Love is like a snowflake; beautiful but fleeting in its presence…

I’ve been in love.
But I’ve also been lied to, betrayed by those closest to me and I’ve suffered loss.
Sadly it’s those last three things that stick with me the most.
The only real constants in my life are music, Angus my dog and Rhiannon; my guitar.

But things changed when she walked into my place of work.
All blue eyes, curves and a warmth that could melt even my hardened heart.
I was taken over by feelings that I didn’t expect so soon.
Guilt plagued me and I took my anger out on her.
On Mallory.

But I fell fast and hard and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
When she too became the victim of heartbreak I was the only one who
understood her pain but I was the last person she wanted help from.
Would I ever convince her that we could be friends?
And would I ever accept that she couldn’t love me back?

About Lisa J Hobman

About Lisa J Hobman Lisa is a happily married Mum of one with two crazy dogs. Originally from Yorkshire, England, Lisa now resides in Scotland – her favourite place in the world. Writing has always been something Lisa has enjoyed, although in the past it has centered on poetry and song lyrics.

The story in her debut novel had been building in her mind for a long while but until the relocation, she never had the time to put it down in black and white; working full time and studying swallowed up any spare time she had. Making the move north of the border to Scotland has given Lisa the opportunity to spread her wings and fulfill her dream.

Writing is now a deep passion and she has enjoyed every minute of working towards being published.

Excerpt of Bridge of Hope:

Chapter One

January 2011

It had been the same damned nightmare again.
I’d been experiencing what the doctor called night terrors ever since receiving the news that Mairi had been
declared dead. The love of my fucking life… dead.
There were no words to describe the physical pain knotting my insides every
time I realised it was true and not just a cruel dream.
There had been no body to bury. But apparently that’s not uncommon when
people are lost up the side of a mountain like K2. People can lie undiscovered
for years up there, so I’m told.
Sobering thought.
The stupid thing was that I wasn’t even there when it happened, but for
some bizarre reason my psyche had built up its own series of events and
insisted on torturing me with the movie of Mairi’s death every time I closed my
eyes.

What I wouldn’t givefor a peaceful night’s sleep.

I’d taken on extra work whenever I wasn’t on the water. The boat was
only a seasonal thing anyway. And although tourists loved the area surrounding
the bridge over the Atlantic, taking a trip out on Little Blue on choppy water wasn’t for fainthearted, unseasoned
sailors. So I’d taken on work as a handyman. I was fixing taps, sealing sinks,
unblocking drains. Oddly, all the jobs seemed to be water related. Maybe that
was because I had a combination of water and single malt running through ma veins.
Who knows?
Keeping busy was my intention. Being occupied was the only thing
stopping me from slipping into a deep depression, and I knew all too well how
easy it would’ve been just to let go and fall into the abyss like Mairi did in
my nightmares.
I’d met her when I was out walking. I’d pretty much given up hope of
ever falling in love for real. I’d had a shot at it before—Alice was her name,
but the less said about her right now the better. But life likes to throw in
curveballs every so often. And so there I was up by the Buckle, taking in the
scenery and fresh air, when this fiery-haired girl tripped over her laces and
into my arms. She had the most stunning smile I’d ever seen. And her eyes…
Let’s just say when she gazed up at me she melted my heart. We chatted for ages
and it was just… so natural.
I was never going to be the same again.
Our relationship progressed quickly and was very physical. I was a fair few years older than her but I had no
trouble keeping up, if you know what I mean. I loved every inch of her body
with a passion I’d never experienced before. It was raw and real. I’d sit
watching her as she studied maps and reference books about climbing. Every so
often she’d glance up and catch me staring and she’d just smile, climb into my
lap, and kiss me.
After Alice and I split—I won’t bore you with the details just yet,
let’s just say that she was a nasty piece of work who messed with my head and
broke my heart, more than once—I swore off love and all it entailed. I didn’t need a woman in my life. Or so I
thought. But when I lost Mairi, it was like someone had ripped out ma heart and
stamped on it whilst I watched. The pain was excruciating.
Physical, gut-twisting pain.
I felt sure they’d gotten it wrong. She went to K2 with experienced
climbers. She was an experienced
mountaineer too. It’d been her dream for so long. I wasn’t about to stand in
her way, and the thought that she may not come back never even entered my head.
Not being able to say goodbye was the worst thing. The small memorial
service we held was devoid of emotion. It was as if her friends and family were
in some kind of denial.
I think I was too.
Thinking back to the morning she left for the trip broke my heart, but I
couldn’t stop myself.

