EMILY MICHAELS ~ Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong? Like you never fit in, or you weren’t good enough? This is how I have felt for as long as I can remember.I see the world differently than everyone else, I feel everything differently and I reflect on life differently. And being different in my world is not a good thing.I live in a place that’s divided between the rich and the poor, the beautiful and the unbeautiful, the prestigious and the mediocre. I have always belonged in the first category, because my father was the Governor of Georgia.Growing up around people I could never relate with, my life had always been lonely, that was until my senior year when I met the one boy who would change my life forever. A boy who my parents would never approve of because he didn’t come from money or the same social class. He rode a motorcycle, had tattoos and was considered to be from the wrong side of the tracks. Yet he was still envied by many.Ryder Jameson was someone who every guy feared, and one who every girl wanted to be touched by. He didn’t do attachments, or have friends… until me. And for the first time in my life I finally felt like I belonged. When I was with him, my different didn’t feel wrong or ugly. He made me feel beautiful – insightfully beautiful. Then one day my world came crashing down on me, and it would be six years before I’d once again see the boy I fell in love with.RYDER JAMESON ~ After working my ass off I am given the opportunity of a lifetime, and if I pull it off I will be the youngest FBI agent to run one of the biggest undercover operations in history. Only the case that gets thrown in front of me leads me back to the one place I swore I would never return to, and to the only girl who’s ever mattered to me.Except Emily Michaels is not the same girl I left behind. She still looks the same, she’s still beautiful inside and out, but there’s one thing that’s very different about her, one very big thing, and it’s something I didn’t think was possible.Ryder and I come from a world where politics separates us and wealth defines us, but even after all this time we will not let it divide us.Here is our story.
BLP REVIEW ~ REBECCA
K.C. Lynn is a favourite of mine as she gave me the one and only (take no substitutes) Sexy Sawyer, an awesome book boyfriend of the ‘Oops, no panties, let me throw myself at you’ and cue the shagging him senseless variety! So I was very intrigued by this standalone project especially given the subject matter. It’s a thought provoking story with a romance that she does well as always, however it lost me slightly with the believability on one thing but it niggled which makes a four and a half star rating.
The title ‘Beautifully Insightful’ is perfect as you will see when you read. K.C. Lynn has given us a heroine with a disability, and as well as writing a good book with a beautiful romance she shows a whole different side to living and coping in this world with a disability. The observations from both sides of the coin (it will make sense I promise!) are very insightful (!) and poignant.
Emily:
Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong? Like you never fit in, or you weren’t good enough? This is how I have felt for as long as I can remember.
I see the world differently than everyone else, I feel everything differently and I reflect on life differently. And being different in my world is not a good thing.
I don’t want to give spoilers so I’m not going to rehash the blurb or the story, however this is a different spin on the high school sweethearts, good little rich girl with the bad boy from the wrong side of town love story. I adored Emily and the way the author wrote the before and afters of her disability, the way we judge as a society without knowing reasons for someones ability to do or not do a simple task, how looks or wealth for example define us by the shallow but for others they can see the beauty inside.
Ryder’s struggle to do the right thing by Emily results in a harsh decision that breaks both their hearts however, 6 years later fate throws an opportunity in his path and he seizes it so he can see her again but fate is a fickle bitch and has thrown Emily a curveball at the same time……
Will they meet and rekindle their romance?
Will the same force that parted them previously succeed again?
Where does the sex trafficking feature?
Nope, not telling. Go one click and find out…………………….
The niggle that bugged me was the FBI storyline, at times it felt superfluous, not really a thriller, not really a suspense, almost not really needed – as a romance it’s a good one but this plotline distracted (and not in a good way) without adding to the storyline. But that’s just my niggle and it’s a small one.
Author Quote:
Beautifully Insightful has a message behind it, like most of my books do. I once read something that helped my inspiration behind this book, and it was this: we were all humans until race disconnected us, religion separated us, politics divided us and wealth classified us.
Although this story is fiction there is one thing that is hauntingly real, and that is sex trafficking.
Every thirty seconds someone is abducted into the human trafficking industry.
That’s a scary statistic, one every thirty seconds, and it tends to be a taboo subject. People do not want to face that in this day and age selling of humans for sex exists especially when children are involved. This awful practise is a part of the BI story and, while it does not have gratuitous violence, it’s a subject some will not be comfortable with.
K.C Lynn creates a beautiful balance of emotions – fear, humour, love, affection, desire, disappointment, grief, trust and embarrassment plus a host of others never overdone. She’s a class act all the way and the whole wealth, politics, looks, define us argument is played out beautifully with Emily and Ryder.
Worth a read? Bloody hell Yes.
Her best? Not gonna answer that. I’m off to shag Sawyer so I’m biased!!!

Excerpt #1
‘This isn’t a fairytale,’ Dornan said wryly, as he watched her bring the soup-soaked bread to her mouth.
She paused with the bread in her hand, looking around the room in mock surprise. ‘You mean, we’re not Beauty and the fucking Beast?’
He laughed.
‘Well, you’re certainly beautiful,’ he said.
‘And you’re definitely a beast,’ she countered, pushing her empty bowl away and resting back on the bed.
‘But there’s no happy ever after for you,’ Dornan added, his eyes trailing over the chains to reach the cuffs that were now permanent bracelets on her wrists.
‘No,’ she said evenly, matching his intense gaze. ‘Not for any of us. Not in this world.’
Excerpt #2
‘You do this a lot?’ I asked abruptly.
He took a step closer. I took a step back. It was timed so well, it was almost as if we were dancing some sort of macabre waltz.
He laughed when we moved in unison.
‘Depends,’ he replied, ‘on what this is.’
‘Pick up pretty girls for your daddy?’ I shot back.
Something passed over his face for a moment and settled in his eyes. Something hard. And then, I blinked, and it was gone again.
‘Sure,’ he said, and his voice had changed somehow. Become more reserved, more guarded. Damn. The only person who’d shown me the tiniest bit of normality, and I had just alienated him. As usual, I was running off at the mouth before I thought about what I was actually saying.
‘None as pretty as you, though,’ he added.
His eyes lit up at that as his gaze travelled across my chest and wandered down to the most private of places. I was clothed and covered in the right places, but in front of him, I felt completely naked. The feeling was unnerving and delicious all at once, which only confused me further.
So he’s sexy as hell. It doesn’t matter. He’s the enemy.
‘It doesn’t matter anyway,’ I added hastily. ‘I’ve got a nasty case of the clap. Better not rape me or your pico might fall off.’ I thrust my chin out as I used the Spanish term for ‘small dick’, smirking at the Gypsy Brother as his warm hands continued to roam every bit of bare flesh on my arms.
Dornan laughed at my admission, a throaty noise full of gravel and insolence that made me increasingly unsteady on my feet.
‘I’m not going to rape you,’ he replied, amusement dancing in his dark eyes. ‘And you don’t have the clap. So don’t use that one on me.’
Excerpt #4
Girls who were traded in this world never lasted long before it destroyed them, and the Gypsy Brothers had the blackest touch of all.
She blinked her huge eyes, and tears fell from them, running down her cheeks and hitting his hand. He lifted his hand off her lips and brushed more tears from her cheeks with his fingers.
Dornan wanted to tell her she shouldn’t cry. That crying implied weakness. But, as the saltwater leaving her body burned on his hand, he said nothing. Because the minute he left the room, he was going to press his tongue to every one of her tears that had fallen onto his skin and taste how sweet they were himself.

