The Reluctant Gift by Sotia Lazu

Salina has earned her one-year vacation on Earth, damn it! She’s been an exemplary sentinel for her pack, and saved all the universes. Too bad she hasn’t been very effective at kicking Aherin to the curb. She had one little lapse in judgment—sleeping with the annoyingly persistent vampire—and now he just won’t leave. As if that wasn’t enough, her holiday plans are spoiled, her world is turned upside down, and she’s going to miss out on a yummy family dinner, all because she’s kidnapped on Christmas Eve…By Santa.

Excerpt
She turned to fully face him, and he tensed in anticipation of her wrath. He was more than surprised to see a tiny smile play on her lips, as she glided a few steps closer. Close enough that, when she slid her hand between her long legs to cup her sex, Aherin saw her push a finger between her folds. He’d spent some time during their journey wondering what her pussy looked like, but he hadn’t expected it to be completely bare.
“Are you coming in?” she asked. “It’s divine.”
He forced his gaze to the lake around her. It looked otherworldly, the dark waters, clear as a black diamond, reflecting the moonlight and odd patterns of stars hanging on this universe’s skies. Then again, he was in a world other than the one he knew. He wanted to go in the water—a swim was all he’d had in mind before he’d seen her breaking the surface, tossing back her silver mane. Now all he could think of was getting inside her.
“I didn’t know if you wanted to share.” He stood and leaned against a tree. Was there a challenge in her eyes?
She shrugged. “It’s a free world. Still. Thanks to us. I think we could reward ourselves with a little indulgence.”
His sensitive hearing picked up the sounds of her sister and his best friend rutting like animals back in the cave. Maybe Salina could hear them too, though he wasn’t sure how acute her shifter senses were in her human form. It wasn’t the right time to find out. “Is this your idea of indulgence?” he asked instead. “A bath?”
She smiled, and took another step toward the shore. “Could be worse. At least I don’t smell of blood anymore.” She tilted her head to the side, arching the appetizing column of her neck. “Do I?”
“Can’t really tell from here.” He was lying. She smelled of the blood she’d shed, and her arousal, and Aherin didn’t know which one drove him wilder with desire.
“Maybe you should come closer, then. Just to make sure.”
Was she…flirting with him? He’d wanted her from the moment he’d laid eyes on her, but she had cut off his advances, and they’d eventually settled into spending their time together exchanging barbs and jibes. He’d accepted that he’d never have her and convinced himself he was all right with that.
The taunt in her eyes now looked too much like an invitation.
Aherin realized he’d untucked his T-shirt and unbuckled his belt. He forced his fingers to stop, before he also popped the buttons of his jeans. He needed to know what she was offering before he took the next step. “Careful what you wish for, little shifter. If I decide you smell delicious enough, I may eat you.”
She grinned, and amber shone in the depth of her emerald eyes. “I’m the wolf, remember? I don’t think you could eat me.”

Dreaming of a Wolf by Sofia Grey
Alun was Olivia’s first, and he was supposed to be her forever. After a tragic accident steals him away, Olivia wonders how she can ever be whole again. When he starts talking to her in her dreams, she has to ask herself: is she going mad with grief, or is there still a chance for their forever?Excerpt

I lay on my side in bed, facing Alun, knees bent, our hands linked between us. He was cooking up some mischief, I was sure. The devilish glint in his eyes was usually a precursor to some wild idea. Driving twenty miles in the darkness of very early morning to watch the sun rising from a particular hill top. Throwing clothes and toiletries into a backpack for an impromptu weekend hike. Kite flying on a windy beach.
I’d never been so impulsive before I met him, or as bold.
He squeezed my fingers. Here we go. “You are going to marry me, aren’t you, Olivia Tanner?”
He asked me every time we got together, and I couldn’t help giggling. “You know I am, but not yet. We graduate first, figure out where we’re going to live, and then we get married.” I rubbed my knees against his, and watched a smile spread across his face. “What’s the rush?”
“You’re my Mate, Cariad.” The Welsh endearment sounded beautiful the way it rolled from his tongue. “I’m impatient to share my life with you.”
I blinked, and he was gone. My heart skittered, and I took a rapid breath. Had I been asleep?
Cautious, I stretched out one hand to where he’d been lying. The sheets were cold. He’d looked real. Felt as alive as he always had. You’re my Mate. I’d never heard him call me that before.

Red Dawn by Ann Gimpel
Llyr is a whale shifter with a big problem. The seas are dying, poisoned by heavy metal contamination and barrels of trash. In a bold and desperate move, he and his mate Galatea, the Sea Witch, hatch up magic to allow him to spend as long as he needs to on Earth.Masquerading as a marine biologist, Llyr signs on with a firm whose mission is to save the oceans. When his boss turns out to have malevolent underpinnings, Llyr returns to the sea for answers. With death lurking behind every corner, he and Galatea find themselves boxed into an impossible situation.Excerpt:

Llyr stood on a rocky, deserted shore on an unnamed island south of New Zealand. Cold, damp wind sent shivers along his arms. Galatea moved from where she squatted a few feet away and closed her arms around him. “Do you need a break?”
He shook his head emphatically. “No. I can make this work. I know I can.” He watched with disgust as one of his arms shimmered into half a flipper.
Galatea blew out a frustrated sounding breath. “Let’s start over from the beginning.”
“Let’s not. We’re here on land. I don’t want to retreat to our whale forms again. We’ve done that, and it didn’t make this any easier.”
“All right.” She let go of him and stepped back, eying him appraisingly, as if she were taking his measure.
Llyr straightened. It was important she not find him lacking—on any front. He crinkled his brow in thought. “I have an idea.”
She crooked a finger his way. “Out with it.”
“You have two types of magic. The sort all whale shifters have, which you discovered, and your Sea Witch power. You’re trying to use your witch powers, and my magic is fighting you all the way.”
He glanced askance at her. “You’re the first Sea Witch to pick a mate. Men had sex with them and then ran the other way. No one ever wanted to get much closer than that.”
Galatea rolled her eyes. “Yeah, we scared the crap out of everyone because of Circe.” Breath whistled from between her teeth. “Idiots! If we’d wished to sow harm, we wouldn’t require proximity.”
He strode to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. “You make it sound like we overreacted.” Llyr took a measured breath. “Circe and her nymphs turned Odysseus and his men into animals. Remember? They had to roust Hermes to save them.”
“Your point?” She screwed her mouth into a moue.
“Circe was the first Sea Witch, which makes you a direct descendent.” He tightened his grip on her shoulders. “I’ve always been proud and honored you broke tradition and mated with me.”
A corner of her mouth twitched. “Maybe I was relieved I wouldn’t have to spend hundreds of years by myself. Not that you weren’t the best looking whale I’d ever seen,” she grinned archly, “but you were also the only one who wasn’t scared of my power.”
He kissed the tip of her nose. “So can we try my idea?”
“Sure. Give me a moment.” She turned away from him, and the air around her glittered in diamond tones, some clear, some yellow, some a watery rose. When she turned, she nodded sharply.
Llyr reached deep to where his own magic dwelt and threaded a tendril outward to weave with hers. Muted triumph flashed through him when his power braided neatly with hers. He gave the spell time to mature, feeling the difference as it filled him.
Time dripped past; the sky shaded to deep purple as night approached. Clouds heavy with moisture peppered the horizon, and a light snow pelted down, but Llyr wasn’t cold anymore.
“Gala?” he ventured as the last of the dying day washed over them.
She opened her eyes. “Yes.”
“This will work.”
“I thought the same, but there’s a price.”
Llyr’s stomach tightened. “Tell me.”
“When I use the witch power, I can do more, much more. My own magic is closer, more personal. What we’ve created is draining me. I can maintain it, but not hold my human form at the same time.”
“What do you want us to do?” Llyr asked.
The edges of her body became insubstantial as she struggled to maintain her shifted shape. “Since our first efforts didn’t work, we’ll do it this way. I’ll see if I can’t figure out a way to keep both my magic and our combined spell afloat at the same time, but for now I must return to the sea while I can still get myself there…”