June 2010

Her long, titian curls fanned out on the pillow beside me and she smiled
as she slept. She was exposed to me from the waist up and I lay there on my
side, willing her to awaken. I wasn’t going to see her for months and I wanted
to get my fill whilst I still could. I gently stroked her chin, down between
her creamy bare breasts to her navel. It was cruel but I wanted her to open her
eyes. Instead she whacked my hand away and muttered expletives. I burst out
laughing, trying my best to do it quietly but failing miserably.
She picked up one of the spare pillows and hit me on the head with it,
making me chuckle again. “Gregory McBradden, you’re a total shit. I was having
a really sexy dream,” she whined, eyes still closed.
I leaned in. With my mouth next to her ear, I whispered, “Open your eyes
and let’s make your dream come true, love.” That got her every time. Goose
bumps pricked her skin and she moaned. Her eyes sprang open and she pounced on
me, pushing me onto my back and straddling my waist.
God, she was so beautiful.
I gazed up at her. Her pert breasts begging for my touch. I was already
hard, but seeing her like this did something to my insides and brought out the
animalistic side of me. I gripped her hips as I inhaled a deep breath, trying
my best to calm the furnace raging beneath my skin. As she bent to take my
mouth in a deep, sensual kiss, her hair cascaded to my chest. Our tongues
slipped and slid together in an erotic dance, and every nerve in my body sprang
to life just for her. Every fibre of my being was drawn to her; needed her.
I swept the hair back from her face and fixed my eyes on hers.
“Do you know how much I love you, Mairi? Do you know how much I’m going
to miss you when you’re gone? It doesn’t matter how far apart we are. You’re
still in here,” I said, touching my head. “And in here.” I touched my chest
over my heart. She stared silently at me for a moment and then closed her eyes.
A tear slipped down her cheek and I caught it with my thumb. “Hey, what’s
wrong?”
She inhaled deeply. “Nothing. I’m just… really nervous about the whole
trip. K2 has been my dream for so long, but now… I’m terrified. What if I’m not
fit enough? What if I can’t do it, Greg?”
I slid my calloused hands up her smooth, taut thighs where they gripped
me, to the dip between her hip and waist as my eyes followed the journey of my
fingers. I swallowed hard at the feel of her muscles tightening under my
caress, and my breath caught in my throat as I replied, “Come on, love, you are fit enough and strong enough. You’ve
been working towards this for so long, how could you not be? You’re bound to be
nervous. But you’re fulfilling a dream, and there’s not many folk can say
they’ve done that. You’ll be fine. Absolutely fine. But I might not be.” I
stuck out my bottom lip, trying to lighten the mood. “My heart might break into
a million pieces when I’m left here by mysel’. What will I do?”
She bent and kissed my nose. And then with a sexy smile, she smoothed
her hands down my chest and it was my turn to shiver.
“You’ll have to dream of me naked on top of you like this, and that’ll
cheer you up.” She rolled her hips, making me bite my lip.
I inhaled deeply. “Aye, I suppose it will. But having you back here
again so I can do this again…” In one sweep of my arms I had her beneath me, my
body between her silky thighs. I sank into her, pleasure radiating from where
we were joined. “… is what I’ll be looking forward to.”
A breathy moan escaped through her full lips. She closed her eyes as she
welcomed me in and slipped her arms around my neck. I kissed her everywhere I
could reach, taking each nipple into my mouth slowly and nibbling on the little
buds as they tightened. Gasping, she fixed her eyes on mine as I moved deep
within her.
Overwhelming emotions ripped through me as I made love to her. My Mairi.
I took in every sensation and every look; my heart aching at the thought of
being apart from her for so long. As she pulsed around me and her orgasm took
her soaring off into the stratosphere, I kept my gaze locked on hers, hoping I
was conveying everything through my eyes that I couldn’t put into words, and I
followed soon after.
Afterwards, we lay there in each other’s arms for what felt like hours.
I was unwilling to let her go, telling myself I’d hold her for a few minutes
more. When she eventually withdrew from my embrace, I lay back and fought the
fears niggling deep within me.
Stupid fears.
What if she meets someone who’s more her age? What if she meets someone
who loves climbing the way she does? What if she doesn’t miss me as much as I
miss her? What if she loves it so much out there that she decides to stay? What
if? What if? What fucking if?
A couple of hours later we set off to the airport, and for the first
part of the journey we both sat in silent contemplation. There were so many
things I wanted to say, but the words never came and I cursed myself for being
so fucking useless at expressing myself.
Luckily, she knew what I was like. I’d spent the day before looking for
songs to express how I felt and I’d made a CD. The silence in the car was
deafening and so I reached over and hit play. I made eye contact with her for a
few moments as the opening chords to “I Will Remember You” by Ryan Cabrera
filled the small space between us. Turning my eyes back to the road, I saw her
in my peripheral vision, wiping her eyes as her lip trembled.
At the airport I pulled her into my arms and held her against my chest.
I knew she must have felt the rapid pounding of my heart as we stood inside the
terminal. Tears threatened. My eyes were desperate to give them up, but I tried
so hard not to make the situation more difficult than it already was.
Swallowing the lump in my throat, I pulled away and gazed into her emerald eyes
one last time.
My voice wavered as I told her, “I’m not going to say goodbye because I
hate that word and we’ll be back together before you know it anyway. So I’m
going to say have a great time and stay safe. And know that I’ll be thinking of
you every moment whilst you’re gone.”
Pulling me toward her, she kissed me with a ferocity that took my breath
away. I fisted my hands in her hair and returned the kiss with equal passion.
When I eventually pulled away, I cupped her face in my hands and stroked the
apples of her cheeks with my thumbs. “It’s just a few months, love. Go and show
’em what you’re made of, eh?”
She nodded and gripped my hands where they lay on her skin. Relentless
tears spilled from her eyes as she let go and turned to walk away. All my fears
bubbled to the surface once again and I couldn’t hold back. “I love you, Mairi.
And one day I want to marry you!” I shouted.
As soon as the words left my mouth I clamped it shut.
Fuckfuckfuckfuck!
We’d never discussed marriage before. But I have a tendency to say
what’s on my mind without thinking about the consequences, and this was one of
those times. I was filled with dread. Had I just given her a ticket to
Get-Out-Ville? Again, fuck! My heart hammered like it was trying to do a
fucking runner and my mouth went dry.
The people around us stopped and stared.
Mairi halted in her tracks and I froze. She turned to face me, her mouth
open in what I can only describe as utter, mind-frying shock. I swallowed hard,
my mind racing to find something to say to take the words back. But a beautiful
smile appeared on her face. She ran toward me and flung her arms around my
neck, her legs around my waist. Everyone around us applauded as I hugged her
into my body before letting her go and setting her down again. With one last
heart-melting smile she stroked my cheek, turned, and walked away.

