Blurb

A year worth of flirting comes down to this kiss…

Abel

I’ve eaten more tacos the past year than I have my entire life. It’s not because I love those little handfuls of goodness (although I do). It’s because of the woman who runs the local food truck Let’s Taco Bout It. Seeing her makes my day, and while I can’t admit my feelings, I can at least see her smile.

Until Halloween. When a man gives her attention she doesn’t want, she pretends we’re together, and lays a kiss on me that I’ll never forget.

Kara

I’ve spent the last year watching the hottie in the constantly torn and dirty jeans shyly walking up to my food truck and ordering the same thing each time. I’ve done my best to drag him out of his shell, but nothing works until a night of unwanted attention forces me to make a move.

Now? He’s hanging around even more, and when his husky voice calls me his girlfriend? I melt into a puddle, and he’s the only one who can pick me up and put me back together again.

I’m slightly nervous as I follow him into his kitchen. I gasp when I get a good look. His kitchen is my dream. Stainless steel appliances, cabinets painted a dark gray that almost pulls blue in the darkness coming through the back windows. White marble countertops are spotless and inviting. Contemporary lighting provides enough where it’s needed, and softens where it isn’t. “You have a pot filler,” I gasp with jealousy.

He laughs. “I do. When Dad and I were designing this place, he said I’d appreciate it if I were ever going to make dinner often. Since I do, I use it all the time.”

“You make dinner a lot?” I’m learning so much about him tonight.

“When I decided to buy this place and gut it, I didn’t have a ton of money. Still repaying college loans too,” he shrugs.  “So while I do go out with my friends to the bar, I don’t spend a ton as I’m paying down stuff. Dad helped me more than he should’ve, but he wasn’t able to take care of everything. The amount of free labor and construction work he gave me for this place was well into the hundreds of thousands. My friends helped too, which is why they hang out here all the time when we aren’t working or at Monroe’s.”

The scent of whatever we’re going to eat permeates the room. “What else are you going to surprise me with tonight?” I tilt my head to the side.

“Hopefully everything you never imagined I would be.”

Our eyes meet, and I get lost in the green depths of his. I’ve seen them in many different situations and they tend to change colors depending on what’s happening. It runs the gamut from very light to dark, like the luscious floor of the rainforest. “I don’t really know you at all do I?” My voice is quiet as I observe him. “Does anyone really know you?”

He scratches the back of his neck, ducking his head down. “There are very few people who do, and I prefer it that way.”

“Why? You always seem so open with everyone.” I’m beginning to realize many of us have secrets.

“It’s complicated.”

I walk over to him, and grab his hand in mine. “We’re all complicated, but can I put it out there I would love to get to know your complications.” I’m never this forward, but there’s something about him standing in this amazing kitchen, telling me little snippets that make him the person he is. I’m taking them all and putting them in my pocket – pieces to the puzzle that make up this man.

He runs a palm over his stubble. “You’re probably just about the only person I’d let do that.”

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

I LOVED Abel & Kara…. The Broken Falls series is fast becoming one of my favourites from Laramie!

Admittedly, there were a couple of times I wanted to give Abel a damned shake…. His self doubt and need to think about things to the nth degree before taking a chance and starting something with Kara did drive me a tad crazy! As a kid growing up with pretty much kids for parents mustn’t have been easy and I got that he worried about making mistakes and doing the wrong thing BUT his dad was a good example of growing up and changing for the better – Boone in all honesty did an awesome job with Abel who turned out to be a really great young man, ensuring that Abel had a great role model and a helluva supporter in his corner.

I really liked Kara. She was determined to bring her dream to life – even without the support that should have come automatically from her folks. She worked hard, believed in herself and was starting to see success.
I think what I liked most about her was HER belief in Abel.
She cared about him, could see the kind of person he was and knew that they were perfect for each other (spoiler… she was right!!)

I would have liked to see the interaction and kiss that kick-started their potential relationship but it didn’t kill the read for me that the story started a little later…. or that Abel took so long to get his head on straight and ask the gal in a date!!

Once Abel and Kara got together their relationship flourished.
It was great seeing them grow, leaning on each other when things got tough and bringing out the best in the other – they were friends and confidantes as well as lovers.. Abel was one of Kara’s biggest supporters when it came to her working towards her dream and she was there for Abel when things with family were difficult.