Courting Mortality by Loralie Hall
Eli’s spent eternity thwarting the same family curse that granted his brother, Loki, ever-lasting fame. Eli kind of got screwed in that one. His plan to stay single and detached has worked for several millennia. And then he meets Marley. She’s making him abandon all his resolutions, except the one that never lets him forget the curse. Falling for her means her death, and he won’t let that happen.
Excerpt

As you are, for all of time
To taste neither love nor death
When you find the one worth more than life
She’ll draw her last mortal breath
“At least tell me Mister Last-night didn’t do what the previous guy did.” His teasing laugh fell short, and he snapped his mouth shut when her head shot up.
Please don’t let him be talking about… “Which last guy?”
He glanced in her direction before turning back to his cable. “The one who wanted pictures.”
She never should’ve given him so much detail after that date. She’d done it because she liked the idea of him making a similar request, and had been trying to judge his reaction, but that didn’t mean it was a good idea. “It wasn’t like that.”
He put down what he was doing, and gave her his full attention. “Is something wrong?”
“No.” She turned back to the cable, crimping as furiously as possible while still being accurate. She wouldn’t look at him from her spot on the counter, pretending it wasn’t a big deal.
Eli extracted himself from the spindle and snakes of wires, and crossed the room. He took the crimpers from her hand, and set all of her work aside too. “Except you just crimped an RJ45 onto that cable instead of an RJ12. What’s up?”
Oops. She never made mistakes like putting a network connector on a phone cable. Her pulse raced through her veins at his light touch, making it hard to think. She needed to look away, but his gaze held her captive. If she’d been drawing a blank before, it was nothing compared to now. He’d put the thought in her head. The reminder one of her dates had asked for pictures when he’d dropped her off. Told her if she wasn’t going home with him, she at least owed him a topless shot to keep him warm that night. And now part of her was hung up on the thrill of doing that for Eli.
The temptation of turning him on, without ever touching him. “You’re telling me you can’t guess?”
The corner of his mouth pulled into a lazy smile. “I’m telling you I don’t want to guess.”
She couldn’t ignore the mental images of what it would feel like if he leaned in and kissed her. “I just… It’s not as though I had a problem with the request from Mister Send-me-pictures. Just with the requester.”
There, that hadn’t been so bad. They could gloss over it, laugh about it, and go back to work. Except she’d rather they took a break and got down to other things instead.
“Really?” His thumb stroked the inside of her wrist. Did he know he was doing that? She sure as hell did. The feather-light sensation spilled through her, desire growing between her legs. He stepped closer. “Who would it take, then? Just out of curiosity.”
They needed to get this project done. To step away from this line before it was too late. Who was she kidding? It had been too late months ago. At least for her. “Well, I’d have to like the guy first. Actually being attracted to him helps.” Would Eli have any idea she was talking about him? What the hell was wrong with her? And why couldn’t she stop?
His voice dropped an octave. “And I would assume you can’t dive straight into things. You’d want seduction. Teasing. The right words to set the mood…”
Even as she told herself to back away now, images raced through her thoughts, of stripping in front of the camera, one piece of clothing at a time, knowing Eli was her audience. A hands-off, private show where she’d caress herself, pinch her nipples, slide her fingers between her legs, and get off on the idea that she could turn him on that way.
The vivid image wouldn’t leave. Her sex whimpered for attention, and her breasts ached to press into his palms.

For Heaven’s Cakes by Diane Saxon
Twelve years of living in Ireland smoothed Beau’s rough edges, and hard work as a construction worker made him a wealthy man. The call of his pack is stronger than he can resist though, and he isn’t averse to returning to show his small home town in America what he’s made of himself.
What he doesn’t anticipate is meeting the local pharmacist’s daughter – in his wolf form. By day, he renovates the pharmacy, and tries to cajole the lush assistant into having dinner with him. By night he watches Catherine bake her fantastic creations and blossom through her art.
Sleeping on her bed each night in his wolf form isn’t exactly ideal, but how does he tell her the wolf she’s come to love, is the man she lusts over?
Excerpt

