He may be at a romance readers’ convention, but a naked woman in the elevator is not what horror writer Ryan Wheeler expects. Now he can’t take his eyes off of her—and not just because he saw her naked, though her luscious curves certainly aren’t helping the matter. She’s beautiful, funny, snarky…and a complication he doesn’t need.

Running into her teen heartthrob while naked wasn’t exactly part of romance novelist Andi Palmer’s weekend plans. Worse, he doesn’t recognize her and gives her a fake name. Years ago, he shot her down in the worst possible way, and now this? It’s time for a little down-and-dirty revenge.

Ryan’s more than a little turned on by this good girl who wants to be bad. But things aren’t what they seem, and the secrets they’re keeping from one another might just end this sexy little rendezvous before it ever begins….

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

3.5* – overall a good read. I liked the twist but a few lines were just a bit too cheesy for me (and I wish Andi had stood up for herself a little more at points)

REVIEW ~ Pistol Fanny’s Hank & Delilah by Annie Rose Welch

REVIEW

Pistol Fanny’s Hank & Delilah
by
Annie Rose Welch

Blurb:

Never fall in love with a bank robber.

Especially if she’s the one who robbed your bank, took you hostage, and dumped you unconscious at the local convenience store. And definitely not if you are the assistant district attorney of Tupelo, Mississippi.

This is the advice Hank Huckleberry Rivers would have given himself, back when he was a man who vowed to always walk on the right side of the law. The same law that had seemed sacrosanct ever since the day he and his friends watched as two men were murdered right below their tree house.

Falling in love with a dangerous criminal can have life-altering consequences, though. And when the past and the present meet head-on, Hank finds himself in more trouble than he ever bargained for. He must run to save his life, daring to find answers to the questions threatening his safety and his heart, as the killer below the tree house comes after Hank—and his pistol-wielding bank robber.

It’s a simple case of love in the first degree.

BLP REVIEW  ~ Tracy

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I started reading this book but whatever it was didn’t even get close to what I found! Hank & Delilah’s story was a riot.

It was a quirky, engaging and very entertaining read packed with action, adventure, mystery and romance. The story had an old fashioned feel to it at times – possibly down to Del and her music choices and how she lived her life, I’m not entirely sure – but I loved it. I laughed a lot during the read but it wasn’t all fun times, there were some sad and serious events that shaped both our main characters.

Both leads were very likable and I was rooting for them from the off. Hank had a great sense of humour and his take on people and events tickled me. His persistence and determination to win Delilah round was endearing, while at the same time I could understand Del’s hesitation and slight reluctance to become involved with him!

We were introduced to a whole host of characters that give us an idea of the kind of lives our couple lead.. When we first met Hank’s friends they were young and total boys and it was interesting to see who they had grown and how they had changed now that they were older – but the one thing that stayed constant for this little gang was their loyalty and friendship.
Delilah’s family seemed never ending (this for me is where I had to keep up and really pay attention, it could be quite easy to lose track of who’s who at points). The love and support that they had for each other was obvious and you didn’t doubt for a second that they would do anything for each other. Look out for Freud, Del’s beloved dog, he’s nigh on human at points in his mannerisms and behaviour!!
The main themes that ran through the story related to friendship, trust, loyalty and being there for the ‘family’ that you care about (and as is true in real life, this family is not always of blood but often of choice).

If you’re looking for a book that’s a little different from your normal read, that has the lot going on and will keep your attention, give Pistol Fanny’s a go. You won’t regret it!

Hank and Delilah get 4 pistol toting stars from me!!

About the Author1437040697

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. She currently (still) resides in the big shake (although her southern roots are calling her home) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Synopsis:

David Cruz is good at two things: war and training dogs. The ex-soldier’s toughest case is Atlas, a Belgian Malinois whose handler died in combat. Nobody at Hope’s Crossing kennel can break through the animal’s grief. That is, until dog whisperer Evelyn Jones walks into the facility . . . and into Atlas’s heart. David hates to admit that the curvy blonde’s mesmerizing effect isn’t limited to canines. But when Lyn’s work with Atlas puts her in danger, David will do anything to protect her.

Lyn realizes that David’s own battle scars make him uniquely qualified for his job as a trainer. Tough as nails yet gentle when it counts, he’s gotten closer to Atlas than anyone else—and he’s willing to put his hard-wired suspicion aside to let her do the same. But someone desperate enough to kill doesn’t want Lyn working with Atlas. Now only teamwork, trust, and courage can save two troubled hearts and the dog who loves them both . . .

