RELEASE BLITZ – Lost Years by MK Schiller

Title: Lost Years
Author: MK Schiller
Publisher: Entangled Publishing
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 16, 2019
Blurb
Ever had a dream so real it feels like a memory?
I’ve had those kinds of dreams since I was a kid. Each one of a beautiful girl, who is my best friend. We grow up together on a sunny island surrounded by water that’s as blue as her eyes. We share all our hopes and fears until we realize we belong to each other in every way one person claim another. She is my own personal serenity. Sweet story, eh?
Well forget about it.
The cold, harsh reality is that I’m a twenty-year-old, Manhattan-bred, manwhore, who uses his fists to solve his problems. The only comfort I find is inside a bottle… and the dreams. But the dreams are my illness not my cure. Just when things look the darkest, the sun slaps me square in the jaw. I spot a
picture of a scenic island surrounded by the bluest water – my island.
If the island exists then so must the girl, right?
So I’m headed to Serenity, Texas to find my girl and make some sense out of the chaos that is my life. Feel free to tag along, but this journey comes with a steep warning — dreams can turn into nightmares in the blink of an eye.
My name is Jason Flynn and this is our story.

“You have talent.”
“Are you a fan of country music?”
“I’m a fan of yours, Scarlett.”
She smiled. “That’s a little smoother.”
”I’m learning.” “I take it country is your favorite kind of music?” I asked
“I love all kinds of music, but country is in my soul.” She placed a finger against her bottom lip. “Plus, whatever comes out of this mouth just sounds country.”
I smirked. “I bet country tastes delicious.”
She laughed, pointing a finger at me. “You’re dangerous. You flirt like this with all the ladies?”
I wish I could tell her no, but she deserved an honest answer. “Yes.” I wanted to take it back when her smile tightened. All those years of trading warm bodies to still my constant loneliness made me sad. She was what I’d been missing all along. “Would it make me sound more like a douche bag if I said I never meant it like I do now?”
“There isn’t enough honest in the world. Watch your step.”
“What? Too forward?”
“No, I mean stop.” She held up her arm in front of me. She took a few steps and bent down to pick something up. “Stupid tourists,” she said, throwing a plastic bucket. Then she lifted the creature underneath it and held it out to me.
“Did you know he’d be under there?” I asked, staring at the tiny turtle she held in her hands with no fear.
“Sometimes the kids think it’s funny to trap them. The mama’s lay their eggs here. When
the little ones hatch, they start their journey from right here until it’s time for them to come back in a few years and lay their own eggs.
“Let me introduce you to a real-life sea turtle.”
I waved at the animal, unsure if she expected me to offer a handshake or pet its shell. She walked over to the waves, holding it up against the moonlight, like the scene from the Lion King. I would have laughed if I wasn’t in awe. “Have a safe journey, little one, and a good lost year.” She set it in the water. She rinsed her hands and stood. We watched it drift away, the waves carrying him at first
until he moved with them.
“I hope he survives.” The breeze picked up strands of her hair. They circled her head like
a crown…not more like a halo.
Stuffing my hands in my pockets, I step closer to her. “Did you say lost year?”
“The first year of the sea turtle migration is called the lost year because no one knows what they actually do, despite all the technology we have to track them, but I have
my theories.”
“What is your theory?”
Her eyes grew wistful as she looked out into the turbulent waves. Was she praying? “I
think they might be searching for what’s missing. Maybe they are looking the parents, who abandoned them, or the turtle they’re supposed to make babies with. Even if they find what’s lost, they never make up the time they spent searching.”
I put my hand on the small of her back. “Maybe they’re just partying it up, having epic
sex, and drinking all the time.”
She cracked a smile. “Yeah, maybe so, Jason.”
“My friends call me Flynn.”
She started walking again. “I’ll let you know
when we’re friends, New York.” I winced at her statement, but I understood her need to be guarded––her emotions probably conflicting with basic logic. I’d had the same argument many times myself tonight.
None of this made sense. It was like I’d lived a lifetime with her, but we’d never met.
It was messing with my head but being on the beach with her––it was worth all the crazy.
“I look forward to that moment.”

Author Bio

After receiving the best gift ever from her parents—her very own library card—she began reading everything she could get her greedy hands on. At sixteen, a friend asked her to make up a story featuring the popular bad boy at school. This wasn’t fan fiction…it was friend fiction. From that day on, she’s
known she wanted to be a writer. With the goal of making her readers both laugh and cry, MK Schiller has penned more than a dozen books, each one filled with misfit characters overcoming obstacles and finding true love.