The cracked, peeling paint looked different from the way it had twelve years earlier when Beau had been a regular visitor to the pharmacy. His younger brother obviously still was from the way he strode inside, allowing the door to bump against the stopper and bounce back. It creaked and groaned at the stress, and almost hit Beau in the face. He shot his arm out to stop the door with the heel of his hand, feeling the crackle and splinter of the paint against his skin while he observed the quick grin on his brother’s face as Zeke glanced over his shoulder at him. Bloody kid, never would grow up. Zeke would have just laughed if he’d managed to break his nose for him. Always one to challenge the supremacy of the pack, he’d probably ruled the town in the absence of his two older brothers.
Zeke had taken pride in showing him around. A lot had changed, fast food restaurants had sprung up – they’d filled their bellies in one, enjoying the rich taste of the promised breakfast.
With a shake of his head, Beau wiped the shards of old paint from his hand and stepped inside.
Doc Tyler must still own the place from the way the shelves were stacked – exactly the same as they always had been. Beau tracked his gaze around the pharmacy, noted the perfect placement of each item, not a speck of dust in sight, unlike the outer shell of the building. On a closer look, the shelves had deteriorated, some of the screws had pulled loose and not been fixed back into the wall.
He’d bet his life the old boy still kept the condoms behind the counter so he could monitor the teenagers and scare the shit out of them for daring to think about having sex. Doc Tyler should have been proud of them, at least they were the responsible ones, those who bought condoms instead of risking unprotected sex.
He glanced at the counter, and expected to see skinny Doc Tyler, eyebrows pulled low as he glared over the top of his half-moon glasses. Beau had thought he was old twelve years ago, he was probably ancient now. The guy had scared the ever-loving crap out of him when he was kid, but looking back, there was no-one who’d shown him more charity than the Doc. A tough word and a soft heart.
Instead of the old boy, a curvaceous brunette stared at him with eyes the color of cinnamon. Her startled gaze caught and held his with stunning luminosity and a hint of familiarity in them. His automatic reaction to the sight of a beautiful woman was to smile, but she ducked her head and applied herself to serving the middle aged lady who struggled to keep a pair of lively young boys in hand.
Zeke made straight for the counter, leaned his elbow on it and cupped his chin in his hand while he stared at the delicious, buxom morsel on the opposite side. With a flick of her hair, she lifted her nose and ignored him completely while she addressed her customer.
“Thank you Mrs. Porter, I hope it helps.”
She gave a stiff smile while she kept her attention on the older lady who scrabbled with her package and hastened her two boys from the shop as though she believed Zeke’s wild boy attitude was contagious. Beau glanced at Zeke who stared with puppy dog eyes at the assistant. Perhaps it was.
“Hey, kitty cat.”
Beau tried not to roll his eyes, but his brother was so predictable, his deep Irish voice smoothed the way for the next woman to take her place between his sheets.
“Zeke.” All cool business, the woman raised an eyebrow and Beau sidled in closer, unable to resist the soft curve of her mouth, the wide invitation of her eyes.
“What can I help you with today?” The slow roll of her husky voice gave his breath a sharp hitch.
Beau imagined she’d practiced the line so many times in an attempt to avoid all the connotations and interpretations his bad brother could spin on it. Still, Zeke leaned in, gave her his undivided attention and a wolfish grin, “I need a party pack. What would you recommend?”
She drew in a long breath through her delicate nostrils and Beau watched with increasing interest as her ample bosom expanded. She blew out through beautifully sculptured lips and his mouth watered.
“Zeke, I think you know we don’t carry adequate stock for your requirements,” Beau almost spluttered out his appreciation of her cheerful rejoinder, but she held up one long, elegant finger “…but I can offer you these.”
As she turned to the shelf behind her and bent over to reach the condoms, Beau stretched onto his toes to get a good look at her over the counter. The rounded globes of her ass were nicely enhanced by the tight stretch of her black skirt. His pulse kicked up and he gave an uneasy swallow. He lowered himself back down as she straightened and turned. The quick flick of her gaze caught his again before she gave her attention to his brother.
“Here you go, Zeke. I placed a special order just for you.”
A soft choking sound came from Zeke as he picked the blue box up from the counter. Face blank, the pretty assistant stood stock still. The only giveaway was a rapid blink of her eyes as she waited patiently.
“You are an evil woman.” Zeke managed to splutter out as he studied the box, then waggled the condoms at her. “I have never bought extra small condoms in my life.”
Unmoved, the corner of her mouth kicked up in a small smile that dimpled her soft rounded cheek. Beau crossed his arms over his chest and leaned his shoulder against the display rack to better appreciate the show. It had been a long time since he’d witnessed someone get the better of his younger brother. He may have been away for a while, but he imagined from the darkened stain on Zeke’s cheekbones it still didn’t happen often.
From their exchange, it was plain the pair knew each other very well and took great enjoyment out of taunting each other. Her smile widened to light up her pretty face. Beau dropped his gaze to her cleavage as she leaned closer to his brother, to give a conspiratorial whisper, “Perhaps you should check you’re not putting yourself and your many partners at risk by using the wrong size.”
Zeke slapped the package down on the counter and pointed to the shelf behind her. “Just give me the damned normal condoms.”
She opened her eyes wide, tilted her head and gave an innocent blink sending Beau’s pulse rate into over-drive. He pushed away from the rack and stepped in closer to get a better view, but the woman’s attention centered on his brother as she fisted her hand and rested it on one curvy hip. The husky gurgle of her laughter warmed his belly.
“But, Zeke, last time you came in here you demanded king size. Now you think normal will do?” She leaned forward, sympathy oozed as she raised her free hand to press it against her opulent breasts, and mock whispered, “Are you okay? Do you think you need to speak to the Doc?”
Beau gave a wide grin, delighted to see his brother getting a run for his money from the delicious babe.
“Did someone call?”

Mixed breed vampire shifter, Gabe Moncrief, has made a name for himself in the Cage, an arena where only the strong survive. He’s training for the fight of his life–and vengeance–when Rain Pettis appears. As an Elemental – a supernatural being descended from Zeus himself – she holds the key to his future in the Cage.
As much as she loves her brothers, Rain needs to break away from their overwhelming influence to become her own person. Gabe is the only shifter capable of standing up to them. But when Rain learns a secret that tests her loyalty to her family, she has a decision to make. Does she risk it all for love? And can she bear watching Gabe endanger his life within the Cage?
Excerpt

An ill-timed crack of lightning singed Gabe’s eyebrows. He ignored the sizzle of energy, and landed a final punch. His opponent’s eyes rolled back into his head, as he sank to the ground. The elemental effects of the arena disappeared. Gabe once again stood in the center of a dirt ring. No rain drummed on his head. No dust clouds or lightning threatened.
Gabe didn’t wait for the announcement of the knock-out to echo across the arena’s sound system. He strode to the center of the ring and lifted both arms into the air. A chorus of screams reverberated in the arena, bounced off the rafters, and grew to a deafening roar.
He lifted his gaze to the owners’ box. The tallest of the three figures lingering within the glass structure lifted his hand in salute. Gabe tilted his chin and moved his gaze, zeroing in on the lone female within the box.
Rain Pettis was a force to be reckoned with, both literally and figuratively. Unlike her eldest brother, she didn’t acknowledge him as the victor of the fight in any way. She was strictly professional, always dressed in formfitting black business suits, with her blonde hair swept into a tight bun. The tiny black glasses she wore weren’t prescription. Elementals had perfect vision, courtesy of their godly sire. The glasses perched on the end of Rain’s perfect nose were merely a costume piece for the role she played as the unattainable ice princess.
She didn’t fool him one bit. He’d seen the looks she gave him when she thought he wasn’t paying attention. She was interested—no doubt about it. But he’d always steered clear. To mess with the youngest Pettis would be akin to having a death wish. Rumor had it her brothers were overly protective, even going so far as to threaten any man that dared touch their sister. The risk didn’t stop Gabe from sweeping his gaze across her oval face, luscious lips, and lower, down to the tiny hint of cleavage displayed by her lace-trimmed blouse.
Nice. He was enough of a vamp to consider flying up to the box for a closer look. Only the dangerous warning vibes her brothers sent his way kept his feet grounded in the dirt.
A sudden shower of cold rain washed over him. He swiped his hand over his damp face and grinned. Apparently she’d caught him staring. A cold shower was definitely what he needed. Nothing got to him quite like a woman determined to play hard to get.