BLP REVIEW
Rebecca
Cartel feels like a guilty pleasure. A seriously fucked up, hide it from the world pleasure.
I shouldn’t like it.
I know I shouldn’t like it.
The majority of the men are assholes. The women are treated as property or commodities for sale or trade. The whole story is so far from what’s considered a sane, normal existence it’s not even funny, plus with more than a smattering of rape, torture and death (not necessarily in that order) it’s raw, rough, savage and harsh.
So why the hell did I like it?
I have no fucking clue. But I did.
I devoured it… Cartel felt like a novella I read it that fast yet it’s 336 pages of angst and heartache. Having only read one other book of the Gypsy Brothers so far (because I detest instalments and prefer the whole book) I came into this new spin off series relatively blind, and with little knowledge of Dornan Ross, therefore I turned each page with an almost innocent naiveté waiting for the fairytale to begin but instead Ms St Germain wove a depraved tale with no rainbows, unicorns or glitter, just a cruel world with cruel greedy men who have no compassion, no honour and, you would believe, no soul. Mariana is nothing but a pawn played on the chessboard, she ends up in the hands of the Gypsy Brothers where the VP (Dornan) takes an interest in her as he feels a connection and attraction. The relationship (and I use the term loosely) that follows is like a train wreck that you can’t turn away from. You know it will end in disaster, you know there will be casualties and possible fatalities, you know it will hurt to watch but you cannot turn away. I turned every single page in a state of total disbelief that Mariana could feel these emotions for a man who has and would continue to do evil and heinous acts or that they could develop any type of relationship given the circumstances that threw them together and who his father is. The whole pack of cards is built on blood and pain, nothing about them together makes any sense yet they are like magnets drawn to each other, unable to resist. It’s so dysfunctional and wrong, fascinating and captivating, fucked up and sad.
I was so involved I nearly threw my kindle when I reached the end and I’m looking forward to Kingpin. Is my perspective different than the readers who know the outcome of the Gypsy Brothers books? Probably, but this is a good standalone and leaves you wanting more of both the story and the author – having said that, I will finish these stories before I return to Seven Brothers and complete those.

Excerpt
Cavanaugh tossed all the gear he had bought into the open back of the battered Jeep Wrangler he had purchased from a local at a very steep price. He didn’t care about how it looked as long as it survived the run up to the end of the dirt track where their trek through the forest would begin, and back again. He walked around to the driver’s side of the black vehicle, opened the door and pulled himself up onto the seat.
Eloise looked across at him and he handed her the plastic bag with the gear he had bought for her in it. She took it and peered into the bag. It wasn’t much, just a lightweight dark grey fleece and a pair of beige trekking trousers, but it managed to get a smile out of her. He couldn’t wait to see her face when she saw the pair of boots he had placed into the back of the vehicle. He hadn’t failed to notice hers were on their last legs.
He turned on the engine, clicked his seatbelt into place and pulled out onto the quiet road.
The drive was long, taking several hours just to reach the end of the paved road where it gave way to little more than a mud track. The scenery was stunning though, on display all around him in the open top Jeep, and Eloise seemed intent on taking it in, avoiding looking at him.
He stared ahead of him, towards the distant snow-capped mountains that protected their village, his mind running back over everything that Eloise had told him.
Cavanaugh flexed his fingers around the steering wheel and glared at the mountains, part of him itching to reach them and Stellan. The male was going to pay for the things he had done, and for the disgusting things he had planned too. Cavanaugh had tried to shed the sense of responsibility he felt for the pride, but as the oldest son of his father, he’d had it beaten into him since birth.
When Eloise had announced her intention to leave with or without him, she had known what she was doing. She had made it impossible for him to do anything other than go with her. He hadn’t been able to let her return alone, knowing what awaited her. He hadn’t been able to delay her either, knowing what would happen to his kin if he did.
He had spent the entirety of the two plane journeys, including the dangerous landing into Paro airport, thinking about what she was asking him to do and planning it all out. He had no interest in being the alpha. The one thing he had craved in his life wasn’t power or standing. It was her. She was the only thing that mattered to him.
This journey was his chance to convince her that she was his mate.
His plan was simple. He intended to let the remaining days pass somehow so he entered the village as a free man. He would straighten everything out with Eloise, do right by his kin as their strongest male by eliminating Stellan, and then he would go back to Underworld.
Hopefully with her.
It sounded simple anyway. He had a feeling that it was going to be anything but that.
It was late afternoon by the time they reached the end of the mud track. Cavanaugh parked the vehicle on the side of the road, turned off the engine and stepped out. Eloise opened the passenger side door and stepped down onto the mud, muttering something to herself. He rounded the back of the vehicle, pulled out the cardboard box that contained the trekking boots he had bought for her, and held it out to her. She eyed it with surprise and then smiled when she opened it.
“You can’t trek through the forest in those,” he said with a smile in the direction of her old boots and she nodded.
“Thank you.” She toed off her boots one by one and he somehow found the strength to turn his back to give her some privacy as she changed into her new clothes.
Cavanaugh busied himself with putting everything he had purchased into their backpacks. He had ensured they had everything they needed, from a canteen to climbing ropes and harnesses, to a GPS. He had even purchased protein bars. As much as he hated them, they were a necessity. They couldn’t hunt during the trek and both of them needed to keep their strength up.
Eloise rounded the back of the vehicle and took the pack he handed her, slipping it onto her shoulders. She tugged the straps to get it comfortable while he put on his own larger pack. He pocketed the keys to the vehicle and set off, following the narrow path that led from the end of the dirt road down into the forest.
They had walked for almost half a mile before Cavanaugh gave in to the constant unsettling feeling in his gut and stepped to one side on the track to allow Eloise past him. He didn’t like her walking behind him where he couldn’t keep an eye on her and make sure that she was safe. She looked at him, slowing her approach and he jerked his chin to his left, silently telling her to take the lead. His gaze raked over her as she walked past him, taking in every inch of her.
She looked better now, less haunted and had more colour, but she still barely resembled the woman he had left five years ago.
He had insisted on feeding her up, despite her protests, ensuring she’d had a good breakfast at Underworld before taking a nap there. At the airport in London, he had managed to get her to eat a large dinner with him, and then a further meal when they had reached New Delhi. He had even convinced her to sleep on the planes. She had surprised him by sleeping through the landing in Paro and he had been loath to wake her when they’d had to disembark. How long had it been since she had gotten some good sleep?
She still looked as if she needed about a week of it.
Maybe offering her a sightseeing trip around London had been the wrong approach when he had been attempting to stall her. He should have offered her his bed for a week of uninterrupted sleep.
Cavanaugh followed her through the forest, his gaze locked on her, taking in her curves beneath her dark grey fleece and her beige trousers. The more he studied her, the fiercer he burned with a need to step up behind her, place his hands on her hips, and draw her back against him. He wanted to hold her, and feel her in his arms, back with him again.
Safe with him.
Safe.
That single word sent his mind down darker paths. The thought that Stellan might have already hurt her, might be responsible for the scarring on her wrists, drove him mad with a need to track the bastard down and beat him into a bloody pulp. But Stellan wasn’t the only one to blame. No matter how much he wanted to pin it all on the other male, most of the blame for what Eloise had been through rested on his own shoulders.
Terrible things had happened to her because he had left the pride. The mistakes he had made had resulted in her being hurt. It sat in his stomach like a lead weight, dragging him down. He wanted to ask her again what had happened to her, but he feared he wouldn’t be strong enough to hear her answer.
He wanted to apologise to her, but he wasn’t sure what to say. Nothing he said could erase what she had been through. He had to try though.
“Eloise,” he started and faltered when she looked back at him, her honey-coloured eyes bright in the evening light and wide with curiosity. He scrubbed the back of his neck with his left hand and his courage failed him. “Nothing.”
A frown flickered on her brow and she looked as if she might question him, and then she turned away from him again, giving him a view of her backside that proved to be just the distraction he needed from his dark thoughts.
She began up an incline and banked left, following a trail that tracked the river to her right.
Cavanaugh looked up through the trees, checking the light level. It had taken most of the day to find a vehicle, purchase all the equipment they needed, and drive the seven hours up the track. In just over an hour, it would be dark. They would have to stop and make camp. Near to the river would be the best place to set up the small tent he had purchased and start a fire, but also the most dangerous. Countless predators made the forest their home, big cats among them, and many of them hunted along the water where their prey would come to drink.
He could smell them in the area. Tigers. Leopards. Even clouded leopards. None of them would take well to him and Eloise being in their territory. The tigers were the biggest threat. They had been known to take human prey in the past, when times had been tough for them, and had spread their territory far and wide, even up to altitude in places, clashing with the territory of the snow leopards.
The trail ended two miles deeper into the forest, at a large pool that glittered at the base of a short waterfall. This was as far as the locals went, coming here to try their luck fishing. He had met a few once, years ago, on his way down from the mountain. They hadn’t seemed surprised to see someone coming from a direction where nature prevailed and no humans ventured. He suspected that the legends the locals believed in were based on his pride and those legends were woven deep into their traditions and religion. They had known what he was, but they respected him and his kind.
Eloise distracted him from his memories by clambering up the enormous boulders that formed a wall ahead of him. He stared at her backside, cupped tightly in her trekking trousers. He might have purchased a size smaller than he should have, but he had known she wouldn’t dare complain about how tight and revealing they were. It was the first time he felt that being an alpha was a perk, not a punishment.
She leaped to another boulder and scaled the next one with ease.
Snow leopard shifters were agile climbers in both of their forms, and he had always loved climbing with her, scaling the dangerous mountains that surrounded the village in the hidden valley high above this forest. There were ledges on the mountains that offered the most incredible and breathtaking views across the Himalayas.
Her boot slipped and he was behind her in a single leap, his hands pressed against her backside to stop her from falling. She gasped and turned wide honey-coloured eyes on him, a blush climbing her cheeks before she recovered and stole her body from his grasp, ruining the moment. She hauled herself back towards the rocks and up them, away from his hands.
Hands that ached to touch her again, to explore every inch of her at his leisure, together with his lips.

