EXCERPT:

His gaze narrowed, lines furrowing his brow. Why dont you let the police deal with that in the future, Miss Cooper? You dont need that sort of shit getting into your head. Excuse my language.

I attempted a smile. Its fine. Swear all you like. This situation makes me want to swear too.

Theres a lot of sick and cruel people out there. It doesnt mean you need to give them a moment of your time.

True, I said. I guess youve seen a lot of this sort of stuff before.

Enough to know youre better off staying away from it and leaving the detective work to the professionals.

I know, I know. My shoulders slumped, my back bowed. My bones felt hollow and weak. Tonight Id take some Melatonin and try to knock myself out. Actually get some decent sleep. I just hate being so out of control. Having to put my life on pause because of this asshole.

Understandable.

Around me were towers of books waiting to be shelved. Romance mostly. Since I had the time, I might as well place them in alphabetical order. His gaze wandered over them with something close to interest. Made me curious about his hobbies. Apart from being a fulltime card-carrying member of the badass club, of course. He probably kick boxed and scaled tall buildings and saved kittens from burning trees. I really shouldnt have sat down. From this height, he seemed even more imposing. Like a mountain towering over me, taking up all of the view. Id been around plenty of big shot actors, sports stars, and business tycoons over the years, courtesy of various events and V.I.P. lounges. Ziggy Thayer had more presence than all of them put together. Its like he sucked the air out of a room just by generally being cool and existing.

Or maybe he only had that effect on me. If so, I could seriously do without the complication. Dammit.

Miss?

And Id been staring at the man again. Im sorry, Ziggy. I kind of zoned out there for a minute. Were you saying something?

Excerpt

Suki regretted agreeing to come to Underworld tonight. She had regretted it from the moment her sisters had cajoled her into the trip, and she should have made her excuses and left. She wasn’t in the mood for hunting tonight. She was tired, cranky, and absolutely nothing was going her way.

She had managed to steal one kiss from a nice guy who had moderately good looks and had fallen for her charms, but he had tasted like ashes and her fuel gauge was still on the red line. She needed a male who could fill her tank, didn’t want to resort to the sort of feed her sisters seemed intent on getting tonight.

Allura openly fondled the man she had cornered, one who Suki had surmised was a shifter of some variety. Shifters often provided a good feed, but it would come at a high price. Chances were, Allura would kill him once they got busy. Shifters were strong, but not strong enough to handle sex with a succubus.

Suki had lost track of Vidia. The blonde female had been swift to ditch Suki’s sorry ass as soon as she had spotted potential prey. If Suki had to guess, she had spotted her favourite food.

A nymph.

Nymphs were strong enough to handle a succubus if they were old enough, but the ones who were old enough were so damned conceited and egotistical that Suki couldn’t stand them for long enough to get past the conversation stage of a hunt.

Vidia had once said that petting the ego of a nymph was worth it, even though it left a bad taste in her mouth. According to Suki’s clan, doing whatever it took to get a good feed was worth it, regardless of how crappy it made you feel.

Maybe that was the reason they all thought Suki was a complete and utter failure.

She was starving but she still couldn’t bring herself to sleep with a guy who wasn’t strong enough to survive it or stoop to grooming a nymph’s narcissism.

Suki tried to push all the niggling voices out of her head, the thousand jibes and taunts, and harsh words that had come from every corner of the clan, including the mistress who acted as the head of it. They went, but not before they took a few cheap shots at her already fragile mood, cleaving holes in her heart.

Why the hell had she bothered coming out tonight?

She looked at the pleasant man opposite her, one who scored an eight in most departments and who was talking her ear off about a subject she had no interest in and slowly looking more and more as if he was leaning towards ditching her for someone else.

Probably Allura or Vidia. He had asked about them more than once and she had caught the way he had drooled over Allura when the onyx-haired and violet-to-blue-eyed beauty had stopped to check in on her. She couldn’t blame him. As always, Allura had somehow managed to squeeze her incredible body into a black rubber mini and a leather corset that barely contained her ample breasts.

Suki was beginning to feel she should have stayed at home. This night was going to go the same way they always did when her sisters dragged her out. She had started out thinking tonight would be different, as always, and she would finally get things right. A few unfulfilling kisses later she would end up screwing everything up and going home alone, still hungry and in an even worse mood.

The opinion of her sisters would only get worse and her future would only look gloomier, and her mood would only grow darker.

