RELEASE BLITZ – Heavy Petting (Boys of the Bayou Gone Wild #2) by Erin Nicholas

Friends becoming lovers should be the easiest thing in the world. Right?

Heavy Petting, an all-new sexy and sweet romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Erin Nicholas is available now!

He’s her best friend.
A reformed bad boy turned hot teacher.
And after one spur-of-the-moment Vegas wedding… her husband.

Jordan Benoit and Fletcher Landry have been best friends since they were six. He’s always been The Guy. When she needed picked up, cheered up, or lifted up–like literally, to see the stage at a concert–Fletcher was the guy.

So when her boyfriend dumps her–on national TV–Fletcher immediately gets on a plane and comes to her rescue.

And when she ends up in a Vegas wedding chapel and needs someone to say, “I do”…yep, Fletcher’s the guy. Of course.

But being The Guy 24/7 is a lot. He just wants everyone to give him a freaking minute to get this marriage thing right. Including his sexy, sweet new wife who he’s wanted for three years. Who is exasperatingly, temptingly all-in from minute one.

Jordan knows what she wants. A life in her hometown. A job with alpacas. And Fletcher. Not necessarily in that order.

They’ve said the vows. They’d told the world. They’ve told their grandmas. Forget taking things slow. Forget just heavy petting. Forget any chance of backing out when things get tough. They’re going to have to go all the way, in every way.

After all, friends becoming lovers should be the easiest thing in the world. Right?

Blurb:

My life has always been pretty predictable. Run into burning buildings, save those in distress, be a hero. Shoot the shit with my fireman buddies, come home, and do it all again tomorrow. Little did I know that a random SOS call from a woman stuck in a plaster cast with nothing underneath (I swear I only caught a flash of skin) would throw me for a complete loop.

Until I see the flighty artist again. At my mom’s engagement party. To her dad.

Suddenly the unpredictable woman I couldn’t stop thinking about is my soon-to-be-stepsister. Yeah, the same one I mortified when I accidentally saw her a tiny bit naked. This should make family gatherings way more interesting.

Except when your mom’s as loaded as mine is, you can never fully let your guard down when a guy comes sniffing around. So I can’t help but be suspicious, even though his daughter’s the perfect blend of beautiful and wild. As we spend more time together, prepping for our parents’ wedding, we both agree that maybe there’s nothing wrong with having a little bit of fun in the meantime. But if she knew I was investigating her dad on the side, she would never forgive me…

Excerpt:

“Mind if I use your restroom before we dive into planning?” He asked once he closed the dishwasher back up.

She quickly adverted his gaze, hoping he hadn’t caught her shamefully staring at his backside. “Of course, it’s down the hall on the left.”

Tamsen grabbed the notebook with the few ideas she’d started to write down for the party and sat at the table going over the notes she’d made. After a few minutes, she glanced up and checked the clock on the stove. Parker had been in the bathroom a while. She hoped she didn’t mix up some ingredient in the casserole and give him stomach problems. She didn’t have as many cooking disasters stories as she did art project stories, but there had been a few. The salt instead of sugar incident of 2013, last year’s baking soda disaster cupcake fail, and the expired milk episode on her father’s sixtieth birthday. That one still haunted her.

Wanting to check and make sure everything was okay—at this rate she would need to change her name and move to some remote island to avoid further embarrassing herself in front of this man—Tamsen hurried down the hall to check on Parker.

But he wasn’t in the bathroom.

The only bathroom in the apartment was empty, the light off. As she made her way down the hall, she was surprised to see Parker standing in the doorway of her room staring intently at the sketches and easel set up in the corner by the large window. It got the best light in the apartment, so it’s where she did most of her drawing and painting.

She cleared her throat loudly, gaining some satisfaction form the small jump in the corded muscles of Parker’s back. He turned with a sheepish grin.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to snoop.”

She raised one eyebrow.

“Okay, I did. I saw a light on and…” he waved an arm, encompassing her art. “Tamsen, these are amazing.”

Her cheeks heated, warmth and pride filling her at his compliment. “Thank you.”

“I’m not an art aficionado, but these are…powerful.” He stared at the drawings again. “I don’t know if that makes sense, it’s just the word that pops into my head as I look at them.”