BLP REVIEW ~ TRACY
One of the biggest reasons I read #PNR is to escape. Yeah, I get that the stories could still involve family problems, broken hearts, oppression and other issues that we can happen across on a daily basis but when they are wrapped up with well put together characters, new worlds and excitement, you tend to forget that the world around you exists – even if it’s just for an hour or 3…..
With the Eternal Mates series, Felicity Heaton has created a vast new paranormal world, full of many different species that are as interesting and engaging as they are unusual!
Craved by an Alpha is the story of Cavanaugh and Eloise. This shifter pair have been friends for a long time – but haven’t seen each other for nearly five years.
Due to a difference in status – stupid pride politics… – it’s unclear how much further, if at all, their relationship went before Cav was forced into a role he didn’t ask for and then finally left the pride, and Eloise, to escape a title that he never wanted.
Eloise turns up out of the blue needing him – but is it for herself or the good of the pride? While Cavanaugh has been in kind of self-imposed exile in Underworld, Eloise has been trapped back in the jungle of Bhutan under the rule of a cruel and vicious ‘would be’ alpha who seems hell bent on breaking and destroying any and all in the pride who don’t bend to his will…
Due to the events in the years since they last saw each other Eloise is not the same strong and determined woman that Cavanaugh remembers and if anything, she seems even further away from him than she did when there was actual miles between them, but given that he is a Alpha male, and after all he’s done to be in a position to claim his girl, our boy is determined not to let her go again – the question is, will he succeed!
I loved the story mainly because of the history between Cavanaugh and Eloise. The love and desire was still strong between them and was at times almost palpable throughout the book. Unfortunately, regardless of how much they both wanted more, due to a lack of communication, old misconceptions and misunderstanding, this pair never once let on just what they meant to each other!!!
Craved by an Alpha is a novella in a series that so far has been novels but this didn’t take away from the pairs story. It may well have been obvious how things would turn out but you know what, not every character needs to go through heartbreak, devastation and despair to get to their happy place. That said, there was plenty of hurt and loss, action, adventure and heat all packed in to a short read.
It might not be the most popular tale in the Eternal Mates books so far and I may be in the minority when it comes to this lovely litle novella but it’s probably my favourite of the books to date. Another great read from Felicity and easily a recommended standalone even though it’s part of a series!
Grab yourself a copy of Craved by an Alpha and lose yourself in Felicity’s fantastic paranormal world!!!