Excerpt from High Stakes –
Blake refused to let me walk back to my dorm on my own when we left the bar. My one hour dinner had turned into three hours alone with Blake. He walked really close to me, and I enjoyed the warmth of his body shielding some of the gruesome wind. He insisted I wear his scarf again, and his scent made my insides warm. When we reached my door, I stood one step above him so we were at eye level. I took off his scarf and wrapped it around his neck.
“You can keep it.” he insisted, placing his hand over mine.
“Thank you, but you have a long walk yourself.”
“No, it’s not that far.”
“Aren’t you at the frat house?”
“Nope, I have a condo right down the street with Mitch and two other roommates.”
“Oh.” I stared down at his chest, too embarrassed to look him in the eyes.
He lifted my chin with his finger and his stare burned into mine. My heart pounded in my ears. He was so close I could smell the mixture of beer and mint on his breath, and the sensation of the warm air of his mouth on my chin made my stomach do that flip-flop thing again.
“Are we ever going to talk about the night of the party?” His question took me by surprise. I’d been hoping he wouldn’t bring it up.
“No.”
“Was I that bad of a kisser?” he whispered.
“No . . . it was a mistake, Blake, and since I’m your tutor now, it can never happen again.”
“So you liked kissing me?” He was so close I couldn’t think straight.
“Yes . . . I mean . . . Blake, please, can we forget about that night?” Heat flushed my face.
“Anything you want, Supergirl.” He leaned in and kissed my cheek. “Goodnight.”
“Night,” I managed to mumble. My legs wobbled toward the door and I looked back to see him still there, waiting for me to be safely inside. I gave him a small wave and closed the door behind me. I leaned against the door and attempted to catch my breath. There was some serious chemistry between us, and even with my inexperience, I sensed it. And it scared the hell out of me.

Teasers from High Stakes
Teaser 1:
“You have a way to make everything better. Do you know that?”
“Yeah, that’s what classmates are for.” I used my fingernails to tease his washboard abs through his fitted thermal.
He took a step closer to me, leaving little space between our lips. “Girlfriend.”
“Classmate,” I breathed.
“Classmates that kiss.” His eyes burned into mine.
“Oh, yeah,” I whispered just as he kissed me softly. Gently, his warm lips teased mine in soft and passionate kisses. Tasting me. Teasing me. I moaned against him.
“What else do classmates do?”
“They study,” I whispered while attempting to conceal my laugh.

Teaser 2:
“All the more reason to make a wish and see. Besides, today is your birthday. You’re owed a birthday wish.”
“I don’t know . . .”
I nuzzled the side of her cheek with my own. “What’s the worst that could happen? You would fall madly in love with me?”
“You’re so cocky, Blake Holland.”
“You have no idea,” I whispered.

Teaser 3:
She couldn’t hide her attraction to me. It was obvious she was playing hard to get. Good thing too, because I fucking loved a challenge.

Teaser 4:
“It really is beautiful out here.”
“Yeah . . .” My eyes were on her. Her body. Her curves. The way her hair softly danced in the moonlight, putting the sky to shame with its beauty.

MK Schiller’s Bio –
MK Schiller is a hopeless romantic in a hopelessly pragmatic world. In the dark of night, she sits by the warm glow of my computer monitor, reading or writing, usually with some tasty Italian…the food that is!
She started imagining stories in her head at a very young age. In fact, she got so good at it that friends asked me to create plots featuring them as the heroine and the object of their affection as the hero.
She hopes you enjoy her stories and find The Happily Ever After in every endeavor.
M.K. Schiller loves hearing from readers. Find her on Facebook, follow her on Twitter @MKSchiller, and visit her website at www.mkschillerauthor.com.

Excerpt from Tin Man’s Dance
“There’s a field not far from here. We could have a picnic. You should see the flowers that bloom there.” I bit my lip because he would see them next year. I wouldn’t. I kept going, my breaths materializing physically in the cool air. “There are roses and hydrangeas and…”
“Lilies? Are there lilies?”
“Stargazer lilies. Do you know what those are?”
He shook his head.
“They look like pink stars bursting open. They’re lovely.”
“Are they tall?”
I tilted my head back, eyeing him curiously. “Not really. Why do you ask?”
“Cause I want to know if we can f*ck in that field without being found out.”
I spun around, facing him. He feigned an innocent look while I stabbed my finger against his chest. “I can’t believe you transformed my beautiful fantasy into soft-core porn.”
James leaned his forehead against mine, his mischievous smirk causing my panties to dampen. “There is nothing soft-core about me. Besides, your fantasy was making me grow a vagina.”
I stared at him for a second before breaking out into a full-on laugh attack. I think we laughed hard enough to wake the sun back up.
His hand shifted to my lower back. He bent his mouth close to my ear. “I don’t know a damn thing about flowers, but I can tell you without a doubt there is no lovelier Lilly than the one I’m holding.”
Okay…so that just happened.

Teasers from Tin Man’s Dance
Teaser 1:
Lilly, if we are in a fairy tale, then you, my beautiful dancing girl, have successfully broken one hex, only to cast another.
“Not myth, a legend.”

Teaser 2:
“Same diff. But I agree, it would be foolish of us.” Even as he said it, he was inching closer, closing the gap I’d made between us.
I took a step back. “Behave.”
“Kiss me good-night, lover. I want to fall asleep with the taste of you on my tongue.”
Note to self: boys who took English lit could melt a girl’s panties right off.

Teaser 3:
“My mother always said ‘It’s never too late to start something as long as you intend to finish it.’”
“That’s good advice.”
My mom had an expression too: Sometimes you find trouble, and sometimes you find troubled. It takes a smart woman to know the difference. Clearly, in James Hutchinson I had found both.