Pursuing Grace by Anita Cox
Though Grace McGovern just graduated college, she’s restless, has no idea what to do with her life and to top it off, she finds herself single and unsatisfied with relationships in general.
Roman intends to claim Grace and make her his mate and part of his pack. He’s searched for her for five years and now she’s within his longing grasp, apart from one minor problem. She has no idea she’s a wolf.
As Grace tries to identify and cope with her inner wolf, she also needs to figure out the unprecedented and undeniable pull Roman has on her. Could he finally offer her the fulfilling relationship for which she’s been yearning?
Excerpt

When Grace woke again, Roman’s fingers were tangled in her curls. She was back in her human body, naked under piles of hospital blankets. A few strands of hair broke as she tried to untwist his fingers.
“You’re awake.” Roman sat up, blinking. His dark hair in a knotted mess around his face.
“I feel pretty weak,” Grace said with a croak.
The doctor came into view. “Grace, hello. You’ve been through quite a lot in the last twenty-four hours.”
“How’s my wolf?” Tears stung her eyes as the words came out. She had no idea about the wolf before this, but felt wholly responsible for the animal’s decline.
“There’s no need to cry. Your wolf is regaining her strength. I’m going to suggest you go back to the main house, get plenty of food and rest. Try not to shift again until you’re back here, so we can tend to your wolf right away.” The doctor handed her a pair of sweats. “Your clothes were destroyed, so you’ll have to wear this for now.
“Does she need bed rest?” Roman asked.
The doctor shook her head. “Bed rest would be overkill, but nothing more intense than a stroll through the woods.”
Roman patted Grace’s leg and stood. “I’ll give you privacy to change.” He stepped outside of her room and closed the door.
“He’ll be a good mate”
Grace shook her head as she heard the words inside her head. “I can’t think that far ahead. Let’s get you healthy first.”
“He’s strong and he loves us already. He’ll be a good provider and a great pack master.”
Grace chuckled. “You move a little fast for me.”
“Talking to your wolf is good,” the doctor said with a smile. “But you don’t have to do it out loud. You can talk in your head. Just think the words.”
Grace looked at the doctor, red faced. “I need to say it out loud for now. This is all new to me. I already feel like I’m going crazy.”
Doctor Maryann laughed. “Yes, but remember when you need those private moments, you don’t have to speak. For what it’s worth, he will be your mate.” She didn’t wait around for Grace to argue. She called over her shoulder, “You can go whenever you’re ready.”
“You get some rest now,” she said to her wolf, “we can talk later.”
Outside, Roman leaned against the wall in the hallway. “I’ll walk you back.”
Grace offered a weak smile. “It appears like my wolf isn’t the only one who needs rest. You look exhausted.”
Roman shrugged while gazing at the ground in front of him. “I’m fine.”
They walked back to the main house in silence. Grace’s legs were weak and shook slightly. It felt like she’d run a marathon.
The sun was setting in the distance, the air cooled. Grace took deep breaths of the country air appreciating its cleanliness, purity and the quiet surrounding her.
When they walked through the back door to the house, the kitchen was buzzing with three women cooking. Grace ducked her head, knowing she looked like a mess.
“Oh you poor dear,” an older woman rushed over to Grace’s side. “Let’s get you into the shower. Come on, there’s a back stairwell, so no one sees you until you’re ready.”
“Uh, thanks.” Grace looked over her shoulder at Roman.
“I’m Wendy, Colin’s sister.” The woman spoke as she pushed Grace up the back staircase. “These were the servants’ stairs back in the day…” She pointed to the left, “turn here.” There was a hidden doorway that led to the main hall in the second floor. “Here we are.” She opened Grace’s bedroom door and pushed her through.
Grace turned to face her and slow the older woman down. “Ma’am.”
“Wendy.”
Grace looked at her, her blonde hair wound in a tight bun, worry lines forming on the sides of piercing blue eyes that were full of warmth as she smiled at Grace. “Thank you for sneaking me up here. But my legs are so wobbly and you’re really rushing me…”
Wendy smacked her hand to her forehead. “I’m sorry, it’s just that everyone is coming to dinner tonight. I know we women are so hard on ourselves, and you’ve been through so much and feeling out of sorts and a mess would only…”
“Wendy!” Grace couldn’t help but giggle. “Slow down. You’re right. I need a shower and my own clothes. But don’t worry so much. I’m not as fragile as your brother seems to think.” Grace smiled and walked over to her suitcase, which was empty.
“Your clothes have all been ironed and hung in the closet.” Wendy said a little slower. “We wanted to help. I hope it doesn’t feel like an invasion of privacy. It was only Tiffany and me in here.”
Though it made her uncomfortable, she knew their heart was in the right place. “That was sweet. Thank you.” Her clothes were arranged by type and color. It was the most OCD arrangement she’d ever seen. She snagged a pair of jeans and T-Shirt. “Uh, where are my underthings?”
Wendy chuckled. “In the dresser out here. I’m sorry.”
Grace crossed the room to the dresser. “You really have to stop apologizing. I’m going to need a bit of privacy. I’ll be down as soon as I can.”
Wendy nodded and fled the room before she could apologize again.
Grace leaned against the dresser and took a deep breath. She was exhausted and very hungry. One step at a time. One foot in front of the other.
She gathered her things and went to shower. It took all of her energy to stay upright and not sit on the floor of the shower stall. As soon as she was reasonably clean, she toweled off and dressed.
Staring at herself in the mirror, she could see her wolf in her conscience. It looked better. Still weak, but its head was perked up and looked like it was smiling back at her. “How are you feeling, girl?”
Weak but much better thank you. Please go down to dinner. We need to eat.
Grace smiled. “Yes, well, I can’t meet everyone looking like this.” She quickly applied a light layer of tinted moisturizer, a bit of blush and a thin layer of mascara. “What do you think?” she asked her wolf.
Go eat.
She made her way down to the dining room, following the sound of voices, plates and silverware scraping against dishes. When she walked into the vast dining room, her heart leaped in her throat. There were so many new faces.
Roman was at her side before she could even look for him. “I have a seat for you over here.”

drunk and having a good night. Roxie and Lacey dance on one of the mini stages,
dancing like they’ve done many times before. They catch the attention of two
men but these aren’t just ordinary men, they’re rock stars, looking for a good
night without their rock star label. Cole and Mason are brothers and are both in the rock band, Black Inferno. Cole
is the lead singer and Mason the lead guitarist. His little brother Mason has
been begging for a regular night out. Mason has never been a fan of the
groupies and after parties and Cole finally takes pity on his brother and
agrees to his night out. Cole realizes that he too is fed up with the after
party life, the drugs and easy women are boring. While the band is in L.A they
find a night club where they are sure none of their fans go and hope they can
have a good night without being recognized.