BLP REVIEW ~ REBECCA
Last year I read Owned: An Alpha Anthology which had nine fabulous snippets or novellas from some authors I knew of and some I discovered and wanted more of, Chelle Bliss being one. ‘Resisting’ was Izzy & James and I liked it – strong, sassy, take no shit woman and an alpha male ready, willing and able to take her, the banter between them plus a hot connection full of emotion was enjoyable.
My next foray into Ms Bliss’s writing was ‘The Gallos: The Beginning’ and I loved it. It’s nice to see an author not afraid to show older characters having *gasp* sex! Just because you’re parents, just because you’re in your fifties doesn’t mean everything is withered up and dead, that you lose the urge or that the scene can’t be just as hot as the ones written for the kids. Seeing the Gallos interacting in normal family situations with banter, wit and sarcasm, the different family dynamics and personalities makes a good introduction to this series. Then we come to City and Suzy, he grew on me although I didn’t always like his attitude to women, Throttle Me (#1) was a solid 4 star.
As Chelle Bliss is new to me I still have a couple more to catch up on but I seized the opportunity to read Uncover Me (#4). Unfortunately I didn’t connect with Thomas and Roxy, there was a lack of depth and rapport between them which meant I failed to become invested – with more emotional growth I might have had the feels but, as a couple, it felt very tepid compared with the sexy hotness this author can create, and that extra special connection the previous books showed so well when a Gallo man finds his One didn’t show through.
This is the darkest of the series so far. Thomas Gallo is an undercover cop who is living a dangerous lie in the name of justice. The job and double life is taking its toll on him, he’s lost and adrift in both worlds; missing his family and wishing the MC could be brought down so his role in the investigation is finished. I found him a little cold, a touch arrogant in the pretend persona and this transferred to his real one as the lines blurred having been undercover so long.
When we first meet Roxy she’s a stripper. I can see how an Alpha Gallo would not step up and help her so she didn’t need to as he is undercover but when the club is busted and his role is over, I struggled with Thomas and his attitude towards her – perhaps that’s partly why I found it difficult to connect. I realise love will have its struggles, I realise the story must wend its way, but it goes against my impression of the Gallos in all the other books and what I liked with them. The conflict at the end stretched the realism factor hugely as I don’t believe the family or law enforcement officers, no matter what branch, would do that but other readers may feel different.
I didn’t dislike the book because The Gallos, when together, you cannot help but love. There is a lot of sibling and parental input (not always wanted but since when did that stop them!).
Roxy has flashes of strength and, under the mentoring of the Gallo sisterhood will, I’m sure, find her feet. As a series this is the ok but not a great one. Everyone when reading a series has their favourite and the one that just doesn’t quite do it for them, this is that one for me.
Will I continue to read? Yes. Because Chelle Bliss writes an engaging family – who knows, she may change my mind on Thomas and Roxy…………..

“You gotta let go now, Princess. I gotta hand you over.”
Her panicked gaze meets mine. “He’ll shoot you.”
“No, he won’t.”
“Yes, he will.”
I smile down at her. “What are we just gonna stand here forever, you in my arms, your dad holding a gun to my head? If he shoots me, he shoots me. Ain’t nothing I can do about that, Princess. At least I’ll know I did one thing right.”
She takes a deep, shaky breath. “I’d be dead if it weren’t for you.”
I nod, because it’s true. If Slayer hadn’t come at a deal, Prez would’ve eventually killed her, and he’d have tortured her some more first. “Promise me somethin’?”
“What?”
“Get on your feet and then get the hell outta here. Prez will come looking for you again. He’s not a guy who likes to lose. Take as much money as you can, and get the fuck away from this life, otherwise you’re gonna wind up filling a body bag way too young.”
Lauren is wrenched away from me then. She screams as the Italian carts her off toward the clubhouse, flailing and slapping at him despite her injuries.
“Daniel!” she screams, reaching out toward me as he struggles to get her inside. Without thinking I take a step forward, but I’m attacked from behind. My knees go out from under me and I’m shoved face-first into the ground. Some heavy motherfucker sits down on my back. I buck, trying to unseat him, but I’m whacked in the back of the head until I stop.
“Well, isn’t that fuckin’ touching? The Angel scum, in love with my daughter? Didn’t I warn you away from her once before?” Slayer asks, circling me like a predator circles prey. The biker using me for a chair shoves his gun against the back of my skull.
“Yeah, I did,” Slayer continues, and he motions for the guy on top of me to force me to stand. I’m dragged up by the hair and presented to Slayer. “At the rally, where she fuckin’ went missin’!” His red, blotchy face almost touches mine. He’s so close I can see the blood vessels snaking out from the corners of his eyes. He’s fucking high. His daughter’s been locked up, raped, beaten, treated like a fuckin’ animal over some shit that she shouldn’t even have to know about, and the arsehole’s gettin’ high as a fuckin’ kite instead of findin’ her? He makes me sick. He’s everything I hate about the life. And he’s more than likely exactly where I’ll end up, because this is what we are—this is what livin’ in the club gets you: bitterness, enemies, and a shit-tonne of bad blood.
Excerpt #2:
I pick up a cup of cold, stale, black coffee and chug it down. It tastes like shit, so I screw the cap off of a bottle of Jack and chase the black filth with the burn of amber. I set it back on the table while the familiar click of my gun being cocked echoes through my small room. I laugh. Fucking ballsy bitches make me hot.
“Hands in the air, and turn around. Slowly,” the woman says through a scratchy throat. I do as she asks, mostly because I want to keep my spine intact, but also partly because bitches with guns are fucking hot, and I’m hard as a rock just thinking about the way she’s gonna look with a pistol trained on me.
She’s been busy while I was out, rummaging through my drawers and finding a pair of loose tracksuit pants. They’re rolled at the waist, so much that it makes her look pregnant. That, combined with her crazy fuckin’ cat lady hair and the filth covering her body, makes her look like a homeless person.
I smile and clasp my hands behind my head. Her eyes rove over me, taking in my size. She’s checking me for the arsenal I so obviously have stashed away in my fucking worn, faded jeans. She’s not checking me out and dreaming about me taking her rough and hard on my fucking scratched-up dining table, but I still get a fucking boner out of having her eyes roam all over me.
“Pick up the keys, and open the door,” she commands.
“If you run, they’ll shoot you.”
“Pick up the fucking keys.”
I snatch up the keys and lob them at her, hard enough that she has to twist out of the way. She cries out as she does, proving to me that her ribs are definitely injured, maybe even cracked. I lunge at her. Shoving her back against the bed, I land on top of her, warding off her blows with one hand and squeezing her wrist with the other until she drops the gun on the floor.
“Get off me!” she screams.
“You’re not leaving this clubhouse,” I whisper in her ear as she struggles beneath me. “The best you can hope for is to play nice and I might decide to keep you as a house mouse. But if you piss me off, and if you pull on me with my own gun again, your life will be so much worse. You thought the dentist was fucked up? Baby, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve lived inside my fantasies for a day. So if I were you, I’d be really fuckin’ careful about how you play your next move.”
Excerpt #3:
I take a deep shuddering breath, close my eyes and stretch my hand towards him. His touch is gentle this time, far more gentle than I’d ever thought someone with so much uncontained violence to him could be.
“Spread your fingers,” he commands. I do, and he lifts the roll of tape, presses the edge to my skin and begins winding it over my knuckles. I close my eyes. The strident sound of it stretching out from the roll makes me want to flee. It makes me want to run as far from his touch—from any man’s touch—as I can possibly get.
The feel of the tape against my flesh, binding, holding, is so much worse. I tug on my hand, but he won’t let go. My heartrate skyrockets, and sweat beads erupt over my brow and upper lip. I’m in that room again, struggling, screaming, trying to fight them off, and failing.
Biker knows it, too. His dark eyes challenge, they dare me to run, but they also implore me to stay. It’s ironic that the only thing keeping me here, keeping me grounded, is the man who abducted me.
He holds my gaze. I don’t know exactly what is hidden in his dark blue one, but it suffocates the panic within me, douses it like water flooding flames. He bends his head to my hand. Taking the paper tape in his mouth, he rips it with his teeth.
I still. I soften. His gaze doesn’t leave mine, not even once. Not even when he starts in on my wrist, gently biting through each piece of tape before pressing it down with his rough hands. I’m mesmerised by his mouth, the piercing, and the soft, full lips. The light catches a silver chain around his neck, something I’ve never noticed before—but then I try not to make a habit of staring too closely at him. Not now, though. Now I watch every twitch, every blink, every intake of breath, and every inch that is swallowed up by his mouth moving closer to my flesh.
Blurb
When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.
A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.
A band of brothers, where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.
When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.
I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.
My name is Daniel Johnson. I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.
And I’ll betray her too.