Excerpt:

David Cruz studied the woman standing in the front waiting area with equal parts irritation and interest. The room had an open design to accommodate dozens of owners and their dogs comfortably with enough space to prevent tussles the humans might not be able to break up without a trainer’s help. Of course, the area was empty of other people and dogs at the moment and this little bit of trouble filled the room just fine on her own. Her neat dress suit had to have been tailored to a fit so exact, it might as well have been a military dress uniform. And she wore it as if she was ready for inspection, her posture perfect with her shoulders straight, her chin up, and her hands easy at her sides. If her thumbs lined up with the side seams on her skirt, he’d have wondered if a cadet had gotten lost from the nearby military academy.
The severe grey fabric didn’t leach color from her face though, instead the contrast set off her peaches and cream complexion. Made him think of a dish of ice cream on a hot day. And even standing still, she radiated energy. Charisma. Like she could burst into motion at a moment’s notice and heaven help the man who got in her way. He had an urge to step right up and see if she could run him over.
Not likely, but it’d be fun to let her give it a try.
“Look, Miss…”
“Jones. Evelyn Jones.” Her sharp tone cut across his attempt to address the current issue with any semblance of calm. “Any and all documentation you might need is right there in the folder I handed you. If you’ll verify it instead of wasting both of our time trying to send me away, I’ll be able to get to what I’ve been sent here to do instead of standing around engaging in a pissing contest.”
Well, she’d come in ready for a fight.
Head held high and standing as tall as she could, her hackles would’ve been raised if she’d been a dog. The mental image was entertaining, to be honest, especially since her blonde hair was pulled back in a no-nonsense ponytail combined with the stylish poofed up effect. No idea why women did that but hell, she looked good.
And he did take a minute to appreciate her as she was: compact, curvy, and hot enough to catch the attention of every male on two legs walking the property. But her impact on the four-legged variety remained to be seen.
He could do without her glaring attempt at intimidation though and he wondered whether he shouldn’t send her sweet ass right on back out the door. If she crossed her arms over her admittedly impressive chest or otherwise altered her body language to increase her aggressive stance, he would. If her attitude was enough to scratch his temper, the dog she was here to see would rip her to shreds.
“Your credentials aren’t in question, Miss Jones.” He raised his hand to forestall another interruption. He’d had plenty of experience with her kind of sprint-out-the-gate, establish credibility immediately personality. It didn’t intimidate him one bit but he also wouldn’t be rushed. “As I was about to say, you could wait here and be run over by the incoming class of two-year-olds or you can come on in to the office area and have a cup of coffee while I make a few calls.”
She blinked and her cheeks flushed. “I…of course. A cup of coffee would be appreciated.”
Somehow, he doubted that considering the sour tone of her voice. It took some effort not to grin at her discomfort. “Glad you decided to come along. The two-year-olds aren’t a bad batch but their handlers are in some serious need of training. Go figure. ”
The corner of her very kissable mouth quirked. “Isn’t it always the human side of the pair in need of the real training?”
Now, they had some common ground after all. At least when it came to civilians.
But if he wanted to be fair—and hell, who did?—Military dog handlers needed heavy training at the beginning too. Especially if they wanted to reach the level of excellence required of a special forces working team.
He led her past the receiving desk and down a short hallway to a smaller area with chairs arranged for easy conversation. They had one of those little one cup coffee makers and she seemed fine fixing up her own mug. He preferred his coffee brewed in a real pot and none of those handy automated gadgets managed a strong enough brew.
The whole host and good manners thing dispensed, he headed for his office. “If you’ll just wait here…”
“It would save time if you showed me Atlas. I could introduce myself to him while you’re making your call.”
He halted, his temper simmered back up to the surface. “With all due respect, Miss Jones, you’re not meeting Atlas until I’ve straightened out exactly what is going on here.”
“It’s fairly straight forward. I’ve been brought in at the request of the Pentagon to work with the dog you refuse to introduce me to.” At the edge of his peripheral vision, her movement caught his attention. A slight raise of the chin. “It would save you time if you would take my suggestion before I make a call of my own.”
He studied her for the few seconds it took for his irritation to cool enough for polite conversation again. All bravado and possibly some real bite behind her threat. It depended on exactly who at the Pentagon had contracted her.
“You could save us even more time and leave now.” He turned to face her, calling her bluff. Lesser men backed down immediately under his glare. Took her a full five seconds to drop her eyes. “As far as the United States Air Force is concerned, Atlas was placed under the care of Hope’s Crossing Kennels with me as his official trainer. Currently, I’m willing to go through due diligence and consider a joint effort if your consulting credentials are confirmed. But if you truly did your homework on Atlas and this facility, you would know you either work with us or you are escorted off the property. This is not a general kennel where consultants are allowed to stroll in and work independently.”
After all, Hope’s Crossing Kennels wasn’t just a training facility for domestic pets. And the trainers who lived here weren’t civilians.

Under Covers Final Cover

Blurb

Halfway through her first year on the job, Melissa Montclair decides the best part of teaching is winter break.

And the best part of break is the Perfect Ten she meets in a bar on New Year’s Eve. Why not celebrate a semester under her belt with a Perfect Ten in her pants? The one night affair is all she hoped for, until she walks into school a week later and sees Mr. Ten is Student Twenty-nine on her roll call.

She should be mortified—and she is—but that doesn’t stop her from banging him again. And again.

And again.

So much for job security.

Posing as an exchange student at Hamilton High is finally the assignment Officer Spence Vega has been hoping for. Now he has a shot at getting to the bottom of the town’s recent molly epidemic. There’s only a couple of problems: first, history is taught by the curvy bombshell he banged on New Year’s. Second, his growing suspicion is that she’s the dealer he’s looking for.

The job was supposed to be an easy in-and-out, not the teacher.

If only they could stop getting under the covers, staying undercover would be so much easier.

Excerpt

I run my hands across the small of her back softly, swaying against her as she arches into me. We are dancing without music, a sexy tango of clothes and lips. (See what I did there? Tango. Oh wait, that’s Argentina. Never mind.) And soon she is standing in nothing but lace. I run my hands over the swells of her breasts and relish in her gasps and moans. She’s wound tight, and I plan to play her like a violin. (That one works much better.) Her bra drops to the floor, and she stands flushed and unashamed before me.

