When her sister, Pippa, goes missing, Nella Freling tells her boss she’s taking time off from her job as a research librarian, hops in her sensible van, and heads south of the border to Montana. However, local police don’t seem too concerned about a missing woman living in her motorhome. So Nella will have to look for Pippa by herself, unless she can convince a highly recommended tracker to help her, but sadly the rude and angry cowboy won’t even listen to her at first.
But Nella can be persuasive.
The first time High Mountain Tracker, Fletch Boone, laid eyes on Nella, her ass was stuck in his grocery cart. The next time was at the ranch; she was wearing mud, head to toe. But when he catches sight of her a third time, hanging off a cliff, he can’t turn his back again. What Nella lacks in survival skills she makes up for in sheer determination. Unfortunately, neither of those is enough protection when bullets start flying.
Fletch has no choice but to jump in before the woman gets herself killed.
And that would be a damn shame.
BLP REVIEW – Tracy
I’m so enjoying this new series from Freya. Acton packed, eventful, with a slew of new characters I’ve liked finding out about, it’s so far been a really good read….
Now, I have to admit that I honestly wanted to throttle Nella more than a dozen times or so throughout High Stakes. I liked her tenacity, her determination and belief that she’d find her sister but the gods, even though she obviously cared about others, the woman had no sense of self preservation for most of the story.. even when circumstances suggested she rethink her line of thinking!!! She was so bloody stubborn, so in that way, amongst others, she was very similar to Fletch.
Fletcher was definitely the loner of this band of brothers. Yeah he worked with the guys and spent some time with them but for the most part he preferred his own company. His initial meetings with Nella totally showed the surly, ass of a man he could be but as we followed their story we discovered the layers he had and that there was more to him than he liked people to see.
The story was suspenseful, quick paced and kept me interested and guessing for a good part of the book. As you’d expect with Ms Barker the characters are a bit older – which I love – have lived live to varying degrees and have their own demons that dictate how they live their lives.
There was a potential couple in the making and another that I cannot wait to read about.
I’m excited about the next book in the series and looking forward to getting to find out more about the rest of the High Moutain Trackers. A solid 4.5* read.

Title: One Way Back to Me Series: The Wilder Brothers #1 Author: Carrie Ann Ryan
Genre: Contemporary Romance Release Date: April 18, 2022
BLURB
When the Wilder brothers retire from the military and are forced to learn a new life, things get interesting in the start to a brand new steamy, contemporary romance series from NYT Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan.
I never thought I’d see her again. After one dance at a wedding, I knew she was for me. Only things didn’t work out that way, and I had to watch her walk away with the man she loved instead.
Years later, I’m in desperate need of a wedding planner—not for myself, but for my company. My five brothers and I need to get our new Wilder Resort off the ground, and Alexis is the only one who can help.
Yet the moment we see each other again, we can’t deny the passion or connection. And if we’re not careful, our pasts just might burn through our present.
The anticipation was high for this book after I’d read the prequel and I can say that I wasn’t disappointed.
Set a couple of years after Alexis and Eli initially meet we find the pair in a bit of a role reversal. Life for Alexis has hit a dip while the Wilder brother is beginning to find his way with the retreat that he and his brothers now own.
There’s a lot of drama in this one. I’m not usually a fan of drama or angst in my reads, life has enough of it at times without it being in the books I like to read but in One Way Back to Me it added to the story though I must admit to being at a loss as to why some of it happened. Yeah, it was explained to a point in the book but I still didn’t understand some thought processes.
Eli and Alexis worked as a couple, even though she had some reservations about having a relationship with one of her bosses.
I’m intrigued by Evan and Kendall and am so looking forward to reading about them!!!