It’s in this night club where all four meet. Cole spots the gorgeous brunette
dancing on the stage and immediately wants her. Lacey can’t take her eyes from
the dark and dangerous looking stranger. They all go back to the girls
apartment, Cole and Mason discover just how close the best friends can be which

Cole and Lacey find themselves drawn to each other, Lacey is scared at how fast
she is falling for this new man in her life. Cole keeps his rock star profile
from Lacey, he feels bad for lying but he’s scared that if he tells her it
could ruin what they seem to have. The truth will always come out but can Lacey
handle the truth and can she forgive Cole when she finds out who Cole really
is? Does her love for him make her look over his lies?

“How
about we give you boys a little something?” I hear Roxie say from the
other sofa. “Hell yeah,” Mason growls. Cole looks up at me. “Let me
see that sexy body of yours Lacey.” It’s like I want to do anything he
wants me to. Without thinking I get up from the sofa and walk to Roxie, who is
already standing in the middle of the two sofas. She puts her arms around my
shoulders and smiles over at Cole and Mason. “Lacey and I have had many
lonely nights together.” She trails her hand softly up the side of my
body. She licks my cheek and says, “I love hearing her scream.” I
hear Mason groan and I laugh as Roxie slaps my bottom. I trail my finger from
her throat and down to the swell of her breasts. “You scream just as loud
Rox.” “Fuck.” I turn at the sound of Cole. He has his hand on
his crotch. I grab a fistful of Roxie’s hair and pull it to tilt her head back.
She knows exactly what I’m doing and lets her mouth fall open. I lick across
her soft lips and then Roxie takes my mouth. We passionately kiss, just like
many times before but this time we have two very sexy men watching us. I reach
up and grab Roxie’s breast, squeezing hard because I know she likes it. I feel
a body press against me from behind and I know its Cole. I see Mason turn Roxie
around just before Cole turns me to face him. He kisses me wickedly and reaches
behind me to unfasten my dress. He pulls the zipper down very slowly kissing
along my jaw as he does. His eyes burn me from the inside when he looks at me
in my black lacy underwear, then he gives me a very sexy smile. “Lacey in
lace.”

What happens when
you discover the guy you’ve been seeing is a rock star? Well that’s what
happened to Lacey when she met Cole; now she’s forgiven him she’s agreed to go
on tour with his band.
On tour she has to cope with Cole’s fame, his skanky groupies and getting to
know the rest of the band.Roxie, on the other hand, has a totally different dilemma. Not only is she
quickly finding out her feelings for Lacey are a lot stronger than she thought,
but she has to watch her with Cole. She’s also falling for Cole’s brother,
Mason, but how can she love two people? Unable to cope with everything she
seeks solace in drinking; leading to some huge mistakes that she may not be
forgiven for.

Dangerous Beauty by Michelle Hardin Promo Tour

One day in a beautiful garden a young half Italian, half Russian boy met the daughter of his father’s African American business associate for the first time. Nineteen years later destiny brought them together for a second time.
After the tragic death of his mother, Nathan Salerno decided to live a life devoid of love. His only goal in life was to live up to the expectations of his highly feared Mafia Boss father and make him proud to have him as an heir. As the anniversary of his mother’s passing drew near Nathan prepared to do what he did every year— disappear. When his childhood friends convinced him to join them on a vacation instead, Nathan’s life was changed forever.
Carter Steele couldn’t remember her mother and thought she would never heal from witnessing her father’s murder. After that tragic night she moved to Hope Beach under a new identity. Her new life was far different from her previous one and hiding her true identity was harder and lonelier than she’d ever expected. That was until she spotted the handsome blond in the BMW.
Will Nathan and Carter’s love survive the obstacles they face?
Chapter 4: Beautiful Stranger
The plane ride to Hope Beach was the most fun Nathan had experienced in a long time. He’d forgotten how much fun it was to hang out with Mickey, and even though he didn’t say it out loud, he was kind of looking forward to the trip with his brothers.
When they got off the plane Nathan was greeted by the warm winds and sunny sky. He was glad they made it to Hope Beach before dark so he could look around the “little piece of heaven,” as Kyle called it. And he was right. Hope Beach was beautiful. The sunny sky, warm breeze, the beautiful luxury homes, manicured lawns, and the gorgeous Hope Garden, all took Nathan’s breath away. He couldn’t take his eyes off of the beautiful assorted flowers that gave the garden a rainbow effect. It made him remember his mother. She loved gardens and she’d spent most of her time tending to her own. Gardening was a skill she had taught Nathan when he was very young. His father would always tell her that it wasn’t a skill that a man needed to possess, but his mother continued to teach him anyway. Nathan didn’t mind it at all, as a matter of fact, it brought him peace. Together-with the help of professionals- he and his mother built a beautiful garden that Nathan hadn’t visited since her death.
Nathan was still admiring the beauty as he waited for the stop light to change. When he looked up he saw the light was still red, so he turned his attention back to the garden. He noticed a large rose garden full of beautiful roses of various colors and his eyes settled on the yellow patch, those were his mother’s favorite. He remembered how she used them as decoration in their home and on his favorite big white gazebo, and the memory brought a smile to his face. It was memories like these that made him miss her even more.
He was enjoying the good memories of his mother when he noticed a pair of gorgeous brown legs appear in front of the yellow roses directly in his line of sight. His eyes began to journey upward to see the owner of those beautiful legs only to find a woman with her back toward him. She bent forward and picked up a rose that wasn’t rooted in the ground, giving Nathan a mouthwatering view of her incredible ass in the pair of khaki shorts she wore. Damn, he thought biting down on his bottom lip. She had the perfect ass, round, plump, and it looked soft as hell. Nathan was sure it would fit so perfectly in his hand.
When she stood up, she flipped her beautiful long hair over her shoulder. Nathan didn’t know if he had ever seen hair that beautiful before; it was like a thick black cloud that made its way down, ending in the middle of her back. It looked so soft; Nathan yearned to feel it against his skin. His eyes traveled to her beautiful legs again and he admired her gorgeous skin tone. God, her skin looked as smooth as silk, and so sweet like a rich Hershey’s chocolate bar. He really wished she would turn around so he could see her face.
And he got his wish.
When she turned around, for the second time in minutes, something in Hope Beach had taken Nathan’s breath away.
He was stuck, gazing at the stunning woman standing in the rose garden. She looked to be far away in thought as a small smile appeared on her beautiful face. She brought the rose up to the most beautiful full lips Nathan had ever seen, and placed a soft kiss on it. Nathan’s breath caught as a rush of memories flashed through his mind of him and his mother in their garden. His mother would pick up one of her roses and kiss it then recite something she made up that Nathan just couldn’t remember at the moment.
Shaking his head of the memory, his attention went back to the beauty in the garden. Her hair blew in the wind, and the sun kissed her smooth milk chocolate skin perfectly. She looked like an angel. Nathan was fighting to stay in the car, but it was like an invisible force was pushing him to jump out of the car, take her in his arms, and kiss her senseless. He wanted to know her name. No, he needed to know her name. He needed to know the memory that put that beautiful smile on her face. He needed to know w-
“Nathan! Hello, earth to Nathan!”
Nathan blinked rapidly and shook his head. What the fuck was wrong with him? Was he actually considering jumping from his car to run across the street and confess his love to a complete stranger? Holy shit…
He looked at Mickey, who was giving him a striking What-the-Fuck look. Nathan frowned. “What?”
Mickey pointed to the traffic light. “It’s green. It’s been green. Where the hell were you man?”
He could hear the horns blare from the drivers behind him but he wanted to steal one more peek at the beautiful stranger. When he looked her way once more, his breath caught in his chest. She was looking at him! She had a confused expression on her face, most likely wondering why the idiot in the black BMW was holding up traffic. Their eyes met, and damn it, Nathan was stuck again!
Her eyes were the most beautiful hazel with a hint of green and they held him captive, he was powerless against them. A slow smile appeared on her beautiful face and Nathan couldn’t help but mirror her smile. She raised her hand and waved at him which made him smile wider. She let out a shy giggle and shook her head, and Nathan could have sworn he swooned like a little bitch.
Nathan was completely captivated by her. Her smile was warm and her eyes were expressive, it was like they were having a conversation without even speaking to one another. He was going to run to her, he needed to run to her. God, why the hell did he want to run to her? What the fuck was wrong with him?….