My teacher. Goddamn. I am going to go home and sponsor two more orphans.

“Take off your panties,” I order.

She hooks her thumbs into the elastic and spins in a slow circle, leading with her ass. Slowly, she slides them down, her shapely ass still in the air, and lifts one leg at a time, my own private strip show. All we’re missing are the glasses and the chaste updo. Although, truly, I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. She’s totally bare, always a treat, and already I can remember her sweet taste on my tongue. I pick her up, and she wraps her legs around my waist, giggling as I spin her around. I set her on the island and kiss her cheeks, her neck, across her collarbone, and down to those tits I’ve been longing for.

Each nipple pebbles under the warmth of my tongue, like they were waiting for this very moment.

Like they were waiting for me. The two new orphans I promised to care for. She drops her head backwards and moans, encircling her arms around my neck. I secure her to me with my right arm and use my left hand to cup each breast as I adore it with my tongue. I can’t stop thinking of what sheer perfection her body is. She smells like a honeycomb, tastes the same, and her skin is as soft as silk. Our bodies move together like they were made for one another, calibrated to the other exactly.

It’s the most intimate moment I’ve ever shared with someone, and we haven’t even gotten to the sexing yet. I said I was riding a unicorn before, but this girl is a unicorn.

My cock begins to ache in anticipation, rising again to the challenge. I lay her down gently across the island, my own personal feast, and bend over her. I can’t stop my hips from moving as I kiss her again, and work my way back down her body. Past the delicious swells of her breasts, down the tight curves of her stomach, past her cunt smelling incredibly of her sex. I love on her legs and her calves, paying special attention to the tender skin behind her knees and on her upper thighs.

She growls playfully, wriggling her body each time my lips cross over the spot she wants me most, but I don’t give in. Instead I give her a single long, slow lick down her blissfully pink pussy and return to her stomach, then back up to her breasts. Her nipples are tight nubs and I gently bite down on each.

“Tease,” she breathes.

I only grin wickedly at her. After all, she’s the one who suggested that this last all evening.

“Lick me.” She’s (impossibly) even sexier when she commands me.

“Only when you beg me.” She might be my teacher, but I can show her a thing or two myself.

She shudders a little. “I never beg.”

“Tonight you will.”

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I really wanted to like ‘Undercovers’…. the blurb sounded like it would be a lot of fun, but sadly it didn’t live up to my expectations.

The initial meeting of Spence and Melissa was great. A bit of banter, a definite attraction and smokin’ hot sex, what’s not to like about that!? Then we get to their second encounter where Spence, unknown to Mel, is undercover as a student at the high school she teaches at and, to be honest, pretty much from then on out the story didn’t grab me as much as I’d hoped.

Although they were likable enough I didn’t connect with the characters much at all.
Spence was a funny guy and his thoughts were amusing but at times he sounded like a 15 year old and not a man in his 20s (yeah, I know he was ‘undercover’ as a 19yo but the way things were worded when we read what he was thinking occasionally came across as a bit young for his character….. maybe it’s just me and I’m getting old… 😦 )
I thought Melissa was gonna be a lot of fun and would give our undercover detective a run for his money but she stressed and dithered so much about what she should do about him that I ended up wanting to shake her more than a few times…

I’d have liked to have known more about the characters and a little more development of their relationship would have been good. I felt that the story rushed along pretty quickly and at the end things were wrapped up neatly way too fast.

A 3* read for me that, with a little more character depth, would have been more.

** I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Silent Love

Former Navy SEAL Sean Millen has been perfectly fine with his bachelorhood until recently, when he realizes he’s unhappy with his single status. Unfortunately, his playboy reputation doesn’t offer him the type of woman that could fulfill his days and nights as well as settle into the specific life he envisions.

Four years ago, Beth Connors’ world was entirely altered. Beth spends her days trying to remain invisible in order to avoid unwanted attention. Each night she sheds grief-filled tears over the former life she once led but will never be able to regain.

When Beth literally runs into HIM. Doctor Sean Millen. A force of nature. A rock. A reputable heartbreaker, who takes an immediate interest in her, there’s no place for her to hide. But Beth’s natural instinct to push Sean away to save herself and him from the difficult task of adjusting their lives to her shortcomings is always front and center. Yet, Beth secretly longs for love. Is she strong enough to tear down the walls of her self-imposed prison?

Sean finds himself falling for a woman who is determined to reject his every advance and deny their surprisingly deep connection. Can Sean push past Beth’s concrete walls that she refuses to destroy? Or will Beth’s shocking revelation of her past prevent them from finding the love they both deserve? Or will a tragic accident pull Sean and Beth apart permanently?

Unexpected Love

Ryan Millen. Notorious playboy. Forever a bachelor. Never one to settle. Loves his one-night-stands. Ryan has loved his single status without any desire to settle down into a permanent relationship. Why would he? To be in a relationship requires work and sacrifice. Why go through all that trouble to make himself miserable just to make a woman happy?

