This was a really good read. After reading Killer Looks, the prequel to the series, I was intrigued by all three hitmen!
I loved Dante. He’s looking for a life away from that of an assassin. The guy has a a protective streak a mile wide and it comes to the fore when he meets Jennifer – youngest sister of his best friend Matteo. Teo has asked him to keep an eye on Jen and the vineyard she owns but how he comes to manage that is a fun read. I liked that he saw Jen for who she was, saw her strength and courage and didn’t try to keep her from standing up for herself….. yeah, he was there to keep her safe but he was also there for her.
Jen hasn’t had the easiest of times lately. Her brother is gone for the time being, her grandmother has passed and her relationship is no longer. Meeting Dante was exactly what she needed but didn’t realise.
They both fight the attraction they have from the got, Dante out of a sense of guilt and loyalty to his best friend, Jen as she’s been hurt and feels like her judgement of people is off. Over the time they spend together they start to open up to each other and their relationship develops.
Suspense, intrigue, mystery, action and betrayal all come together with attraction, heat and humour to make this a great book that I’d happily recommend.
I’m looking forward to both Matteo & Sebastian’s books especially now we know a little more about who their leading ladies are…. Nicole is gonna give Seb a run for his money I’m sure!!!!

“You want to sit for a little while?” Alex asked, pointing to a bench just ahead of us and off the main path.
I nodded, hoping that the bench would be enough out of the way that people wouldn’t notice us sitting there and stop staring.
We settled in and I sipped my coffee, looking the park over.
Compared to the weekend before, the park looked totally transformed.
There were bright tents throughout the trees with local crafters and artisans, and loud chatter filled the air from people walking around.
“This festival looks no different from when I came as a kid,” Alex said, pulling my attention to him.
I glanced at him and watched as he looked over at what I’d just been looking at.
“Are you surprised? You know we like tradition here.”
Alex chuckled. “Not really. I guess since it’s been so long since I was here, that I expected something to have changed. But nothing has. The same tents, same vendors, same atmosphere.”
I made a noise low in my throat. “There are some new vendors. They’re just peppered throughout. Some ones you’re thinking of don’t come anymore.”
What I didn’t say was that some owners had died because of how old they were and their businesses closed. The town had to get some new life for the vendors, otherwise this festival would have dwindled.
“Still. This is the same. If I close my eyes, I bet I could recall where everyone is and the order of the games at the rink. I feel like no time has passed.”
I said nothing at first. Then I asked, “Are you happy to be here at least?”
Alex met my gaze and nodded. “I am. It’s weird how I didn’t think about so much related to town while I was gone. I came home for holidays and brief visits, but everything else was just background. But now that I’m here, I can’t help remembering coming as a kid with my mom and sister. Hanging with my friends before our games. And all the other shit that the town does throughout the year.”
I thought about what he was saying. I didn’t have any experience not coming to the town events, considering I went to college close by and returned to town the minute I could. I’d kept coming to everything, even throughout college.

This pair are awesome….. I loved reading about Nicole and Damien in previous books in the series so finding out more about how they met and got together was fun!! They are both crazy… not off the chart crazy, but mad, up for anything crazy – well, maybe Nicole is a tad off the chart at times but I couldn’t imagine her any other way!! They are both missing something and they find it in each other. Damien doesn’t have a great family dynamic. Nicole isn’t all that trusting of men, but given how she grew up that’s understandable. They give each other someone who both needs and loves them without reservation. They are really funny, think along the same lines and work so well as a couple. Thankfully Damien is able to rein Nicole in a bit at times, but occasionally he’s as likely to encourage her madness as that’s part of her attraction. Together they are a force and as I already said, just awesome. Add in other characters we’ve met before and this is a fab read.. Nicole & Damien‘s story is one I’d definitely recommend you check out!!!