“Whatever emotion you feel is the goal,” she answered, coming to stand beside him. “That’s the beauty of art. It’s interpretive. The artist may create one thing, but it truly comes to life in the observed. Whatever it makes you feel, it’s right.”

“Are these all for that human body project you were talking about?”

“Some of them.”

They were all sketches of the human body. Some drawn from life, some from pictures, others she created in her head.

“Life drawing is one of the first things they teach you in art school, but I’ve always been drawn to the complexity of the human form. How different we all are. How similar. The curves and angles, big and small. Each body catering to the soul inside it. I love capturing that soul on paper. Every subject brings new insight. I…I’d love to draw you sometime.”

She sucked in a sharp breath. Her mouth had started to ramble again. Running away without her brain. Why had she said that? Yes, she did want to draw Parker, but that didn’t mean she had to tell him about it. She certainly wasn’t going to tell him about all the naughty dreams she’d been having involving him or the sketches she’d already drawn of him…

The heat of his body enveloped her as he moved in closer. She felt the brush of his lips against her ear. A shiver of pleasure running up her spine as his warm breath tickled the hairs on the back of her neck as he spoke.

“You want to draw me? How about in the buff? That can be arranged.”

Sometimes when out at a restaurant or the park, I’d see a couple smiling at one another. Not speaking or laughing, but just solely connected to one another from the eyes and lips. They didn’t feel you watching because they were seeing only each other. These smiles were private moments happening in public, and you almost felt like a voyeur watching it. On the few occasions I’d witnessed that kind of smile, I’d felt odd, physically. A pain my chest, a shortness of breath, a sting in the eye. At this moment, smiling at Max, I knew what those physical symptoms represented: jealousy. Because I’d never experienced one of those shared smiles that spoke of pure enjoyment and appreciation and connection and all that sappy bullshit.

Until now.

COVER RE-REVEAL ~ Hot Heir by Pippa Grant

Title: Hot Heir
Author: Pippa Grant
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Cover Design: Lori Jackson
Photo: Wander Aguiar
Release Date: August 31, 2018
BLURB
If I’d known he had dimples, I never would’ve agreed to marry him.
Some people are born for parenthood.
Not me.
But I’m about to get it anyway, since there’s no one else who can take care of my wild child baby sister. I’m supposed to be spending my days running a flight adventure company with my best friend, but instead, I’m inadvertently getting myself into trouble, just trying to do the right thing and keep her out of trouble, to the point that it’s clear I cannot do this on my own.
But who else would want to help us?
Turns out, my biggest enemy.
Mr. Tall, Dark, and Cranky just inherited a country, but in order for Amoria to crown him as King—you know, that job they give to people with no more demanding qualifications than flared nostrils, proper manners, and a taste for crumpets—he needs a wife. Now. Obviously the only person he would ask is as irresistible (and desperate) as me.
And I see no better way to prove I’m ready to take care of my sister than to wear the crown of a queen. No one’s ever found fault with royalty, and hey, the job comes with round-the-clock security.
Except in return for helping save my sister, Mr. I’m-Not-Sure-You’re-Even-A-Real-Prince Viktor tells me he needs the teeniest, tiniest favor. You see, he doesn’t just need help saving his crown. He needs help saving his country.
Remember when I said no one ever found fault with royalty? Try asking that question after you see your frazzled face under the front-page headline of a small country’s leading gossip mag…

Hot Heir is a romping fun marriage of convenience romance between a surprise heir and a southern hot mess, complete with the bedroom to end all bedrooms, a run-down alpaca, and that thing with the hot air balloon. This romantic comedy stands alone with no cheating or cliffhangers and ends with a royally awesome happily ever after.