Warning: Kick contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations of a taboo nature. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.
This is the Author Warning;
Kick is not for the faint of heart. It’s not a hot romp through a magical world of sweet bikers, soft leather, hooker heels and cupcakes, and we are definitely NOT in Sugartown anymore, Toto.
Kick is brutal, it is graphic, and it is probably going to make you question my sanity-to be honest, I’ve been doing that for a while now, so don’t feel bad. There will be situations that will be hard for you to read; they were hard to write. Some of them gutted me.
So, not intended for pussies – yeah I can handle that.
Not for the faint of heart – whatever!
Brutal, graphic, situations that will be hard to read – get on with it woman…………………………
And then Carmen Jenner proceeded to blow my fucking mind with the most uncomfortable and yet satisfying read.
It is everything she warns about, brutal, horrifyingly graphic, dark, nasty, ugly and raw with a visceral punch that is devastating. As a woman it’s a harsh, scary reminder of the monsters men can be, so why read it? Because it’s a story of beauty and strength, ugliness and sin, revenge and redemption so seamlessly written it’s flawless and captivating, even given the fucked up content matter.
When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.

This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.
The only way to read this one is to go in blind so this a no spoilers review telling you very little because I want you to feel every single gasp, every single OMFG she didn’t and every single twist, turn, lie and loss. These were a few of my favourite quotes;
“She’ll come to realise quickly that the fucked up ones gravitate towards each other like magnets. Darkness doesn’t seek out the light. It smothers the light, and it revels in the light’s death. And there is nothing more dangerous than darkness that doesn’t have an outlet.”
“I am a monster. Not because I’m a product of my environment, or because I like to hurt women. I am a monster because I choose to embrace my darkness—I revel in it and nurture it like it’s a newborn. I feed it regularly from the suffering of others, because that’s what I do: I make those I love suffer. I betray everyone who ever wrongly put their trust in me. And at the end of the day, this girl will be no different. Because that’s my special power; that’s the one thing I’m truly good at—betrayal.” – Kick
“I stare down the darkness and feel the hatred, hurt, and betrayal in the room around me, and I can’t help but think this is exactly where I belong. Here, in this dark room of horrors. This feeling, this warehouse, this is my heart’s home, because the atmosphere in here is every bit as fucked up as the emptiness inside of me.” – Kick
“She stares at me through her tears and then scampers on her hands and knees into my lap. I stroke her hair and marvel that this is the second naked broken chick I’ve comforted in my lap today. I’m beginning to feel like the fucking psychotic woman whisperer.” – Kick
Make no mistake the warnings are not a joke, no punches are pulled, it’s a balls to the wall tale of broken souls of both sexes. Some make it, some don`t. Love and survival, beauty and pain. It sure as fuck isn’t Sugartown, you will love or hate it but I guarantee it will be on your mind long after you finish.
Standing Ovation to Carmen Motherfucking Jenner. One hell of a book Sweets, Congratulations.

Tracy
I have to start by admitting that going into this book I was a Carmen Jenner virgin (my blog PIC has told me on numerous occasion that I have to read the Sugartown books.. well, after reading Kick, I finally get why she kept on at me !!)
The blurb for this book intrigued me and I have to admit that the fact that it was a darker read was one of the things that caught my attention.
The ‘warning’ is correct… KICK is not for the faint of heart. So if you are put off by graphic, horrific and disturbing scenes this is probably not gonna be your cuppa tea….. but for all that the things that go on in the story are indeed hard to take, they are so well written that I found myself reading them without once thinking about putting the book down as I have found myself considering in the past with books as descriptive as this was.
Kick, ah Kick. He’s totally fecked up – my favourite kind of hero/antihero (not quite sure what to call him tbh!). With a hell of a past, a loser for a dad, loss suffered, betrayal and a fair bit of self loathing all mixed up together, the fella sees himself as a monster and I really felt for him (yeah, he’s a criminal and he’s done a ton of shit that is beyond most peoples comprehension, but jeez, I still really liked him)
Kayla, our female lead is a normal gal, until the events that take her, beat the crap out of her and turn her world to all kinds of hell …. After everything she went through, that she was still standing showed the strength she had and the battle didn’t stop there!
Kick, I think, saw in Kayla a chance to redeem himself… Maybe that’s too strong a word or expectation, but he had, in his mind as I saw it, an opportunity to do something right where he had failed so miserably before.
Though the book contains some seriously dark, heavy, hard hitting and disturbing scenes & scenarios, there’s a fair amount of laugh out loud moments sprinkled throughout the read.
Kick is the master at sarky comments and conversations between him & K or him and his MC brethern are entertaining at times.
Carmen writes a fantastic story that sucks you in and demands your attention all the way through. Between flashbacks that give you an idea of how Kick came to be the way he was and scenes of violence and devastation (that I must admit once or twice had me willing and cheering on a character or two) KICK literally kicks you in the gut and leaves you wondering WTF just happened!!!
There were some interesting supporting characters that I hope we find out more about in future books in the series. All in all one helluva read and I can’t wait for more from Carmen Jenner and the Savage Saints (sounds like a band doesn’t it?!?! 😉 )
This was a no-brainer 5* read for me and I’d definitely recommend giving Kick a try.

Blurb:
Poet and Amy’s story…
Patrick Gallagher’s future was mapped out—and it didn’t include Amy Henderson or the IRA.
She was everything he’d never wanted. Too young. Too naïve.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t help but be fascinated by the girl who took refuge in his old bedroom, staying with his mum more often than not.
She looked like a Renaissance painting and argued like a solicitor. He couldn’t resist her, and before long, he didn’t even want to.
Instead, he loved her unreservedly… then he married her.
But he couldn’t have prepared for what happened after.
Actions, no matter how large or how small, have consequences—and when the IRA comes knocking, he’s sucked into a life that he’d never anticipated.
Choices were made.
Hearts were broken.
Trust was shattered.
Lives were lost.
Through it all, he loved her.
It was a love that spanned decades.
Epic.
Intense.
Unquestionable.
Unbreakable.
Nicole Jacquelyn bio:
Nicole Jacquelyn is the mom of two little girls and a full time college student. She hasn’t watched television in well over a year, she still does things that drive her mother crazy, and she loves to read. At eight years old, when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she told people she wanted to be a mom. When she was twelve her answer changed- to author. By the time she was eighteen, when people asked her what she wanted to do with her life, she told them she really wanted to be a writer- but the odds of that happening were so slim that she’d get her business degree “just to be safe”. Her dreams stayed constant. First she became a mom, then she went to college, and during her senior year- with one daughter in first grade and the other in preschool, she sat down and wrote a story.

