The thing is, I don’t even know who that woman was.
I liked Flynn but I adored Clay. His patience in perusing Pepper and his interest in her was all encompassing. He loved her smarts as much as he liked to look at her. He was (rightly) unapologetic about how he lived his early years but it surprised me that he honestly didn’t like his nickname…. it felt like as he could be himself with Pep and not have to live up to a perceived image that made him truly happy. Saying that, he was pretty perfect for Ms Montgomery, a man who knew the direction he wanted his life to take and who he’d like to take that step with.
I really liked Pepper. Her history made it easy to understand her feeling towards ‘jocks’ and her dedication to her work and helping people was admirable but she stood in her own way for so long it was making her lonely, something she wouldn’t acknowledge to herself. I loved her relationship with Sable, they were definitely opposite sides of the same coin. Seeing Clay bring out the livelier, happier current version of her younger self was fun. This pair were cute and funny together. Their connection was there from the first time they met, even though Pepper kept running away and hiding from it.
Was great catching up with the rest of Pepper’s family and finding out more about the Braden’s on Clay’s side.
This book was a lot of fun to read. It had all the elements I love from a Ms Foster story – heat, passion, romance, family who were supportive in so many ways, a feisty interesting leading lady and a determined, sweet and sexy main man.
I’m really looking forward to more from the Ridgeport Bradens.

The gods…. I devoured this book… I was so invested in this pairs story that I couldn’t put it down.
Melissa previously gave us Sully & Callahan in the series and I thought they were gonna be my favourite couple from the ranch…. then she introduced us to Sasha, Ezra (and we can’t forget Gus!!!!) Well, now I’m not sure who’re my favourites.
Sasha & Ezra had quite the connection. You knew there was something about them from earlier books in the Redemption Ranch world but then you get their full story and you understand their ties – I was so bummed that they hadn’t had their opportunity before now but had everything crossed that this time things were gonna work out for them.
The spice was definitely spicing in this instalment. My kindle was red hot when this pair were together.

Then there was the sweetness and sense of belonging that they each felt especially when Gus was around. That child…. his love for his ‘Sugar’ gave you an inkling as to why Sasha and Ezra were scared of messing up the dynamic they had but, in truth, Sasha was more of a mama to that little boy than his birth mother could ever hope to be!
I love the fact that we catch up with other characters from previous books. I adored Tiny in AToW, that man misses nothing!!!! That sense of family and being enveloped in something special is one of my favourite things about Melissa’s stories.
I cannot wait for Doc’s book and to see what happens when he meets his match (‘cos as we know, Melissa isn’t gonna give him a shrinking violet of a heroine… same as with his brothers!)
You could read A Taste of Whiskey as a standalone but I think you should consider starting the series and read in order!

I’ve said it before, I’m not a huge fan of Billionaire Romance stories, BUT there is a tiny handful of authors who write this trope that I will read without hesitation…. Melissa Foster is up there in the top 2 of these authors!!!!
Sable & Kane’s first meeting was entertaining. I knew at that point that I was gonna love her but I wasn’t entirely sure I was gonna feel the same about him. I really should know better by now though; Melissa always writes MMCs that I end up loving. I adored Sable’s snark and in all honesty, Kane’s arrogance didn’t annoy me like I thought it might.
This pair were definitely two peas in a pod. Emotional walls higher than Mount Everest, both avoiding relationships and commitment but they’re all in when it comes to their family and friends who were important to them! Their stubbornness to not get involved or attached then their hesitation to admit their feelings when they were falling had my heart going out to them and made me like them even more…. especially when the reasons behind their emotional lockdowns were revealed.
The one thing that I couldn’t quite get on board with for a bit was BDK, especially Kane calling himself ‘Big Daddy’… but the story of the origins of the name won me over.
I loved seeing this pair fall. Reading about them finding out more about each other, realising they were nothing like they initially thought, then seeing them grow together as a couple while dealing with the difficulties and concerns they faced was awesome.
There was so much emotion, some heartache, heat that was OFF THE CHARTS, surprising sweetness at how determined Kane was to take care of Sable and no third act break-up (which always makes my heart happy!!) as well as loads of interactions and great banter with family and friends.
The angst Sable faced was just enough – and entirely understandable – and how Kane supported her throughout was fab.
Can I just say grand gestures!!!! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I would honestly read a shopping list if Melissa wrote it, I just adore her books, characters and worlds.
I’m so looking forward to more from Ms Foster and cannot wait to find out what’s going on with Kane’s sister, Aria.
This is definitely on my reread list and a solid 5 🌟 recommended read.

Stayed up through the night to finish – I was at 79% and could not put my kindle down… This read is possibly my fave book to date from Ms Foster!!
Nicole and Declan have my heart. This was a journey of growth, understanding and self love. Nicole hasn’t had the easiest of time and she needs to think about herself for once. Declan has everyone else on his radar, but his own life, that seems to be buried under regrets and worries about so many other things. Our couple both learned a lot about what they needed and wanted and I loved that they finally stood up for themselves.
I loved the friends Nicole made over her summer and I’m hoping that there might be another story or two around some of the supporting characters.
Declan’s family were great, as was Nicole’s mum and her best friends but the gods, her daughter drove me to distraction!!
This book had heart, love, fabulous banter, laughs, connection, a great sense of family and belonging and SO much heat….
