Excerpt

A couple of weeks later, I was due for the second experiment, though it was really my first. As I waited in the third floor lobby, my mind flooded with strange visions of what the experiment could entail. I remembered studying the long-term effects of child abuse, as they translated into adulthood, for the last exam. Surely, that wouldn’t be a potential topic for the experiment.

I didn’t want anyone delving into that part of my psyche. Ever.

As I got tangled up in my daydreams, the remaining students were called away for their own experiments. Before too long, I was the last one left. Again. An uneasy feeling flowed through my system, because the déjà vu felt all too expected, all too planned.

Sighing aloud, I carried my satchel over my shoulder and rose from my chair in the lobby. I trudged across the carpet with my head down, desperate to go back to my apartment and sleep. Nightmares of my past had tormented me the night before, but I didn’t want to revisit them now.

“Miss O’Connell,” a cheery voice called. I looked up to find Cabel with a pen and clipboard in his hand. “Ready?” He turned on his heel as I followed, letting him guide me down the hallway.

“For what exactly?” I searched for the nearest elevator, intent on heading home and curling into a ball on the couch. But when Cabel grabbed my elbow, I gave him a second glance.

“Your experiment,” he answered, furrowing his brow in frustration. “It’s today.”

“I know it’s today,” I snapped back, already irritated. “My experimenter didn’t show up.” I brushed past him and continued down the corridor, desperate to find a place to rest my head.

“I’m your experimenter.” The strength of his voice followed me, traveling down the hall.

I slowed my feet and turned back around, not believing a word he had said. “What?”

Cabel stepped towards me, his icy blue eyes dilating at the pupil. I thought that was odd, considering the bright fluorescent lights overhead. “Come with me,” he pressed, his steady gaze authoritative and haunting, “unless you want to fail.”

I forced myself to swallow, then followed Cabel down several long, winding corridors, until he finally led me into an empty room and shut the door behind us. Cabel flipped the light switch on, to reveal a small rectangular table with two wooden chairs on either side of it. I glanced around the room, spotting a couch against the left wall and a sink by the lone window at the back of the room. The blinds were drawn.

I flinched when Cabel shut the door, and then jerked one of the chairs out from the table. “Have a seat,” he ordered. Obedient, I tossed my satchel onto the couch and took a deep breath.

“Yes, Mr. Jones.” I sat down with my feet flat on the ground, my hands gripping the seat.

“When are you going to stop calling me that?” Cabel stood in front of me, hovering.

“When are you going to stop calling me Miss O’Connell?” I countered.

The edge of Cabel’s mouth lifted into a smirk, though he didn’t allow the smile to linger. I held his gaze, looking up at him through my eyelashes, playful and coy. Cabel narrowed his eyes at me in return, but not out of malice. He was thinking, wondering, considering.

“Roll up your sleeve,” Cabel instructed, staring at my black long-sleeved t-shirt.

“What?” I stared up at him in confusion, while Cabel merely sighed. All at once, he leaned forward, grabbed my left wrist with one hand, and pushed my shirtsleeve back with the other, until the fabric became a bunched mess around my elbow. I held my breath at the touch of his skin against mine, while Cabel rocked back on his heels and placed his hands on his hips.

“Put your arm on the table,” he said, alarming me further. I rested my left arm on the table beside me and turned my palm up towards the ceiling. When Cabel collected a black box from the TV stand and placed it on the table, I began to sweat.

“Don’t I have to sign a disclaimer first?” I piped up, questioning his order and method of experimentation.

“We’ll get to that,” Cabel confirmed.

Just as he unlocked the box and opened the lid, our eyes met with frantic delight. I forced myself to swallow, my gaze shifting from Cabel to the table. What was inside of the box?

Suddenly, an alarm sounded overhead, sending a violent ringing through my ears. Cabel shut the box and returned it to the TV stand, then jerked me out of the chair. Before I could react, an announcement came over the PA system.

“Attention all students, faculty, and staff. Please evacuate campus immediately. This is not a drill. Find the nearest exit and leave now. All classes are cancelled until further notice.”

The announcement played on a continuous loop, while the alarm rang on and on.