This and more in Part two of the edge of your seat trilogy Dangerous Beauty Part Two – A Mafia Princess.

Chapter 1: I Love you…
No one ever warns you about what happens when you fall in love. But why would they? There’s no point. When it happens, there’s nothing you can do to prevent it.
When you fall in love, you don’t just give your heart, you give your entire self. You put your heart in the hands of another, and that person becomes a lifeline. Your heart beats for them. They are the air you breathe. They are your smile, your laugh, your joy, and your sadness. That single person has the power to build you up until you feel a hundred feet tall—or shatter you, leaving you broken and scrambling to pick up the pieces of who you once were. Of who you were with them.
Love does this—
What happens if that person dies? What happens when the person who holds your beating heart in their hands no longer lives? Do you die with them? Well, that would certainly be easier than trying to continue life without your heart, your smile, your laughter, your joy—and even your sadness.
How can you continue living in a world without the one person that made your life so much more than it was before?
One day at a time?
Bullshit.
How can you make it to the next day if there is no tomorrow? If there is no year from now?
If you lose the person that makes you more than you were before you met, life becomes one long drawn-out day. The misery never ends, and there is no moving on.
“The One”. You hear people say it all the time. How they want to find “The One”. Well, what if you found “The One” and they were taken from you. How do you continue to live, sanely, in a world without “The One” person that fit you perfectly?
How?
Quick Answer. You Don’t . . .
That was the conclusion Nathan came to when he slipped into hysterics, Carter lying unconscious in his arms.
“Carter! Carter, wake up, baby!” He gently touched her face. “Wake up, Carter. Please! Let me see your eyes, honey.” Her eyes remained closed. “Carter, I’m begging you! Baby, open your eyes. Carter, please! Carter! Honey, open your eyes! Carter, wake up!”
When Carter’s eyes remained shut, Nathan held her close and did something he hadn’t done since he was a child. He cried. He held her tightly in his arms, begging and praying to God and anyone else who was listening to bring her back to him. He would give everything he possessed just to hear her voice, to see her smile at him, to hear her musical laugh, to have her grow old with him. He begged and pleaded while burying his face in Carter’s neck.
“Nathan?”
Nathan lifted his head quickly at the sound of Carter’s voice. Her eyelids fluttered open, and she looked up at him through glassy eyes.
Nathan sighed with relief, “Carter, baby, thank God. Look at me, honey, and try to stay awake for me.”
“Nathan, it hurts,” she cried softly.
The doors of the elevator opened, and Nathan rushed in, carrying Carter, while Anastasia quickly pressed the button for the first floor.
“I know, honey. I know. I’ll get you to the hospital as quickly as I can,” Nathan said frantically. He held her close as the elevator began its descent.
Nathan couldn’t think straight while she was in his arms, barely conscious. He would never be able to forgive himself for not keeping her safe from this. He didn’t understand how Mitchell had managed to pull this off, but he’d find out. He knew that Mitchell, Kent, and Patrick couldn’t have pulled this off without allies on the inside helping them get past security and gain control of the elevators. Nathan silently vowed at that moment that he would find every man involved and make him pay—severely.
He focused on Carter. He could see she was struggling to stay awake. When her eyes began to close again, Nathan gave her a light shake. “Carterina, baby, keep your eyes open.” She looked up at him, her eyes glistening with tears. She slowly brought her hand to his face and wiped away his own. “I need you, Carter,” he confessed as more tears fell. “I need you, I can’t live without you, baby. I need you to fight for me. Please,” he pleaded with her desperately.
A sob escaped Carter’s lips, “I’m so sorry, Nathan.” She winced when pain shot through her head, but she didn’t stop talking, “I made a mistake. I’m so sorry,” she cried.
Nathan pressed his face against hers, “No, no, baby. Don’t apologize. This isn’t your fault, its mine. But I’ll make it up to you. I promise.”
“No, Nathan. It is my fault. You don’t understand. I made a mistake.” She took a deep shaky breath as the sobs continued to fall from her lips. “I made a mistake. He warned me not to mess up, but I did,” she cried.
“Carter, I don’t understand. Who warned you?”
“My father,” she sobbed. “I turned away from them. I could have killed them, but I turned away. I’m so sorry.” She cried and cried as Nathan held her close, trying his best to calm her.
“Shh . . . Don’t cry, мое красивое Роуз. Please . . . I can’t take it,” he said as he placed soft kisses atop her tears.
“I don’t . . . I don’t know how much longer I can stay awake, Nathan . . . I can’t—”
“Yes, you can, Carter!”
“No, I can’t,” she cried. “I pr-promise I’ll come back to you, Nathan, but I . . . I . . .”
Carter felt herself drifting again. She could faintly hear Nathan yelling her name as her eyes rolled to the back of her head and darkness once again overtook her.

I’m a British-born,
Australian-based author. I’ve previously published two novels for teens (in ’09
and ’12) and have recently completed my first piece of erotic writing.

At the beginning of
2014 (after having spent years writing other genres – historical, metaphysical,
children’s, romance) I decided I wanted to write about S.E.X.

I discovered very quickly
that I couldn’t JUST write about sex, I wanted (I needed) it to have context,
depth, and meaning. So, I started writing, and writing, and writing… I had
intended to produce a short story but in less than 3 months I surpassed the
100,000 words mark and I wasn’t even half-way finished! Besides, I was having
SO much fun! 😀

That was in May
this year. Then I decided to turn SHE into parts 1 & 2 and I took a break
from the writing to focus on publishing the first part.