She smiled at the nice man and forced herself to move closer, tried to focus on what he was saying but it really was boring. She didn’t really care what kind of car he drove, or that he owned his apartment rather than rented. None of that impressed her.

She had never been into material things.

At least not to the extent that her sisters were.

Sometimes, her succubus nature got the better of her and shiny cars and fat bank balances easily seduced her. The perils of living on a tiny allowance. When her money was in danger of running out, she fell victim to her nature, a strange sense of desperation gripping her that had her spending most of the days until her next payment walking around frazzled and in her own little world, seeking a male who might buy her something pretty.

A girl could dream about having money, enough to buy whatever she wanted, couldn’t she?

Of course, normally allowing herself to dream like that only made the reality of her situation an even worse nightmare.

Her sisters could afford pretty things, nice clothes and jewellery, and expensive make up, because they preyed on more than the sexual energy of their hosts. They preyed on their bank accounts too, convincing the addled males to buy them things. Suki had tried that once or twice, or maybe a million times, when in the grip of her flat-broke-fever.

She was yet to succeed in convincing a male to buy her something.

Another thing that left a sour taste in her mouth.

Allura did a drive by and sneakily pressed her hand to her forehead, forming an L against it. L for loser.

Her sister meant the male was a loser and to ditch him, but Suki couldn’t help but take it personally. Her entire clan thought she was the loser because she was forever having problems with men and feeding. The charm her mother had been famous for had apparently refused to be inherited by her.

Suki lacked the basic succubus skills so badly that a few of her sisters questioned whether she really was her mother’s daughter and not some stray she had picked up in the fae town or a baby swapped at birth with her real daughter.

Sometimes, Suki wondered that too.

Most of the time, she wondered how she could make her sisters proud of her. She didn’t want them to look down on her. She didn’t want to lose them.

The world would be a bleak and lonely place without her sisters.

She struggled to fit in at the clan, but she would struggle even more to fit into a world without them in it. She belonged at the clan, with her sisters. She had lost her only blood relation, but every female in her clan was her sister, whether they were a daughter or a mother, an aunt or a grandmother. They were all her sisters.

The only family she had.

Before her mother had died, she had told Suki something that remained with her to this day.

One day, she would find her place in this world.

Suki knew what her mother had meant by that. One day, she would prove herself to the clan, would learn to use her powers and bloom just as her mother had always said she would, and she would become part of the family just as she had always wanted.

One day, her sisters would love her just as she loved them.

Solid Eight tossed her a flirty smile, one she returned as she sidled closer to him.

She brushed her arm against his, savouring the way his aura shifted, the colours that flared around him like an aurora changing to reveal the red of passion and arousal. He wanted her. She could bag and tag him, although there was a danger the tagging part might end up being one attached to his toe as they wheeled him into a morgue.

Why did Solid Eight have to be human?

She was sure that underneath his blue jeans and dark checked shirt he had a good body, one that would delight her, and that his desire and passion would provide a modest meal. Humans were off limits as far as she was concerned though. One slip and she would end up killing him, even if they were only kissing at the time. She didn’t have the energy to focus on restraining herself. She was too hungry, needed a man who could get her off the red line through kissing before she dared to do anything saucier with him.

Allura strolled past again, tugging a handsome man along behind her. Suki was surprised her sister didn’t plant another L on her forehead. The clan’s favourite succubus just rolled her eyes instead.

Suki glared at her.

Fine, she was taking too long with the guy, but Solid Eight had her twisted in knots. The temptation to kiss him and see if he could handle giving her a little of his energy was great, but the thought of accidentally killing him was like a bucket of icy water on her libido.

Suki looked around the room again, hunting a stronger target, one who could handle a succubus and might be able to provide her with a good feed. If she could find a powerful man, not a nymph, she could probably fill her tank on kissing or at least kissing and a little fooling around.

An ache bloomed between her thighs and she rubbed them together in her tight black cotton mini, the thought of getting frisky with a man sending her temperature soaring and short-circuiting the part of her brain that constantly chided her, telling her not to go too far in case she accidentally killed her host.

A man flashed into her mind, his gaunt face and dull blue eyes hurling another bucket of ice down her panties, quenching the fire that had just started burning.

It had been more than a month since she had let her hunger get the better of her and had almost killed him, and although it had been a mistake on her part because she had been convinced he had been stronger than he had turned out to be, she still couldn’t shake the guilt.