EXCERPT
Taking a bullet or a knife, I can do.
But soothing a terrified, sobbing, otherwise competent woman is not something I’ve often—ever—accomplished successfully, nor have I ever found myself in many situations in which it was necessary.
I stroke her back, and gradually, they both cry themselves out.
Which is good, because seeing a chink in Peach’s armor is bloody terrifying.
“Papaya,” she says, her voice thick and wobbly, “you’re on kitchen duty for the next four weeks.”
“What?”
“And if you get fired by the chef, you’ll be on maid duty. And if you get fired by the maids, you’ll be shoveling shit in the stables. And you don’t get to see Fred until your chores are done.”
I suck in a surprised breath.
Papaya gasps. “You can’t do that.”
“And if you don’t show up for kitchen duty, you won’t be going to Joey’s wedding next weekend.” She swipes at her eyes, which silences any objections I might have to keeping track of Papaya whilst Peach is away for a week. “You scared the ever-loving patootles out of me. I thought you were kidnapped. And instead, you’re here, spooking the daylights out of these poor guards who were trained on an invalid king who couldn’t even get out of his own bed to pee.”
Ah. I’m beginning to see from whom Papaya gets her creativity.
And it hasn’t escaped my notice that Peach is still leaning on me.
My knees are going quite numb from squatting, but I could crouch here for hours if that was what was required to make her feel better.
“You have two choices.” Her voice is growing steadier, more Peach-like. “You do your punishment, and we’ll find you a better outlet for all your creative energy, or we’re going to have one hell of a rough year.”
Papaya scowls. Her tears have also left her. “I don’t like those choices.”
“They’re what you’ve got.”
“I want to go home and live with my daddy.”
Peach’s entire body goes so rigid, I have to stop myself from grabbing Papaya and dangling her by the ankle for being such an ungrateful arse.
“He lost the privilege to keep you.” Peach’s voice wobbles again. “Meemaw and me and Viktor and Alexander and Samuel are what you’ve got.”
An emotion I cannot name blooms in my chest, swells into my throat, and renders me momentarily tongue-tied.
She’s just claimed us all as family.
“Get up. I want that armor shined and sparkling before it goes back where it belongs in the tower study, and don’t you dare give me any lip, or you’ll be shining and sparkling every single suit of armor in this whole entire castle if you so much as think at me wrong.”
I swallow hard, wishing my own voice were not so much more husky than I intend it to be. It seems emotions are going around. “I believe there are fifty more stored in the dungeons, my lady.”
My shirt is damp and cold where the tears from Peach’s cheek have soaked through, I’ve nearly watched a teenage girl outwit and terrify an entire team of guards who were quite ready to maim, if not outright kill her, and I’m playing parent for the first time in my life.
Being a team.
With Peach.
It’s disconcerting at best.
Irresistibly attractive at worst.
I’ve a kingdom to run. There’s no time to fall for my wife.
But I fear it might be too late.

“So,” I said after a few minutes of silence where we each sipped our coffee and ate what was in front of us, “are you vacationing near here?”

Jasper tilted his head, and a smile curled the edges of his mouth. “You could say that. I’m staying with my dad.”

I blinked at him. “And your dad is renting a house near here?”

He laughed. Laughed! “Uh, no. He owns it.”

I blinked at him again. “Oh. Did he move here recently?”

Jasper tilted his head and I caught what looked like surprise widening his eyes slightly. “Do you know who I am?”

I considered his question for a few moments, knowing that if he was asking me that then he was probably someone that was well known around here.

But I was drawing a blank.

Besides my friendship with Ruby and Vicky, I didn’t get out in town too much. I knew people, of course, because of going to events, working in the library, and being drug out to different festivals.

But I wouldn’t consider anyone that I met in that way to be a friend.

“You’re Jasper?” I finally said, not sure what else I should say. My tone was definitely questioning.

He gave one sharp, quick laugh before shaking his head. “I’m Jasper Sutton.”

I stared at him after his declaration. “I’m Charlie Drake.”

If he was going to introduce himself like that, then I could too.

His eyes narrowed. “No, I’m Jasper Sutton.”

I wasn’t sure why he was putting emphasis on his name, but I was also realizing that his name did sound familiar. I just wasn’t sure why.

“Okay…” I said slowly. “Nice to meet you.”

Silence stretched between us before he asked, “You know, the name on the sign coming into town?”

I studied him as I tried to recall the sign. I passed it every day, but I was to the point of not even noticing it anymore.

But I remembered what he was referring to. The Welcome to Spring Hills sign also had a part that said Home of Jasper Sutton on it.

