WHY?

Because it`s only 80 pages long (67 estimated according to Amazon!). The first instalment of 6 to be released between now and October 21st ~ the full box set will be available from October 28th.

It’s totally my personal preference but I dislike when they are published like this and would rather wait for the full book than purchase episodes so short. This decision is partly because as an avid fast reader a short 80 pages is devoured on a coffee break, a quick caffeine fix and boom, finished! I can usually never get invested in the characters that fast and just end up frustrated and disappointed therefore less than 200 pages rarely gets a one click off me.

However, no matter if your choice is to wait for all 6 or purchase each episode as it is published, I would totally recommend this one to all the shifter paranormal lovers out there, for a debut author this start is a really good sign of things to come and I’m pleased I didn’t miss out. Her writing was engaging – such that even in just 80 pages I did get involved in the characters, the plot and the world she is creating.

“Shifters live in the shadows of Seattle, just under the skin of the alpha male, dot-com entrepreneurs who are building a new Silicon Valley in the Emerald City.”

This is a new spin on shifter worlds and while a little complicated to start the author has laid a good groundwork for the development of this story.

“Mia is just a college girl trying to earn her business degree and dig out of the poverty she was born into—being a shifter is something she hides, hoping her secret won’t sabotage her dreams.”

Mia has never been open about the fact she is a shifter and having had no involvement with a pack knows nothing of pack life, its rules and way of working. But her inner wolf is drawn to Lucas, he’s her first close encounter and she’d like it to be closer!

“Lucas is a broken alpha, a wolf who lost his mate, his pack, and almost himself — he wasn’t looking to rescue a girl or start a pack war. But now he has to keep her safe or it won’t just be her life, but his whole family at risk… only his inner wolf can’t seem to keep its paws off a girl who has secrets of her own.”

Lucas has had a tortured time and is not looking for a relationship, brief hook ups only. The feelings Mia arouses in him confuse him, especially as he believes her to be human.

This first episode of Lucas and Mia’s story has romance, protective strong Alpha shifter and a nicely different take on the usual shifter worlds. As a debut it’s a strong one with a descriptive writing style I liked, I would love to continue the story and see where it goes. There is a major cliffy but as #2 is already available don’t let this put you off – just decide which way to buy it, in 6 instalments or as a complete box set.

As a parawhore with a definite preference for shifter books it’s exciting to have a new author to watch out for……….