“Cabel, what’s going on?” I tried to swallow, but there was no more than a hard, relentless lump in my throat. Distracted, Cabel released me and moved to the door, deftly clicking the lock in place. “Cabel?” He grabbed the chair I had been sitting in and pushed it in front of the door, then snatched the table and remaining chair off the floor and did the same.

Cabel weaved his fingers through his hair, those blonde locks becoming disheveled and unruly. His head snapped back when someone began pounding their fist against the door. I looked intoCabel’s eyes and noticed that his soft blue irises had thinned around two deep circles of black.

Without any warning, Cabel grabbed my arm and steered me towards the window. He drew the blinds back, and then pushed the window open to reveal our only way out.

“No!” I protested, struggling against him. Cabel grabbed my shoulders and shoved me towards the window. I stomped his foot with my shoe and kicked him in the knee, but Cabel wrapped his arm around my waist and leaned his head on my shoulder.

“Climb down the railing and go next door,” he whispered. “Take the stairs to the third floor and wait for me in the second room on the left. It’s the janitor’s closet.” I felt his warm breath in my ear, his words more comforting than the vice-like grip he had around me.

“What?” I whimpered, tugging at his arm. “But, I don’t understand.”

“Trust me,” he pleaded in earnest.

The banging against the door only grew louder, as I tried to rationalize, tried to think, tried to decide what to do. I didn’t know if I could even trust Cabel. I hardly knew him. But in that moment, I realized how badly I wanted to.

“Is this part of the experiment?” I craned my neck around to look back at him, my eyes dancing across the planes of his strong, chiseled face.

“No,” he mouthed, his lips so close to mine that they nearly touched. For the briefest moment, Cabel looked at peace with the world, gazing into my fearful brown eyes. But then the door burst open, and Cabel picked me up and tossed me out the window.

Excerpt

When Angel looked up, there was a shadow behind him and then a cool piece of cloth covered his eyes. He smiled into the blackness. “What are you doing, mi amor? Is this your way of telling me you want a spanking?”

“It’s not your prince,” Jessi whispered in his ear.

The small hairs on the back of his neck stood up, and he stood perfectly still. Jessi didn’t initiate playtime with the flogger, and there was an eagerness in her voice that alerted his senses. He tried to lift the scarf from across his eyes, but she pulled it tighter and tied it behind his head. A shiver ran down his back, all the way to his toes. Another set of hands unbuckled his belt and pulled his slacks down to his ankles. He kicked off his shoes, and someone helped him step out of his pants. These two had something in store for him, and he entertained a few possible scenarios in his head. His imagination traveled down paths that weren’t in his comfort zone. Although he loved to dish out a little rough play, he was rarely on the receiving end. “What are you two up to?”

“Shh. No talking.” It was Jessi, which somehow made him more nervous. He knew Tommy’s boundaries, but Jessi was a risk taker. Jessi delved into new experiences without the fear of the unknown to hold her back.

A hand on each of his upper arms guided him to their bed, but he needed no direction around the room. He could easily navigate freely on the darkest of nights. Every piece of furniture was mapped into his memory, from the four-poster bed to Tommy’s guitar stand in the far right corner and Jessi slippers that were always strewn on the floor next to her side of the bed.

He crawled across the mattress on his hands and knees and someone snatched his briefs, leaving him with just his white dress shirt held together by a lone button. A firm hand—Tommy’s—came down on his bare butt cheek without warning. It lit up Angel’s cock with an arousing start. Two smaller hands—Jessi’s—took hold of his shirt and yanked it off his shoulders. The sole button popped from its thread and hit the floor with a ting before it scuttled away.

The spike of a high-heeled shoe hit him in the center of his back and flattened him against the mattress. It stabbed at his spine. He wasn’t sure he liked it, but his cock grew thicker. “What are you doing?”

“Don’t talk back to my wife.”

Angel loved Tommy’s bossy mouth, and he relaxed under the pressure of Jessi’s foot. She gave him one final poke in the ass with her heel before she kicked her shoes over the side of the bed.

“Front or back?” she asked.

“Front.” Tommy answered before Angel had a chance to answer the question. “I want to see his face when we have fun with him.”

