. So when it came time to write one, guess what she wrote. A no-brainer, right?

Magda, a lifelong learner, graduated from the University of Maryland where she majored in Business Administration (because her family had to eat) and minored in English (because she needed to dream). She’s lived in Maryland most of her life and now resides close to the Catoctin Mountains in a city whose history dates back to colonial times.

With that, he removed another blanket from the back of the saddlebag. “Here, place that over you.” He picked up the saddle and sat it down on the east side, which did help block the breeze that was starting to blow colder. He stretched those long legs out on the ground and put his arm over the saddle, propping himself up to look up at me. His long, blond hair seemed to glow in the light. The nearness of him made my skin tingle and my pulse race.

After a pause in which the night sounds combined into a symphony, Garrett took a long drag from his cigarette. He looked at me, eyes raised and moving from my chest to my face. Even with the blanket over me, it felt as if he could imagine me naked. As he looked at me, he whispered, “What I want to know, as a man, is why you aren’t wearing a corset and why your breasts are in some kind of harness.” He exhaled the smoke slowly and continued, “But, as a gentleman, I’d best not be asking about such things. Why don’t you explain to me what you do in Atlanta all day?”

The wind whipped around my face and I knew he could hear my heart pounding in the stillness of the night. What a sexy thing to say. Is he attracted to me too? I felt the sky going dark before I was able to respond to his question.

The sensation of Garrett taking my face in his hands brought me to the surface. “Girl, I can’t let you lose consciousness yet due to the injury to your head. Stay with me now. We are going to keep you awake by talking. Don’t you be passing out on me or going to sleep.” He revived me by patting my face with his hands and massaging my throat with his long fingers. He removed one hand and inhaled from the cigarette, blowing the smoke directly at my nose and mouth.

“Why did you do that? That tobacco smells terrible,” I said.

“It works every time. I knew that it would revive you.” He laughed. “Now go on. Tell me about yourself, seeing how we are stuck out here in the middle of nowhere with not much else to do.”

When the doors open, I see a giant of a man occupies it. He’s easily six foot five and takes up most of the height of the elevator. He has the same blue eyes and raven colored hair as Stacy. He looks up from his phone, and our eyes lock. A slow smile spreads across his face.

“Going down?” he says with a grin on his face as if he knows he is God’s gift to women.

“I will catch the next one.” I answer sarcastically.

He nods then lets the doors close. I finally take a breath. Holy shit! It’s my dream man, the lumberjack version of Ian Somerhalder. My heart feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest. The man in the elevator must be another figment of my imagination. Yes, that’s it. It’s just like when I saw the girls in the theatre. After a few minutes the door dings and opens, I step forward but stop. The man is still in the elevator. I step back from the door. Nope, it wasn’t my imagination. He’s real, and he seems to like riding on the elevator. I look right then left for the staircase. This man makes me nervous.

“Are you going down, sir? I don’t like being in confined places with strangers. Can you please just take the elevator down and get out. I will take the next one.” His gaze travels from my head to my feet and then back up.

His voice is deep and seductive. “Get in the elevator,” he says in a husky voice.

I take another step back as he takes a step forward.

“Easton.” I hear a voice behind me call. While he is distracted, I barely make it into the elevator as the doors close.

“Fuck!” he shouts, but it’s too late. The elevator has already started its descent. Out on the street, I let myself feel discouraged. I pictured exactly what I wanted, but now that’s not an option. Okay, Kennedy, time to put your thinking cap on.

I make it into the parking garage when I feel a hand grab my shoulder. On reflex I slide my foot back, knock him off balance, then grab his hand and bend it back, applying as much pressure into his pressure point as I can before taking him to the ground in an arm bar. I hear footsteps, and I look up to see a security guard with a perplexed looked on his face.

“Mr. Kerrigan, are you ok, sir?” I release his arm and stand up brushing myself off.

“I don’t like being touched. You shouldn’t sneak up on women in parking garages.” Easton looks more angry than embarrassed. “I’m going now. Don’t follow me.”

“Sir, do you want me to detain her?” the security guard asks.

