Demon throws the door open, shoving me inside and locking it behind us. He slowly strolls into the middle of the room, his large frame is very intimidating and no, I can’t ignore the fact that he is sexy but that doesn’t change who he is. “You’re lucky that it was me who found you.”
I look around the room, happy to see that there’s not as many guns on the desk than last time. “How so?” I ask.

I see the annoyance flash on his face. “Because if it was any of those other men out there, you would be naked, hung up and being raped repeatedly right now.”
My eyes widen from the shock of his words and he nods. “And you’re better?” I dare to ask.

A devilish grin appears across his face. “No, I’m not saying that but you need to watch how you speak to me.” I nod in answer. “Now sit on the sofa.”
I hesitate for a second but when I see the warning on Demon’s face, just daring me to disobey, I decide to take a seat. Demon quickly follows, standing over me. “How are you liking your new life with the Devil’s?” I’m shocked by his question, obviously I can’t say how much I hate it so I nod my head and smile. This makes him laugh down at me. “I think it’s time to give you your name.”

“I have a name.” I point out.
“Lauren?” He asks and I shouldn’t be shocked. He is Andrew’s uncle after all. “No, I don’t like that.” He reaches for my hair and swirls it around his finger. “I love your shiny black hair, makes me want to pull it as I fuck you from behind.” I gulp at his words. “That’s what I’ll call you.”

“What?” I’m confused. “Black hair?”
Demons laughs loudly. “No! Your name is Raven.” He rakes his big hands through my hair, it feels so good and I hate the fact that I close my eyes and savour it. “See Raven, I think you could really enjoy life here. You just need to relax.” He crouches down in front of me. “If you let the club look after you and let me take care of all your needs, you will have such a happier life.”
A happier life? Is this guy for real?

I don’t think this place is capable of providing a happy life for anyone, except maybe the members. Demon opens my legs and of course I do nothing to stop him. When he sees that I am naked under the skirt that was provided by Tracy, he smiles along with a groan. “See, you’re perfect.”

‘Shut Up and Kiss Me’ is a throwback to a time when a romance book was just that, a book about romance, a budding relationship, courtship if you will with all the nerves, emotions, sexual tension and awkwardness that go into getting to know each other, starting to build something together. Too many times, especially since the explosion of the Fifty Shades books, the market is saturated with so called romance books that are really just boy meets girl plus sex, lots of explicit, nothing else going on, sex and whilst I’m as up for a hot book as the next person there is sometimes not a balance – plot, characters, secondary cast, emotions plus romance and sex – all or some is good!

‘Shut Up and Kiss Me’ is an old fashioned straight-up chick lit romance but better written because these two authors , separately or together, couldn’t write a bad book. The plot’s been done before yes – millionaire playboy, girl with secret past, yada yada yada – so why pick this one up? Because both were born to write, the Horror Queen and the straight up Mistress of Words, no matter the genre there is no question of their talent, their ability to breathe fresh life into it and that this partnership is one to watch and devour.

Will is bored, jaded and looking for different, Mila is running from her past and wishing she could stand still and live. Their relationship unfolds with a twist, some suspense thrown in and two stellar secondary characters, Nikki and Richard * insert much swooning and drooling *, I’d like to see much more of Richard, he stole every scene he was in!

If you have read their previous works then you may be surprised as this a total departure from anything else they have written independently or together but enjoy the light and fluffy, then go explore the horror, the paranormal and the gritty, raw bikers because you won’t regret a second………………..

On the short drive home, with Joe riding my bumper, I still have way too much time to think. And what I’m thinking is that I’ve gone and lost my mind. Who says shit like that? I behaved like some two-bit sex operator and sounded no better. If I didn’t need both hands on the steering wheel, I’d have my face covered right now; I’m that embarrassed. Emotional. Too fucking emotional. It’s either flat or deep with me and it’s exhausting. BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

Well hell….Freya’s gone and done it again!!!

I’ve loved the Cedar Tree books since I picked up Slim to None and this series had just gotten better and better as it’s progressed. Clean Lines is another fantastic read!!!

This is Joe and Naomi’s story. We were introduced to both characters in the earlier Cedar Tree books and knew that there was some kind of history between them and it was interesting to find out just what had happened in the past.