As ever, I love catching up with other characters from previous books and it was fab seeing how Boone & Alexis were doing.

I cannot wait to read Jasper’s book – that little tease we got in Abel has me intrigued!!!!

I can handle this. We’re both adults. Working together won’t be a problem. Too bad fighting my attraction to Xander is turning out to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

Excerpt

Grabbing the fresh margarita, I take a drink. The sides of the glass are wet from the condensation, and I pick up the small napkin to wipe it off. The chair Eric vacated a few minutes ago moves. I swear he thinks he has to take care of everyone. “Eric, I wasn’t play—”

My eyes move from the glass in my hand to the person who isn’t Eric sitting in the chair. What the hell? This is so random. Who comes and just plops themselves into a seat at a stranger’s table? Well, I guess I can’t really fault them. I’ve done the same thing on numerous occasions. And it was usually some guy I ended up going home with. It’s just weird having the same thing happen to me. This is new.

“Um, who are you?” Hopefully that wasn’t rude, but like who is this guy.

“Xander.” He holds his hand out. His dark brown eyes twinkle in the dim lighting as he smirks. “You looked lonely.”

Oh. My. God. “Does that pickup line usually work?” I grasp his hand and shake it lightly before pulling back.

He shrugs and leans back in his chair. “Sometimes. I mean, it’s got about an eighty percent chance of it, anyway.”

At least he’s being honest. Not many people would be, especially when they are trying to pick someone up from the bar. “Let me guess, you were standing over there, and you saw me sitting alone minding my own business. You decided to come over and really thought those words were the ones that would endear me to you.”

That may have been a tad bit bitchy, but it’s really hard to be in the mood to play games. As much as I try to shake off the worries I have about the shop, it’s just not working.

“Actually,” he leans forward, elbows on the table, “I noticed you when you walked in. I was going to come over sooner, but then that guy sat down,” he pauses to take a sip of his beer. “For a second, I thought he was your boyfriend or something. Then I saw him walk behind the bar and tell one of the waiters to bring you a drink. After that, I spent a few moments talking myself into coming over here.”

“How does him going behind the bar equate to him not being my boyfriend? For all you know he is.” I’m interested in what he has to say about this revelation.

He studies the margarita in my hand for a few seconds, and glances toward the bar. No doubt to the guy in question. “Well, mostly because he watches you like an overprotective brother, and he’s staring at me like he wants to break my jaw. If he was your boyfriend, I probably wouldn’t be in this fine establishment much longer.”

“Oh.” It’s so weird being on this side of the conversation. It’s usually me approaching men. Confidence isn’t something I’ve ever had a problem with. But this…it’s knocking me back a few steps. I have no idea what to do from here. At this point I’ve usually talked them into buying me a drink before we head off to be alone.

“Am I right?”

“Well, you’re not wrong.” Seriously, Kate, pull yourself together. I take a long pull from my drink. It feels like half of the drink is gone when I’m done. It takes everything in me not to throw my hands to my head from the rush of the drink. Something else that isn’t typical of something I do. Slamming drinks ended in my early twenties.

“Want to dance?” He scoots the chair back and stands. His hand held out to me, waiting for me to take the leap.

Synopsis

There’s a thin line between love and hate. Good thing I have excellent balance.

If only that was enough.

Willa Hayes and I have a long history. We went from friends to enemies to frenemies…with benefits. The benefits part is our secret though.

Not how I’d prefer it, but after what I did, I’m lucky she still talks to me at all.

Our chemistry is undeniable. An addictive push and pull that has taken on a life of its own. One that fuels the long burning flame deep within me.

None of our friends have any idea that she and I have been sneaking around for the better part of a decade. Neither does anyone else in our small Georgia town. And if word were to get out, that would be the end of us.

That is, until Willa drops a bomb I never saw coming. It’s the last thing I expected – but also the perfect chance to show her who I really am. To be the man I wasn’t ten years ago. The man she deserves.

This is our chance for a happy ending. It’s now or never. As long as I don’t screw it up again.

Excerpt

I may hate him with the fire of Shakespeare’s thousand suns, but man, can Nash Keller kiss.

All my fury and annoyance, the flood of negative emotions that were flowing a second ago, are now taking a backseat. They’re still there, but suddenly pushed aside by something else.