“If either of you take a step toward me, I will snap your neck before you ever lay a hand on me!”

I turn around, get in my truck and gun it out of the parking garage.

“Momma, can we go to the park tomorrow?”

Mon trésor, I shall even buy you ice cream!”

“Really, Momma?”

“Yes, my love, now close your eyes and remember, my heart. Il n’est rien de réel que le rêve et l’amour.”

“I love you, Momma.”

“I love you too, Estelle.”

Momma and Papa are yelling again.

“Please, Edwin, this does not have to be our life! We can go to France, or to Argentina, and have a life away from these men you have gotten involved with. Please, Edwin! I beg you, do it for me and Estelle.” I hear Momma say.

“You don’t understand, Celine. I have power here—money and wealth! What, you think I will go back to Argentina to work for my father? Working in his fields, harvesting grapes? These are the hands of a businessman, not a farm hand. We can’t go back to France! You have no family, you will never dance with the Paris Ballet again, what would you have us do, Celine?” he yells.

“Anything but this, Edwin. You are becoming someone I do not even know! You come home with blood on your clothes, or smelling of liquor and cheap perfume. This is not a life to raise a child in.”

“Celine, you see this beautiful mansion you call a home and the fine clothes you wear, the people that clean this house for you and cook your meals? Next time you go to your fancy shops you remember the blood on my clothes put that money in your hands.”

“Edwin, please!” Momma says. I hear noises, Papa is hurting Momma again. I hear her begging him to stop, so I get out of bed and tiptoe out of my room. I see him hitting Momma with the belt. Papa turns around and I run back to my room.

Mon trésor, wake up my love.”

“Momma?” she has her coat on.

“I’m sleepy, Momma.”

“I know, my love, but we must go! Come quickly!”

I take my Momma’s hand, but when we step out of my room, I see my Papa; he looks angry. “Celine, where do you think you are going?”

“I’m taking Estelle and we are going away. You can live in this giant house with your secrets and your whores, but my daughter will not be raised like this.”

Mon trésor, I want you to sit on your bed. I will come to collect you as soon as possible.”

Momma closes my door and I hear the shouting, so I open the door and look. Papa grabs Momma by her coat and throws her down the stairs. I hear Momma scream, then I hear nothing.

I make my way out of my room to the stairs. I see Momma laying at the bottom of the stairs; she isn’t moving and her eyes are open. I know she isn’t asleep. I see my Papa on the phone, and a few minutes later two men come in with a blue plastic sheet. They put Momma on it and carry her out. Papa follows them out the door. I wait on the stairs for Momma to come get me, but she never comes back.

KATIE IN DENVER
(PUBLISHED OOCTOBER 10, 2015)

Katie Blackwell loved Michael Kerrigan from the first moment he stopped her at an outdoor festival. She was fourteen and he was sixteen. For two years Micheal and Katie were inseparable; they were each others first loves. They experienced all their firsts together.

Finding out she is pregnant at sixteen was not part of Katie’s plan. When she tells Michael, he informs her that he has been accepted to an ivy league school; he has no intentions of staying in Denver to play the role of teen dad.

Scared and alone Katie has to decide if she is going to terminate her pregnancy or keep the baby she already loves.

Nine years later Katie and Micheal will cross paths and past secrets will come to light. Can mistakes be forgiven? Can first love be rekindled, or will past heartache and betrayal be to much to overcome?

“Please come this way,” the nurse says. “We need to do an ultrasound to determine how far along you are. If you’re under nine weeks, you can choose to take the abortion pill but if you’re over nine weeks, then you need to have an in-clinic surgical procedure.” I can feel the panic starting to set in. The nurse takes my hand.

“Listen, you haven’t made any decision yet. You can walk out of here right now if that’s what you want.” I nod but don’t respond.

I just sit on the examining table in silence. The nurse instructs me to pull my shirt up, and she squirts some kind of gel on my stomach; it’s really cold. Slowly, she moves the wand around.