Naomi is a great character. A hard working, strong, independent lady who is a single mum of a teenage son, oh yeah, she also has a distinct lack of trust when it comes to the opposite sex… admittedly she’s got reason to feel as she does and Joe, silly bugger that he can be, doesn’t give her any more reason to trust him when they first try to get together…. talk about misunderstanding and lack of communication………

and so to Joe – he’s the local sheriff and and an all round good guy, who unfortunately has had a slight tendency to bugger things up when it comes to Naomi. The bloke hasn’t had the easiest of times when it comes to relationships – gods has he made some poor choices where women are concerned – but when it comes to Naomi, following 3 years of her pretty much ignoring and avoiding him, he’s hellbent on making things right between them following their earlier disaster!

The budding relationship was fab to follow – and as ever with Freya’s writing, it felt very natural, real, is heartwarming and so very hot, steamy and sexy!!

Aside from the development of things between our lead characters, we found out what happened to make Fox, Naomi’s son, return to live with her after being with his dad for a while ~ this plot-line was fast paced, full of suspense, drama and action.

Our well loved characters from the series were once again present and as entertaining and involved in the action as you’d expect!! We also met some new characters (one in particular I wanted to slap senseless every time she appeared!!) and got an idea of which couple we’re likely to read about next – oh, I can’t wait for more from the Cedar Tree gang!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…. one of the biggest draws for me when it comes to these books is how real Freya makes the characters feel, I could so imagine being friends with them.
They aren’t perfect, they make mistakes, have problems and issue that they need to deal with and overcome but, when it comes down to it, they are a real family who will do whatever it takes to help one of their own (yeah, it’s a family of choice not design but that’s what makes them all the more special)

Ok, I’m gonna stop here…

Each book could be read as a standalone but you’ll enjoy them so much more if you start at the beginning and read them as a series!

I follow Adam’s gaze to see Ellie hurrying towards us, towing a friend by the hand. Ellie immediately latches on to Adam, prattling on about something or other. Tuning out the happy couple, I take a moment to check out Ellie’s friend, Kate. I’ve seen her around, mostly with Ellie, but she’s in my maths class as well. In fact, now that I think about it, we’ve been in school together a long time.
The fact that I didn’t remember her until now makes me frown, which in turn, makes Kate’s eyes go wide with fear. The girl is fiddling with her hair, pulling it up into a ponytail. She’s clearly uncomfortable around me, so, being the heartless prick that I am, I decide to make it worse.
“You’re Kate.”
When impossibly green eyes shoot up to meet mine, big and innocent looking, all of the smartass comments I have at the ready fall away. Smooth, lightly freckled skin flushes pink and full lips part, making my cock sit up and take notice. It’s then I realize I’ve never really looked at Kate before.

Probably very. Not that I care much what he thinks.
While I’m thinking of how she looks naked, she gathers herself together and answers my question. “Yes. I’m Kate.” Shit, even her voice affects me—soft and slightly scratchy in a sexy kind of way. Now my dick is throbbing, pressing uncomfortably against my zipper. I need to hear that voice again.
“I’m Dax. You’re in my maths class.”
Those emerald eyes get even wider and her jaw hangs open. “How do you know who I am?”
Huh?
“Why wouldn’t I know who you are? Haven’t we been in the same year for ages?” I furrow my brow, trying to decide if I’m thinking of a different girl. But no, it’s her, I’m sure of it.
“Y-y-yes. Since third year.”
I hold back a smile, keeping my cool exterior. At least I got that right. “Well then, apparently I’m not as stupid as some might say.”
Kate’s fingers untwist from her hair, settling on her hips. Lush, ruby lips turn down in the corners and her eyes narrow. She looks downright offended. “Who says you’re stupid? You’re in my advanced maths class, so I know that can’t be true.”
For once in my life I’m speechless. No one ever gives me the benefit of the doubt or defends my intelligence. Do I bother explaining to her that most people associate a big, muscled guy with an empty skull? Add in the underground fighting and they assume I’ve taken enough hits to the head to be rendered daft and dumb.
No one talks about it, but the teachers here know what I do—what my dad’s business is. I am the fourth Davies son at this school after all and they treat me accordingly. They don’t even bat an eye at the bruises anymore.
I tilt my chin to look down at her. Kate’s not at my eye level, but for a girl, she’s fairly tall—maybe five foot seven or eight? In those eyes, eyes as green as the stripes on the Davies family tartan, I see something I haven’t seen on a girl’s face in… well, ever. Admiration? Respect, maybe? Is it possible Kate respects me? That she sees past my intimidating exterior to the man beneath the brawn? That she sees more than just a conquest to brag to her friends about?
One of dad’s rules pops into my head.
Rule 2—Never let your emotions show.
I lock down the surprise on my face, keeping it to its usual icy façade.
What if she doesn’t like what she finds? I don’t know why I care, but suddenly, I don’t want Kate to know about the fighting, the girls, my family… those goddamn rules. For the first time in my life I’m not proud of my wins, of all the girls I’ve shagged or had suck me off at the club or behind the school. For once, I’m truly ashamed of what I am.

