One thing you should know before you judge me;
I saw him first. I craved him first. I loved him first.

RELEASE BLITZ ~ Real Deal (Single Dads Club #1) by Piper Rayne

Title: Real Deal
Series: Single Dads Club #1
Author: Piper Rayne

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Release Date: May 15, 2017

Red Flags…
Too loud.
Too clingy.
Too much make-up.

I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dad’s Club would say I’m obsessed with finding them. But none of their kid’s mothers call a maximum-security prison home either, so their opinions mean shit.

Caterina Santora has her own list of red flags…

She’s too young.
She’s my client’s daughter.
She’s my five-year old’s camp counselor.

Even after repeating this mantra to myself every morning on the way to Lily’s summer camp, guess what happens the moment I see Cat? Yeah, that mantra turns into ride me, doggie style and reverse cowgirl.

Every. Damn. Time.

The fact that she doesn’t remember me from seven years before grates on me until I don’t have it in me to leave her alone any longer. I have to have her. But our lives are opposites in every way. In no way compatible.

When we’re together all the complications fade away and I have to keep reminding myself,
even if I can have her— I can’t keep her.

“Real Deal is a super funny, sweet and sexy romantic comedy that will leave you satisfied from beginning to end!” ~Whoo Gives a Hoot (Aurora Hale)

“Piper Rayne has a way of sucking you in and making you part of the story. Laughs, loves and intense moments are abundant in all of their writing!” ~ White Hot Reads (Heather)

There are at least ten camp counselors currently standing in the water watching the children, and six of them are female. Victor doesn’t understand the epidemic he’s going to have on his hands. The longer I sit there, the more dads find their way down to the lake, thinking it’s an everyday Thursday pickup. To their surprise, it’s a teenage boy’s wet dream. And maybe that teenage boy’s dad’s, too.
Caterina is laughing with another female counselor. I never noticed how her cheeks rise into two small apples when she smiles. Nor did I notice the way her hands cover her mouth to stifle a laugh or how she briefly touches the other person’s arm when she’s amused. Damn, I want to pull that reaction out of her.
But all I’ve gotten this week since camp started is a few polite smiles and ‘hello Mr. Kent.’ She hasn’t acted as though I’ve seen more of her than what that bikini she’s wearing reveals.
“What did I miss?” Dane sits down next to me, trying to catch his breath.
“What the hell do you do all day that you can’t be here on time?”
He glances over to me and then concentrates ahead of him. I can’t blame him, we don’t get views like this in Climax Cove very often.
“Does Victor realize he’s giving every dad here beat off material for tonight?” Dane asks. A few of the dads milling about laugh, knowing it’s true.
A small ball of anger begins brewing in my center. The idea of these dickheads thinking about what’s under the blue bikini hugging Cat’s tits gets under my skin. That beat off material is for me and only me.
“And to answer your question, I had to go down to the county for some paperwork.”
Dane’s been doing some heavy renovations to Happy Daze the last few years, expanding and making it a more family-friendly bar and grill during the day.
“Sorry, that sucks.”
Both of us continue our conversation as we pretend to watch our children. I can multitask though. My gaze veers to Lily to make sure she’s not drowning, but she’s taken swimming lessons since she was one, so I don’t have to worry too much.
“We can talk about that shit later.” Dane waves me off. “Fuck, this is so not fair. How is my kid getting more action than I’ve seen this week?” He bites his fist, watching Toby and his friends pour a bucket of water over his camp counselor’s head. Her yellow bikini doesn’t exactly hide the fact the water might have been slightly chilly.
Lily looks away from the action in the lake, finds me sitting there, and smiles. “Why do I suddenly feel dirty?” I mumble to myself.
Lily runs from the lake and Caterina says something to one of the other counselors and follows Lily’s path. Our eyes lock, but Cat is quick to shift her focus elsewhere.
“Daddy!” Lily screams and jumps into my arms, soaking me in the process.
“Hi, sweetie.” I prop her on my knee.
“Hi, Uncle Dane,” her sweet voice says.
I clear my throat so he’ll turn his attention from the lake to my daughter. Dane turns to me, back to the lake, and then realizes why I’m clearing my throat.
“Hey, kiddo. Swim day, huh?” He leans back on his hands, focusing his attention on her.
“Come.” She jumps down from my lap and grabs my hand.
“No, sweetie. I’ll wait until you’re done. Go have fun with your friends.”
She smiles and runs off.
“Damn, a little warning, huh? I’m practically tucking my dick between my legs,” Dane says and shifts in his seat.
“Um, how do you think I feel?”
“Who’s the dickhead?” Dane asks, head nodding to the lake.
One of the male camp counselors approaches Cat. She laughs at his joke and shakes her head. I don’t miss the way his eyes light up when she puts her hand on his forearm.
“Who?” I pretend my heart isn’t skipping beats from the adrenaline coursing through my system. Just call me a fucking caveman.
“Yeah, okay. Your eyes have been glued to one counselor, in particular, this whole week.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” I glance around to make sure no other parents overheard us.
“Is that how you’re gonna play it?” he asks, turning toward me and raising his eyebrows in question.
I say nothing, watching the dickhead pick up Caterina by the waist, her squealing and him dropping her in the deeper part of the lake. She stands up and now she’s dripping wet in her blue bikini that probably matches the color of my balls.
Once again, I swear her gaze veers over to me as she pushes her hands through her drenched hair. Before I can be certain, she’s concentrating on the kids again. She claps her hands and announces swim time is over for her group.
“Man, your chick is a fun sponge,” Dane says because Toby’s camp counselor is still in a water battle with her kids.
I push off the picnic table to head over to pick up Lily and gather her things.