Lynn is struggling to get by day-to-day. Thirty-two years old, she can’t find a job in a saturated market. She can no longer afford to pay the bills with her minimum wage job after her ex dumped her while she’d been in middle of nursing school. He walked out on her to “find himself.” Now she finds herself on her brother’s doorstep, begging for a place to stay so maybe she can find a way to crawl out of the hole she’s been swallowed by. Embarrassed by her situation, she vows never to become dependant on a man again.

Ryan’s world is turned upside down when one of his one-nighters throws a wrench into his perfect single life. He loses himself not knowing how to handle a situation he never wanted. His life spins out of control, about to lose his job and his mind.

An opportunity crosses Lynn’s path that she’d never considered. An opportunity to possibly gain financial independence. An opportunity her brother warns her not to take. An opportunity she can’t refuse.

Will Ryan’s new world destroy him or can he accept it and move forward with a chance for a life he’d never planned, but if he embraces could open up his heart for an unexpected surprise. Can Lynn save Ryan from himself? Can Lynn allow herself to open up to Ryan and trust again? What happens when they push against the natural draw they have towards one another?

And what happens when Ryan’s one-nighter reappears, set out for revenge?

Dangerous Love

Warning, book 3 of The Love Series is about bad boy extraordinaire Derk Forester. This novel contains strong/foul language, violence, and sex. After all, he works for the mob. No rainbows or kittens in his story. Possibly a puppy. But if that mixture is up your alley, have at him. Oh, and no cliffhangers in this series.

Derk Forester is a man who’s used to getting what he wants when he wants. He takes, conquers, then saunters away in all aspects of his life – work and play. Years embedded deep in the mob and a sour taste for relationships, he has zero desire to find a permanent partner to make a home with. His carefree lifestyle leaves him with a long list of inconsequential, bed-rocking, no-strings-attached women. A daily life he relishes until he meets…her. The one woman who could alter his world. The one woman he can’t get out of his head. The one woman who could bring him to his knees. The one woman that could be used against him.

If it wasn’t for bad luck, Mackenzie Hiland would have no luck at all. A cheating husband, shafted by the courts, no money or home, her life is a dismal list of horrible choices and even worse consequences. After acknowledging she needs to change her decision making skills, Mackenzie can’t help but to be lured in by the dangerous man, who’s taken an interest in her and is blatant in his desire to get her into his bed. Despite the fact she tries to distance herself from Derk, he refuses her rejections. Will Derk become another addition to the long list of regretful decisions she’s made? Could Derk possibly be the man that doesn’t screw her over? Or will Derk be the one choice that finally takes her to a point of no return?

Taken Love

The contemporary romance The Love Series comes to a conclusion with Taken Love. Questions will be answered, relationships and lives hang in the balance, and everything you thought you knew about the Murphy family will be turned inside out in the matter of one tragic event.

Smith has worked for the Murphy family for years. A powerful and dangerous organized crime family that rules the Northeast. He spends his days and nights with only one goal, to get through to the next day, watching his boss’s back. A past he avoids at all costs leaves him with a cold, lonely bed and no possibility of future relationships. Until she needs his help. His good conscious won’t allow the young woman to pay for her mother’s indiscretions. One rash decision has him doing the one thing he’s never done in all the years he’s worked for the Murphy family.

Cara O’Hara has lived a hard life. A life altered by her father’s death when she was a young girl. Now she spends her days trying to care for her mother, who’s lost to a world of drugs, alcohol, and sex. Cara has nothing. No friends, relationships, or any semblance of a normal life. But nothing prepares her for the threat that Cara’s mother has now hindered her with. A debt her mother owes but can’t repay. A debt that the collectors decide taking Cara as payment is perfectly acceptable. She unexpectedly finds herself fighting for her life, literally, as she’s dragged from her home and shoved in to the trunk of a car. In that moment, her life is forever changed.

Can Smith help save Cara from the men who will inevitably end up placing her in an early grave? Will Cara’s overwhelming presence distract Smith from the mundane life he’s created for himself? What happens when both their worlds collide on an unexpected and unwelcome course? How does Smith handle his attraction to the beautiful woman whose life he’s devoted to saving? How does Cara deal with a man who’s closed off in every way? And what happens when the men who want Cara seek revenge?

Everyone will pay, including those important figures in the Murphy family.

The Love Series is an awesome, fantabulous set of books!!!
I highly recommend reading all of Casey Clipper’s books.

Silent Love

Sean is a cardiac surgeon, 38, and single. He lives with his best friend, his brother Ryan. Sean and Ryan are more like identical twins than simply brothers. They are both former Navy Seals and drop dead gorgeous.

Beth is 28, single, beautiful, and works at the hospital handling medical claims. She has also been deaf for over 4 years. Beth suffers from insecurity due to her deafness.

When Sean and Beth meet, he is determined they will have a relationship. Beth thinks she will be a burden and is unworthy. Sean sets out to prove to Beth that she is deserving of a good life and worthy of his love.

I really enjoyed this book. I can relate to the characters and the situations. The plot moves at a good pace. I like the way the characters work out their difficulties through open, honest communication like mature adults. I could understand Beth’s parents being overly protective. I thoroughly enjoyed the relationship between Sean and Ryan.

That being said, I felt the inclusion of Courtney to add extra drama was unneccessary and detracted from my overall enjoyment of the book. Beth dealing with her entirely understandable insecurities and Sean learning how to get Beth to understand how special she was to him was all the story needed. I would have given it 5 Stars except for this.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes HEA Romances.