That night had left a bitter taste in her mouth.

And it had also cemented her clan’s opinion of her.

Any one of her sisters would have gone ahead and given the man a pleasurable exit from this world in order to fill up her tank to the max.

Suki had panicked and teleported him to the emergency room of a London hospital instead.

Cyrena, the clan mistress, had hauled Suki into her office and had talked about the rules, reiterating them for the thousandth time, and had given her a look that left Suki in no doubt that her next mistake was going to be her last.

If she kept failing at everything a succubus was meant to be good at, if she kept tarnishing the hallowed name of their clan, she was going to be kicked out of it. She had been warned enough times that they wouldn’t tolerate any black marks on their highly respected name, and Suki was a massive dark smudge right across the middle of it. If her mother had been anyone else, she would have been tossed out on her ass by now.

In the last month, she had doubled down on her training, more desperate than ever to prove herself worthy of being a member of the family that had raised her. She had hit fae clubs in Scotland and northern England, and even a few in America, practicing her charms on soft targets.

Tonight, she had come to practice on stronger marks.

But judging by the bored look on Solid Eight’s face, she was failing dismally. If she couldn’t charm a human tonight, how was she meant to charm a strong immortal?

A hot bolt of fire shot down her spine, lighting up her insides and cranking up her temperature, and she frowned as she swiftly scanned the room. Someone was looking at her and it wasn’t the human.

She shivered, the delicious heat that curled through her threatening to rip a moan from her lips as she tried to keep it together. Her eyes darted over everyone, her limited senses stretching out around her in an attempt to pinpoint the one who was looking at her.

Because whoever it was, they had somehow fired her up with just a look, one she wasn’t even reciprocating.

Her eyes locked with intense dark pools set in a stunning sculpted face and the room dropped away, Solid Eight’s words lost on her as she fell into those fathomless depths.

Heat suffused every inch of her, fire flaring in her veins as she swallowed hard, bewitched by the spell this newcomer had cast on her with just a single look.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

I FLOVED Tegan. Loyal to his kingdom and responsibilities for soooo many years, it was no wonder he needed to escape for a while!! He was so not what you’d expect from a Demon King but gods, his love of reading and gaining information that would help his people, even though he felt hindered at every turn was fabulous!

Suki was fun and a great character. A succubus who wasn’t a huge success and at risk of being rejected by her sisters, initially she set her sights on the big, enticing demon who catches her eye at Underworld as a target and way to prove to her ‘family’ that she wasn’t the failure they thought her to be…. but pretty much from the get go he surprised her, had her second guessing herself and all thoughts of Her seducing him melted away.

This couple were pretty perfect together, even if it didn’t seem that things were gonna work out for them to begin with.

Seduced by a Demon King had everything we’ve come to expect from Ms Heaton, humour, angst, action and suspense, love, a touch of sweetness and a whole helluva lot of heat and sexual chemistry. This series never fails to hit the spot and even 17 books in the ride is still as thrilling as it was back in Kissed by a Dark Prince, the first book in the Eternal Mates series.

Without doubt, for me a 5* read

Books in the Series

Book 1: Kissed by a Dark Prince (Just 99c right now!)
Book 2: Claimed by a Demon King
Book 3: Tempted by a Rogue Prince
Book 4: Hunted by a Jaguar
Book 5: Craved by an Alpha
Book 6: Bitten by a Hellcat
Book 7: Taken by a Dragon
Book 8: Marked by an Assassin
Book 9: Possessed by a Dark Warrior
Book 10: Awakened by a Demoness
Book 11: Haunted by the King of Death
Book 12: Turned by a Tiger
Book 13: Tamed by a Tiger
Book 14: Treasured by a Tiger
Book 15: Unchained by a Forbidden Love
Book 16: Avenged by an Angel
Book 17: Seduced by a Demon King

REVIEW – Dirty Rich Secrets : Part Two by Lisa Renee Jones

ABOUT DIRTY RICH SECRETS: PART TWO

Ashley and Aaron’s journey continues right where the prior book left off in this edgy and intense story. More secrets and lies, and more passion and danger. Ashley and Aaron could never be prepared for what’s about to happen. Questions will be answered. Answers will lead to more mysteries. And the chemistry between these two will leave you breathless.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

Another action packed instalment in the Dirty Rich Secrets trio.