Quinlan

I walk toward him, the sight of him slightly unkempt with a carefree smile he hasn’t possessed for days calls to my libido on so many levels it’s ridiculous. He brings a shot of something to his mouth and I don’t even give a second thought to what it is because I know I’ll taste it on my lips momentarily.
He hums deep in his throat when I step up into his body and there is something so inherently sexy about the sound—knowing that I caused that reaction—that together with the feel of his firm body against mine lets me know there will be no interruptions this time.
He looks at me, eyes darkening and one hand sliding beneath my shirt a beat before our lips meet in a hungry, no-holds-barred kiss. His empty bottle clatters on the counter behind him so that his other hand can join in the temptation. I lose myself in the taste of the tequila on his tongue, and the hypnotizing feeling of his hands on my body.
The music thumps hard around us, the noise buzzes, and the faint scent of cigarette smoke wafts in from outside but it’s as if none of it hits me because I’m consumed by everything about him: his taste, his cologne, the groan I can’t hear but can feel against our connected chests, the heat of his body. “You’re trying to kill me aren’t you,” he jokes.

He grips my bare back and lowers his lips next to my ear. “It’s not nice to tease, Dani.”

Leaning my mouth against his jaw, I whisper, “Who says I’m teasing, Ky?”

Fisting my hair into his hand, he lines our faces together. “You’re always teasing, sexy. You love playing games with me. It’s what you’re good at.”

“Haven’t you heard,” I ask, rolling my tongue over my lips. “It’s my birthday. I’m officially too old for playing games.”

He kisses me and I let him. I’m not sure if it’s the alcohol, the atmosphere, the way that my sweat covered body feels against his. All I know is that I enjoy it too much for someone who’s just had her heart broken. My entire body melts against him as he works my tongue with his own. The familiar pull of hot desire grabs at my belly and my nipples harden. I consider pulling away, but I’m shoved to the side before I have the chance.

“Get the fuck off of her,” Sebastian growls.

“Whoa! Chill,” Kyle replies.

“It would be wise for you to say your goodbyes and walk away,” Sebastian suggests.

My blood runs cold when I look up at him. His gray eyes are edging dangerously close to black. His teeth are gritted and the vein on his forehead is visible. I watch as his flexed jaw clenches with tension. This is why I can’t be with him. The demons that live inside of him, fueling this aggression. I can’t be around it. I’m not safe.

“Let’s go, Kyle,” I say, desperately. “No one wants any trouble.”

“You can’t be serious,” Sebastian scoffs. “You’re not going anywhere with him, Danielle.”

He grabs my arm and I feel as though my heart leaps into my throat. Remembering to focus on my breathing, I fight the panic attack that I can feel coming on.

“Let go of me, Sebastian,” I reply. “This isn’t the place for this.”

“You’re not going anywhere, but outside with me,” he says, pulling me off the dance floor.

“I don’t think so, Black,” Kyle says. “I get it. You screwed things up and now you can’t live with yourself. I’ve been there, but this
possessive bullshit isn’t going to happen tonight. Danielle isn’t one of your properties. You don’t get to decide who can or cannot enter.”

Before I can say anything in my own defense, Sebastian’s fist meets Kyle’s jaw. I scream for them to stop, but it’s useless. Kyle stumbles a little before retaliating and hitting Sebastian on the corner of his eye. Everyone around us comes to a stop. I can barely hear my own thoughts as chants and screams break out from the crowd.