Once upon a time, my life was good. I had a family, I had a girlfriend, and hopes for the future. That was long ago, but I remember it. A hazy dream of what could have been.
That’s gone now. I lost it all. Life fucked me over, and now I’m scared of my own damn shadow.
I’m training to be a tattoo artist, but I bet I’m not good enough. I have a roof over my head, but every morning I’m scared shitless that I’ll find myself on the street again – or worse, back in prison.
And every time a pretty girl looks at me, every single fucking time, I know I can’t be with her. Not only because she’ll find out I’m an ex-con and run the other way, no. It’s more than that. I just can’t. The thought of anyone touching me, the thought of getting aroused from that touch brings back every damn nightmare from my past to swallow me whole.
Can’t fucking do it.
Not even if it’s the prettiest girl on earth – Cassie. With her long blond hair and her pretty tits, her short skirts and high heels, she’s all my fantasies rolled into one. See, the fact she kissed one of my buddies? That’s good. The fact she looks at me like I’m a bug under her shoe? Even better.
Because it means she’s not interested in getting hot and sweaty with me, and that I can keep living that fantasy.
The fantasy that she wants to be with me as much as I want to be with her – even though I know it will never happen.

Standalone novel. No cliffhanger.
*Warning: this book contains graphic language, sex, and violence. Mature readers only. Not intended for young readers.*

SHANE is book 4 in the series Damage Control – a series set in the same world as Inked Brotherhood. The boys of Damage Control were taken in by Zane Madden and Rafe Vestri and offered apprenticeship and work in the tattoo shop Damage Control.

Shane is holding me, his large, callused hands on my cheeks, and then his mouth descends on mine, and he’s kissing me. His mouth is hard and hot, tasting of whisky and fire, and I’m lost against him.
He just holds me close, moving his mouth over mine. He groans when I lick his lips, letting me in. His tongue tangles with mine, and the fire spills from my mouth to my belly, setting me alight. He kisses like someone who hasn’t done it much—a little hard, a little awkward.
Perfect.
Because it’s him, it’s Shane, and the cool silk of his long hair brushes against my face as he kisses me, his tall, strong body close enough to touch if he’ll just take one small step forward. If he’ll let me close the gap and press myself to him.
He doesn’t. Even as I loop my arms around his neck, tugging, his hands on my face are like steel vises, keeping me in place, just near enough for our mouths to meet and the most scorching kiss I’ve ever been given.
Shane wants me. He wants me. The words spin in my mind in colorful, dizzying circles. I mean, he’s kissing me. Would he kiss me if he didn’t? Why won’t he let me close?
His teeth nip at my lips, making me gasp, sending jolts of fire into my core, and he walks me backward until my back hits the wall with a thump. I love all of it, love the feel of his mouth on mine, the strength in his hands, the way I have to strain upward to meet his mouth because he’s so tall. I’m so caught in the sensations that I jerk when he moves closer.
He’s breathing raggedly against my mouth. He finally crushes his body to mine, pressing me to the wall, letting me feel how aroused he is. His hard-on is long and thick, digging into my belly.
Damn, this boy’s so hot I could come just from that.
But then his grip on my jaw turns so hard it hurts. I whimper, and he stops moving, every muscle turned to stone, his mouth just pressed to mine as he pants.
Why? No, I don’t want him to stop. I like how hard he’s gripping me, how he’s bearing on me until I can feel every ridge of every muscle through our thick clothes. That he’s holding me like he’ll drown if he lets go, like he’s losing control from wanting me so much.
I want to feel that wanted. That needed. No one has ever reacted that way with me—and there’s never been anyone I’ve wanted so much. Liked so much.
My arms are still wrapped around his neck, the silk of his hair tickling my fingers, and I try to pull him closer. I let my hands slip over his powerful shoulders, down his sides, to the front of his pants, stroke over the big bulge there.
There’s the proof that he likes what we’re doing. His dick can’t lie, right?
I kiss his lips, willing him to kiss me back, to touch me more.
But he’s already pulling away, releasing my cheeks, ripping himself from my hold, his eyes wide and wild.