Part Two sees Aaron & Ashley on the run from the unknown who is out to get them. With apparently nowhere safe to stay and Ashley’s life in ever increasing danger, the pair reach out to Walker Security for help (even though Aaron/Noah doesn’t feel he can trust anyone but himself…. but for Ashley he’ll try anything to end the nightmare).

After the lies and secrets that came out when they reconnected, this pair are still yo-yo’ing with what they want to do and what they think they should do with regards their relationship – added to that is the fact that trust still needs to be rebuilt and reinforced between them. There’s no doubt they love each other but Aaron’s concern for his lady’s safety seems to push him to thoughts of leaving when they are most definitely stronger together….. something that has Ashley wondering if he’s gonna be with her for the long run.

With another wallop of a cliff-hanger, I’m looking forward to what’s coming in Part Three and discovering who is hunting them, finding out if this couple are gonna find their HEA or if circumstances will once again conspire against them…..

A great read and a solid 4.75* in my book.

Excerpt:

Zia…

His whispered words were everything I had ever wanted to hear. Everything I wanted to hear before I knew about Derrick and Theo. What he was saying was everything I needed, and a balm for my pain. The problem was I was getting this after the fact, and I didn’t know if I could believe it.

Believe it. You know you want to. “I can’t. I can’t do this.”

He nodded, but his forehead stayed pressed on mine. His thick lashes lay against his cheeks for a long moment as he closed his eyes. “I know, and I don’t want to make things difficult. I just fucking miss you.”

Goddamn it. I knew I needed to step away. My knees had turned to jelly, and the warm rush between my thighs told me I was weak, and I really, really wanted him.

Instead of stepping away though, I whimpered.

Theo’s breath caught in his throat. And instead of letting me go, instead of releasing my hand, he tugged me closer, his hands sliding up my thighs, then my waist. His thumbs traced over my ribs. He licked his lips. “Zia, I’m trying to let you go. I’m trying to do the right thing.”

“Then do it.”

“For both of our sakes, I wish I could.”

And then his lips were on mine, his tongue licking into my mouth, and God, it was as if molten lava were oozing out of me.

The kiss was mostly teeth and tongues, a clash of apologies and anger, and hurt.

Theo’s hands were in my hair, angling me, kissing me deeper. I tugged futilely at his shirt. There were too many goddamn buttons. His hands tugged my blouse out of my skirt, and then he lifted the hem of the material. There were no words then. Just grunts, and whimpers, and moans. Before I knew what was going on, Theo had backed me up until the back of my knees hit the couch. And then we were falling down.

Oh God. This was bad. This was very, very bad… but oh, so good. Better than anything I had ever felt in my life, and I was coiling toward the pure bliss of it. His hands were on my thighs, sliding up. He still continued to kiss me, and there was an intensity, an urgency to his movements.

He made this muffled laugh-growl against my lips, and his fingers found the edge of my panties. He shifted the elastic aside and then moaned against me. Without taking his lips from mine, he muttered against me. “Wet. Fuck.” Those two words telling me just how far his brain had devolved into caveman territory.

And then he was sliding his fingers into me. Two of them. No preamble, no foreplay. And God, I loved every second of it. I didn’t need the extras right now.

I was already so keen, so on-edge, and everything about this was wrong, and dirty, and so hot. I just need him closer. I needed more. I needed—

There was a loud banging at the door. Three sharp raps.

About the Author:

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone‘s love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she “borrowed” from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She’s been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion, and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

If It’s Only Love, a sexy new standalone contemporary romance by New York Times bestselling author Lexi Ryan.

Meet single dad Easton Connor as he leaves the NFL and returns to Jackson Harbor to fight for another chance with the love of his life.

***

I don’t regret much.

Not my decision to enter the NFL draft before finishing college.

Not fighting custody of my daughter—even if, biologically speaking, it turns out she’s not mine.

And certainly not seducing my buddy’s little sister ten years ago.

But when it comes to Shayleigh Jackson, my no-regrets attitude stops there. I screwed up royally where she’s concerned. Then I made another mistake when I let her shut me out of her life.

Now after more than a decade living in different time zones, I’m coming home to Jackson Harbor. My first priority is getting my daughter away from the media circus in LA, but the moment I see Shay, I know I’ll stop at nothing to win her back.