Desire.

My insides light up like the sky on New Year’s Eve, each beat of my pulse a new firework exploding. And all he’s done is kiss me.

My knees wobble as Nash’s hand slides to my ass, his massive palm the perfect size to cup a cheek. As he gives it a squeeze, I moan into our kiss, unable to control myself. I give in, letting him control the pace, still desperate for more. He squeezes again, this time a little harder, and I come alive.

As if he can read my mind, he deepens the kiss, his other hand finding my backside, hoisting me up. Instinctively I wrap my legs around his waist, my core making contact with the bulge already forming in his pants, and that’s all it takes.

I’m ready to go.

I grind my hips against him, seeking the high that only he can give me. Nash Keller is a drug. One that I’ve been addicted to since I was a teenager, unable to give up, even though I know how bad it is for me. I’ve tried to convince myself there are worse vices out there than him—real drugs, for instance—because deep down I know this man will be my undoing.

In fact, we might already be there.

His touch feels too good for that to be a worry right now. In this moment, the only thing I care about is getting him naked.

I claw at his shirt, our mouths still fused together in forceful, messy kisses, the thin, soft fabric malleable in my hands. Each time I try to pull back from his claim on my lips so I can focus on taking his shirt off, Nash stops me. His tongue dances with mine, sending lightning straight to my core, my clit already throbbing with anticipation.

I need him naked. Now.

Digging my nails into the cotton, I yank at it, the threads giving way easily, like a hot knife through butter. The ripping sound cuts through the air, finally getting Nash’s attention.

Looking down in between us then up again, I watch as his eyes darken, brow furrowing. “This shirt was a gift, Princess.”

“From me,” I remind him pointedly. I glide my finger down his chest, in between his pecs, licking my lips.

A wicked smile takes over from his scowl, sending another shot of lightning through me. It’s the exact same smile he gave me when he opened the gift that Christmas a few years back—Kenzie, Sylvie, the twins, and I all gathered in the small living room of his and Noel’s house—before Dustin’s return and the rest of our friends coupling off. The dark gray shirt, complete with a cartoon cow and the words “Man-ure hot” had gotten a good laugh out of everyone. But only Nash had understood the secret message behind it.

One he properly thanked me for later.

“Still, you’re gonna pay for that.”

I shiver, my body continuing to betray me. Because I want every bit of whatever he’s about to dole out. My head tells me it’s a bad idea, but it’s getting vetoed. The physical connection between us is too strong.

Without another word, Nash twists, depositing me on the bed. My eyes are glued to him as he rips the shirt the rest of the way off, showing off his impressively chiseled chest. His gaze holds me in place, my breath slowing as he undoes his belt, then flicks the button of his jeans open, the whole thing a choreographed dance designed to turn me on.

Letting his jeans drop to the floor, Nash steps out of them, leaving him in nothing. Absolutely nothing. My eyes dance up and down his long, lean body, mouth watering at the sight of him like this.

Fuck me, is he a thing of beauty.

RELEASE BLITZ – Reluctantly Royal (Royals Gone Rogue #1) by Erin Nicholas writing as Erin Nicolle

Reluctantly Royal

Royals Gone Rogue #1

Erin Nicholas writing as Erin Nicolle

A marriage proposal from a deliciously handsome and wickedly charming prince sounds like a fairytale.

But for a nerdy scientist with severe social anxiety, it’s a horror story.

Prince Torin O’Grady, with his mischievous blue eyes and cocky grin, is always in the spotlight. And he needs to marry me to inherit the crown.

But we have nothing in common. He’s a future king. And I’m perfectly happy slogging through mud in my work boots.

So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

Maybe because he won’t stop texting me. And sending me gifts. And making me feel like everything I find awkward and weird about myself is special and amazing.

And there’s also that little detail of him offering me my dream job and telling me that together we can change the world.

Well, I could probably 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 for him.

And if I have to marry him 𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘺 to get what we both want, then fine. It’s for the greater good.

It has nothing to do with the way he kisses me. Or that dirty mouth. Or the 𝘳𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵  he gives me in the bedroom.

Fine. Maybe it does. Still, it’s only a year. Then I can turn in my tiara and come back to my normal, boring, behind-the-scenes life.