“Fuck,” he breathes and stumbles back. “Fuck, I’m sorry.”

RELEASE BLITZ – Owned (Domination #2) by Leigh Stone

Title: Owned (Domination #2)
Author: Leigh Stone

Genre: Erotica / BDSM

The second in the Domination series. Six sexy little tales of female submission.

I’ve known Owen for about five years now. I met him in a bar when I went to play some pool at the local university’s bar with a few of the students I worked with. Owen was in his twenties, from Wales, a student in the same university. I was in my early thirties. We flirted, we teased each other, we even had a bit of a very short period of dating, but in the end we became best friends. I never would have dreamed that it would turn out to be a lot more than that. My hot Welsh friend had a secret that I didn’t find out for a few years. He’s a dominant, a Dom, a Master, a Sir.

At first I thought nothing of it, I knew that I wasn’t ‘like that’, but the more Owen gave me glimpses into his world the more and more intrigued I became. He led me down the path to submission, like the white rabbit leading Alice into Wonderland. Now I am hooked, I am addicted to the pleasure that only he can generate in me. I am his. I am OWNED.

I’m Leigh Stone, I live in Northern Ireland, just outside the capital city of Belfast, in a house I share with my teenage daughter, and our personal zoo (1 Labrador mix, 3 cats, and 2 rabbits!).

I’m first and foremost a reader, and a fast reader at that, often devouring books in a single sitting over a period of hours. I have always had aspirations to write and become a published author, but as a teenager I was encouraged to look for a different profession, as being an author “wouldn’t pay the bills.”

It was that reading that lead a friend of mine to suggest that I had read so many of those books that I could probably write my own! It seemed like a good idea, and I thought that I would give it a try 🙂 a few months later Lex’s Melody was well underway, and the rest as they say is history!

He isn’t supposed to have a family, it’s too dangerous, but Cade can’t let go of the only person he gives a shit about, his sister Veronica. When he makes his yearly call to her and finds out she’s receiving death threats from a homegrown terrorist group, Cade knows he has no choice but to go back to Texas to make sure she’s safe.

Fresh out of a six-year hitch in the Army, Cee Cee Logan thinks she’s finally earned her brother David’s respect when he finally offers her a job with his security firm. She quickly sees that isn’t the case when the job she’s hired for turns out to be that of the team secretary, a nice safe, desk job like he told her to get when she graduated college. Cecelia is frustrated, but takes the position because she is determined to prove to her chauvinistic and overprotective sibling once and for all she’s capable of so much more.

By the end of the first week, Cee Cee wishes she’d have just re-enlisted. When a trafficked woman’s repatriation clinic is bombed, and Cade’s sister Veronica, a judge, is in grave danger, Cecelia is presented with her opportunity to prove herself as an agent. But the question was, did she want it? Could she trust her partner to have her back when he seemed to be on a mission of his own to make her look bad every chance he got?

“I did come to talk to you but figured you weren’t much into talking or listening to anything I had to say with that brunette’s lips wrapped around your dick,” Cee Cee snarled, a brow lifted over her angry, hurt eyes.

A shock of electricity shot through his body to boil his blood which crept up to the base of his throat as memories of that night, the last time he’d seen her, flashed through his mind. He cringed, and his hands tightened on the steering wheel.

That night he’d been as cruel as he could be to her because he wanted to hurt her as much as she’d hurt him. Cade wanted to show her she didn’t mean an iota more to him than she’d proven he meant to her by leaving him dangling on a limb without an explanation or excuse for two fucking weeks. That she showed up on the night before the morning he knew she was leaving for boot camp, the absolute worst night of his life, made things worse. He couldn’t be held responsible for his actions or reactions that night.

“You broke into my apartment, and I was drunk,” he said defensively. And in so much fucking pain, neither the alcohol nor the hot, nameless woman sucking my dick could make it better.

“I didn’t break in, I had a key, remember? And thank God you were drunk enough to finally tell me how you really felt about me. You saved me a lot of future complications.” Her harsh laugh rang hollowly inside his skull. “It was a hard and painful lesson, but totally worth it. I learned not to trust a man with anything more than my body, or expect anything from him in return for a good fuck. Because I went in with that attitude, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to learn you were right—I am a damned good fuck—and the act is a lot more fun when satisfaction is all you expect in return. Sure makes things less messy in the morning, doesn’t it?”