So what if she won’t speak to me? So what if she’s changed? So what if she’s fallen for some douchebag professor? I’ve never gotten over her and I know she feels the same about me. I’ve let her go twice. I won’t make that mistake again.

I huff out a laugh and prowl toward her. “What did you say?”

Those defiant eyes brim with tears and her bottom lip trembles. “I said do it yourself. I have nothing to say, but you’re the one so determined that we have this conversation.”

I come closer. She backs against the wall, and I keep coming until there are only inches between us. “That’s real mature, Shay.” I cup her jaw and stroke her bottom lip with my thumb as I study her face. “This is what you want?” I dip my head and bring my mouth a breath from hers. “You want me to corner you and make you talk? Maybe I need to remind you how good we are together.” I cock my head to the side, touching the bridge of my nose to hers. “You try to keep hating me, but you lose your grip on it when I get close, so I wonder what would happen if I got closer.”

Her breath is sweet against my lips, and she grabs my arms and curls her fingers into my biceps.

“Is that how it has to be, then? You want me to press you against this wall and kiss you until you can’t remember your name and can’t blame yourself for letting your guard down?”

Her pulse quickens beneath my fingers and her back bows as she arches into me. “We have nothing to talk about.”

“Bullshit. But maybe first you want me to track down that fucker you’re sleeping with—the one who you’re fine to let ‘see other people’? I could throw my weight around a little. He’d probably leave you alone just so he doesn’t have to deal with me.” I drag my nose along her cheek until my mouth is at her ear. “Then you wouldn’t have to tell him that you don’t want him. You wouldn’t ever have to admit that even after all these years, even after all the shit fate threw at us and all the mistakes I made, you still want me more than you’ll ever want him.”

She swallows, and when she draws in a breath, I think she’s going to deny it. But she doesn’t say a word. Her only response is sliding a hand up to cup the back of my neck. Fuck yes.

“I’m not going to do that for you.” It takes every drop of my will to force myself to step back. “I want you to talk to me. I want you to scream at me for every shitty decision I ever made. Then I want you to kiss me and tell me I get another chance. I want you to break it off with that douchebag completely and be with me, but I’m not going to do it for you.” I take another step toward the door. “You’re going to have to make the choice yourself.”

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of Marie Harte and I always look forward to her new books, especially in a series that I really enjoy!

Handle with Care is the third book in the Veteran Movers series and this is Evan’s story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this read but have to admit it’s not my favourite of the three to date.

Evan Griffith is a truly great guy. Loyal, caring and thoughtful he’s always there for friends and family. He’s suffered heartbreak in the past so isn’t looking for a relationship (much to his mothers vexation!), that’s until he meets Kenzie Sykes during on of the Vets on the Go! moving jobs.

Kenzie was a good character but god’s, she drove me round the twist….. I actually wanted to shout at Evan to move on and find someone worthy of him as she was so hot and cold with him. I got that she’d been hurt in the past and that she worried about the impact on her brother Daniel if she was in a relationship, but lordy, it was like she couldn’t see what a good guy Evan was and seemed unwilling to take a chance in him and get on with her life for too long.

This pair were perfect for each other and it was good to see Kenzie finally moving past her fears. I loved reading about Evan and Daniel’s growing friendship. The boy was clever, too clever for his own good at times, and Evan was a really good influence on the teen.

As always, it’s great to catch up with favourite characters from previous books and find out more about characters who I’m hoping are gonna tell their own tale – Smith especially!!!

Like I said, I really did enjoy the read, it had humour, heat, fun and feels but I hate to admit that at times I found it just a tad slow and Kenzie really did play on my nerves more than a little.

I’m giving Handle with Care 4*.

About ABANDON:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Rachel Van Dyken comes a new story in her Seaside Pictures series…

It’s not every day you’re slapped on stage by two different women you’ve been dating for the last year.

I know what you’re thinking. What sort of ballsy woman gets on stage and slaps a rockstar? Does nobody have self-control anymore? It may have been the talk of the Grammy’s.

Oh, yeah, forgot to mention that. I, Ty Cuban, was taken down by two psychotic women in front of the entire world. Lucky for us the audience thought it was part of the breakup song my band and I had just finished performing. I was thirty-three, hardly ready to settle down.

Except now it’s getting forced on me. Seaside, Oregon. My band mates were more than happy to settle down, dig their roots into the sand, and start popping out kids. Meanwhile I was still enjoying life.