Unexpected Love

Ryan Millen is a NICU nurse, former Navy Seal, and confirmed bachelor. He loves taking care of the fragile newborns but doesn’t want any kids of his own. When a woman giving birth declares Ryan is the father and she is giving the baby up for adoption, Ryan has to face the responsibilities of being a single dad. Enter Lynn, an R who can’t find a job in a saturated market. She becomes Brady’s nanny and immediately falls in love with him. Who wouldn’t fall in love with a precious baby. Trouble is, Ryan and Lynn develop feelings for each other but neither believes it is a good idea to act upon those feelings. Can they get past their misgivings and find their HEA?

This is another HOT, sexy couple who I thought would cause my ereader to overheat!! They don’t simply create sparks– they cause a fire!! I love Lynn’s sassy attitude. It is a perfect match for Ryan’s fun-loving ways. I loved how Lynn didn’t hold back when she told Ryan off concerning his behavior and his attitude toward Brady.

I was very pleased to see Ryan struggling, both physically and emotionally, with his role as daddy. I feel his behavior was right on the mark. Realistic. Granted, not all men would have the same reactions Ryan did. Some men want to have kids. Ryan didn’t. I applaud Casey Clipper for the way she wrote their relationship. I won’t spoil it but I loved the outfits. You’ll understand when you read it. So cute!

I was hooked from the first page to the last. Couldn’t put it down. All the characters are complex and well-developed. Did I mention the sex is Hot? Well, it is. Not too graphic, which I like. I most definitely recommend you read Unexpected Love. Actually, the entire Love Series. They are all interconnected but are stand-alone stories.

Dangerous Love

Dangerous Love is Book 3 in the Love Series. Everyone from the first 2 books is back in Book 3 but the story focuses on Derk Forester, Derrick Murphy’s henchman.

Mackenzie grew up in foster care and never knew what love was. She married the first man to show an interest in her. Trouble was, he didn’t really love her. In the divorce he got everything leaving Mackenzie with nothing. She is determined to get her life in order and to find love.

When Derk sees Mackenzie, he wants her in his bed. No commitment, just sex until he has had enough and moves on. Problem is, Mackenzie won’t settle for that. Derk comes on too crude, too bossy, and too arrogant– typical Derk behavior. He realizes he needs to back off and start over with a different approach. Derk spends time with Mac and she gets under his skin. He begins to realize he wants Mac in his future. Mac isn’t so sure she wants Derk in her life once she finds out what he does for a living. Derk sets out to change her mind.

Once again, Casey Clipper has written an excellent book. She brings her characters to life as fully developed individuals– warts and all. There were times I wanted to wring Derk’s neck and slap him silly for being such a Neanderthal. Other times, I was touched by how he cared for Mac. How he wanted to prove to her how wonderful she was. How he wanted to bring her into the Murphy family so she could learn what it was like to have people who really cared for her and had her back. I liked Mac because she wasn’t jealous of Derk’s relationships with Courtney and Beth. She was secure in herself and in his feelings for her.

Personally, I would have never thought I would care for people in the mob. Especially one with Derk’s “talents”. In Casey’s hands, these characters are likeable. That speaks volumes about her talent.

I’ve read all 3 books in this series. I loved all of them. I am impatiently awaiting Book 4! I highly recommend the entire Love Series to anyone wanting to read a terrific, highly entertaining story. Derrick Murphy insists on it!

Taken Love

WOW!!!! Casey Clipper ended the Love Series with a bang! A BIG BANG!!! I don’t know where to start. Leaving me speechless is not an easy task. Just ask anyone who knows me!

Okay, where to start….Taken Love is supposed to be Smith’s story. And it is but it is also so much more. Turns out Smith does have a first name. Hunter. Kind of appropriate considering his line of work. Turns out he also is tired of his lonely life and wishes he could have a more normal, meaningful life. Enter Cara, a woman who has had a hard life. If not for bad luck, she’d have no luck at all. Smith is determined to protect her at all costs and in the process falls in love. Their romance is different than the others in the series. They have more obstacles to overcome– including staying alive.

We meet a mob boss in this story who is worse than Derrick Murphy. He doesn’t even play fair by mob standards. Derrick ticks me off big time in Taken Love. In several different ways. Suffice to say, I now loathe the man. Jack isn’t much better. I won’t go into details because I hate spoilers. All I will say is I think you will be surprised by some of the things revealed in this story. No, they aren’t unbelievable, just shocking. And disappointing.

Like the rest of the series, Taken Love held my interest from the first word to the last period. I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. At the same time, I didn’t want the book to end because I knew the series was over. Casey promises we will see these characters again and for that I am glad. It won’t be the same though because the story won’t be theirs. We will also get short stories centering on the mannies. So, it isn’t goodbye. Just so long. Hope to see you soon.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, I highly recommend Taken Love. I definitely recommend the entire Love Series and everything else Casey Clipper has written. She is a must read on my list of authors. If you like a well-written romance that breaks out of the cookie cutter mold, check out Casey Clipper’s books. You won’t be sorry.

He wants her to hold his wood . . .

Max is the sole reason Breezy can’t keep a boyfriend. Every boyfriend she has ever had breaks up with her the moment they meet him. It’s not because of his eight-pack, or his panty shredding smile, no, the reason Breezy remains single is because Max is her best friend and also her roommate.