EXCERPT:

She let the other woman go then stared at the phone, her mind on countless other things again rather than what was in front of her.
“Have you eaten yet, Em?”
Emeline screamed and jumped off the chair, phone crashing to the floor, claws bared.
“Noah?” She blinked, her chest heaving. “What are you doing in my home? How did you get in here? And why are you here scaring the life out of me?”
He smiled at her, and Emeline wanted to strangle him.
This man. This wolf.
He just wouldn’t leave her alone.
The pup was twenty-eight for God’s sake. A mere blip in the radar of her long life. It didn’t matter that her wolf practically preened when he smiled. No, she didn’t want any of that.
That stupid dimple on his cheek deepened, and Emeline held back a growl. She refused to notice the long, lean lines of his body, the waves of chestnut hair that fell to the back of his neck, or the muscles that bulged just right when he bent to pick something up.
Nope.
She didn’t want this pup.
No matter what her wolf said.

BLOG BARRAGE ~TEMPTED BY A ROGUE PRINCE (Eternal Mates #3) by FELICITY HEATON

temptedbyarogueprince-barrage-postgraphic

Today is the official release day of TEMPTED BY A ROGUE PRINCE by FELICITY HEATON. Book 3 in the fantastic ETERNAL MATES series, I’ve been waiting (not so patiently) for Vail and Rosalind’s story!!!  ~ Tracy

Before we get to the blurb and excerpt for TbaRP, we have some questions that Felicity kindly took the time to answer for us.
We’ve gone with some fun Q’s rather than anything specifically about the book/series – mainly ‘cos we’re nosey that way!!! 😀

BLP: What’s your favourite book genre to read?

FH: I actually like to read what I write, which is paranormal romance. Whenever I’m on holiday or I have a break between writing books, I like to try to work my way through my to be read pile, which is quite extensive. I really like the escape that paranormal romance gives me, an adventure in new worlds with fascinating new characters. I have a list of auto-buy authors who are my go to ones, and I tend to read new books by these authors first.

BLP: What do you like to do when you aren’t working on your books?

FH: When I’m not working on my books, I love to watch anime or read manga, or sometimes I have the time to draw and paint. I also love to play games on my PlayStation and attend my archery practice sessions.

BLP: You’re stranded on a desert island – what 3 items would you NEED with you?

FH:  I would definitely need my laptop, which I can read my books on and watch movies, a refrigerator, and a solar powered method of running these two items. I definitely couldn’t live without my laptop.

BLP: If you weren`t an author what would you be?

FH: If I wasn’t an author I would be a web developer still or maybe a designer. I work for years as a developer, building websites for e-commerce. I absolutely love programming, still program my own websites, and put together all the e-book versions of my books.

BLP: Who`s your favourite book boyfriend?

FH: If I’m allowed to say one of my own heroes, then I have to choose Vail. Vail is from my latest release, Tempted by a Rogue Prince, which is book 3 in my Eternal Mates series. I have had a soft spot for Vail ever since he walked into my head, a broken and dangerous male. There is something alluring about Vail. Maybe I just want to be the one to fix him, and give him something good back in his life.

Our thanks to Felicity for taking time out to answer our questions.

Tempted by a Rogue PrinceExcerpt

Vail narrowed his gaze on her, studying her delicate features and the way she held herself, drinking in everything about her, searching for a clue as to the reason for his strange reactions to her. Perhaps they had drugged him. It was all a ploy to weaken him and lure him into her trap. They wanted to watch her bring him to his knees. They would laugh as he suffered at her hands.

They were attempting to play on his compassion, but that had been their mistake.

He had no compassion left.

It had been wrung out of him thousands of years ago.

“Please?” she said again and gestured to the slab. “I’m not going to hurt you. I just have to heal you.”