My brow furrowed. “Were you named after someone famous?”

He said nothing for a few moments before he started laughing. Hard.

I shifted in my seat as he laughed, watching as he rubbed a hand over his face and hunched over the table. I wasn’t too sure why he was laughing; I just knew it was at me.

I glanced around the cafe and saw that people were staring at him laughing and grew even more uncomfortable.

Jasper slowly stopped laughing and shook his head, wheezing. “Are you for real?”

“About what?” I asked, though I wasn’t too sure I wanted to know what he was asking. At this point, I wasn’t sure I wanted to be on this date or whatever it was for too much longer.

“You really don’t know who I am?”

I shook my head.

He blinked at me before saying, “I’m Jasper Sutton. The name on the sign is mine. It was put there when I got drafted.”

The drafted statement made me pause, but I couldn’t dwell on it too long because he kept talking.

“You’ve been to the Tasty Freeze? Ever seen the Jasper on the menu? It’s the milkshake they named after me because it’s my favorite. What about the Burger Barn? The Jasper there is my favorite meal.”

I stared at him. I probably shouldn’t have said what I said next, but my mind was short circuiting because all I could think of was the fact that he said he’d been drafted. Drafted for what?

“I thought Jasper Sutton was some old guy that had died in a war sometime.”

Meet the Author

Let’s see…where to begin…

I’m inching up on the BIG 4-0. The gray hairs are doubling what seems like daily, and the wrinkles and laugh lines are more pronounced than ever.

I have an amazing husband (Married just over 15 years.)

We have two boys we’re doing our best to raise as respectful gentleman.

I have a master’s degree in criminal justice which I used to work as a juvenile probation office until deciding to write full-time in June of 2019. So that means there’s usually always some criminal/law element to my novels.

If I’m not writing; I’m reading.

My favorite genres recently are bully/reverse harem and enemies to lovers. Maybe I’m reliving my traumatic teen years through the girls who actually end up with the boys. (Not that I would change my history since it’s gotten me exactly where I need to be!)

I love coffee. I miss carbs. Music is LIFE. I try not to be too serious.

RELEASE BLITZ – The Gravedigger’s Son (Charley Davidson novella ~ 1,001 Dark Nights) by Darynda Jones

The Gravedigger’s Son, an all new 1,001 Dark Nights novella in the Charley Davidson series from New York Times bestselling author Darynda Jones, is available now!

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Darynda Jones comes a new story in her Charley Davidson series…

The job should have been easy.

Get in. Assess the situation. Get out. But for veteran tracker Quentin Rutherford, things get sticky when the girl he’s loved since puberty shows up, conducting her own investigation into the strange occurrences of the small, New Mexico town. He knew it would be a risk coming back to the area, but he had no idea Amber Kowalski had become a bona fide PI, investigating things that go bump in the night. He shouldn’t be surprised, however. She can see through the dead as clearly as he can. The real question is, can she see through him?

But is anything that’s worth it ever easy?

To say that Amber is shocked to see her childhood crush would be the understatement of her fragile second life. One look at him tells her everything she needs to know. He’s changed. So drastically she barely recognizes him. He is savage now, a hardened—in all the right places—demon hunter, and she is simply the awkward, lovestruck girl he left behind.
But she doesn’t have time to dwell on the past. A supernatural entity has set up shop, and it’s up to them to stop it before it kills again.
While thousands of questions burn inside her, she has to put her concern over him, over what he’s become, aside for now. Because he’s about to learn one, undeniable fact: she’s changed, too.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

IRISH

Undercover for years, I learned one thing: be careful who you trust. Now, I need to know who’s killing our best operatives. Back on the ranch, I can uncover the secrets, while proving myself to everyone who doubts the truth. But Flynn Wheaton knows more, feels more, than meets the eye. She’s the first truth I’m going to conquer…

FLYNN

Pain hidden by kindness. He’s the perfect mystery, the rugged and inked man with secrets to unfold. He may be my brother’s partner, but I plan to know more, uncover it all. When my life is threatened, there’s only one thing I want to know, Will I finally get IRISHED?