When Breezy’s new boyfriend dumps her after meeting Max for the first time, Breezy is determined to cure her boyfriend woes by challenging Max to a bet after a night of drunken dancing: she can’t click her mouse, he can’t wrestle his snake, and neither one can say the word sex or they lose. It was a simple game of abstinence, until Max decides to tempt Breezy into a hilarious game of innuendos. Now the only thing harder than Max’s “wood”, is figuring out just where their friendship lies after all bets are off.

 Review

I was intrigued when I read the blurb for Innuendos so when I got the opportunity to read an ARC I jumped at the chance – and I’m so glad that I did!!! Started it late evening and read pretty much through the night as I was enjoying the story so much!

Bree and Max have been best friends since high school and are now flatmates. They have a fantastic relationship and are there for each other no matter what.

Max is most definitely my new favourite book boyfriends – he was hot, sexy (yeah, I did have to overlook his – totally warranted – manwhore status!! – but that was explained!!) he was attentive, thoughtful, caring and very funny!! Totally understood why he was Bree’s best friend!!

Bree was totally suited to her bestie – she just couldn’t see him in that light. Too afraid that doing more than flirt with him would ruin their friendship regardless of how attracted she is to him. Her desire to be in a lasting relationship always falls at the hurdle where her latest flame meets Max (he seems to bring out the bf’s insecurities, amongst other things). After her latest breakup – yep, you guessed it, ‘cos of her hottie flatmate – they come up with a ‘no sex’ challenge. Double entendres and innuendos are all grand – they just can’t directly mention or have sex (with others or anyone else!). I honestly haven’t laughed so much reading a book in quite some time. The comments came thick and fast (yeah, that was totally intended!! 😉 ) and Bree gave Max back as good as she got (is that another one?!?!) 😀

There’s a lot more to the story that I’m not gonna tell you, that you need to read yourself!
Supporting characters were really entertaining – especially loved Maggie and her beau. Can’t wait for more in this series!

If you enjoy a great laugh out loud read with a good storyline, go 1-C yourself a copy of Innuendos and settle in for the duration – I promise you, you won’t want to put your eReader down once you get started on this fabulous book!!!
If you enjoy the books of Tara Sivec and/or Alice Clayton, Max & Bree’s story will be up there on your list of faves I’m sure..

I rate Innuendos 5 gloriously funny stars – *****

ARC received in exchange for an honest review. Enjoyed it so much I’ve also bought my own copy!

“Did you touch my panties?” she accuses.

“Excuse me?” I ask innocently.

“My panties did you touch them?”

This couldn’t go more perfectly than if she was a dummy and I was a ventriloquist. “I’m still not following. I usually ask permission before fondling undergarments.”

“You’re incorrigible, I’m serious, Max. Did you touch my panties?”

“How were your panties touched?”

“You know exactly how they were touched, because you were the one touching them.”

“It would help if you were a little more specific on how I touched your panties.”

“You shoved them to the side.”

“I did?” It’s so hard not to laugh.

“You shoved them to the side and stuck your penis in between them.”

Now I’m giggling. This is going perfectly. “I think I would remember if I shoved your panties to the side and stuck my penis anywhere.”

Obviously she’s too sleepy to get the hilarity of this conversation because her face is angry red. She stomps back into her room and comes back out with the bright green dildo I left in her drawer.

“See I have your penis in my hands! You stuck it my drawer after shoving my panties to the side.”

Now I’m laughing hysterically.

“What?” she asks angrily. “You have no idea how hot this conversation is, do you?”

Finally, she wakes up. “You just won’t stop will you?”

“Stop what?”

“Trying to win the bet. You’ve gone to the dark side, Max. This bet has made you officially lose it.”

“How so?”

“You’ve resorted to touching my panties.”

I grin. “Well, if I have to resort to something, touching panties is at the top of my list.”

“Fucking monkey suck nuts, you’re naked!” She screeches covering her eyes.

“How was your day, Dear?” I ask ignoring her.

She peeks through the slats in her fingers. “Put some clothing on. We don’t live in a nudist colony, you exhibitionist!” She’s still yelling, which makes my smile spread.

“I made spaghetti, your favorite.”

“Put some pants on!”

I’m entirely too turned on by her ordering me around like this, and I feel my dick getting hard. Her expression is priceless. “Fuck, its rising. It’s practically waving at me.”

She’s still peeking through her fingers. It’s like when there’s an accident on the freeway. You don’t want to look, but feel compelled to when you pass by. That’s Breezy right now—she’s totally rubber necking my dick.

“I was wondering if you could taste my balls for me.” Oh my god, I could die right now. It’s killing me that I can’t laugh.

Her mouth drops. “I am soooo not sucking on your balls.”

“I need a taster, I’m wondering if they’re too salty.Focus Max. Do not laugh.

“I’m not tasting your balls, salty or otherwise.” Her eyes drop to my nut sack and I see her briefly lick her lips. This is so working.