He didn’t want to lay on it and allow her to touch him. He didn’t want her hands on him. Caressing. Fondling. Groping. He snarled and flashed his fangs again, and she shrank back, a little gasp escaping her.

“I would do as she asks, Mate. She isn’t going to hurt you, but if she doesn’t do as ordered, the demons will hurt her.” The deep male voice was little more than a snarl and Vail cast a glance off to his left.

A male with long dark hair streaked with gold occupied the cell opposite his, casually leaning against the thick deep grey stone wall. Green eyes locked with Vail’s, holding him fast. Fae markings tracked up the male’s arms, flushed with blood red and ash black, a sign of aggression. He was handsome too, despite the thick dark beard. He folded his arms across his muscular bare chest, the twin cuffs he wore clanking and filling the heavy silence, but they had no chain between them.

If this male spoke the truth, then she did too, and the guards would punish her for her failure. Vail pressed his hands against the sides of his head, dug his fingers through his blue-black hair and clawed his scalp, raking his nails over it. Gods, he missed his claws. He missed his armour. He needed it back. It was the only thing that could ground him.

The male pushed away from the wall and moved to the bars. He wrapped his hands around them and his gaze slid to the female. Lingering. Possessing.

Vail bared his fangs and hissed at him, barely maintaining the human appearance of his eyes and ears. He had to hold on to his veil. He couldn’t let these people know what he was. Who he was.

The man shrugged and kept staring at the female. “I warned you, Little Girl. You play with vipers and you’ll get bitten.”

“And I told you I will never leave someone to suffer if I can help them,” she snapped and folded her arms across her chest. “Stay out of this, Incubus.”

The male muttered something in the fae tongue and shoved his hands into the pockets of his dirty black jeans.

The female cast a scowl at him and bit out something in the same language.

Vail had long ago forgotten it. It had become useless to him after he and Loren had decided to save their people by moving them from the violent mortal world to the realm of Hell. No one spoke fae down here in this shadowy realm, and he had not left the elf kingdom in centuries.

No. That wasn’t true. He had left it. He had turned his back on it. He had to remember that. He had gone to war with his own people.

All had forsaken him.

But not Loren.

Vail returned to the bench and sagged onto it, his heart heavy and aching behind his ribs. Loren had kept trying to save him. Why? Why hadn’t his brother given up on him? Gods, he had wanted him to. He had pleaded every god of his species to make his brother leave him and forget about him. The gods hadn’t listened to him. He had tried forcing his brother to end his fool’s crusade to save him and save himself instead. Loren had refused.

What had he ever done to deserve such a brother?

He had murdered thousands. He had destroyed lands. He had ignited wars. He had done unspeakable things.

He didn’t deserve forgiveness, so why did a sliver of his heart cling to the hope it might be his?

The female stopped in front of him and he looked up at her, caught off guard by her sudden appearance and unable to mask his pain before she saw it. Her incredible blue eyes reflected it back at him, laced it with compassion that he couldn’t bear.

He closed his eyes, shutting her out, and lay back on the cold slab, no longer caring what she did to him. Loren would never give up. Vail had given up centuries ago.

His beloved brother was so much stronger than he could ever become.

The female dropped to her knees beside him and he tried not to squirm under her attention. He clenched his hands together and battled his instincts and the need to harm her. It wasn’t Kordula. He opened his eyes and stared at her when his mind refused to believe that, forcing himself to see that the one tending to his wounds was someone else. Someone with compassion. Someone beautiful.

This little wild rose was nothing like the dark witch who had driven him mad by degrees, destroying every part of him and building a monster in its place.

“What species are you?” the female whispered and eyed his mouth. “Are you a vampire?”

Vail snarled at her again, exposing his fangs, and didn’t answer her. He needed his strength and was using what he had to keep his veil in place while she healed him. It was difficult to maintain mortal eye colour and the human appearance of his ears while she was funnelling power into him, causing spasms in parts of his body, making him twitch and sending pain ricocheting along his nerves.

“Did you serve on King Thorne’s side in the war?”

He stared blankly at her as memories swirled together in his mind, a mixed up replay of that battle. He had seen Olivia in danger and had lost his head, had slipped into a killing rage and destroyed any who had dared to come near her.

He would have killed King Thorne too if Loren hadn’t appeared.

The sound of his brother’s voice had grounded him together with his presence, the comforting sense of him standing nearby. Loren had brought him back from the abyss, giving him a reprieve, like a shaft of purest sunlight penetrating the blackest boiling storm clouds.

His silence didn’t deter the female.

“Did you fight there and were captured like me?”

His eyes narrowed in suspicion on her. “You are no warrior.”

She was too slender. Too weak and fragile. Captivity hadn’t stripped her of muscle and physical strength. She had always been this way. Slender. Delicate. Not a warrior.

The effort of lifting a sword would most likely see her falling flat on her face from the weight of it.

She shook her head, her blonde locks dancing across her shoulders. “I drove the witches back. I was taking down a few demons with my spells when they grabbed me.”

Witches.