“You look to be about sixteen weeks so if you wanted to proceed today it would have to be a surgical abortion. I can explain the procedure, we have a coach that can come in and hold your hand while you have the procedure,” she says with a smile that doesn’t reach her eyes.

I look at the small dot on the screen and then she turns a dial, and I hear it: I hear my baby’s heartbeat and everything becomes so clear to me.

She goes to turn it off when she sees the tears running down my face, but I grab her hand. “Please, I just want to hear it a little longer.” I reach my hand out and touch the screen. She is clicking buttons, and I see pictures coming out the side of the machine. I don’t even ask for them, I just snatch the pictures from the machine and grip them for dear life. I want to remember this moment; I want to remember the moment I stopped living for me, and I started living for my child. I look at the nurse and start getting off the exam table. “I’m not doing it, can I please go?”

She smiles. “Yes, let me get you cleaned up and you can go. You have a few more weeks if you change your mind,” she adds.

“No, I know I want my baby even if no one else does. Thank you for being so nice,” I say before running to the waiting room.

Writing a book takes a lot of energy not just the energy of the person telling the story, but the Editor, Proofreader, Beta Readers, ARC Readers, Cover Designer, Formatter, and bloggers or Promotional Team. You can’t write a book for free an author has to pay for those words in a Plain Document to become something on your Kindle App or in your Hand.

As a writer, you don’t expect everyone to LOVE or even LIKE what you write, but writers don’t write to be praised they write because they enjoy it and it’s satisfying. when your see something that was in your head transformed into an actual book the feeling is indescribable. I remember when I was young I use to think I would be a writer when I grew up up like most adults learn, Life happens and you have to put aside your childish dreams and work, provide, sacrifice. I live in this real world where every day is is struggle, so I made up a world of Billionaires and Superstars, in my books with all these characters beauty and charmed lives they still face semi-real life situation that is why I write fiction, it suppose to be over the top and unbelievable, if anyone has found any real life Werewolf or Bear shifters let me know!!!!

So with that said no matter how many one star reviews I get I will still keep telling my stories, you don’t have to love them and you don’t have to like them and I might be the worst author in the history of Amazon, but that’s okay because I’m doing what I told my younger self I couldn’t do.

Overcoming the past and finding love.
Alexa has high expectations for herself. As a third year medical student, she is on the path to become valedictorian of her class and she has baggage–really big baggage.
Enter Dex…Dex is a self made man. Having overcome a difficult past, he works hard to be a success and enjoys the fruits of his labors. That is until the day they literally run into each other.
Neither Alex or Dex has the time or inclination for a relationship but they strike up an unlikely friendship. The chemistry between them becomes too much for them to deny and they become lovers. But the issues that Alexa has kept hidden are more difficult to conceal as they get closer and inevitably threaten the Alexa’s future and the future of their relationship.
I loved this book. Both Alexa and Dex are extraordinarily likable and well developed characters. The struggles the characters face and the relationship between them feels authentic. Lisa Eugene once again * manages to balance dealing with sensitive subject matter as she builds a red hot love story. I highly recommend this amazing novel. ~~ Catherine

Wow! Another fantastic read by Lisa Eugene.
This book is not all your happy rainbows and unicorns!
This is deep and heart wrenching, it contains real life situations that affect more of us everyday.
I love Dex and Alexia, but can love be enough to save her from herself?
You see, Alexia struggles everyday, she fights with herself but can she see past herself and her demons to love herself and be loved?
You desperately scream at her to stop, you cry with her and for her and your aches for the both of them.
This is a must read book! ~~ Kimberley

Ms. Eugene handles the very tough subject of mental illness amazingly. I was breathless and had to put it down a few times because it felt like she was in my head.
Alexa is a 4th year med student. The heart break of being a doctor is touched on briefly as she finds out a child that she has been treating is dying. On her way to the hospital she has a car accident with a man she thinks is a complete jerk. Turns out that Dex is a hero even with his own issues. He doesn’t do relationships. He and Alexa become best friends and that turns into an epic love story. The story isn’t pretty at times. After all the subject of eating disorders, mental illness, and physical and mental abuse are throughout the story.
Will Dex be able to help Alexa, find her voice, find her sanity, will Alexa be able to find the help she needs to heal and see what she has to offer the world and see what Dex sees when he looks at her and not what she sees in the mirror.
If you are in the market for dark erotic romance – This one is should be at the top of your list. The characters are stunning, the plot line is fluid and keeps you involved, the subject is dark but dealt with as a reality not sensationalized. I laughed with them, I cried with them, I wanted to die with them and you will too! Want a book that makes you feel – this one will make you feel and make you think! ~~ Melody