“There’s always good and bad, all mixed together.”
“Exactly.” He finally looked at her, pinning her in place with his gaze. “Though I’ll admit there’s more good to this situation than I would have expected.”
Desire rose up in a tidal wave that had shivers working their way through her body. Good lord, the man knew how to turn a conversation into something else entirely with a single look. She reached for her wine again, only to find the glass empty. Keep it together, Callie. You know how to flirt.
Yes, she did. But this wasn’t harmless flirting. Nothing about Teague was harmless. He saw too much. He was an O’Malley. And, perhaps most importantly, he was going to be her husband in a very short time.
He seemed to realize her mind was going a million miles a second, because he sat back, breaking the moment. “Now I have a question for you.”
“Yes?” She put as much nonchalance into her tone as she possibly could. The candlelight played along his cheekbones and jaw, the shadows dancing over his cheeks, following a path her fingers itched to trace. What was wrong with her? She should be focusing on what their next move was, not on how intimate it was to sit this close to him.
“Would you have actually married Brendan if someone hadn’t done you the favor of offing him?”
She looked into his dark eyes and couldn’t lie. “No.” That man was a monster. She might regret the events that had brought her to that horrible strip club and put a gun into her hands, but once she knew the truth about him, she never could have signed her life away to him. And if it took her all of a week to find out what kind of man he was, Papa should have known a long time ago. She shifted, the realization sitting like a block of concrete in her stomach. Had he known and gone forward with the engagement anyway?
He must have. There was no other explanation.
“Which begs the question—are you planning on marrying me?”
It shouldn’t be different—Teague was just as much a stranger as Brendan had been. But it was different. Even knowing him such a short time, she couldn’t shake the belief that he’d never raise a hand against her. That didn’t mean she could trust him, though, unexpectedly revealing information or not. He was loyal to his family first and foremost, the same way she was.
She wanted Teague, and a part of her that didn’t have a lick of sense thought she could trust him. That, more than anything else, made him a potential threat in a way that Brendan never could have been.
“That’s quite the proposal, Teague O’Malley.”
He grinned, completely unrepentant. “I plan on making up for the lack of originality in other ways.”
It was all too easy to imagine exactly the sort of thing his tone suggested. It took her back to that alley, to that kiss, to her desire for more. Callie reached across the table and snagged his whiskey, lifting it to her lips with a shaking hand. “Yes, Teague. I’ll marry you.”

Excerpt from DRAGON KING:

Ella Nelson had thought about getting back at her ex-best friend for a solid month. Ever since she’d found out that the pretender had not only cheated her out of a promotion, but stolen out from under her the one man Ella found interesting, she’d been biding her time until the perfect opportunity arose.
Unfortunately, Ella didn’t do revenge. Or exciting. Or sex with a hot guy. She had a bad case of ADD with life. Everything bored her after a while. This was the longest she’d held a job in years, and already she found herself wanting to leave it all behind. Even a need for vengeance had become too dull to put any more than thought into.
I’m the queen of blah.
“Hey, Ella. You ready for that board meeting today?”
“Sure am.” Ella smiled through her teeth. “I’m sure your presentation will knock it out of the park.” Especially since I did all the work.
“We’ll kill ’em dead.”
“And it’ll be messy, I’m sure.” Their old joke felt so appropriate right now. Ella wanted her life to be messy, to mean something. She felt as if she floated past everything, not quite in touch with the world around her. She wasn’t someone others ever looked to for guidance, advice or a relationship. Not like her ex-friend.
Lauren wore a professional A-line skirt and low cut blouse. It said “I’m feminine and sexy, but I want to be taken seriously.” Ella hated her a little for that too, that the woman could wear anything and look like a million bucks. Blonde-haired, blue-eyed Lauren ate what she wanted, regularly skipped gym workouts and had any man’s attention for the asking. Which made it questionable as to why she’d come on to Peter when she’d known good and well that Ella liked him.
Of course Peter had welcomed her attention. And sure, Ella had never out and out declared dibs, but she’d talked about him all the time. Lauren knew how she felt. Ella had just about worked up the nerve to ask Peter for a date when she’d heard the unmistakable sounds of Lauren banging his brains out while she stood outside the woman’s apartment, waiting for their weekly movie night.
Now it all seemed suspect, as if Lauren had set herself up to be caught in the act. A way of telling without telling. Sly, subtle and something Ella wished she could pull off. Pesky morals.
She finally understood why so many colleagues seemed to give Lauren the cold shoulder. Not because they were jealous, as Lauren had often complained, but because they’d been the victims of her narcissism. The woman stepped over everyone to get what she wanted. It had only taken Ella a year to learn the truth.
Backstabbing, two-timing, money-grubbing witch. A comforting rage settled deep in her bones like a warm glass of whiskey. Welcomed, smooth and familiar. Anger took her from the doldrums. Only fury made her feel alive—and that was the one thing she had to hold back, because too much anger inside her became a very bad thing.
“After you.” Ella followed Lauren into the conference room and moved to the back with the other peons not important enough to sit with corporate’s big boss, the man who’d come down from Green Bay to visit their satellite office in Plymouth Meeting.
Taking her place with the others, Ella readied her cell phone to record, because she’d said she would and hated to break a promise, and gave Lauren a thumbs up she didn’t mean.
The perky man-stealer smiled and chatted with the bosses. Then the presentation started. Lauren wowed everyone with the slides created courtesy of Ella’s unwavering diligence. She struck the right chords with a sense of humor, charm and obvious physical appeal.
The unfairness of it all built. All the hard work, the unpaid overtime, the hassling with phone calls and outdated computers and effort in hopes of getting that promotion. For what? So Lauren could flaunt her considerable assets and steal it all right out from under her?
The final portion of the meeting started, and something clicked into place inside Ella.
Uh-oh. Showtime.
Lauren flashed a toothy smile. “And now, a short video about what Care & Concern Medical Services can do for you.”
Their home health care for the elderly had garnered national attention. They’d even opened a few dozen more centers where those with special needs, as well as the elderly in need of daytime care, could be looked after. Those had been Ella’s brainchild. Ella’s hard work.
Ella should have seen this coming. She and Lauren had never had an issue, because they liked different things. Ella preferred to blend in to the woodwork and offer support. Lauren wanted to be the center of attention and rule the roost.
Ella closed her eyes, unable to stem the freaky headache that would open the door to that other sense she had. The one that spilled secrets most people wanted to hide. Like a diver plunging into the deep end, she stroked deep into the center of Lauren’s private thoughts, the ones Lauren kept hidden, even from herself.
Filled to the brim, Ella needed to direct those private images somewhere else. The idea of revenge became too tempting to ignore, and she shifted those images into the presentation. Though she’d never understood how she could do it, she’d always been able to transform a person’s secrets into a visible manifestation.