A snowstorm, an unexpected delay, and a caring stranger are all it takes for Sebastian Ruggers to change the course of his life.
Instead of pushing paper and living a life he dreads, he follows his heart and the girl he meets to a new city.
A different life.
Maggie Andrews is heading back to the only town that ever felt like home.
When she meets Sebastian, somehow she knows, together, they’ll find a life together sweeter than the ones they are leaving behind. She can help him find his future. He can be the person she needs.
They only have to say yes.
Sometimes you discover home isn’t only a location on a map—but the person you share it with.
I kept her hand in mine and watched her, my mind going as fast as the plane we were in. The more the miles flew by, the more the ache in my chest grew. Maggie would walk away from me soon, and I’d never see her again. I’d head to BC and the life my father insisted I had to live, and she would make her own way in the small town, hundreds of miles away from me.
I would go to an apartment I’d never seen and live there. My father would make sure it was decent and I had what I needed to live. Maggie would go to her little house and try to fix it up and make a life for herself. She would struggle to make ends meet and fight to hold on to the place she thought of as home. My father’s plan would enable me to live well, but it wouldn’t feel like home. Like my life.
Both of us would struggle for different reasons.
Both of us surrounded by people, yet alone.
I’d always felt alone—except for the past few hours. With Maggie beside me, I hadn’t felt that way. For the first time in my life since my mother died, I felt as though I was complete again—as if I mattered.
I mattered to Maggie.
She mattered to me.
If we were together, things would be different. If I chose differently, both our lives could change.
Thoughts, ideas, and images began taking shape in my head.
If I changed my mind.
If I asked Maggie to let me go with her. Not to visit, but to stay.
BLP REVIEW – Tracy
The gods, but I adore Melanie Moreland’s books.
Following Maggie was an absolutely charming read. I loved both Maggie and Sebastian… two lost and lonely people, not quite sure where life is leading them who meet in an airport in the middle of a snowstorm.
What could have been a fleeting, once in a lifetime meeting turns into quite something else when they both take a leap of faith.
I was captivated by the relationship that grew between the main characters. The family of choice that they built were wonderful and characters that I would like to know IRL.
In Following Maggie, Melanie gave us the kind of read that is good for the heart and soul. An engaging story, a little drama – though not between the MCs – lots of love and romance, a great sense of family and of belonging and a whole lot of heat.
I read Maggie & Sebastian’s story in one sitting, I didn’t want to put my kin down and I couldn’t wait to see how things played out for them.
A definite recommended read, whether you are already acquainted with MM’s books or are new to her work.

She’s five years old and looks just like me with her daddy’s eyes.
And her father has no idea she exists.
Not by design. While I’ve had a string of crappy exes, he wasn’t actually one of them. Just a one night stand, a big oops, and no way to find him again when I discovered what happened six weeks later.
But now fate or luck has brought us together again. I’m headed to New York for fashion week to showcase my newest line and Noah ends up next to me in a bar, the former high school football star turned GM of New York’s football team.
He’s hot as ever, and so is our spark.
But I’ve been burned before. And what he doesn’t know can’t hurt anyone. Right?

Stefano Borelli was quite something… the talented mechanic was a truly great character and I so wanted him to find his happy ever after, especially when he watched his boss and saw how happy and settled he was.
Dependable, loyal, protective and family oriented, Stefano was perfect for Gabby. His reaction to her on their first meeting was twofold…. He was happy to help a strangers, as that was just who he was, but it was the spark that lit inside him and the fact he couldn’t stop thinking about her that made him realise she was gonna be important.
I understood her hesitation when it came to the idea that he was interested in her, especially when we discovered where her concerns stemmed from, but all I wished for was her to see that this guy was exactly what he showed her and for her to take a little leap of faith when it came to him. The fact that she was a single mom, with an absolutely adorable little boy definitely added to her hesitation but Theo had no such reservations when it came to the big mechanic and I adored how open and happy he was when it came to Stefano and the rest of the guys at Reynolds Restorations.
I loved the development of their relationship, even when things weren’t quite working out to Stefano’s plans. Having a family, of both blood and choice who were there to help him sort through his feelings and take care of Gabby and Theo kept him from giving up hope when the determined woman thought she was doing the right thing……..
Catching up with Charley and Maxx, meeting the Borelli family (especially Stefano’s mom) and finding out there seems to be something going on between Brett and Charley’s friend rounded out the story so well.
Breaking The Speed Limit was a great read and I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**
I love a second chance story…. and while Just One Wish was a quick read it was really good.
Axel Forrester wasn’t quite what I expected. The guy was really sweet, caring and determined to get a chance with Tara, even after all the time they’d been apart. He’s ready for something more and knows that Tara could be it for him.
Tara Stillman has a settled life that she loves. She doesn’t feel that she needs anything more then she sees Axel again… but can she trust her heart and him or would she be better off alone.
I enjoyed seeing this pair work things out to find their way back to each other.