BLP REVEIW ~ Tracy

For the most parts I enjoyed Real Deal and it was a good read.

I really liked Cat and her friends and how she felt for Marcus and his little girl was obvious. Scenes with Cat and Lily were really good. Having read Jailbait it was abvious just how much Cat had changed and grown up.
Marcus on the other hand, while he was a great dad (if a little overprotective of Lily) he felt a little marty’ish at times… like he had to deny himself a life and future just because of how things worked out in past. I liked him well enough but that was pretty much as good as it got with him.

My biggest bug bear with the story was Dane… bloody hell, this guy is responsible for a child and owns a business… how he actually manages it is a mystery. He reminded me of a pre-pubescent teen pretty much any time he opened his mouth. I’ll read his book but have everything crossed that he sorts himself out and starts acting like an adult!
Dane on the other had I would have liked to see a little deeper into and I’m looking forward to his book a lot, it’ll be interesting to see what Piper Rayne has in store for him.

Not quite what I expected as a story and while I didn’t love it it was worth reading. 3.5*

Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?
We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.

What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We’re both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We’re both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.

D’you ever watch a film and have it leave an impression on you for a while afterwards or read a book that you revisit in your head for days after you’ve finished reading…. THAT’S what Freya Barker’s books do to me every time; they leave me with lasting impressions and a whole helluva lot of feels!!

A Change in Tide is the first story in a new and, what promises to be an interesting series from Ms B.
In this book we meet Mia and Jared. Jared is a recently retired ice hockey player who has moved to the lake to escape the glare and intrusion of the media and get used to living a different kind of life to that he’s been used to. He was a bit of a player but has realised that this is no longer how he wants to live his life, partly because he’s getting older but also due to changes in his family circumstances. I really liked the guy! He was unapologetic for the life he had led and was genuinely interested in changing his ways.

Mia was a real contradiction once we got to know her… A quiet woman, she has sequestered herself away in her cottage, with nigh on no contact with the outside world – with the exception of her friend and the therapist she attends. Terrible nerves, panic attacks and the fear of being outside (apart from walks with her dog, working on her small garden and her valued time on the lake) has led to Mia cutting herself off and that’s just they way she likes it… or so she has led herself to believe.
When faced with Jared and an unusual situation when out on the lake one day she finds that maybe the life she’s been leading isn’t entirely what she needs any longer. Over a short period of time her life takes some unexpected turns that throw more than a few bumps in her up until now quiet life and reading about how she copes and deals with these events made for exceptional reading!