Normally uncomfortable with what felt like a curse, today she relished her gift. No longer bored, she felt alive. Angry. Steal my thunder, will you?
“Bravo so far. No wonder your office is in my top five, Brad,” Mr. Kellen directed to Ella’s supervisor, a man susceptible to big blue eyes and bouncy breasts.
“Thanks. But this is all Lauren’s work, isn’t—What is that?”
On the screen, a video of Lauren going down on Peter replaced two old men in wheelchairs. Peter played with her hair while he had her suck him down. Then he had her lick him in all manner of places before she begged him for an assf*** in that whiny, breathy tone that annoyed Ella to no end.
“Oh my God.” Lauren gasped. “That’s not me. It’s not!”
Two more men walked into the bedroom with Lauren and Peter and joined in the fun. The scene had never actually occurred, but deep down, Lauren had wondered what it might be like. Thus, another secret spilled to the big screen.
“Lauren!” Brad sounded shocked.
Ella’s head pounded, but she kept filming with her cell phone, wanting to immortalize the moment. Was it wrong to take comfort in Lauren’s misery?
Who the hell cared?
Mr. Kellen had yet to blink. No one at the table or in the back said anything, likely still in shock at the raw sex onscreen.
“It’s not true,” Lauren said through tears as she fiddled with the computer, trying desperately to shut it off and unplug it.
Not going to work, sweetie. Ella could sometimes affect electronics, and today her gift worked on overdrive, a result of too much stress. Her headache continued to grow, but pleasure over Lauren’s humiliation made the pain more than tolerable.
I should win an Oscar for this production.
The room remained silent, while onscreen moans and groans filled the air. Not one person even pretended to turn away, leave or try to help Lauren turn off the computer. The video scene shifted to Lauren lying in Peter’s arms, still naked, while she laughed about her colleagues at work. Then Peter suggested she don a strap-on and get ready to ride him once more.
Too bad that had also had been fantasy rather than reality.
Despite being attractive, Peter had never seemed too adventurous. Sweet, kind, sexy and hung, sure. Ella mourned the grand size of his cock. He would have been someone to stave the tediousness for a while. But she had a hard time handling nice. Even if he did have a nice package.
She coughed to muffle a snicker.

Now sobbing and at her wit’s end to turn off the video, Lauren scrambled to apologize. “I’m so embarrassed. None of this is real. It had to be Photoshopped or something. They must have edited me into this—this pornographic movie.” She hiccupped. “I’ve never seen any of those men before.”
Ella had to say something. “But, Lauren, isn’t Peter your boyfriend?”
Lauren’s cheeks blanched. “He, well, no. I mean, I know him. But not like that. Someone set me up. None of this is real!”
You got that right, witch.
“I don’t know what to say, Lauren.” Brad’s voice shook. In shock or arousal, Ella couldn’t tell. Her head was about to explode from exerting so much energy into the computer as well as keeping it on.
But she hadn’t had this much fun in ages.
Lauren looked around, as if searching for support, and found none. When her gaze met Ella’s, Ella feigned a sad face and shook her head in disappointment. She stepped aside when Lauren ran out of the room in tears.
The computer finally winked out. No one moved or said anything.
Then one of the women giggled. Others started whispering, then the noise grew deafening.
Ella caught a few loud thoughts. Ha. She’s finally getting hers after diming me out for being late.
Serves her right. My kid was sick a few days, and Miss High and Mighty pulls rank on me then blames me for her report errors. Please.
Take my promotion and this is what you get. Hell, even Ella would have been a better fit. Lord knows she and I both deserved it. Not Lauren Look-at-My-Tits Daley.
Oh man. If I’d known what a freak she is, I wouldn’t have waited so long to ask her out. Wonder if she’d lick my balls like that.
A few other mental rumbles piled on until Ella’s eyes teared up. Her head throbbed and she forced herself to shut down before she risked a bloody nose. But God, had that been worth it.
She followed the excited mob out of the conference room and went back to her cubicle. She didn’t get much work done, but she only had to fake it another hour before she escaped for the day