RELEASE TOUR ~ Another At Bat by Lyssa Layne

ANOTHER AT BAT
by Lyssa Layne

GENRE: Contemporary Romance
CONTENT WARNING: Some adult content

Pitcher Jace Richards had it all. Fame, status, money, and the perfect girl but it wasn’t enough. Unable to curb his gambling addiction, he lost everything. Now banned from the MLB, he’s struggling to get his feet back on the ground.

Laurel Darbis is the mom to ten-year-old Grey. Her son is her world and she’d do anything for him, including putting up with her cheating ex-husband, Adam. He doesn’t make things easy on her but with her friends and family by her side, she has a strong support system to help her deal with his petty drama.

Grey is about to start baseball with his friends but their coach backs out at the last minute. All of the parents are thrilled when the new coach arrives, everyone except Laurel.

Can the former bad boy tame his ways for the sake of his players? Will the protective mother let down her guard? Either way, no one will ever expect what happens when the two match up.

“Whatever, Ash. You know the chances of me dating are non-existent, especially a jerk like him.” I nod toward the field where Jace stands on the pitching mound, the kids filling in the other positions around him. We turn our attention back to the hottie in the center of the infield.

“Wow, what do you have against him?” Ashley glances at me out of the corner of her eyes. “Oh geez, Laurel, don’t tell me you’re one of the groupies that went to spring training and hooked up with him!”

I swat her leg and laugh. “No! You really think I’d keep that kind of secret from you?”

“Ow!” She rubs her leg like I really hurt her. “You’d better not. If you hooked up with him, you had better give me all the details… and I mean all.”

I turn to face her. “Is your sex life that bad that you have to live vicariously through me?”

“Hell no! I’m just saying that if you ever got in bed with a baseball god like Jace Richards then I’d want a play by play. Don’t get me wrong, Kurtis and I have a hot sex life, but his body is nothing like that.” She nods to the field again and we both subconsciously sigh at the sight in front of us.

“Duly noted, I’ll add that to our friendship pact. If I ever get laid by a baseball god, take notes and tell you.” Giggling, we pinky promise and watch the kids practice. We met in elementary school and some days, we still act like we’re still in fifth grade.

After a few minutes, Ashley asks again, “So for real, what’s your beef with Jace Richards?”

I shrug. “Everything I’ve read about him says he’s a cheater. He cheated his team, he cheated the system, he cheated on that trainer he was dating…”

“Oh, so you hate him because your ex cheated on you?”

Jace winds up again, whizzing another ball past the batter. “You know what they say, once a cheater, always a cheater.”

Ashley lifts her eyebrow. “Well, haven’t you heard, don’t always believe everything you read?”

I bite the inside of my cheek. Ashley has a point, I don’t know this guy. Maybe the tabloids lied about him, maybe there’s more to his story. I sigh, maybe I should give him the benefit of the doubt. Then again, last time I gave a man the benefit of the doubt, I wound up divorced.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

Another at Bat was my first introduction to the books of Ms Layne but I’ve already 1-clicked a couple to my kindle and added a few more to my wish list – I really enjoyed her story, characters an writing style!

Although I didn’t know anything about Jace Richards when I started reading, as I hadn’t read ‘The Right Pitch’, I got the idea pretty early on that he had been a real lad and had some issues to deal with – but even so, I adored him pretty much from the start.
Having messed up big time – including badly hurting someone he claimed to love – he’d been kicked out of MLB and found himself down in Florida coaching a boys team…. not where he thought life would take him it kinda sucked to be him, right?? … except his initial thoughts were knocked on their head when he met Laurel, the mum of one of his young players.