Mia’s fear and anxiety was palpable and her emotional roller-coaster ride with life, and Jared, played out with such depth. Freya’s writing conveys feelings and emotions to such an extent that, for me anyway, it’s like watching a movie reel in my head that’s showing the whole story in full technicolour.

I hate spoilers and you get the gist of the book from the blurb so I’m not gonna say much more about the storyline.

What I am gonna say is that Freya Barker has an immense talent that is terribly underrated.
She is now one of my top 3 favourite authors and an auto 1-C buy (I don’t even need to read the blurb!). I adore the fact that her characters are generally a little older, have emotional (and sometimes mental) baggage, they have lived a life that hasn’t always been easy and through their books they face new & difficult challenges and issues that could understandably send them running in the opposite direction but their strength of character and determination sees them face their fears, whether that’s their first choice or not, and makes them all the more endearing to us!

Packed with great relatable characters, main and supporting, drama, humour, heat and so so many feels, if you haven’t yet picked up a Freya Barker book you are seriously missing out! A Change in Tide would be a great place to start as it is a new series that you can dive into, but in my humble opinion, go back to the Cedar Tree series that was the start of her writing and begin there – I promise you won’t regret it!

Book 1 in the new Northern Lights series gets 5 tide changing stars!

Ghost [gohst] noun: the soul of a dead person, a disembodied, vague, shadowy spirit wandering among or haunting living persons; a mere shadow or semblance; a trace.

That noun sums up Ghost and what his life has become with painful precision. He is barely living, merely existing but never thriving. There wasn’t much that could pull him from the darkness he willingly inhabits…except one thing. Her.

She is the reason he’s done what he’s done, and his life has become what it has become.

He haunts his former life, lurking in the background, surviving on occasional glimpses of the only thing good that is left in his miserable life. The horror he has inflicted upon her is nothing compared to the terror that waits for her when someone moves in to take her from him.

The thing about being stuck in the past is that it is like walking through life backwards. She is always looking back, so she doesn’t see what is happening in front of her. Unfortunately for her, it turns out that the ghosts of the past aren’t nearly as terrifying as the monsters of the future.

They say that true love is like a ghost, something that many talk about but few have seen. It’s a good thing for that, too, because he’ll need that element of surprise to protect her. Hopefully when the dust settles, he’ll be able to resurrect more than just himself.

RELEASE BLITZ ~ Big Bad Bite Returned (Big Bite Series #2.5) by Jessie Lane

Title: Big Bad Bite Returned
Series: Big Bite Series #2.5
Author: Jessie Lane

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: April 28, 2017

Jenna O’Conner and Adam McPhee are happily mated … Or are they?

While Jenna happily wears Adam’s mating mark, she has yet to give Adam one in return.
Adam doesn’t want to pressure his mate, but not receiving one is starting to wear on him.
After Jenna is attacked while on the job as a SWAT officer, they are forced to reevaluate their relationship.
The time has come. Jenna needs to decide if her mate is going to get the big bad bite.

*This is a 10,000 word short story that takes place after Big Bad Bite and Walk On The Striped Side!*

“Have you heard the news?”

Adam’s gaze was glued to Jenna’s moving lips, from where she had her chin perched on his chest. Warm amber eyes, lazy from their love making, watched her inquisitively, waiting for her to finish.

“Gage knocked his mate up.”

The left side of Adam’s lips kicked up in a grin, and he mumbled, “Poor guy.”

It was her turn to be amused. She was about to lay the other half of the story down and knew exactly how Adam would react.

“He did it on purpose, Adam.”

It didn’t take long for his eyes to bug out of his head, and those perfect lips that she loved so much dropped open in aghast. “Why in the hell would he do that?”

Jenna snorted in amusement at her mate’s look of horror. “Careful. If anyone in the pack hears you talking like that, they’re going to think you’re against having kids.”

Strong fingers stroked through her hair, and Jenna’s sense of contentedness magnified. She loved these moments when it was just her and her mate, shutting the world out.