Until now. Until my forced hiatus teaching freaking guitar lessons at the local studio for the next two months. Part of my punishment, do something for the community while I think deep thoughts about all my life choices.

Sixty days of hell.

It doesn’t help that the other volunteer is a past flame that literally looks at me as if I’ve sold my soul to the devil. She has the voice of an angel and looks to kill—I would know, because she looks ready to kill me every second of every day. I broke her heart when we were on tour together a decade ago.

I’m ready to put the past behind us. She’s ready to run me over with her car then stand on top of it and strum her guitar with glee.

Sixty days. I can do anything for sixty days. Including making the sexy Von Abigail fall for me all over again. This time for good.

Damn, maybe there’s something in the water.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

EXCERPT

Call it the science of breakups.

Nothing worked.

Not drugs.

Not alcohol.

Not music.

Not space.

Not even time. Because the memories were always there, and it was incredible how easy it was for your brain to conjure up smells, tastes, and feelings.

And since both Abigails and my career had erupted at the same time? Everything related to music was also tethered to her.

I put a pillow over my head and yelled into it.

She was desperate. But I felt like a weak piece of shit for letting her stay with me. I hated those guys: the ones that just wanted one morsel of the girl that got away and were willing to do anything, even exchange their dicks, for a pussy. Just so they could have one last look, taste, fill, call it whatever you wanted. I hated those guys.

They sucked.

The last thing I needed was to become that guy. Because I knew if she hurt me again, I would literally have nothing left.

And it was a terrifying thought, to say the least.

I put the pillow back behind my head and turned to my side, touching the wall with my fingertips like the biggest loser on the planet. I wondered how many inches separated the space between us. If I pressed my ear to the wall, would I hear her crying because of the storm? Or was she just dreaming about stabbing me in my sleep?

It was a toss-up. I mean, it always had been with us.

The thunder cracked again, scaring the shit out of me as I jumped out of bed and shut the guest bedroom window.

This was ridiculous.

At least I wouldnt have to see her at the music camp since Drew had gone to bat for me. I was headed to Trevors studio to help with his music students. He was so thankful that he could have more time with the kids and his new fiancée that I actually felt relief that I was finally helping and not making a mess of things.

It hadnt always been that way.

You knew there was something terrifyingly wrong when Drew, the f-up of the group, told you to put your big boy pants on.

Thunder cracked again.

Yeah, I was getting zero sleep tonight.

I grabbed my guitar on my way out to the living room, then snatched up one of my sharp number-two pencils from my satchel, along with my old, ratty, blue music notebook and sat on the couch. The front cover of the journal was almost completely torn off and had stickers from places Id visited covering it. No matter how many times I tried to buy a new one, I still kept this one and just stapled more pages into it. Maybe it was stupid, but it was a comfort to me.

The room was dark.

Silent.
Just the way I liked it.

I loved the power behind the drums, but there was something so intimate about playing the acousticjust me, my Gibson Les Paul, and my voice.

I strummed a few chords, switched to G, and kept strumming as my mind decided to torture me by way of memories.

So many damn memories.

HE WANTS TO LOSE CONTROL.

Between his parents’ messed up marriage and his narcissistic younger brother, Lincoln Moorehead has spent the majority of his life avoiding his family. After the death of his father, Lincoln finds himself in the middle of the drama. To top it all off, he’s been named CEO of Moorehead Media, much to his brother’s chagrin. But Lincoln’s bad attitude softens when he meets the no-nonsense, gorgeous woman who has been given the task of transforming him from the gruff, wilderness guy to a suave businessman

SHE’S TRYING TO HOLD IT TOGETHER.

Wren Sterling has been working double time to keep the indiscretions at Moorehead Media at bay, so when she’s presented with a new contract, with new responsibilities and additional incentives, she agrees. Working with the reclusive oldest son of a ridiculously entitled family is worth the hassle if it means she’s that much closer to pursuing her own dreams. What Wren doesn’t expect is to find herself attracted to him, or for it to be mutual. And she certainly doesn’t expect to fall for Lincoln. But when a shocking new Moorehead scandal comes to light, she’s forced to choose between her own family and the broody, cynical CEO.

Excerpt:

“You have a suit fitting tomorrow morning.”

“Tomorrow morning? I have lots of suits; I’ll make one of those work.”

“Are they like the ones you wore to the funeral?” I ask.