Laurel – I loved her from the get go. She was straight-talking, strong, determined, independent, feisty – and oh yeah, she was hot. She didn’t let Jace pull any crap – with her, the team or himself, she took him as he was (well ok, that wasn’t quite her attitude to begin with but Mr Richards drew her in by letting her see the real Jacen and she began to see him differently)
Our girl had a fair bit of baggage following her divorce and was still having to deal with her ex-husband – boy was he a piece of work, I really couldn’t stand Adam and wished him gone often!!

Everyone (well, almost everyone!) deserves a second chance and Jace turned out to be a really good guy – hell, he was a sweetheart (a smokin’ hot one at that!!) – who does his damnedest to straighten his life out, turn things around and get his girl.
His interactions with Grey and Sam are fabulous – you could tell it was because he genuinely liked the kids and not just because he was trying to get into HotShots pants!! 🙂

The build up of the relationship between the couple was perfect – both had issues that they had to deal with and overcome and I liked that they didn’t rush into things, they took their time and it all felt right and very natural. Lyssa, in my humble opinion, got that spot on!

Another at Bat was a fantastic read – it was sweet, funny, emotional and at times I thought my heart might stop!! Great supporting characters added to the story – the boys especially.

I give AaB 5* and have to say that it’s one of my fave reads of this year!

* Oh yeah, one thing I meant to say…… I totally agree with their thoughts on nipple rings!!!!!  😉  *

T xx

RELEASE TOUR ~ Cole for Christmas by Kelly Collins

COLE FOR CHRISTMAS

AUTHOR: Kelly Collins

GENRE: Steamy romance with an 18+ warning

When Interior Designer Chloe Craig imagined Christmas, her mind overflowed with boisterous family gatherings, trees trimmed in twinkling lights, and doorways adorned with mistletoe. Using her infectious joy, she was determined to soften the heart of her new employer, Mr. Cole, and to bring warmth and cheer to his cold Aspen home.

New to Aspen, Chloe was resolute to start fresh, shaking off a past relationship betrayal. She saw the Cole assignment as her ticket to establish herself professionally, and despite the magnetic lure of Mr. Tall, Dark, and Delicious, she knew to keep her distance.

For real estate mogul, Elias Cole, a broken heart had vetoed celebrating Christmas for years. More Scrooge than Kris Kringle, he was desperate for help so he hired Chloe Craig to bring the once-loved Christmas joy to his home.

But when his personal life fell apart, he needed more than a decorator. He needed a miracle, and her name was Chloe.

Sometimes desire is simply too irresistible to give into, and attraction too hard to ignore. While some girls get presents for Christmas, others get Cole. Could a little Cole for Christmas be Chloe’s wish come true?

What’s not to love about you? You’re hella-sexy, and you’re successful. You obviously take your family commitments seriously, and you have a great . . .” I almost said ass, but I thought better of it. “Personality.”

“I’m hella what?”

I lowered my head in embarrassment. Maybe I should have just blurted the ass part out. Honestly, it was true, and now I had to confess the sexy part, why not get it all out. But I didn’t. I whispered, “sexy.”

When I looked up to see his wide grin, he reached for my hand and squeezed it, and my heart, at the same time.

“We are going to have a wonderful holiday, Chloe Lou Who. You are my Christmas angel.”

We pulled into the airport parking lot. Elias ran around the SUV and helped me out into the frigid winter air. Instead of pulling me toward the terminal, he pulled the collar of my jacket up around my ears and leaned down and kissed me square on the lips. Something about the kiss was so sweet and earnest. Many women had let Elias down around the holidays. I wouldn’t be one of them.

PRESENTING THREE OF HER STEAMY ROMANCES

Original Publication Date: December 22, 2013

In this erotically-charged novella, Lisa Brady Delaney hires her first crush, Tyce Branton, mechanic to the stars, to prepare her classic cars for auction. When they knew each other years ago, Lisa had to make a break to get out of her down-on-her-luck, trailer park life. That break included leaving Tyce in her rear-view mirror.