“You and I both know that’s not the case. I love the idea of us having pups one day. Just not right now.”

In a move so lightning quick it had her head spinning, Adam flipped Jenna onto her back on the bed. Spreading her thighs wide, he snuggled their hips together so she could feel his rejuvenated hard length against her sex. She couldn’t stop the moan that escaped her as Adam rocked it up and down her clit, which was still sensitive from the earth-shattering sex they had just finished a few minutes ago.

“You’re trying to kill me,” Jenna moaned.

Adam leaned down and nipped her lip. “Never. Killing you would defeat my master plan of fucking you stupid every day.”

She couldn’t help laughing at his blunt words. It was so like her mate to think with his dick. She knew she owned all of him, including his heart. That didn’t mean she wasn’t going to tease him for being such a man.

“I see how it is. You only want me for my body.”

He ran his lips down her neck to the spot on her shoulder where he had given her his mate mark and kissed it. It was something Adam did all the time, as if he was paying homage to the spot on her body that made her his. “Wrong again, mate. I want to own all of you.”

“You do own all of me.” She then gasped as he slid inside her, filling her with his hard length.

“I know,” Adam whispered in her ear. She thought about smacking him on the ass for being cocky, but then he whispered in her ear, “Just as you own all of me.”

As her mate made love to her again, a little voice taunted her in the back of her head—her wolf. You don’t own all of him. You’ve yet to give him our mate mark.

Big Bad Bite Returned
was a great wee read.

Following on from Big Bad Bite where we first met Adam & Jenna we find them happily mated (well ok, there was one issue bugging the big male wolf shifter – following her rant about equal opportunities when it came to the mating Mark his little she-wolf hasn’t followed through on her end of the bargain!!)

I loved how he wouldn’t tell her what was wrong and left if to her to work out even though it was becoming a bigger concern to the pack Alpha.

I LOVE this series and can’t wait for more Big Bite paranormal fabness from Jessie Lane!

I’ve giving this read 4.5 big bad stars!!!

Truth Alan Reacher was a biker. He was a bladesmith. What he was not, was a fool.

The moment he walked in on his girl screwing his cousin on his bike, he does the only thing he can do.

He ditches the bike seat—and the girl—riding right out of her life without a backwards glance.

That is until he’s forced to attend the marriage of his cousin to his cheating ex-girlfriend. The only bright spot of the entire thing was watching some chick go off on the groom—the groom’s ex-fiancé—right in the middle of the bouquet toss.

***

Verity Ruthann Cassidy was supposed to be here today attending this wedding as the bride, not watching the festivities as a guest from the chairs she’d painstakingly purchased covers for while her fiancé—now her ex-fiancé—screwed around on her with another woman.

The icing on the wedding cake that she refuses to eat? She’s forced to attend the wedding due to her mother being the wedding planner.

However, the night doesn’t turn out quite the way she expects it due to the hot-as-hell biker sitting in the chair directly beside her. The man gave one hell of a speech during the reception that sounded like something that could have come straight out of her own mouth, and she enjoyed every single second of it.

***

Thrown together under similarly lousy circumstances, the two newly single jilted former lovers of the happy couple decide to go to Vegas on what was to be Verity’s honeymoon trip.

One thing leads to another, and the next thing they know, their night has gone from a celebration of being single to a marriage—to each other.

Verity and Truth now have to figure out if everything that happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas.

Dear gods, what is Lani Lynn Vale doing to me?? This series has me hooked to the point that when I pick up one of the books and everything else stops – quite literally, nothing else bar reading gets done and I finish these books in pretty much one sitting!

Son of a Beard is the third book in the Dixie Wardens Rejects. In my opinion the series gets better with each book and I loved reading about Truth and Verity. This pair had me intrigued from the start and I loved seeing how things progressed for them and how things began to change when they finally realised that what happened in Vegas, does on occasion, definitely not stay there!!