“Yeah, why?”

“Well, they may have fit you five years ago, but they certainly don’t fit you now. I’ll text you the details and add them to your personal calendar.”

“You can’t do that without my cell number.” His smugness would be grating if I wasn’t two steps ahead of him.

I flash a fake smile. “I already have all of your personal details, Lincoln. Right down to your shoe size. And you can’t be late like you were this morning, so it might be a good idea to avoid the scotch tonight so you’re less bear and more human. You’ll need to use these things called manners. I can email you a refresher on what those are, should you need it.”

“Sarcasm is a weapon of the weak.”

My ears are on fire as he heads for the door. Jerk. I was being witty, not sarcastic. “Thanks so much for offering to help clean up the mess you made.” I turn to address the crinkled papers scattered on the floor.

It’s common courtesy to offer assistance if you’re the one who made the damn mess. Even Armstrong, who is the most epic of douches, has some manners. Usually he’ll try to look up a skirt or down a shirt while he’s being polite, but it’s better than this.

I turn to retrieve the papers when two things happen, a power surge ramps up the box fans—it happens at least twice a day, and at the same time Lincoln pulls the door open again. The simultaneous actions create a vortex of air inside my office, and my skirt flutters into the air. Like I’m Marilyn Monroe and I’ve stepped onto one of those subway grates. The fabric rises quickly, and a breeze hits me right between the legs, which is the exact moment I remember that I’m not wearing panties. Because they were covered in the coffee Armstrong spilled in my lap.

I drop the papers and battle the fabric back down. It’s fruitless, though, the wind tunnel whirls through the room like Dorothy’s freaking tornado, and the back of my dress goes up. I meet Lincoln’s gaze from across the small room. All it takes is a second of eye contact before those ridiculously blue eyes pull me in, and weird, inappropriate things start happening to my body. It’s irritating as hell. I don’t even like this guy, but my body seems as if it hasn’t gotten the same memo as the rest of me. Even more aggravating is the realization that based on his expression, he totally caught an eyeful of cooch.

Lincoln stands frozen at the door, eyes wide and fixed on my crotch, mouth hanging open.

“Close the damn door!” My voice is siren high. And loud.

“Right. Yes. I’m going. Now.” He steps out of my office, pulling the door closed behind him.

My dress settles around my knees. “Dammit.” I drop into my chair, which is probably what I should’ve done as soon as the wind tunnel started, but clearly I’d been too panicked to think straight.

On the upside, I went to see my waxer last week, so he’s seen my girl bits when they’re looking their finest.

On the downside, my project for the next six months has seen my naked girl bits.

Blog Tour – KISS ME NOT by Emma Hart

KMN-BANNER-LIVE

What do you do when you’re the reigning kissing booth champion but the only person you want to kiss is your best friend’s brother?

Kiss Me Not, an all-new hilarious brother’s best friend romance from New York Times bestselling author Emma Hart is available now!

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00027]

Let me make this clear right here, right now: I, Halley Dawson, do not care that Preston Wright is kissing other women.

Not a lick. Not at all. Nuh-uh-freakin’-uh.

I do care that he’s doing it six feet away from me behind a gaudy velvet curtain—making him my competition in this year’s kissing contest.

Why do I care, you ask? Because I’ve had an unfortunate crush on the insufferable idiot since I was sixteen years old, but I also know it’s never going to happen.

He’s the Creek Falls bachelor to die for, and I’m the Creek Falls racoon lady who puts peanut butter sandwiches out for them every night.

I’m not going to let him break my four-year-long reign—no matter how many times he breaks the rules and slides the curtain across to do the one thing he’s not allowed to:

Kiss me.

“I never answered your question.”

“What question?” I darted my eyes to the side.

“Just now. You asked me if I wanted to kiss you.”

I did, didn’t I? Right. “Oh,” was all I said.

Slowly, he moved his hand to my chin and gently lifted it. Still, I didn’t look at him, keeping my eyes firmly trained on the front of the tent, even though I was facing him.

“Halley.”

“Yeah?”

“I want to kiss you.”

My eyes darted to his.

“I thought that’d do it.” His lips twitched, and he lowered his head until I had to fight the urge to close my eyes in anticipation of the kiss that was coming.

I swallowed, my lips parting.

Preston moved closer.

And he kissed my cheek.

I jerked out of whatever trance I’d just been in. “What the hell?”