Through FB
networking I met some wonderful women who read my novel and offered suggestions
and were all very positive about the strength of the story. Together we edited
it, and I designed and created the cover and the internal layout. And on
October 17th 2014 I pressed the “launch” button and voila! I’m part
of the Kindle and Amazon community 🙂

Excerpt

So far, so good…

The hum of the Ducati was reassuring, as was Abby’s tightened grip around Steady’s waist. They were riding down the devil’s own washed–out, rutted, rock–filled hell of a rubber tree logging road, and for the first ten minutes of the harrowing journey, while she’d still been suffering the lingering effects of the sedative, it was just as difficult to keep her on the bike as it was to navigate the frackin’ jungle track.

But now they were clipping along at a steady, if decidedly slow, pace. No JI goons could be seen in his rearview mirrors—-though it was hard to tell exactly, given the fact that the forest encroached from both sides and above. And if his calculations were correct, a half hour or so more should see them entering the lovely kingdom of Thailand.

See, he wished he could call and tell Dan, sometimes it’s better to Lone Wolf McQuade things…

Abby squirmed against his back, interrupting his thoughts and alerting him to the feel of her supple thighs pressed against the outsides of his hips and legs. Which, in turn, immediately focused his attention on her soft breasts—-and distended nipples?—-grazing his back.

Okay, so who was he kidding? Like he hadn’t been keenly aware of each of those things since the first moment. Even while worming his way through the dense undergrowth of ferns and vines after escaping the encampment and hiking back to the Ducati, he’d been hard–pressed to concentrate on anything other than the feel of Abby squeezed all nice and tight against him. Abby’s soft skin touching his. Abby’s sweet smell—-even sweaty and bedraggled, she still emanated a soft cloud of dryer sheets and cocoa butter lotion—-filling his nose and making his head spin.

 BLP Review – Rebecca

Full Throttle is the seventh instalment in the Black Knights Inc. series, romantic suspense with some seriously hot alpha military men. This group is funny & fabulous and, with their banter and bromances, you can’t help but be swept up into this crazy world with them.
Steady Hands, Cool Head…

Carlos “Steady” Soto’s nerves of steel have served him well at the covert government defense firm Black Knights Inc. But nothing has prepared him for the emotional roller coaster of guarding the woman he once loved and lost.

Will All He’s Got Be Enough?

Abby Thomson is content to leave politics and international intrigue to her father-the President of the United States-until she’s taken hostage half a world away, and she fears her father’s policy of not negotiating with terrorists will be her death sentence. There’s one glimmer of hope: the man whose heart she broke, but she can ever tell him why…

As they race through the jungle in a bid for safety, the heat simmering between Steady and Abby could be a second chance for them-if they make it out alive.

I had a love/hate relationship with Carlos and Abby throughout this story – they were not my favourite couple in this particular book or series. Abby was a touch too much with the ridiculous cursing, it just got on my nerves and while I understand it’s supposed to be a quirky, funny part of her personality it didn’t work for me.

“Son of a biscuit!”

“Well, cinnamon-toasted Jesus!”

“Son of a silverback gorilla!”

No, No, No! I prefer my son a bitch to be called a son of a bitch thank you very much…..

Carlos and Abby have a lot of guilt and baggage to work through from an incident and its consequences many years ago. The attraction between them did not have enough chemistry for me and this is possibly because I didn’t connect with Abby. Having said that when they are in the jungle, after Carlos made his decision to go `Lone Wolf McQuade-ing it`, I liked their interactions and enjoyed them but the sex scenes were just meh for me which is unusual for this series.

The couple who did grab me were Dan and Penni – they were believable, hot with chemistry and my heart ached for both, I am intrigued as to where the author will take these two together or apart.

The story is fast paced and my heart stuttered at one point with an injured character thinking would she? No not him…. She wouldn’t? It romps along with the action and banter which the whole series does so well. As a continuation of the world and characters she has created it works to lead us to the next but as a standalone in the series for me is the weakest.

Will I read the next though? Hell yes especially to see what Dan, and a certain injured man-whore are up to!!

Hansel #4 by Ella James

3

Hansel.

Gretel.

They were captives who shared a wall, and cut a hole in it so they could hold each others hands. Until he killed their captor, Mother. Then he disappeared, and as the world swooped in to save the Children locked away in Mother’s house, the girl called Gretel became…lost. No breadcrumbs.

Finding Hansel, years later, is the shock of Leah McKenzie’s adult life.
Finding out how far she’ll go for him – that’s no surprise.

Leah’s given Hansel – Lucas, he says it is – every piece of herself.
And he’s been both cruel and kind.

What they share is dangerous.

What they feel is dark.

Their history is twisted.

Their hearts already broken.

And that’s before the secrets are revealed.

Excerpt

My pulse quickens as I see a long lump on the bed farthest from where I’m standing.

For a moment, I think I hear him talking in his sleep.

For a moment, I think of sliding under the covers with him, just to enjoy the irony. We’re sleeping with a wall between us tonight, but instead of a hole he sawed, there’s a door he left propped open. For once, we can actually reach each other.

But he said he didn’t want your company.

I exercise my will power and tip-toe slowly around the hotel bed, so I’m standing right beside his sleeping form.

At least I think he’s sleeping.

His cheek is pressed against the pillow, and his unhurt hand is curled into a fist up near his chin.

I’m fighting the urge to touch him, battling the forbidden desire to lean down close enough so I can brush my lips over his damp hair. From where I’m standing, I can smell the shampoo he used. It’s fruity; sweet. It’s so at odds with his big, rugged body. As if to make me want him more, he shifts his hips a little, and the sheet covering his chest slips down, revealing huge shoulders, smooth, hard pecs, and the upper portion of his incredible abs.

Oh my.

That’s a lot of muscle there.

I take a step back, feeling exhilarated because he’s beautiful, and I’m a bad, bad girl for sneaking in to watch him sleep.

That’s when his hand shoots out and grabs my wrist.

I let out a little cry as he jerks me toward the bed. Then he’s sitting up. His hands close around my waist and I’m dragged atop his sheet-covered lap. He strokes up from my hips, over my sides, and over my bare shoulders, tickling my neck before he gets a firm grip on my face.

“What did I tell you,” he hisses, “about coming into my room?”

Blog Tour – All I want by J Daniels

Title: All I Want
Series: Alabama Summer #2
Author: J Daniels
 Release Date: November 24, 2014

Synopsis
Luke Evans is a heartbreaker.

I didn’t want to give mine to him. Not when he kept me out.

He gave me enough, just enough to make me fall in love with him.
I say this to convince myself. But I know the truth.

I would’ve fallen in love with him at a distance.

Handing my heart over to Luke was the easiest thing I’ve ever done.
I was naive when I wished for more, when I hoped he wanted the same things I did.

I try to hate him. I try to forget him.

But it’s not that easy.

Love is a ruthless bitch, and I’m her latest victim.

Tessa Kelly is a man-eater.

When she sets her sights on you, she doesn’t just consume your heart, she goes for your soul.

What we had was perfect, real, and all I would ever want.