But Torin is determined to turn me from reluctantly royal to royally 𝘩𝘪𝘴.

Excerpt

Erin Nicholas writing as Erin Nicolle

“I want more than dances, Abigail.”

She presses her lips together, takes a breath, then asks, “What else do you want?”

I decide to be honest. “I want to whisk you away on my private plane to an actual palace and give you everything and anything you could ever want or need.”

Her eyes widen. “You don’t even know me.”

I tuck my hands into my back pockets. To try to look casual. But also to keep from reaching for her.

“I’ve read all about your work,” I tell her. “I started by just wanting to know about that job you said you hated so much. But then I kept reading. I know all about you.”

She’s staring at me. She’s sitting up straighter now and even in the pale light, I can see her shock.

“You…read about me?”

“Not just about you. I read all of your papers. Your work in college. Your dissertation. The articles you’ve published. I even stumbled upon some social media posts.”

“I…Oh…” She shakes her head. “I thought you wanted to sleep with me.”

I chuckle softly. “Oh, Abigail, I most definitely want to sleep with you.”

She swallows hard.

“I wanted that before I knew you are a damned genius who could come to my country and revolutionize agriculture and completely overhaul our economy.”

I can see that she’s breathing faster now.

“So you want to hire me?” she asks. “Which means we can’t sleep together because you’ll be my boss.”

I step up on the first step.

“I don’t want to hire you. But I do want to bring you to Cara to do your work.”

“I don’t understand.”

I step up onto the next step, but she doesn’t back up. There’s only a step between us now. “I want you to marry me.”

Her eyes widen. But she says nothing.

“Be my princess,” I go on. “You’ll have influence and resources. You can do anything and everything you’ve ever wanted to do.”

She’s staring at me. Then when she realizes I’m done talking, she laughs.

“Marry you? Is that how things work for you? You just smile that smile, waltz a couple of waltzes, and women just say yes to anything? Even marriage?”

Well…

“I’ve never asked anyone to marry me before, so I don’t really know,” I answer.

She’s still smiling. “Thank you for the offer. But I’m not going to marry you.”

“As princess of Cara you can see your plans in action. Right now, they’re all just on paper. You’re not actually doing any of it. Don’t you want to see it come to life?”

Now she’s not smiling. She’s just watching me. She takes a deep breath. “Of course I do.”

“This is the perfect way. There’s no red tape. Nothing between your amazing brain and making it all happen for real.”

“What’s the catch?”

“No catch. My country needs a prince and princess in place before my grandfather steps aside. The country deserves to know who will be there to step up and take care of them. My grandfather needs a successor in place before his heart gives out.”

“He has a bad heart?” she asks.

“He’s already had three heart attacks. I really need to get married to give him and the country peace of mind.”

“So you’re serious about finding a wife?”

“I am.”

She steps down a step.

“Abigail.”

“Yes?”

“If you step down one more step, I’m going to kiss you.”

She wets her lips.

“So if you want to just keep talking, you need to keep your sweet ass right there on that step.”

She looks down at the step that would start the kissing.

“And if you don’t want to keep talking…or anything else… you need to go back inside.”

She’s staring at me. But she seems more fascinated than anything. “Okay. I understand.”

“Good.”

Two heartbeats pass.

Then she steps down onto the step right above mine.

I groan and cup her face, bringing her mouth in against mine.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

While Erin Nicholas is better known for The Landry Family and the small town of Autre – some of my favourite books and series – I’m so looking forward to what’s to come from her alter-ego, Erin Nicolle.

I adored Torin & Abigail. We’d met Torin previously on his trips to visit Fiona and Saoirse in Autre, while Ani had been introduced via her sisters’ stories.

We knew a bit about Cara. That they needed a new king ti take over from Torin’s grandfather as he’s getting older and his health hasn’t been good but the level of expectation on Torin from the old boy was a little more than anyone expected I think!!

I liked how Torin knew Abi was the one for him and even though she seemed set on the end date of their he never listened to sight of the future he wanted with her.
Torin grew up quite a bit throughout the read and for me, he was gonna be a really great leader…. if he has the right partner (hint, hint… Abi) by his side.

Then there’s Abi. For someone with social anxiety she definitely bloomed in this book….. her confidence, self belief and understanding of what she could do if she set her mind to it all developed during her first few months with Torin as he was so supportive and proud of her, which he never failed to convey.