He jumped off the stage, grinning. “I guess we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to break the stalemate, won’t we?”

“Oh, hell no!” I jumped off, stalking him to his side of the stage. “You just stood there in front of me and told me you want to kiss me, then kiss my cheek? The hell was that?”

His eyebrows shot up, amusement flashing in his eyes. “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you wanted to kiss me, too.”

“Irrelevant,” I shot back. “But you’re a special kind of asshole to tell a girl you wanna kiss her and then not do it.” I turned around, then stopped. “You know what? When I beat you tomorrow, you can kiss my ass.”

“You’re way too mad about this.”

“I’m not mad!” My voice raised a few octaves. “I couldn’t care if you want to kiss me or not. I most certainly don’t want to kiss you.”

“Why are you shouting at me?”

“I’m not—” I was shouting at him. “Whatever,” I said in a normal voice. “Make sure you take that money to the bank. Tell Tish I sent you.”

I left him on his side of the curtain and went to get my purse. He could get fucked. After all that where I think I was so damn nervous I broke a sweat, he didn’t even kiss me.

I wasn’t lying with what I said.

He could kiss my ass.

I’d even wear my good panties and bend over for him.

Excerpt:

Jessica…

I dart toward the door in the far right corner and enter the bathroom, where I find a giant old-fashioned, barrel-style tub. I open one of the white cabinet doors and also find a towel, but I’m just too wet for it to help. Like that woman was for Craig. Oh God. There I go again. No. No. No. I will not think those thoughts. No more. I’m done. With him. With her. I strip down naked, wrap the towel around me, and hunt for my suitcase, which I hope like heck has the other bag of chocolate I packed.

Naked might get a girl in trouble, but I’m alone and it’s not like anyone is going to see me naked anytime soon. I can go right ahead and happily pack a few pounds of chocolate weight on a petite frame that can’t handle a few extra anything. There will be no more men for me. Therefore, there will be no trouble to be found. It’s a great plan and on this one, really truly, I dare to say, what could go wrong? I exit the bathroom into the bedroom and scream at the sight of a man standing there.

The cowboy who saved me on the side of the road is not only here, minus his trench coat and wearing a snug black T-shirt, he’s bigger and broader than I remember. The bedroom shrinks. My heart races.

“I was right,” I accuse, clutching at my towel, the only thing between me and him besides footsteps. “You are a serial killer.” I search for a weapon and I don’t know why there’s a giant flashlight on the nightstand, but it’s long and strong, and I grab it, my new prize. I also manage to drop my towel. Oh my God, I’ve dropped my towel. Goose bumps lift on my naked body and, Lord help me, my nipples pucker.

I try to grab my towel and almost drop the flashlight, which is a better weapon than terry cloth. I commit to the flashlight and my state of undress. “I will hit you if you come near me,” I warn. “I mean, kill you.” That sounds unrealistic and therefore lacks the bite I intend. “I will hurt you.”

He arches a brow and, to my shock and his credit, he doesn’t so much as blink at anything below my neck. I don’t know if I should be appreciative or offended. Am I not distracting? Am I not worthy of a look? Obviously, my ex didn’t think so and—

The cowboy starts walking toward me.

“What are you doing? Stay back.” I hold up the flashlight, but I’m the one backing up, hitting the wall with a hard thud. He snatches up my towel and hands it to me, his hand brushing my nipple in the process. I suck in a breath, even as the flashlight is removed from my hand and tossed on the bed. “The game is over. Getting naked won’t stop me from calling the police.”

“I’ll knee you. I’ll scream. I’ll—”

“You’re standing in my property, sweetheart.”

“This is not—”

“And yet it is. You picked the wrong house to squat in and the wrong town. I saw where you turned off. I knew where you were headed. Wrong choice, sweetheart.”

“Stop calling me sweetheart. And what the hell are you talking about? Squatter? What is a—” A bad feeling hits me. “You think I’m freeloading by sneaking in here and now I’m trying to buy a bed with my naked body? Really?”

“If the shoe fits, sweetheart.”

I scowl. “Stop calling me sweetheart. Since when do women seducing men try to hit them with a flashlight? Then again, we are talking about you here. I’m pretty sure you could make anyone want to hit you. Maybe that’s the only foreplay you know. A flashlight and a—”

“Stop,” he orders, his hands pressing to the wall on either side of me, and now his big body framing my naked body.