BLP REVIEW ~ TRACY
OMFG……….. get your tissues ready.
This book bloody broke me – in the BEST way!!!
I have to say that my overall thoughts for Craving Resurrection are I LOVE IT… Jeez, I thought Craving Absolution, Farrah and Casper’s story, was a heart shredder and then I read this – I was destroyed, a red nosed, watery eyed, jibbering mess by the end…. and I LOVED IT!!!
It’s not often you come across a book that leave an indelible mark on you, or maybe that’s just me…. I had been (not so patiently) waiting for Craving Resurrection and it was more than worth the wait.
I loved (yep, you’re gonna get sick of that word right here!!) Poet and Amy’s story.
Amy was awesome. She had a pretty shitty upbringing and as an adult even shittier cards that were dealt her way, but she’s a fighter and regardless of what hit her she kept going. I had the feels for her so hard – at some points I felt like I was there, in the middle of the chaos with her and my heart and head hurt like hell.
Patrick…. Aahhh Trick, I loved him ’til I hated himm then I detested him and then, finally, finally he did something kinda right and I fell for him again!! Charming but bloody thoughtless, make your blood boil git that he is!!
We had met Poet way back in book #1 and he’s been pretty constant in the series, but we knew so very little about him. Talk about secrets, lies and skeletons in cupboards……
Christ, the book was such a rollercoaster of a ride that I could barely keep my emotions in check from one chapter to the next!
For half the time I was so fuckin’ annoyed at Patrick and hated what he’s done, how he’d acted and how oblivious to everything he seemed to be and the other half I was mentally shouting at Amy, “talk, tell him, for the love of the gods, open your mouth and speak woman”!!!…….. Hard headed, thick skulled bastards deserved each other – but that small point aside, were they really meant to be??
As with Craving Absolution, a lot of this book happens in the past. Getting the story of Poet and how he came to be an Ace. Finding out the answers to things hinted at in previous books and seeing where his future lies, it’s a wonderfully complete wee package!
We meet some of the MC in earlier times as well as in the present and we are introduced to some new characters.
Peg, I loved her (quite probably harder than Rose and I didn’t think that could be possible) She was a terrific character – but given were she’s from that was a given (then again, I’m biased!!)
Kevin….Yeah, got a lot of thoughts about him but nothing that I can say here and now!! You’ll get what mean when you read the book!
Robbie…. hell, still don’t really know how I feel about him!!
I hate that Nicole made me hurt so bad, but even though she took my heart, carved it up and left it looked like chopped liver, I’d happily go through it all again… She had me thinking about the book for days after I finished reading it. I couldn’t stop crying any time I thought about Amy & Patrick and I was unable to get over this story by starting to read another book, hell I was unable to THINK about reading another book for a while after Craving Resurrection…
Nicole has this outstanding gift and great ability when it come to writing – such an amazing way with words, of painting a picture and telling a story that feels real!!!! Through the series her talent has blossomed and grown and I can’t wait to see how she progresses further as an author going forward!!
THIS Book….. This one does it for me!!! It’s my fave book of the year so far, completely, totally and oh hell…. just bloody thinking about it – I’m gonna feckin cry again!!!!!!
Read it…. if you haven’t checked out the rest of The Aces books, grab them now and get stuck in, you’ll love them!!

language, lickable rock stars and a whole lotta a** kicking female leads. Strictly 18+.
BLP REVIEW ~ Rebecca
I enjoy this author’s writing style, full of profanity and descriptive sex but never feels superfluous or overdone however I did not connect with any of the couples in the three novellas as much as with Blair and West in Unexpected, despite looking forward to Sasha’s story in particular. The novella is a difficult one to get the right balance with and it all felt too short and a little rushed. I needed more, a complete, detailed story not a fast & furious quickie but a longer discovery session.
Undeniable
Joe Fox is a floater. He’s a coaster on the coffee table of life.
He rides the wave spread by the juggernaut of rock ‘n’ roll outfit, Affliction, claiming what he wants and sticking to his limits. On the outside he is the calm inside the hurricane. Underneath the surface he’s struggling against his own brewing category five.
When Affliction goes on a long awaited hiatus, he finds himself alone in more ways than one. What’s a man to do when he’s got plenty to forget and all the time in the world to do it in?
Crash into someone beautiful and wild, that’s what.
Someone so wild that they might be able to calm the storm within and awaken something undeniable…
Joe and Jake are best friends who grew up together. With Jake having found Blair, Joe wants that same elusive thing, the connection that completes you. Joe has more privacy and freedom than Blair as he’s not the front man and so when flying back to Australia takes a normal flight with no fuss or fanfare where he meets Alexis. Both are instantly attracted and so follows a delightfully dirty and decadent tryst for 24 hours on an unplanned stopover in Hong Kong. Alexis is an author who writes erotic romance and she researched plenty with Joe, discovering it’s not all imagination but that her words can be reality.
“He reached out and grasped my face, making me look him in the eye and it almost sent me into overdrive. Yeah, I felt it. My nipples tingled, my pussy was convulsing, thighs were clenching, breath was coming fast…all the things I wrote about were leaping off the pages and into the here and now. “I want you and I know you want me, too. It’s not about being cheap or easy.” “You want me?” “Every which way from Sunday.” He’d hardly touched me and shit, he hadn’t even kissed me, and already I was imagining myself underneath him, on top of him…every which way from Sunday.”
Joe lets her walk away at the airport with no contact details and regrets it immediately. He decides he will find her when fate throws her back in his path, however Alexis is dealing with guilt and grief so has closed herself off to relationships due to a tragic event.
“Jake had his wildcat and I had my storm. She was the storm swirling in the opposite direction to mine. Together, we cancelled each other out. Together, there was no storm. I just had to get her to see it.”
This couple complement each other perfectly and Joe fights for what he wants. I loved their banter and the sex was HOT but I was thoroughly enjoying the story and then Wham Bam finished, rushed and nowhere near as good as the lead up.
However, I love her writing style as I’ve said and highlighted sections all through the book.
“It was like a drawer full of spoons when all I needed was a knife. Alexis was the f**king knife…”
“Fuck. He thought my mouth was sweet? I just stared at him like Bambi in the middle of a highway about to be splattered by a long haul truck.”
Unbearable
Sasha Montgomery has everything she ever wanted.
She’s managing one of the hottest rock bands of the moment, gets paid to travel the world, hangs around hot musicians all day…
She’s got everything she ever dreamed of…except Mick Savage.
Mick is the lead guitarist from bad boy rock ‘n’ roll outfit Affliction, and she’s got one hell of a crush on him.
For three and a half years Sasha has watched him look at everyone but her. Miserable and shy, the only thing she has to turn to is her work. It was fine when she was just the stage manager – she could deal with that. Now she’s the manager and has to deal with him on a daily basis. Face-to-face. As if her heart couldn’t get any more broken.
Mick hasn’t looked at her twice. He hasn’t spoken to her outside of band business. He hasn’t seen her as anything but Affliction’s manager. Watching him from the side-lines is unbearable, but when he finally realises what her feelings are…everything is going to change.
And it might just be for the worse.
This was my most anticipated of the three yet the one I least liked in the end. Sasha is fabulous but Mick is a prick (yeah I know I’m rhyming!) and needs to be shot. I really dislike the fact he hasn’t noticed her in three and a half years, that’s on me and personal preference but I’d like to think if he’s the one he would feel some type of connection or attraction not that she was invisible. Some will argue that she says;
“To live my dream, I had to sacrifice my heart.”
So that makes it all ok, but it didn’t work for me.
Sasha is feisty and sassy so she’s a good match for him but by the time he does finally does SEE her she runs from him and the chase begins. He gets the girl and the HEA but I was not connected to him as a character, although I adored Sasha.
Unstoppable
Rob Hancock was never the saviour type.
When he saves Lilly Hunter from a nasty situation, he’s about to get more than he bargained for. Now he’s her saviour and will do whatever it takes to make her safe.
And when push comes to shove, he’ll be Unstoppable in his desire to deliver her from her demons.
He’s been such a background figure up to now that I was surprised how much I liked Rob and just how perfect Lilly is for him. Whilst they meet in an awful situation, they are drawn immediately to each other and this was a beautiful one to end the series with. Lilly and Rob have a rocky road and while Rob may not see himself as her saviour he is, but in return Lilly feeds his heart and soul. She cares for him and loves him warts and all, he’s broken and she’s his glue, giving him a sense of worth and belonging. A sweet story with really hot sex and an edge to it that Amity Cross does well.
“I’d never had a friend before, the kind of friend that listened and didn’t judge. The kind of friend that you see in movies and read about in books…I thought those were all made up. There couldn’t be people like that in the world, right? Humanity sucked dick, so why would someone be nice to me just because they thought I was decent? That shit was an urban myth.”
So in conclusion my only complaint apart from ‘Mick the Prick’ is the length of these. I felt a longer story, especially on the first two, would make them as good as Unexpected but it’s a good series and I like the author so will continue to read her.