But now, Lisa needs Tyce to fulfill a promise and every woman needs a good mechanic. Lisa quickly learns Tyce is a hands-on man: in the garage and in the bedroom.

In a story where assumptions prove wrong, Tyce learns that Lisa is now a strong, independent woman who’s left her trailer park existence in the past. Can he put his old anger and humiliation behind him long enough to give this brand-new Lisa a chance?

Tyce Branton wiped his hands on a rag and settled against the hood of the Cadillac coupe. She had great lines, long and lean, with headlights that could stall a man’s heart. Lines that could make a man’s hands itch.

Maybe it wasn’t the car that revved him up after all. Maybe it was the woman closing the back kitchen door of her Tudor mansion. Like the Caddy, her color was cream-and-white blonde while the sweep of her long-lined midsection gave her the look of speed, grace, and agility.

She was possessed of a body a man could drive and drive and drive.

Come to Papa.

And she did.

Straight across the courtyard she came. Her long legs eating the ground, hair flying back just enough to show the pink lobes of her ears, the Widow Delaney approached the middle bay of the three-car garage where Tyce stood.

Much younger than even rumor had it, she was a ripe beauty, made for a man to hold on to. Stretch out over. Sink into. As he drank in the sight of her purposeful approach, Tyce recognized a familiar swing to her walk. The set of her shoulders and the light, graceful flow of her hands by her thighs reminded him of someone.

He straightened immediately, alert to an inner rhythm he hadn’t felt in years. As her sandals hit the cobblestones, he felt an answering tattoo in his chest and farther south.

It was as if he’d seen her walk toward him thousands of times.

But this woman was no recent acquaintance. He’d never even met the deceased husband. So where and when had he met her?

The sandals she wore had slim straps at the ankles. Thin, elegant ankles. Rhinestones glittered on the toe straps. Her legs were smooth and shiny like those of a pampered mistress. Arms loose, her gait was easy but determined. Her breasts were high, firm, probably fake, while her head was set in a haughty way that said she was very much the lady of the manor.

Tilted in just that way, her chin spoke of determination and pride.

Word was she’d demanded his personal attention. His hands and no one else’s would do. This bit of information came straight from the law firm that hired him. No one else’s hands but his. The lawyer had been adamant. Still, if he’d known this woman before, he couldn’t place her, didn’t know how she’d come to ask for him.

But he was about to find out.

To cover his study he struck a match, held it to the cigarette in his mouth, and kept one eye on the Widow Delaney. From what he’d heard, keeping an eye on the widow was the smartest thing a man could do. The old guy she’d married had been taken for a ride.

He flicked the spent match away, drew on the smoke, and watched as she stuttered to a stall about five feet away.

“Tyce Branton.” Her voice, husky and soft, gave him his answer.

His belly dropped, his heart slipped a gear.

“Lisa Brady.” He said her name as a bald statement, devoid of the shock he felt.

“It’s Lisa Delaney now.” After all these years, Lisa Brady was where she wanted to be: which was as far away from where she started as a woman could get.

An erotic romance novella…

A jilted bride…a sexy sea captain…love at first touch

In this companion book to my previous release Body Work, Tyce’s cousin Teri, arrives in the sultry Caribbean for her honeymoon…alone! After being jilted at the altar, Teri’s self-confidence his shattered but her heart is not as broken as she might expect.

At the dock Teri Branton finds sexy sea captain Jared MacKay aboard the honeymoon charter boat she hired. After being ordered to remove her stilettoes, she wonders how to teach this pirate a lesson. But the flare in his eyes answers the one she feels burning inside.

At first sight, Jared dislikes Teri’s New York attitude and 6 inch stilettos, while Teri considers the sea captain a lazy, sexy, interesting way to get her runaway groom out of her system.

Seven days at sea is all she’s got and she’s determined to have the best week she can.

But Jared doesn’t count on his family lore coming true: love at first touch. The snap, sizzle and burn of touching Teri turns his world upside down and his heart inside out.