She called him the man she loved, she called him Luke. But then he proved he really is worthy of his nickname. Or so she thought. Nothing is as it seemed back then.

I open the door. Ana’s sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at the door. The instant she sees me, her lips part, and her eyes travel my body before jerking back to my face.
“You have to put a shirt on. You just—have to.”
My cock is pretty damn pleased with this reaction that says she wants me, but my brain is working overdrive, and for once, overpowering that plaything in my pants. “Why, sweetheart? You want to kiss the scar you gave me better? It’s too late for that. Or maybe, you want to lick me all over? You already did that. You don’t get to do it again. Not after trying to kill me.” I walk to the end of the desk where I left my gun, pick it up, and then lay down on the ground at the foot of the bed. My phone goes to the floor. The gun sits on my gut.
Ana moves to the end of the bed, and sits there, staring down at me. “What are you doing?”
I notice she avoids my name when she would normally do otherwise. I guess she just can’t figure out who I am anymore. Well, I know. And Lucifer fits. She knows, too. “I’m catching a few z’s, and protecting you from anyone that comes in the door. If it so much as jiggles, I’ll sit up and shoot.”
“It’s been a hellish night and morning. Lay on the bed. You can have the side closest to the door. Please.”
I glance up at her. “Sweetheart, if I get in that bed with you, I’ll have you naked in about thirty seconds, and while we’ll both enjoy that, you’ll just hate me for it after. Not to mention we won’t get any sleep.”
“I could say a lot of things to that response, but I probably shouldn’t. We’ll put pillows between us.”
“If you think a pillow will stop me from getting naked with you, you might have been right when you said you never really knew me, Ana. That was right before you shot me, right? I told you. I want to fuck you. I don’t want to sleep next to you.”
She buries her face in her hands and groans a frustrating sound and then glowers at me, all sexy and way too damn hot for my own good. “Fine, Lucifer. Sleep on the damn floor. Just do what you want.” She stands up and walks to the side of the bed before climbing on top.
She tosses a pillow down on top of me. I grab it and stick it under my head. “For the record, me down here and you up there is not what I want. It was never what I wanted, Ana. It’s just who we are now.”
“Yeah,” she says softly. “I know. “
That’s all she says and I want more. But then, I’ve always wanted more when it comes to Ana. And more was never enough.
BLP REVIEW – Tracy
I couldn’t put this book down. I love the Walker Bothers books and the spin off books featuring the guys who work for them. I’ve been looking forward to Luke’s story since LRJ announced it.
Not a whole lot happened in this first instalment of Lucas’s trilogy. So much of Lucifer’s Sin was setting the scene, discovering what happened in the past between Luke and Ana that made them appear to hate each other and introducing characters important to the story.
I’ve got a theory as to who might actually have been behind the chain of events that have lead Luke back to Ana and I’m almost certain at least one of these people were not who they led our main characters to believe they were. Time will tell if I’m right.
Even though I knew the cliffhanger was coming it still caught me out a little. I’m looking forward to book two and seeing how this pair deal with being back together – even if that’s just being in the same place.