As they fight to survive the people and dangers of an unknown land, they slowly begin to unravel its mysteries to find that they hold the key to saving this world…this Arcania.
The question that remains for each of them is: Who do you become when the you that you always were is no longer?
Excerpt
“Don’t. Make. A. Sound.”
The low, gravelly voice reverberated through her as she felt a tear escape the corner of her eye. The arm that was banded across her chest was full-on
muscle as it easily held her in place against a body that was as impenetrable as a brick wall.
Naeve didn’t move a muscle, but she lowered her eyes the best she could and saw a black leather glove that went halfway up that thick forearm. As the hand
on her right shoulder tightened, she grimaced and felt the tip of the knife press against her throat.
“Where is your other sister?”
Naeve remained silent, not sure she could even remember how to speak, and then she felt those fingers grip her shoulder harder as they spun her around and
pulled her up close.
The sight that greeted her was like something from her worst nightmare.
She couldn’t have imagined ever feeling the terror she felt right then. For that reason alone, she’d never known that her response would be to become one
hundred percent paralyzed.
As she stared up at the towering figure before her, she had to wonder if maybe she was already dead and he’d been sent to collect her. Cloaked from head to
toe in nothing but black, he almost blended into the shadows except for the shiny blade he had pointed at her throat. She couldn’t make out a face behind
the hood and mask, but all she continued to hope was that, if he planned to kill her, he’d do it fast.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy
About Ella Frank
I am first and foremost a proud Australian, but currently reside in Texas with my husband.
I love to read and write contemporary and erotic romances, but I also like to step outside of the box at times when it comes to telling a story that really speaks to me.
I absolutely adore dessert. I could skip the main meal and head straight to the dessert line every time…especially anything that is covered in caramel.
I am a GLEEK (yes I admit it… So? It makes me happy), on the other hand I love Dexter and he makes me happy too, so analyze that!
I love to sing really bad at the top of my lungs, and I often have conversations with myself.
Some of my favorite authors include; JR Ward, Tiffany Reisz, Nalini Singh, Lori Foster, Lauren Dane, SJ Frost and many more.
Last but certainly not least, I am the author of The Exquisite Series, Blind Obsession and most recently Try.