This pair were made for each other. They were sweet, funny, engaging and smoking hot in equal measures and I’m hoping we see more of them in future ‘Royals Gone Rogue’ books.

A really fab start to a new series and I can’t wait to see what Erin has in store for Torin’s brothers (and hopefully their best friends/bodyguards!!! 😉)

About the Author

Erin Nicholas is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of over sixty sexy contemporary romances and rom coms. Her stories have been described as toe-curling, enchanting, steamy, and fun. She loves to write about reluctant heroes, imperfect heroines and happily ever afters. She lives in the Midwest with her husband who only wants to read the sex scenes in her books, her kids who will never read the sex scenes in her books, and family and friends who say they’re shocked by the sex scenes in her books (yeah, right!).

While Erin Nicholas is known for her blue-collar book boyfriends and big, boisterous found families in small towns, her alternate pen name, Erin Nicolle writes rich and royal rogues. But they both love a dirty talking cinnamon roll, a damn grump who is reluctantly wrapped around a feisty little finger, and a gruff, protective guy who falls first and hard.

And Erin also writes spicy, why choose rom coms as Emma Foxx  with her author bestie, Erin McCarthy (yes, another Erin)!

You can find all three pen names on Amazon, Goodreads, Instagram and Tik Tok!

“So I figured, we could be… you know, friends with benefits. At the bar, you’re my boss, and there are boundaries, but other times when we’re alone… we’d have the benefits. Would that be good for you?”

F%ck no, he thought. He wanted so much more. But that was the caveman in him talking. The rational, understanding human inside him knew he couldn’t have all of Raven without slowly winning her trust. Which meant giving her what she needed. Time. Space.

He placed his finger on her moist lower lip, running the pad over her flesh. “If that works for you, it does for me,” he said in a gruff voice.

Her shoulders sagged in what must have been relief and his heart squeezed as he realized what it must take for her to hold herself together. She was wound so tight and pressed down so much fear. Something had to give. He wanted to be her safe place.

“So we’re good?” she asked.

Meanwhile, as she sighed and wriggled on his lap, his X#$% grew hard and he gritted his teeth against the desire he wouldn’t be acting on.

“We’re good,” he assured her.

She hugged him, placing her head on his shoulder and her chest against his, as she breathed against his neck. “Thank you, Remy. I feel safe with you.”

And those words both solidified his decision to go slow and caused a warm feeling in his chest, and his heart beat in time with hers.

When she decided to go home anyway, he understood, and let her go.

Keep reading for a look inside Last First Kiss!

I turned the corner and bumped into a woman in sky-high heels, yet was still quite a bit shorter than me. I cursed and reached out, gripping her shoulders. She had her hand on my wrist in a moment, squeezing with a twist that surprised me. I knew that move. And if I wasn’t careful, she was going to twist my arm around my back. Interesting.

Why did that make me hard? There was something wrong with me, and I needed to either get laid, or get some sleep. Probably both.

“I’m sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was going, and I’m trying to be quick about it. I apologize.” I gently moved my arms from her shoulders and tried not to stand agog with my mouth open. She was quite possibly the most gorgeous woman I had ever met in my life.

And, in my line of work, I tended to meet a lot of beautiful women.

She had stunning green eyes that looked as if they were crafted within the ocean. In fact, I bet in sunlight they looked gray or even blue. The mystery of it compelled me, and that probably should have been a warning sign. Her long dark hair was neatly crafted into some form of updo thing that I didn’t understand. I wondered what it would look like if I pulled it out of its style, just to see it fall down her back. Would it be wavy? Would it easily wrap around my fist?

She was strong, muscular, a little above average height, but still short next to me.

She had curves, beautiful breasts that filled out her dress achingly well, and slightly widened hips, the perfect width for my grip.

I shook myself out of whatever the hell was going on with me. I did not react to women like this. Hell, I barely reacted at all these days. I was too busy trying to keep up with my daughter, this move, and the fact that I would start a new job on Monday. I didn’t have time for this wedding.

“It’s okay,” the woman said, her voice slightly smoky. It was a voice that drew me.

What the hell was wrong with me?

“Anyway, I should hurry. Don’t want to be late.”