I have to admit at times I wanted to strangle our bearded biker for his pig-headedness when it came to Very – attempting to chase her off to keep her safe even if that’s what neither of them truly wanted – but most of the time I was taken with how much he cared for her. I did wish he would open up to her a little earlier but when we found out about his ‘secret’ I kinda got why he was slow to tell her everything. Verity has no filter and at times doesn’t know when to STFU which leads to some crazy scenes. She wasn’t afraid to stand up to anyone when it came to her ‘husband’ and I liked that she wasn’t cowed by anyone, including Truth.

Well written with a good storyline. There was some angst, lets face it, they may be ‘good guys’ but the DW Rejects have all lead a pretty interesting life so there’s always gonna be some kind of trouble waiting round the corner at times I’m sure! As ever the connection and attraction between our 2 leads is hot and heavy, but there was also humour and loads of feels. Catching up with characters from previous books and series in LLV reads is always fun and in Son of a Beard this was no different.

This is another excellent instalment is what is fast becoming one of my favourite series and I can’t wait for Sean’s story in book 4
(I’m Only Here For The Beard)!!

I’m giving this fab book 5 thoroughly deserved stars!!

NEW RELEASE ~ Game Ender (Game Series #4 – The series finale) by BJ Harvey

Title: Game Ender
Series: Game Series #4 – The series finale
Author: BJ Harvey

Genre: Romantic Comedy with Heat
Release Date: April 17, 2017

From USA Today bestselling author BJ Harvey comes the fourth and final book in the Game series
and this time it’s the reformed playboy and the single mom.

***

“You have chlamydia.”

Three words no man wants to hear.

I’ve always been liberal with my appreciation of the female form, a firm believer in the ‘try before you buy’ principle, but living life to the fullest obviously didn’t end well for me considering the unexpected—and very unwelcome—consequence of my free and easy past.

After living through the horrendous experience that was informing my recent sexual partners of my acquired ‘condition,’ I made a vow to myself – and a bet with my best friend—that the next woman I sleep with will be the ‘one.’

What I will learn is that even when something happens and the games come to an end, there’s always the chance of something—or someone—crashing in and changing everything.

So this is my story. It may start with a venereal disease, but I promise you, I’m determined to get my happy ending.

“I’ve narrowed it down to five reasons why a woman would throw a drink at a man.”

He leans back and crosses his perfectly toned arms over his chest.

“Impart your wisdom, oh wise bartender.” He takes another drink of his beer and—yet again—watching me like a hawk. I wish he’d stop watching me.

My confidence wavers under his intense stare but when I catch a knowing glint in his eye, it riles me up. There’s nothing worse than a guy who hides his unease behind a cocky façade, especially when I know there’s something genuine hiding there.

It’s one of the worst qualities a guy can have. It’s disingenuous and fake and if there’s two things I hate—in anyone—it’s that.

I square my shoulders and stand up straight, deciding to let him have it, putting my hands out in front of me to count on my fingers.

“One, you cheated on her.” He shakes his head, an amused smile playing on his lips.

“Nope. Next.”

“Two, connected to the first, you hooked up with her sister, best friend or mother . . .” He snorts at that one, chuckling under his breath as he shakes his head again.

“Right, then, the last three,” I continue. “Three through five are offending her family/job/friends or outfit, asking her to pay for your date and lastly, giving her an STD.”

His eyes grow wide and he sits bolt upright.

Bingo.

My first book by BJ Harvey and it definitely won’t be the last, I’m heading back to check out the other books in the Game series as well as the Bliss series books!

Loved, loved, LOVED Thomas, Amy (and Brody!)

This story was sweet, funny and engaging. Thomas experience with the STD and his subsequent decision all lead towards Amy and I was smitten with how he reacted to her and her son. Their connection, growing friendship and developing relationship all made for a really great read.

I enjoyed meeting the characters from the previous books in the series and am looking forward to finding out more about them in their own stories.

Game Ender is a solid 4.5* read for me!

RELEASE BLITZ ~ Sever (Deathstalkers MC Novel) by Alexis Noelle

Title: Sever
Series: Deathstalkers MC Novel
Author: Alexis Noelle

Genre: MC Romance
Release Date: April 17, 2017

Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, and I’m a damn idiot.
That’s what he does to me.
Ryker. Smith.