Excerpt:

Of course I wished that Flynn and I could make love tonight. There wasn’t another woman in the world I wanted to be with, could be with, but neither of us were ready. We hardly knew each other. And yet, somewhere deep inside, it felt as though I’d known her forever.

“Just so you know, I won’t ask where you’re going.”

“If you did, I couldn’t tell you.”

“There’s another question I want to ask.”

“Go ahead.”

She shook her head. “Maybe later.”

“There are so many things I want to say to you.”

Flynn smiled. “Go ahead,” she repeated my words.

“Maybe later.”

“Paxon? Can you just hold me?”

I led her into the bedroom. “Is this okay with you?”

“It is.”

Flynn put her hand in mine and I led her over the bed. We both lay on it, facing each on in the same way we had last night on the floor in front of the fire place. I looked into her eyes, wishing I was better at putting the right words together to tell her how I felt.

“I want you to know how much these last few days, last hours in particular have meant to me.”

She pulled back and her brow furrowed, but I pulled her back close enough that I could kiss her.

“Paxon—”

“Shh.” I put my fingertips on her lips. “I’m not saying goodbye or telling you we can only be friends. I just really suck at this.”

She smiled. “Just say how you feel.”

Could I? If I did, would I sound insane?

“Just do it,” she whispered, brushing my lips with hers.

I rolled to my back and looked up at the ceiling. There were a hundred things I wanted to say, all at once, and yet I could get a single one out.

“I’m not sure how long I’ll be gone and when I return, I don’t know where I’ll be going next.” Did that even make sense?

“Where do you want to go?”

“I’d love to come back here—”

Flynn kissed me. Not just a lip brush, and actual kiss. When her tongue pushed into my mouth, I pushed back. I gathered her into my arms and rolled so her body rested on mine.

“Did I say the wrong thing?” I asked when she pulled back and rested her head on my chest.

“No. The exact right thing, actually.”

I laughed. “Which was?”

“That you’d love to come back here. And before you say ‘but,’ that’s why I kissed you. To stop you from saying it.”

“Flynn—”

This time she put her fingers on my lips. “Look, I know how your life works. I’ve seen it firsthand with my brother. I know I may not ever see you again, but for tonight, I want to pretend that I will.”

“It isn’t that I don’t want to.”

“I know, Paxon.”

“What I’m about to say will sound like the most selfish thing you’ve ever heard but, I went a very long time without comfort in my life. Today, when all I needed was that, you gave it to me. It was the most precious gift and I’ll never forget that.”

“I’m going to ask something of you.”

“Go ahead.”

“Comfort me now, Paxon.”

I drew her into my arms and ran my hands up and down her back. She raised her face and kissed me.

“I want more,” she whispered.

I didn’t need to ask what she meant. It was obvious by the way she moved against me. Her body responded instinctively but that didn’t mean either one of us were ready for more.

“Paxon?”

I put my hands on either side of her face and looked into her eyes. “As much as I want to feel your bare skin against mine, I don’t want to rush this. You mean something to me, Flynn. When the time is right, for both of us, there will be more.”

Her cheeks were bright red and she tried to look away.

“Flynn, please. I want to do the right thing.”

She wrapped her fingers around my wrist and brought my right hand to rest on her breast.

I shuddered feeling the pebbled nippleagainst my palm. My cock throbbed with want, but my mind had to prevail.

“Just this,” she whispered, unfastening the buttons on her blouse. “When you leave, I want to remember your touch. Give me that, Paxon.”

Author Bio:

Heather Slade gave herself the gift of writing a book for her own birthday one year. Thirty-plus books later (and counting), she’s hit a couple of best-seller lists and has had the time of her life. For Slade, the joy is in the writing, but nothing makes her happier than hearing from a reader who tells her that she’s made her laugh or cry or gasp or hold her breath or stay up all night because she can’t put one of her books down.

The women she writes are self-confident, strong, with wills of their own, and hearts as big as the Colorado sky. The men are sublimely sexy, seductive alphas who rise to the challenge of capturing the sweet soul of a woman whose heart they’ll hold in the palm of their hand forever. Add in a couple of neck-snapping twists and turns, a page-turning mystery, and a swoon-worthy HEA, and you’ll be holding one of Slade’s books in your hands.