“Mr. MacKay?” Teri Branton asked pleased at how clear her voice sounded. No one would know from her voice how vicious her day had been. The man on the SandJack twitched as if she’d woken him. She probably had. He had the insolent look of a man used to doing a lot of nothing. His feet were propped against the railing, giving her a worm’s eye view up the back side of his khaki shorts. Strong lean legs, tanned beyond healthy, big bare feet with strong toes and callused soles.

He slid his ball cap to the back of his head, revealing a powerful face. Powerful because his lean nose and slashing thin lips were too cutting to be handsome. But they held her attention just the same. Then he opened his eyes and focused on her.

Cut by the laser blue that stared back at her, Teri’s heart fluttered at the intensity and she took a single step back. Tired of being intimidated, she caught herself before taking another.

“You are the captain of the SandJack?” she asked.

“Take off your shoes.” His voice had a deep timbre that stroked her insides from breastbone to toes, so she wasn’t sure what she’d heard.

“Excuse me?”

“Those shoes,” he tilted his chin down to indicate her feet. “Take them off.”

A fierce light from his gaze burned into hers as he waited.

And then she knew. He wasn’t the captain of this vessel. He was a pirate, a rogue, a brigand. He was danger. And excitement.

A thrill chased down her belly.

She looked at her feet and saw incongruous white satin stilettos with a delicate spray of seed pearls trailing the outside edge.

Her wedding shoes.

She was still in them.

Odd that she’d forgotten to change. When she’d found them after a hunt through every store in Manhattan, a perfect fit, she’d paid a fortune for them. They’d meant a lot to her at the time. Now, they just looked sad.

Stepping wide, she saw the pirate follow her movement, then track the shape of her legs up from her feet to her knees and higher.

Interesting.

He was checking her out. Awareness of her own power gripped her as she numbly regarded her shoes and thought about the pirate’s interest.

The intensity she’d given to the hunt for these perfect shoes was gone as surely as smoke in the wind. With as much substance. It was stupid how her wedding had taken over her life, her every waking moment. Her back felt tired from these shoes, her toes ached from every pair of stilettos she owned. The fatigue seeped from her pinched toes, up her calves and into her lower spine.

She wanted to sag with the weight of her day, but then in her peripheral vision, she saw the pirate move his beer to his lips. He took a sip from the bottle, waiting with obvious patience for her to do whatever it was she was planning to do with the shoes.

She looked at him again and saw the hot blue of his eyes, the long lean length of his legs, the strength in his hands. Then she considered the very private week ahead of her.

She’d decided to spend the time eating too much, drinking too much and mulling her life. But now, this pirate presented another opportunity. An exciting opportunity for overindulgence of a different kind.

After a series of missteps and miscommunication, Kat and Taye come to terms with who they really are and what they want for themselves and each other.

EXCERPT #1

“These come in various colors,” she said, holding up the ropes, “but I’m partial to black.” She threaded one of the ropes over her hand and up her arm past her elbow. The material opened up into the mesh he was familiar with.“Me too,” he said around a thundering heart. “Although white’s nice, too. Virginal.”“Is that what you’d like Taye? A virgin?” She pulled the fishnet down her arm again, slowly, like a stripper removing a long silk glove.

The image was hot, the real woman in front of him hotter.

“Because I could do that for you,” her voice went husky and offered exactly what he’d come over here to get. “Be virginal, I mean.”

EXCERPT #2

Taye climbed out of his SUV and headed to the door of his town house, briefcase in hand. He bent and picked up a package left on his front step. Wrapped in cozy brown cords, he had a great butt, even from this distance, and Kat found several ways a day to see it. From her back upstairs window she’d watch him put out bird seed. Through his tiny kitchen window she’d catch glimpses of him making dinner.

“He’s not a nerd,” Kat said in his defense. “I’m willing to bet under that tweed jacket is a lot of man.”

“You think?” Celia assessed him with her man-hungry eyes.

Kat shifted. A second mistake. Taye’s physique was not up for discussion, not with Celia. She was a shark when it came to getting what she wanted.