The first heartbreak is always the hardest to heal
And those wounds get ripped right back open,
When he walks back into my life.

Seven years,
It took seven long and grueling years,
To get that cocky, leather-wearing bastard out of my mind.
I thought I’d never get over him, never fix what he broke,
And now he’s back,
Every sexy inch of him,
The difference is now I’m taking charge.

This time he’ll be the fool.

Walking up, I see a few guys hanging around and talking so I make my way over to them. Their eyes follow me the whole way and I momentarily regret wearing heels because everyone knows heels and gravel just do not mix.

“You the chick from the accounting place?”
My first reaction is to correct him but I hold my tongue. These don’t look like the kind of guys I really want to mouth off to and, really, in their world “chick” might be considered a compliment. I use my hand to shield my eyes from the sun because squinting is never a good look. “I’m looking for Ryder.”
The name doesn’t seem to register on any of their faces and for a minute I wonder if I have walked into the wrong place. That would be just my luck.
“Megan.” I hear his voice and it still sends chills through me. “In here.”
There’s a click and a side door opens. I walk toward it, feeling the eyes of the bikers on my back like daggers. When I get there, I peek inside. Its’s pretty basic, with only a desk with a computer and a few different piles of papers to fill the space. I step inside, smelling the faintest hint of mildew. It’s unpleasant, to say the least, and I scrunch up my nose.
“Why didn’t any of those guys know who you are?”
He doesn’t look at me. His gaze is on the papers in front of him as he sifts through them, putting some in one pile and others in another. “Because people don’t call me that here, and neither can you.”
“Really?” I laugh. “So what exactly am I supposed to call you?”
He sits down on the corner of the desk. “Tracker.”
I shake my head putting my purse down on the desk.
“Something wrong with my name?” His eyes narrow and my gut twists, reminding me of the nerves I felt in the car.
“Apart from the fact that you aren’t a bloodhound and it isn’t your name?” I cross my arms and jut out a hip. A lot has changed since high school. I’m no longer the pushover I was, and part of that is because of him, and though I might have been hesitant to stand up to the apes outside, the man in front of me is a whole different story.
“It is my name—at least, it’s my road name. It’s what everyone uses here.” He shakes his head and starts turning on the lights before moving to the computer. The screen springs to life, the display showing the same symbol that was on the back of his vest the other day.
“And if everyone jumped off a bridge, would you?” I arch an eyebrow at him. My body might be completely on edge being this close to him, and my mind might be freaking out thinking about all the memories of us, but my mouth has no problem poking the bear.
Ryder takes a few steps toward me, closing the distance between us until we are only a few inches apart. Having him this close makes my heart feel like a jackhammer. “Listen, as much as I like your smart mouth, you need to watch it around here. Respect is important, so while people are around you need to rein that shit in. When it’s just us, run that sexy mouth all you want.” He winks at me before walking past, his arm brushing mine and sending a heat through me.
“You can’t say shit like that to me, Ryder. We aren’t kids anymore. I’m here to do a job and that’s it.” I force my face to harden and wipe all emotion from it before turning toward him.
“Whatever you need to help you sleep at night, princess. Thing is, we might not be kids anymore, but I still know you better than you know yourself. I saw the way you looked at me the other day.” He steps close to me, his head bending down until his lips are close to my ear, the heat of his breath making my legs weak. “I know you feel this as much as I do. I just have to wait until it consumes you and you come begging.”
“Screw you.”
“All in good time.” He winks before walking out the door.

Alexis Noelle lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her husband, and three kids. On top a writing career, she is a full-time student and a full-time mom. She loves spending time with her kids, although she has to hide the computer from them when she is writing! She love being active and being outdoors, especially if it involves any kind of shopping.

She has always been passionate about writing. She loves to read romance books and feels like being able to lose yourself in a book is one of the more exciting aspects. The books she loves to read and write will be ones that make you feel for the characters. Ashley believes that you should have an opinion on every character in a book whether you love them, hate them, or think they are up to something. She also believes that the most important critic is your reader, so she loves to hear from the readers. She want her fans to be open & talk to her about what they want for the characters in the story, and what they would like to see happen.