Her red tinted lips quirked into a smile, and I swallowed hard.

“No, I don’t think Henry’s bride will appreciate that.”

“You’re on the groom side then?”

She nodded. “And with that accent, I guess you’re on the bride’s side?”

“You know, you’re not the first person to say that today. Your friend could know more than one British person, not just the one he’s marrying.”

“True. But statistically, I think Rina knows a few more.”

“You know, you’re probably right.”

“Anyway, I will see you. At least across the aisle.” She winked, before she turned towards the wedding center, her hips swaying just right. I didn’t think she was doing it on purpose either. It was those damn heels, and those legs that went on for days. And she was so damn strong. So muscular.

I shook that off, because I didn’t want to walk into the wedding after it started, and ran to the bathroom, cleaned the back of my neck, washed my hands, and let out a breath as I leaned on the sink.

“You can do this. One more day of being normal.”

Whatever normal was.

I made it to my seat in the middle pew right as the processions began. I was grateful that I hadn’t had to slip in the middle of it or hide behind a pillar during the damn ceremony. That would’ve been just my luck.

Of course, it seemed my luck was changing, because as I turned to watch the procession, I saw the dark-haired beauty right across from me. She winked as the man next to her spoke into her ear and she laughed, a nice husky laugh that went straight to my groin.

She had brought a fucking date. I guess that answered that.

Now to just get my cock to agree.

EXCERPT

Dear Lord, her kidnapper was hugging her.

He reached with one hand, his shoulders shifting sideways, riffling through the duffel bag beside the bed and plucking out a square. “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail,” he rumbled into her neck.

He stepped back. Sarah almost fell forward into the cold air, hobbled by her jeans and panties around her ankles.

Blaze shoved his hands under her armpits and lifted her, not even giving her a chance to jump to help him, and he raised her over his head and planted her bottom of the cool metal roof of his car. “Oh!”

“Lie back,” he snarled as he bent, pushing with his hands on her calves and pressing her knees toward her chest.

After Blaze settled her at the dining table, he brought her a bowl of baked oatmeal and a tall glass of milk. “Eat.”

“Yes, sir,” she grumbled.

He braced his arms around her and lowered his head almost to her shoulder, whispering, “If you’re trying to be a smart aleck, try something else. I’m used to being called sir, and I like it.”

Darn military officer guys.

“If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. I never plan to fail.”

Blaze was a predator by nature, and prey had tripped his instincts. He leaned toward her and captured her hand under his, a tiger snatching a rabbit that had ventured too close.

He shouldn’t.

RECOMMENDED READ & REVIEW – More Than I Could (Marshall Family Series #1) by Adriana Leigh

MORE THAN I COULD

Marshall Family Series #1

by Adriana Locke

Updated cover

Genre/Tropes:

Grumpy + Sunshine, Single Dad + Nanny, Small Town Romance

From USA Today Bestselling author Adriana Locke comes a grumpy, blue-collar single dad that falls hard for his new nanny.

This small-town romance is a standalone novel with tons of heat and even more heart.

Blurb:

This nanny makes things hard for her boss.

Chase Marshall is many things:

An attentive single dad

Jaw-droppingly gorgeous

My employer for the next thirty days

He’s also the bane of my existence.

He swears I’m a never-ending headache—the most infuriating woman he’s ever met.

If I’m so irritating, then what’s up with the lingering looks when he thinks I’m not watching?

The seemingly innocent touches while making breakfast?

The smirk that graces his kissable lips after one of our verbal spars after his daughter has gone to bed?

One minute he’s coming to my rescue. The next second he’s complaining about how I fold his work shirts. Fine. Fold them yourself.

It turns out that the only time I don’t get under Chase’s skin is when I’m under him.

And that’s where things get complicated.

EXCERPT

As soon as we’re alone, the air shifts. Shadows dance across the tabletop. Megan’s jasmine perfume scents the air, and my body temperature rises.

I struggle to remember our conversation yesterday. I remind myself that my child—the same one that occupied the seat next to me a minute ago—is my priority. Over and over, I replay all the reasons why I can’t afford to get off track.

Why I can’t touch Megan Kramer.

My muscles tighten in my stomach and across the back of my neck as I lift my gaze from the tabletop to her.