Spells.

Vail batted her hands away from him and growled at her.

His head swam, the cell turning with it, and he blinked hard, trying to focus on her as pain tore through his body, her healing spell going haywire inside him without her to control it. Witches. Spells.

Witch.

“Witch.” He flexed his fingers, filled with a black need to wrap his hands around her throat.

The sharp sound of metal on metal shattered the thick silence and two demon males prowled into the cell. Vail fought the agony eating away at him as he lay on the stone slab and silently bared his fangs at the witch. A stay of execution. When she next crossed his path, he would kill her.

The males grabbed her and he took satisfaction from her gasp and the frightened looks she cast at the demons towering over her.

“Time is up. You did not manage your task,” one male said, a grim smile tugging at his lips as he raked his gaze over her. “You must be punished.”

She immediately reached for Vail, abject fear in her round blue eyes. It drove the darkness from him and something compelled him to rise from the hard slab and punish the demons who meant to harm her. He tried to move, wanted to snag her wrist and pull her to him, needed to protect her but every cell in his body screamed in agony. He was too weak.

He had been too weak to stop these vile creatures from stealing his armour and now he was too weak to protect the female. He was the vile one. Despicable. Pathetic. He had given up and now he needed to fight.

He wouldn’t let them take her from him.

The two males roughly dragged her past him.

“Leave her,” Vail yelled and tried to move again.

He managed to fall from the slab this time, landing on his belly, and fumbled for one of the demon’s ankles. The male was too strong for him and easily broke free of his grip on his boot.

The female fought them, a wild feral creature as she clawed and kicked, and even attempted to bite them. She flailed in their grip, fear etched on her delicate features, terror that dug sharp claws into Vail’s heart and tore at it. They chuckled at her futile attempts to harm them.

They would pay for that.

Vail forced himself to move, refusing to let pain cripple him and stop him from reaching her. He would fight the limits of his body and his mind and wouldn’t stop until he passed out or death embraced him. He would bleed himself dry and destroy himself if only it would save her.

He crawled across the grimy damp dark flagstones towards the cell door, driven to reach her and unable to ignore the instinct to protect her that ran deep in his blood.

Little Wild Rose.

The demons slammed the cell door in his face. He tried to teleport to the other side but nothing happened. He cursed the cuffs binding him and banged them against the bars, desperate to reach her, the need so intense that it overwhelmed him and brought the darkness within him swiftly rising to the surface.

They dragged her out of sight and Vail roared his anger, eliciting whimpers from the occupants of several of the cells surrounding him.

The female shrieked in agony, the sound sending a chill skating over his arms and down his spine, and igniting his rage.

He was only vaguely aware of the world as he snapped the chain between the manacles, launched to his feet and attacked the magically reinforced bars of his cell, filled with a primal need to reach and protect the female.

His Little Wild Rose.

MY REVIEW ~ TRACY

Tempted by a Rogue Prince is the third book in the Eternal Mates series from Felicity Heaton – it tells the story of the dark Elf Prince Vail and Rosalind, who’s a witch.

The first 2 books were really great reads and I have fallen hard for this series and it’s characters.

I’ve been looking forward to Vail’s book since we first encountered him in Kissed by a Dark Prince (his brother Loren’s story)
Vail is a very different animal from his brother, with a haunted past and many many issues, he is a broken, lost and damaged soul (just the type of hero that I want to read about).

Felicity didn’t disappoint in telling us this pairs tale, I LOVED IT…. It has a different pace, very different heat and passion but jeez, it all worked beautifully!!!! After reading TBARP I am an even bigger Vail fan and I love Rosalind… She’s such a brave, caring but spunky wee thing!!!!

Action packed, emotionally engaging, heart wrenching with a fantastic plot and wonderful characters, Felicity has given us a series that is outstanding and I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Realms….

If you haven’t read any of the EM books yet, this is a definite must read that won’t disappoint. If you are already familiar with the Eternal Mates series you’ll be delighted with Vail’s story!

* I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review *

Lesley Jones Biography

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It’s a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.

I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football…The round ball version.  I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass… or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

BLOG TOUR & COVER REVEAL ~ Dark Indiscretions by Shakuita Johnson

Dark Indiscretions:

What happens when your
whole family is scarier than any nightmare and you have no desire to be
anything like them? Do you stay and go along with the family plans or do
you rebel and have them possibly turn their viciousness on you?
Jennifer Johnston experiences first hand why whispers are spoken in the dark
about her species being evil when she was just a century old. What
should have been another family dinner spent arguing over why she didn’t
want to keep the bloodlines “pure” by being married off to her older
brother turned into a nightmare and left her with more than tortured
memories.

Jackson Dawls and Taylor Durham had been pack mates,
best friends, and the other’s mate for as long as they could remember.
They were a deadly species all their own but even they feared the
Mystics and their overly cruel and barbaric ways, but unforeseen
circumstances bring them face to face with not one but a few. Will there
lives be in danger or is something great and unexpected awaiting them?

They also have to stay under the radar of the human society that is set out
to destroy those they believe to be “Tarnished” and a danger to mankind.