Excerpt
Kyter grinned when he finally found the building he had been searching for. He walked into the larger building, immediately breathing a sigh of sweet relief as cooler air greeted him. It was dark inside with the fading light, but the modern roof over the series of rooms was raised around a foot off the structure, creating an opening through which a modest amount of light could enter. He used his heightened vision to navigate the rooms, seeking the one he had read about.
He found it in the largest room. Half of it was divided into three square rooms by two thick walls. The section to the right had been walled in again, but the parts in the middle and to the left were open. The central part was the reason he had come to this place.
Two columns covered in white and red plaster stood at the end of the walls that enclosed what appeared to be a sort of ancient chapel. The floor in the area there was raised up two steps and the three walls had been painted. Directly ahead of him, in the back wall, there was an arch, and blue and white panels decorated the plaster. There was a small stone plinth in the centre of the arch, as if something sacred or important had once been placed there.
It was the wall to his left that held his attention. The plaster had been decorated with white and grey columns and arches painted on a red background. In the central area of the wall, someone had painted a picture on a white square surrounded by mottled blue and red.
Ancient goddesses and a god.
The answer to the clue the demon had given to him.
The hairs on the back of Kyter’s neck prickled and he turned swiftly to face the person behind him.
The female from the fae town stood in the middle of the dusty empty room, a short black blade balanced on her left shoulder and her green eyes filled with a spark of curiosity as she studied him from head to toe.
Slowly.
He shifted his feet into a more solid stance and debated whether he could reach for his backpack and retrieve his knife before she could attack him.
She canted her head towards her blade. “What are you doing here? The site is closed.”
Kyter slowly shrugged out of his backpack and let it fall at his heels.
She dropped her eyes to it and then lifted them back to his face, her green gaze piercing his. “I know you understand English. I heard you muttering to yourself outside where I was working.”
She had better hearing than he had anticipated, and he clearly had less control over his mouth than he had believed. He hadn’t even realised he had muttered to himself after catching a glimpse of the sweat rolling down between her breasts.
His gaze betrayed him and dropped to her chest. A darker V had formed on the black camisole there, luring his eyes to that spot. He forced them to drop lower, taking in the rest of her, allowing his gaze to do a slow leisurely dance over her dangerous curves.
You don’t look like an archaeologist.” He dragged his eyes back up to her face, pretending not to notice that the temperature in the room had just risen by around fifty degrees. Or maybe it was just his blood. “So… same question back at you. What are you doing here when the site is closed?”
She smiled and raked her gaze over him again, setting his blood on fire. She had to stop doing that. Whenever her eyes did a slow once over of his body, his instincts roared to the fore and he wanted to stalk towards her, grab the back of her neck and drag her against him to show her just how hard the body she was eyeing was beneath all his clothes.
“I asked first.” She lowered the blade to her side.
Kyter stepped back, over his pack, pretending he was doing it to keep his distance from her weapon. He hadn’t zipped the front pocket completely closed when he had taken the guidebook out. His knife was in there. He probably had a fifty percent chance of reaching it before she reached him. He had a better chance if he shifted. It might catch her off guard, giving him extra seconds in which to complete his transformation and take her down.
But he couldn’t shift yet.
Tradition said he had to wait a period of a month before he could shift and give in to his need to grieve in his jaguar form.
“What are you doing here?” Her tone gained a sharp edge, one that matched her blade. It seemed the mysterious female didn’t have much in the way of patience.
He raised his hand and waggled the guidebook he held in it. “I was admiring the fresco.”
She looked beyond him and then back at him. “It was more beautiful before.”
“Before?” He frowned and edged his feet further apart, shuffling back half a step at the same time so he could come down straight on top of the pack when he went for his knife.
“Before Vesuvius erupted,” she said flatly. “It was more beautiful. The whole town was.”
Kyter was unsure whether to believe she was saying what he thought she was.
She had been here, before the volcano had erupted.
He wanted to laugh at that. He had to have heard her wrong, or misinterpreted what she had said. Maybe something had happened to the fresco since they had uncovered it years ago or she was talking theoretically. Yeah. That was it. She was being theoretical. Of course the whole town had been more beautiful before it had been covered in ash and buried for centuries.
He couldn’t quite convince himself to believe that and his instincts said not to let this chance to get some information out of her slip through his hands. He had a golden opportunity to find out whether she was implying that she was a few millennia old. It would certainly narrow down her potential species to a number he could probably count on his hands and toes.
“I’m no scholar, but didn’t Vesuvius erupt like a couple of thousand years ago?”
She smiled and it hit him hard in the chest. “It did. In seventy-nine AD in fact. Thankfully, I was not here at the time. It was a shame what happened. It was a truly beautiful place.”
Kyter stared at her. Gawped if he was feeling honest about it. She was over two thousand years old. What the hell was she? She didn’t look a day over thirty.
Sorceress? He couldn’t scent any magic on her, but maybe she had cast a spell on him the moment he had set eyes on her. He certainly felt as if she had.
Siren? She didn’t strike him as one of that kind, although she did seem to have a hold over him, a magnetic pull that he found difficult to resist, one he felt might spell his doom.
Angel? She was beautiful enough to be something as ethereal as one of that kind.
Her green eyes narrowed as her black eyebrows dipped low above them.
All of the light left her expression, leaving it as cold as stone. “I will not ask you again. Why are you really here? I sensed you in the fae town.”
Busted. He had thought he had been subtle when tracking her. The only explanation he could come up with was one based on what she had said. Sensed. She had sensed, not seen him. He had been staring at her a lot that night, his focus locked with intent on her. He had stared at her in the same way when she had appeared before him tonight. She must have put two and two together. Clever little kitty.
Kyter adopted a crooked smile, one that normally worked like a charm on the ladies. “You got me. I’m looking for something.”
Her fine eyebrows rose. “That is strange. So am I.”
She swiftly pointed her blade at him, her eyes narrowed again and her rosy lips compressed into a dangerously thin line.
“Stay out of my way. I will not allow you to interfere in my business.”
Kyter growled low in his throat. “This is more than business to me.”
He had been right. She was a goddamned mercenary. A treasure hunter looking for a score.
She didn’t waver as he stared her down, no longer hiding his anger, aiming all of it at her.
Her blade remained steady. Not even the point shifted.
The jaguar side of him appreciated her grace and strength, and he wanted to growl at her for a whole different reason as he raked his eyes over her, recalling how she had moved through the crowd in the fae town. An agile and beautiful female.
The tip of her blade dipped.
His gaze darted to hers and he caught the brief flash of colour on her cheeks. It seemed the little kitty wasn’t as unflappable as he had thought. He could affect her.
Kyter stepped over his backpack, narrowing the distance between them. She stepped back to keep it steady.
“Give up your quest,” she said, her tone steady even though her heartbeat had just picked up in his ears. “I will not tolerate interference in my business. Leave.”
He lifted his shoulders and her gaze briefly dipped to them before leaping back to his.
“You don’t own the place, or whatever it is you’re after, so you can’t tell me what to do. How about you stay out of my business? I won’t tolerate your interference. This is my territory now.”
Her eyes widened a fraction before narrowing on him again. “You will regret your actions.”
Kyter looked back over his shoulder at the fresco. He had a feeling he was in the right place and that was why she wanted him away from it. She knew something he didn’t though. It was there in her eyes. If she knew the city, then she had the advantage. He needed that advantage.
She wasn’t impenetrable. He could affect her.
He had made her blush.
He wasn’t above playing on that to get what he wanted from her.

BLP Review ~ Tracy
It’s no secret that I’m a great big #parawhore and my all time favourite species is the shifter – I’m not fussy about what animal they are, as long as they are shifters (though I have to admit that hot and sexy is a preference!!!) – so, you can imagine my delight when I read that the hero in Hunted by a Jaguar was a great big sexy shifter!!!
The Eternal Mates series is fab. Felicity has created a fascinating world where elves, shifters, witches, demons, dragons, humans et al exist & interact (ok, sometimes those interactions are battles but hey ho!!). The stories are action packed and there is a thread that runs through the series that connects all of the stories, though they could be read as standalones.
Hunted by a Jaguar is Kyter and Iolanthe’s story. We met the shifter barman earlier in the series and from that you just knew that he’d be an interesting character. Kyter is strong, fierce, determined and in the human world he is his is own man who comes across as very confidant… BUT given that this is one of Felicity’s heroes, he’s also got secrets and a past that has broken him…. Poor K, for a large part of the story I wanted to give him a hug he was so vulnerable and unsure of himself at times!!! (granted, it would have been a naked hug, in a huge big bed somewhere quiet… oh don’t judge, YOU know what I mean!!)
Iolanthe is a kick arse heroine and man, does she ever kick Kyter’s arse – as well as a few others!!!
We don’t know much about her for a fair part of the story but there’s a few hints as to who and what she is… I really liked her – she takes crap from no-one, is bloody minded, focused on her mission (well, she was until she met Kyter!!) and she had a good heart – not forgetting that she’s hot – just what our big bad Jaguar needed!!
As with the rest of the books in the series, the plot was fast paced and exciting with a few twists and surprises that had my heart racing at points. The heat and attraction between K & I was visible from the start and when this pair got it together, jeez they were smokin’ hot!!!
This is the 4th book in the EM series and personally it’s my favourite – can you believe that someone bumped Vail from top spot?!??!. Hunted by a Jaguar is a fantastic read and Felicity has got another success on her hands!
I’d thoroughly recommend you jump into the paranormal world of the Eternal Mates, it’s a helluva journey!!
* I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review*