She grins. It’s simple, but when coupled with the heat in her eyes, there’s nothing sweet about it. “That was fun.”

I hold her gaze, unable to look away.

This is the first day, Chase. Twenty-nine more to go. Don’t blow it already.

I smirk and push away from the table.

I need to put some distance between us before things get really fun.

 BLP REVIEW – Tracy

4.8* – love, Love, LOVE an Adriana Locke book….

Chase and Megan were awesome. Their initial meeting was not great (though Meg’s complaining about him in the bar later that night was amusing) and then the next day Chase was not ready for Megan to turn up on his doorstep (quite literally, she was not the person he was expecting to arrive to help with his daughter – but his mother didn’t tell him about a change in plans!!)

Megan had returned home after her dream job ended but after her mum suffered an accident she agreed to help out with her mum’s best friend’s grand-daughter, Kennedy, for the summer.
The night before she’s due to start she gets a bit lost and a grumpy but hot guy stops to help her – the not so great interaction. Their conversation and thoughts here gave you an idea of how explosive they could be together….

Chase’s biggest problem and the reason why he was so reticent to Meg helping with Kennedy was the strength of his attraction to her.
Megan, once things were decided that she would stay with Chase and Kennedy, tried to quell her attraction to him but after a bit neither of them could deny how they felt and they stop fighting the connection.

I really loved how Meg bonded with Kennedy and that she jumped in to stand up and protect her, listening and doing the right thing where Kennedy was concerned.
This is where it missed 5* for me. I got that chase was tired and all when he got the story of what had happened but his reaction and words completely p’d me off.

I loved Chase’s brothers and I’m looking forward to their books and heading back to Peachwood Falls.

Adriana always hits the mark and ‘More Than I Could’ is another fab example of her great characters, funny banter, and the angst, emotion and heat she writes for her MCs.

Fake partnership, real attraction, and one hilariously haute disaster waiting to happen…buckle up for this age-gap rom-com.

Carly Rose, forty-five and fiercely independent, is rebuilding her life. Newly divorced, she’s determined to make her stylist business blossom, even with the thorn in her side: Audrey, her frenemy with a tongue sharper than her designer stilettos. Enter Andrew, Audrey’s son, a charming blend of geek energy and fierce loyalty. Who happens to be Carly’s completely off-limits secret one-night stand.

When a chance for Andrew’s dream promotion hinges on a polished public image, he makes an unexpected proposition: a mutually beneficial charade. Carly, facing the gauntlet of her ex’s destination wedding in Barcelona, agrees to become his pretend girlfriend. What starts as a carefully curated act evolves into stolen moments whispered over tapas, kisses in front of Gaudi fountains, and feelings as warm as a cashmere scarf on a crisp autumn day.

Caught between ambition and a forbidden yearning, Carly and Andrew navigate a minefield of sabotaged styling appointments; cringeworthy encounters with exes, bosses and disapproving mothers; plus the undeniable truth that attraction doesn’t follow age brackets.

Swoon for this steamy standalone romantic comedy featuring fabulousness after forty, making friends with enemies, and finding love with a wildly inappropriate fake date.

(Shh, don’t tell Audrey, but Andrew’s dimples are definitely the hottest accessory this season.)

Copyright 2024 Michelle McCraw

A waft of fresh, clean air cut through the fog of perfume. An awareness made the back of my neck prickle.

My gaze locked on the back of a man standing nearby. Broad shoulders narrowed to a trim waist. His sharp black tuxedo pants hugged a taut behind. The suit itself was nothing special, a run-of-the-mill Brooks Brothers, but it fit him like a dream.

Oh, no.

I tipped my gaze up to his slightly too-long sandy-blond hair as he turned to face me.

I’d pulled fifteen hundred dollars out of my fuck-you-Brad account to attend this gala, and spiteful irony had thrown this man into my path again. I’d planned to dazzle the crowd with the old Carly magic and convince them I still belonged. More, that they needed me.

Hubris smacked me across the face like a Real Housewife.

Andrew Jones stood not six feet away, all muscular shoulders, chiseled jaw, and bottomless gray-blue eyes. His blond hair? I’d pulled it while he buried his face in my pussy. He had the power to upend my life by telling everyone I’d temporarily lost my sanity after a few glasses of chardonnay.