When the three meet long ago secrets are brought to the light. Secrets no
one but Jennifer knew. Not only do they have to learn to get along with
each other because they are fated, someone is also stalking Jennifer and
preforming sinister acts without her being any the wiser.

Jennifer must seek guidance from old acquaintances and form alliances with those
she never thought she would. She is met with riddles and startling
revelations that she never would have imagined possible.

Will they accept their fates and work together or will old fears destroy
their lives? Will Jennifer be able to reclaim what was taken from her
right from under her nose?

~ Amazon ~ Goodreads ~ B&N

The smell of sex was definitely in the air, and already Jenny’s heart was pumping.
She could hear the blood calling to her from the veins of all the humans present at Heaven’s Angles.
Stupid humans didn’t know they were in a bar full of killers. Not her problem.
Just because she wasn’t as bloodthirsty as some didn’t mean she still didn’t
need her fix. She didn’t have a death wish. She still needed the occasional sip
of blood to survive. She blamed it on her dual nature. Whatever; she would just
take what was needed and be on her way. She spotted a cute little couple that
was probably in their early twenties. They would do. All she had to do was turn
on the charm a bit and they would take her home. She would have a little snack
with her sex. Take care of both problems at once.

She walked over with her body’s calling powers in full effect to start the subtle seduction.
She loved the thrill of the power running through her veins. She didn’t give in to her
body’s demands very often but when she did she relished in it. She felt nothing;
“regret” and “remorse” were just words in a dictionary when she felt her Mystic
nature rising to the surface. She was in full predator mode. Now it was time to
catch her prey.

***

Perfect. Someone was coming out the back door. Now, as his soon-to-be bride hunted,
he would do the same. Poor sap wasn’t even going to see it coming.
He moved faster than the human eye could perceive and dragged his prey to the dark corner.
Fear was thick in the air. Good, he loved it when they were scared. He looked his prey over.
A cute little twink, slim, lean muscles, spiky blond hair, loads of mascara,
and cute lips. Mm, he would do nicely. He took his knife out his back pocket
and made a tiny slit below his prey’s collarbone.

“That’s right sweetie. Squirm for me. Just makes it more exciting.
Maybe I’ll fuck you while I drain you. Make it that much sweeter.”

***
Jenny had made it to her mark. Their eyes immediately darted toward hers.
“Mm, aren’t you both adorable. Are you guys up for a little fun tonight?
I promise you won’t be disappointed.”

She was ready to go. She could already feel her fangs trying to bust out of her gums.
She needed to get them out of here like five minutes ago.

“We’re always up for some fun,” the female purred at her.

Her boyfriend just nodded his head in agreement.

“Our place isn’t too far from the club. If you’re ready we can leave now.
It’s just me and Jim tonight, so we don’t have to say any goodbyes.”

That’s fucking perfect, Jenny thought. She made sure to use her powers of concealment on any
witnesses who might have seen her leaving with the couple, just in case.
You could never be too fucking careful, especially since the Mooyers.
She didn’t need their bullshit in her life.

***

Well, it seems like his Jenny found herself a nice couple to fuck and suck.
He loved it when she fed
her Mystic. It gave him hope that she wouldn’t fight him too much.
Having finished with his prey, he discarded the useless body. He then made sure to use
his magic to remove all evidence that he had been there.
Any human or other who got any bright ideas would think that there was a serial killer
 running rampant

Even the two little holes in his neck where gone. Usually after a kill, he
would at least try to move the body, but he didn’t have that kind of time right
now. His prey was getting away and he didn’t like her out of his sight for too long.

Dark Indiscretions: Monster Unleashed

What would you do if the
one fate chose for you vanished into thin air? What would you give up?
Who would you become to stay with that person?

Krista Bell Johnston finally knows what it’s like to be free.
The torture she endured at the hands of her psychotic father has unleashed the monster
her mother tried so hard to help her suppress. The only thing she wants
to do is be the shadow in the night that everyone is afraid of.

Taser “Taz” Jameson is barely holding it together. He lost Kris once to her
father and now he’s losing her to the monster she is becoming. He’s also
barely containing his own monster since Krista decided she didn’t need
her mates anymore. Nathan is still near but he may not be enough.

Nathan Brimming, Jr. is on the verge of losing not one but both of his mates.
One vanished without a trace. The other is avoiding him. He has run out
of patience with them both.

But when the monster that Krista has
become comes to them with a proposal; will they take her up on it and
possibly lose themselves or will they try to talk her down and get the
beast to put back on her chain?

“About damn time!” Jennifer yelled from
the backseat. She quickly exited the car before Jackson could respond. She
needed to see her daughter. Jennifer walked as quickly as her escalating
pregnancy would allow her. Her steps faltered when she heard the heart-piercing
howl of a Dylia, a howl that could only mean someone was in serious pain.
Before she knew it, Jackson was right beside her and holding her by her elbow.
She didn’t say a word.

“Do not leave my side. Something is wrong with Taser.
I would know that damn howl anywhere,” Jackson said.