Cade didn’t know what to say as his eyes flew to hers. The vulgarity falling from her soft lips made him want to wash her mouth out with soap for some reason. Blood crept up his face to set his scalp on fire, as the hard little smile that curved the corner her mouth, the knowing look in her eyes caused a tight band of regret to constrict his chest.

He had done this to her, turned her into this kind of woman. His hasty, drunken, and yes immature, words meant to hurt her had done so much more. They turned a soft-hearted girl into a one-night-stand kind of woman like the brunette.

Were you really naïve enough to believe I wanted more than a fuck, Brat? You were a good fuck to me, Cecelia, nothing more. Wise up about men—we’re only looking for one thing and you’re keeping me from getting that right now. Go away, little girl, I’m busy.

Pressure built in his skull and his breaths came hard and fast as he studied her, tried to find that girl he used to know somewhere in her eyes but failed. Cecelia’s chin lifted a notch as her arms tightened around her middle, before she leaned back against the seat and looked out the side window.

“You’re better than that, Brat.” God, so much better, and guilt for his hand in turning her into what she’d become closed off his throat, so his words were choked. “You may have gotten confidence in the military, but you sure lost any delicacy you may have possessed before, and that’s a damned shame.”

“No, I’m not delicate in the least anymore. You toughened me right up.” She looked at him with a lifted brow and a smirk curving one corner of her mouth. “I’ve become a woman not to be messed with and I thank you for starting that transformation, Cade.”

SYNOPSIS

He wants the world and the admiration of everyone in it.

Sean Taiden, the inconspicuous drummer of Reckless Beat, is sick of living in the shadows of his bandmates’ success. He’ll do anything to gain the recognition he deserves. Even if it means dancing in a music video to the Reckless track that drives a knife into his broken heart whenever he hears it. The saving grace is the tempting choreographer who may be the one person able to distract him from the agony his life has become.

All she wants is the peace that comes with solitude.

Melody Jenkins knows all about fame. She knows enough to determine she doesn’t want a part of it anymore. After quitting her professional dance career, she set up a quiet studio and focused on starting a new beginning away from prying eyes. Until a sexy drummer strides into her life, making her crave something she can’t have while also pushing her to expose secrets she can’t bear to reveal.

Conflicting aspirations and one inextinguishable passion.

She needs to hide from the world she once owned. He wants to rise to the top, proving to himself and his friends that he’s always been the heartbeat of the band. Caught between what they need and what they want, Melody and Sean have to decide which is more important—their individual plans for the future or their feelings for one another.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING

Eden Summers has another great hit on her hands. Sean and Melody set my kindle on fire. Their chemistry and heat is amazing. Even dancing they are burning hot. This book was written so well and I didn’t want it to end. I love this series so much. This book is part of a series but could be read as a standalone as well too. I give this book five stars but I wish I could give it more. I loved this story and can’t wait for what is next in the world of Reckless Beat.

This book was explosively HOT! These two characters had off the charts, scorching chemistry. The emotional ride was intense for me. It was gut wrenching, frustrating, heartbreaking, hilarious, and HOT HOT HOT! I love the fact that each book’s secondary characters are the other Reckless Beat guys, but there was something intense with Sean and Melody that I didn’t expect. Eden Summers, once again, had me under her spell, and it’s physically painful to put any of her books down before they are finished. Every single one of these books is a must read! CANNOT WAIT for the next book.

I’m always guaranteed a scorching hot read when it comes to Eden Summers’ Reckless Beat series. In Sultry Groove, book 4 of one of my favorite Rock Star Romances, this author gives us page after page of hilarious, emotional, and sexy goodness. This is a book I expected to like, and found myself devouring. With the ‘realness’ of the love story and the emotional upheaval that I went through while reading, this book was the complete package for me. A romance that had me laughing out loud one minute, and having, what I can only call, an emotional breakdown the next – I say, is a winner, and a romance reader’s dream come true.