BLOG TOUR ~ Freeze Frame (A SNAPshot Novel) by Freya Barker and KT Dove

Title: Freeze Frame
Series: A SNAPshot Novel

Author: Freya Barker and KT Dove

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Published:  March 29, 2017
Cover Model: Michael Joseph
Photographer: R+M Photography

A new career, a new place, and a new man—you’d think after the rough year she’s had, Isla has finally found her stride. Of course it’s never that simple. Some dreams she is building, some dreams are taken away before they have a chance to form. But she never imagined that the one thing she’s worked so hard to realize, could be the cause it all breaks apart.

Ben doesn’t miss his assignments, his life of deceit, or his unsavory associations—but they appear to miss him. Just as he’s beginning to think perhaps there’s redemption for him after all, his dark past casts a long shadow.—and not just on him, but on the woman who made him believe.

Loved it. Lots of suspense and a strong Heroine, just like I love to read. Can’t wait for more of this series.” – Reader Review
“I loved the new story line. It is amazing. You will be blown away.– Reader Review
“I love the re-entry of character’s past, and the addition of new characters. This is a MUST-READ in my book!– Reader Review

“Are you watching?” he asks, keeping me once again in suspension as one of his hands slides from my belly, up between my breasts, and curves around my neck.
“I am,” I whisper, just as he drives up with force, stealing what little breath I have.
His pace is furious and I can’t tear my eyes away from our reflection. Ben’s head is down, his attention on the furious piston of his hips, and yet the touch of his hand on my neck stays gentle in contrast. A dichotomy, much like the man. Soft and hard in equal measure.

I’ve loved Freya Barker’s books since I read Slim to None – book 1 in the Cedar Tree series – back when she started her journey as an author. I still look forward to a new release from her as much now as I did when I started reading her stories.

Freeze Frame follows on from our introduction to Isla & Ben in Shutter Speed and it was as good as I expected. Ms B pulls us into her books with her intricate mix of great storylines, suspense, action, heat, a little angst and a whole heap of interesting and engaging characters – main and supporting!

I LOVED that although a separate series, the Snapshot books are based around the same area as the Cedar Tree stories and that we got a catch up with some of our faves from that series – I do adore a great crossover and cameos!

I was taken with both Ben and Isla and their relationship – budding as it was at the start of Freeze Frame. One of the things I especially like about Freya’s characters is their age, they are all a little older, have been out there and experienced life and work their way through their issues and problems together. Our main couple had a few things going on in their book and the road to a happy settled life threw up a few hairpin corners but it made for a really good read.

If you’ve read Freya’s books before you’ll love this one too. If you haven’t yet discovered how talented Ms Barker is, go grab yourself a copy of Shutter Speed and Freeze Frame and see for yourself why her books are so great!

My rating, 4.5*

Freya Barker inspires with her stories about ‘real’ people, perhaps less than perfect, each struggling to find their own slice of happy. She is the author of the Cedar Tree Series and the Portland, ME, novels.

Freya is the recipient of the RomCon “Reader’s Choice” Award for best first book, “Slim To None,” and is a finalist for the 2016 Kindle Book Awards for “From Dust”. She currently has two complete series and three anthologies published, and is working on two new series; La Plata County FBI—ROCK POINT, and Northern Lights. She continues to spin story after story with an endless supply of bruised and dented characters, vying for attention!

KT Dove grew up, and still lives, in the Midwest. At an early age she developed a love of reading, driving the local librarians crazy, and would plan plot lines and stories for her favorite characters. KT received degrees in English, Speech/Drama, and Education. And yet instead of becoming an English teacher as planned, she opted for an unexpected HEA.

Now married, a mother and still an avid reader, she stumbled upon the Indie author movement and became involved on several levels. Never in her wildest imagination would she have thought she would co-author a book. With the support of her family, she took the plunge, adding writing to an already busy literary existence.

She wouldn’t have it any other way.