No styling client would take me seriously if they knew I’d slept with one of their sons.

I’d never meant to do it. Andrew had seemed sweet, someone you could trust to bring in your mail and water your plants while you were on vacation. Not that I’d ever asked him to do that. When I was married to Brad, our housekeeper took care of the plants and brought in the Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.

I’d never thought of him as anything more than the nicer of Audrey’s two sons until seven weeks ago when I’d spotted him across the bar in Monterey. He was no sweet kid that night. He’d gone and grown up in the ten or so years since I’d given him a purely platonic hug at his college graduation party.

When he’d peeled off his button-down shirt, I’d run a finger across his hard pecs. His voice went deep when he called me his fantasy come true. I’d been sore for two days, unused to a thirty-two-year-old’s impressively short refractory period.

I’d lost my mind.

It was the only way to explain how I’d hooked up with Andrew Jones, a man who was thirteen years younger than me and the son of my frenemy.

His handsome face split into a broad grin. Those dimples—my kryptonite—dented his cheeks. He’d laughed that night. I’d laughed, too, more than I had in the lonely year before.

In his hotel room, he’d made me feel powerful and adored, like I was the only woman he’d ever cared about. Something reckless inside me wanted to reach out to him, to touch him, to see if my skin still sparked when it met his. I felt my lips curving into a reflection of his smile.

But tonight, exposed here in the ballroom, those gentle hands were dangerous. Those soft lips threatened my plans. My heart hammered, demanding I flee. But my feet stayed firmly planted on the carpet. Maybe they were right. Running away would only draw attention.

Two of his long strides brought him in front of me. “Carly, you look amazing, as always.”

I focused on the sharp points of his bow tie. “Andrew, what are you doing here?”

“My mother asked me to come.”

Ice coated my belly. Audrey Jones Hayes could not see me talking to her son. I glanced to the side, where a heavy curtain created an alcove by the window. But dragging Andrew behind a curtain would look more suspicious than talking to him in the middle of the ballroom.

I stared at the center of his tie, trying not to think about the hollow behind it where I’d dipped my tongue that night. “It’s great seeing you again, but—”

“That’s what you want? To be strangers? After that night? You left without saying goodbye, without saying anything at all. And I couldn’t call you because of the rules—”

“Shh!” I stepped closer and almost put a hand over his mouth. There were people everywhere, people who’d love to pocket the currency of a juicy bit of gossip like that. That’s why I’d made rule two: we’d never tell anyone, especially his mother, that we’d slept together. The one he was talking about was rule three: it could only be one night.

“Dance with me.” He held out a hand, palm up. “We should talk. No one will hear us on the dance floor.”

“No!” I made the mistake of looking into his eyes. They were the color of storm clouds in spring, dark and dangerous. If I danced with him, everyone would notice the indecent heat in his stare.

“Come on. I danced with Bianca Waddingworth. No one will think anything of it. It’ll look like we’re networking.”

My stomach clenched. I’d danced with dozens of Brad’s business colleagues over the years. But I hadn’t slept with any of them.

“One dance,” I said. “And then we go our separate ways.” I tore my gaze off his eyes. One dance was like rule three…with our clothes on.

EXCERPT REVEAL – Abel (Broken Falls #2) by Laramie Briscoe

Title: Abel

Series: Broken Falls, #2

Author: Laramie Briscoe

Genre: Small Town Romance

Release Date: March 15, 2024

Excerpt

Exclusive first look at Abel…

Blurb:

A year worth of flirting comes down to this kiss…

Abel

I’ve eaten more tacos the past year than I have my entire life. It’s not because I love those little handfuls of goodness (although I do). It’s because of the woman who runs the local food truck Let’s Taco Bout It. Seeing her makes my day, and while I can’t admit my feelings, I can at least see her smile.

Until Halloween. When a man gives her attention she doesn’t want, she pretends we’re together, and lays a kiss on me that I’ll never forget.

Kara

I’ve spent the last year watching the hottie in the constantly torn and dirty jeans eating shyly walking up to my food truck and ordering the same thing each time.

Abel is book two in The Broken Falls Series: a series of interconnected standalones following a group of friends who have become family in small-town West Virginia, and the women who bring them to their knees. You do not have to read them in order, but each book builds upon the relationships of the last.