They made their way into the compound and Jackson questioned the first wolf he saw,
which happened to be one of the triplets, Bane. He wasted no time in the questioning.

“What in the hell is going on around here?
Why does your Alpha sound like someone just shot him in his balls?”
Jackson inquired.

“It would seem that the Alpha Mate has vanished.
Poof, without a trace. She did so right in front of both her mates.
Nathan is just standing there boiling mad, while the Alpha won’t stop howling
and running circles around Nathan. He also growls at anyone who gets too close
to either of them. I was on my way to call you and Taylor when I ran into you,”
Bane explained.

“What in the hell do you mean vanished?” Jennifer screeched.

“Poof,” was all Bane said in answer and walked away, leaving Jennifer screaming
every unpleasant word she could think of to his retreating form.

This could not be his life right now. This shit could not be happening.
He was in the Twilight Zone. Yep. That had to be it. No other explanation.
He was going to wake up any moment from this cluster-fuck of a situation.
He had to wake up. He wouldn’t accept any other option, but as he looked at the face of his Nyhyia,
he knew that shit was long past ever happening. He should have fucking let Taylor drive her.

Miranda Thibodeaux has one goal: save her best friend Anna from masochist Adrian Kaiser, Incubi king and the vampire her father intended for her to marry.

Escaping the Council’s clutches, politicking with Celtic goddesses, surviving demon attacks, thwarting a ghost with deadly intent, and finding out her best friend Anna has a magical genetic pedigree linking her to the Morrigan are manageable.

However, when her Hunger is ripped from her body and takes physical form, draining everyone she can with abandon, Miri grows weaker by the moment. It isn’t long before everyone realizes that if Miri and her magic aren’t reunited, they’ll both fade away.

But with the goddess Babd assembling an army of the dead to combat rogue Empaths and demanding Miri’s participation in battle, demon attacks, assassination attempts, and shocking revelations about her mate Daniel’s past, she has to find help and fast.

Excerpt:

“May I have a kiss?” He lowered his head to the side and waited for my reply.

The sweetness of the question melted me. Our mouths met and moved over each other with slow brushes of lips and tongue. The edge of one of his fangs grazed my flesh, opening a small cut, and he sucked on it hard, releasing me when the wound closed. I wished I had fangs of my own so I could do the same to him.

He sliced himself and shoved his tongue into my mouth. His blood was hot and potent with unspent magic. It tasted of the cleanest water I’d ever drank—the most refreshing thing ever to cross my lips.

Perhaps the mind reading wasn’t so bad.

He slid my shorts down and off, coaxing my thighs apart even further until my knees rested on the mattress and I straddled his waist. I assumed he’d move to penetrate me, but he continued to kiss me and tease my pussy with his fingers.

I curled the edge of the T-shirt in my hands, hauling it up nice and slow so that I could watch his face as my stomach and breasts were revealed. He smiled at me, tracing first one, then the other areola in a careful, teasing circle. I arched my back, thrusting them out, enjoying the slow, gentle touch. His magic continued to follow wherever his flesh touched me, warm and kneading on my skin.

BLOG TOUR ~ Guest Post – LOVING THE OMEGA (Redwood Pack #7.5) by Carrie Ann Ryan

BLOG TOUR ~ LOVING THE OMEGA
A Redwood Pack Novel, Book 7.5

Release Date: July 15, 2014

Loving the Omega

Today you join us on the Blog Tour for the release of LOVING THE OMEGA by Carrie Ann Ryan.
We are delighted that Carie Ann has taken the time to tell us a little about her favourite hero or heroine!!!  😉

GUEST POST ~ CARRIE ANN RYAN

Are authors supposed to pick favorites? I don’t think so, but who knows, right? I always say my favorite hero or heroine is the one I’m currently writing, and honestly, that’s true. However, I also have another favorite that I can’t let go. Maddox dug his claws into me when I was first plotting The Redwood Pack all those years ago and I haven’t been able to stop loving him.
He’s the tortured hero, the scarred one, the twin that sees too much. His mate was the one he could never have, could never truly see.
See? He’s swoon worthy.

Maddox is the Omega of the Pack, meaning he feels every emotion of the Redwood Pack. Anything too happy, too sad, too angry, and it becomes almost unbearable. He and Ellie had their HEA in the novel, Shattered Emotions, and it’s one of my favorite books to date because I got to dive deep into their pasts.
Now I got to see them again in the novella, Loving the Omega. I wanted to catch up with the couple and see how they were doing after the war ended and how their HEA was looking up. I’m so glad I got the chance because they surprised me. Again. 😀

BLURB:
Maddox Jamenson almost lost his mate before he knew she existed, but his life is now exactly how he’d dreamed it. The war with the Centrals is over, and his family is healing one day at a time. Ellie is reveling in the simple perfection that is her life and family now, but that doesn’t mean she can shed the self-doubts and concerns that come with being a new mother, mate, and Redwood.

When a disturbance in their quiet life threatens to ruin everything they’ve fought for, Maddox and Ellie will have to learn not only to rely on each other more than ever, but find within themselves the power to forgive.