But she destroyed it.

She destroyed us.

I try to hate her. I try to forget her.

But it’s not that easy.

Love is for people who have hope, and I have none.

#1 Where I Belong
Review

I have to say that ‘All I Want’ was a very pleasant surprise and is a much more consistent rounded out offering than the previous in this series. The cover suits the book on this occasion and the promise the author showed progresses and develops, don’t be mistaken I enjoyed ‘Where I Belong’ but it’s inconsistencies in character development and stretching of the plausible did rate it down for me.

‘All I Want’ is Tessa and Luke’s story. We pick up 12 months after their split. Tessa is unhappy and also “desperate for some dick” so resorting to internet dating.

I’ve been registered on Ignite for nine days, and every guy so far that has contacted me has either been too old, too weird, or given off a rapey vibe from his screen name alone. One guy landed on ClitMaster69 when he went through the tedious task of settling on a name. And then there was FingerBanger and ItsSmallButWorks. Seriously? I applaud you for your honesty, dude, but I believe my ideal mate is supposed to be able to fuck like a champion, and there is always a size requirement when it comes to my pussy. You must be this long to board this ride.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tessa, totally unapologetic for her sexuality, sassy, sarcastic, bitchy and a drama diva, funny to read and my type of girl. She is trying to find her way after breaking up with her One, he doesn’t want kids and commitment so it’s for the best, right?…………………

Luke I wanted to slap him as often as I wanted to jump him, much like Tessa’s feelings for him! After the breakup he returns to his manwhore behaviour, even though this hurts Tessa I had to laugh when she catches him at her brother’s wedding getting a blowjob. The girl has style!

Oh sweetie. You might want to go disinfect. He’s got the herp.”
“Oh my God. Are you serious? You have herpes?”
“What? No I don’t!”
“He’s really sweet about it though,” I say sympathetically at the blonde. “He pays for my Valtrex every month.”

Luke is not ready to let Tessa go, he may in his head think ok, so what? But his heart says different. Of course his stubborn ass takes its own sweet time to get on board with his heart and hence our story.
The chemistry, passion and pure unfinished business between these two explodes into angry sex that obviously sorts absolutely nothing but is hot! The pull/push between them is at times frustrating and yet at others tugs at the heartstrings.

Overall I enjoyed it, Luke is a bit of a dick (most men!) and juvenile to the point you dislike him sometimes but if you don’t throw your kindle and continue then it’s a sweet read with a little angst thrown in. Ben, Mia and Nolan of course make appearances, Nolan stealing the show as usual! It will be interesting to see where the author takes us with Reed’s story and if Luke and Tessa have killed each other with sex or weapons by that point!

Prologue
Two
months ago
No.
No.
No.
Jesus. Fuck, no.
There are absolutely zero good-looking men at this thing.  Besides Reed, who disappeared an hour ago with some giggly brunette, and the man I refuse to acknowledge. Weddings are supposed to be a
breeding ground for nameless hook-ups, and I’m shit out of luck at this one. So instead of getting drilled in a concealed corner somewhere, my dress bunched around my waist as a stranger becomes familiar with my sounds, I’m having to find other ways to pass the time.
Eat cake.
Hit up the open bar.
Eat more cake.
Dance with Nolan.
Get cake with Nolan.
Steal Mia away from Ben.
Watch Mia get carried off by Ben.
And now this.
Sitting at an empty table, watching as Ben, Mia, and Nolan all slow dance together. Nolan’s in between them, rubbing Mia’s growing baby bump, while Ben can’t seem to keep his eyes off his new wife. I’m
crazy happy for them, but right now, I can’t watch them share another perfect family moment in front of me. I need a break from this. Just a few minutes to get some air.
I step out of the tent and head across the lawn toward the Estate House. I’m walking aimlessly, not having any destination in mind. I just need to get away from all the love for a second. Love is great
when you’re with someone. It’s better when it’s reciprocated. But it fucking sucks when that shit is one-sided.
And that’s the only way I’ve known it.
I walk down the side of the building and
turn right to go around the back. As soon as I round the corner, I see him.
He’s leaning against the building behind some shrubs, head back, eyes closed, lips slightly parted.
His sandy-brown hair is cut shorter than normal, almost buzzed completely, and it does really
annoying things to his face. Like show it off more. Those ridiculously gorgeous features of his are on display for my eyes right now, and I don’t have to avert my gaze because he doesn’t know I’m watching. He has no idea I’m staring at his sharp, angular cheekbones, the fullness of his mouth, or the bump at the bridge of his nose that I see as this perfect imperfection.
God, I fucking love that bump.
His face tenses as his arms move to the front of his body, and I let my eyes roam to the reason for this change.
The blonde I recognize from the wedding is
on her knees with his cock lodged in her mouth, deep throating it until she
gags. His hands are in her hair, encouraging her, pulling her closer until she
practically swallows him whole. I lift my eyes to that face I was just secretly
admiring seconds ago. It’s no longer tempting me to keep my presence unknown.
Because there’s no way in hell I’m going to let this shit happen right now.
Fuck him, and his face.
I step in front of the bush and make a fist, clearing my throat into it.
Luke’s eyes shoot open and he grabs the blonde’s head, sliding her off his cock.
She releases it with a pop and a grunt of disappointment.
Apparently, she isn’t finished. But she looks pretty fucking finished to me.
Luke tucks himself away quickly. “What the fuck, Tessa? What are you doing?”
I look from him to the blonde. “Oh, sweetie. You might want to go disinfect. He’s got the herp.”
Slutty blonde parts her lips as if she’s waiting for another cock.
She stands and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand, glaring in Luke’s direction.
“Oh my God. Are you serious? You have herpes?”
Luke’s wide eyes train on mine. “What? No I don’t!”
“He’s really sweet about it though,” I say, looking sympathetically at the blonde.
“He pays for my Valtrex every month.” I turn my eyes to Luke, letting out a swooning sigh.
“So romantic.”
Blonde shoves against Luke’s chest. “You’re disgusting.”
“I don’t have fucking herpes!” Luke adamantly vows as he tightens his belt.
I watch, basking in my victory as blonde trudges through the grass, getting her heel caught in the process. She stumblesna bit, glares at Luke over her shoulder, and disappears around the corner.
“I can’t fucking believe you just didnthat,” Luke says, prompting me to whip my head around to look at him. He buttons his suit jacket up and steps closer. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
You.
What happened between us.
And the fact that you’ve obviously moved on without any difficulty.
I close the gap and he freezes, his hand flattening against his jacket. My gaze flicks from his crotch to his face, and I mask all the hurt of seeing this asshole with another woman behind the fakest smile I’ve ever worn.
“There’s absolutely nothing wrong with me. You, on the other hand, might want to go to the clinic. If you didn’t have an STD before that whore touched you, I’m sure you have one now.”

I turn and storm away before he can give me a comeback. But more importantly, before he can see the smile fading from my lips.