Author’s Note: This is a novella set after book 7 to give you a taste of Maddox and Ellie. It is best that you have already immersed yourselves in the Redwood Pack world, however even new readers will enjoy a glimpse of one of the Redwood’s favorite couples.

AUTHOR BIO:

Carrie Ann Ryan

USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.

Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.

EXCERPT:
As the Omega, he had that bond with each and every packmember—except his twin. He could feel the highs and lows that came with living, and it was his job to keep the emotional health of the Redwood Pack in alignment.
Without the mating bond, however, he hadn’t been able to feel Ellie. That alone had made him feel adrift in an endless stream of pain and loss.
Now, though, he had everything.
Or at least he tried to believe he did.
“No, I don’t need to talk about it again,” Maddox finally answered. Ellie let out a breath then leaned into him, brushing her teeth at the same time as he did.
They’d discussed his dreams and what they meant over and over in the past month since the Redwoods had defeated Caym and the Centrals, but they couldn’t find a way to make them stop.
There was no Omega for the Omega.
Not even the mate who loved him with everything she had could be his Omega.
“Mom? Dad?”
Maddox grinned despite the sour way they’d woken up and pulled Ellie into the bedroom at the sound of their daughter’s voice.
“We’re in here, Charlotte,” he called out, grateful he and Ellie had worn clothes to bed that evening.
Charlotte huffed and rolled her pretty brown eyes—so much like Ellie’s— as she walked into the bedroom. Seven years old and the little girl already had the attitude of a pre-teen.
Not that Maddox cared a bit.

It’s a philosophy that’s proven lucrative in both his business and personal life, and never was it more apparent than the night he laid eyes on Tate Morrison. After pulling out all the stops and convincing the sexy bartender to give him a try—he’s hooked.

Now, Logan finds himself in a predicament that demands more from him than a smart-ass answer and his innate ability to walk away when things get too deep.

He has a choice to make, and it’ll force him to do something he’s never done before—take a chance.

Tate Morrison knows all about taking a chance. He took the biggest one of his life the night he showed up at Logan’s apartment to explore his unexpected reaction to the man.

Ever since then, he’s thought about little else.

At first he was convinced his attraction was based solely on his body’s curiosity. But the more time he spends with the silver-tongued lawyer, the more Tate realizes that their physical chemistry is only the beginning.

He’s starting to catch a glimpse of what life with Logan would be like, and it’s one full of excitement and satisfaction—a far cry from what he had in the past with his soon to be ex-wife.

Each man will face their fears as they begin to understand the true meaning of give and take. Their feelings for one another will be tested, as will their very beliefs. But now that they’ve found love where they least expected it, will they be brave enough to reach out and take it?

“That’s your truck?”

“Yes.”

“It’s so…”

“So what?” Logan challenged as he pulled his keys from his pocket.

“Old?”

“Excuse me. I’ll have you know I was driving this baby all through college and she still runs like a dream.”

Tate watched as Logan walked over to run his hand over the scratched-up tailgate, and he was amazed that he even made that look sexy. Like he was stroking a lover.

“And it’s a she, huh?”

Now around at the passenger’s side, Logan opened the door and looked at him over the bed of the truck. “Yeah. Jealous?”

Laughing, Tate walked over to where Logan stood with a hand on the door and kissed him slowly on the mouth.
“I’m jealous of anything you stroke like that.”

“Get in the truck, Tate.”

“Or else?”

Logan stepped forward, crowding him back against the inside frame of the vehicle.
“You’re not ready for the or else…”

Tracy’s Review:

I’ve been patiently waiting for TAKE since I finished TRY but let me tell you, it was SO worth the wait. Ella Frank did it again when it comes to this smokin’ hot couple and gave us a fantastic continuation of Logan & Tate’s story!!!

Starting right where book 1 left off, TAKE focused on the boys and their developing feeling & attraction but where TRY gave us a lot about the thrill and excitement of a new, hot and passionate affair, TAKE took us to another level where it was less about the chase and more about the guys emotional growth and deepening desires and how they deal with their burgeoning ‘relationship’.

TAKE shows us a different side to both Tate and Logan and we follow them as they try to work out just what’s going on between them…..

Tate had some tough family issues to deal with at the end of TRY and we see how he faces these, how they affect him ~ and ultimately them both ~ in the 2nd book. Logan has commitment issues, can he get his head round these, go the course and stay with Tate & will we find out where his fear of falling really comes from??

Ella has such a fantastic style of writing. She catches & snares you in and from then on out you are hooked – even when it seems likes she is squeezing your heart to the point where you feel you can’t take any more you still don’t want the book to end!!!

I got so emotionally invested in the story and characters, that even though I wasn’t sure how things were gonna go (and at points I felt like my heart was gonna explode) I couldn’t put the book down..

TAKE is a definite 5 star read for me and I can’t wait to find out what happens with our gorgeous boys in the next installment of the Temptation series ~ I just cannot get enough of Logan and Tate!!!
