RELEASE DAY BLITZ PACKET – Wrong by LP Lovell & Stevie J. Cole

Title: Wrong
Authors: LP Lovell & Stevie J. Cole
 Release Date: June 2, 2015

Blurb

Tor

My life was everything I wanted it to be. It was mapped out and planned. I wanted it all, the career, the right husband, the white picket fence and kids. Until he was thrust into my world, ripping me from it. My carefully planned life shattered, proving to be nothing more than a cheap illusion, and now I’m living in this twisted form of hell, where enemies and friends are one and the same. I thought I wanted perfection. Now I don’t know what I want – perhaps not even my own freedom.

Jude

I define wrong. I thrive on the corrupted greed of others, on their trivial hope, and their false optimism. I am the bookie, and the bookie always wins. For those whose hopes far outweigh the depths of their pockets, well, let’s just say paying with your life is not just a figure of speech.

I have always been in control, until suddenly I’m not any more. The day one of my collectors dragged her into my office as payment on a debt, I should have killed them both right there, but I didn’t. Now she threatens my control, threatens everything I’ve built, and yet I still can’t kill her. Why can’t I kill her?

By the time I’m done with her, she may pray for death.

Everything is not always as it seems. Lust, blood, lies…Nothing this wrong should feel so right.

BLP REVIEW ~ REBECCA

The title and content mean that this phrase is going to be overused again and again in reviews because this one is just so Wrong its right, it’s the guilty pleasure you didn’t know you needed and 100% adrenaline rush from start to finish.

There are so many words that spring to mind to try to describe the feelings and emotions this dark story will wring from you, shredding your soul along the way. Twisted, raw, gritty, intense, violent, sexy, disturbing, heart breaking, crazy and graphic, Wrong packs a visceral punch that leaves you reeling thinking `What the fuck did I just read?`. It`s not easy reading by any stretch of the imagination and normally not my thing, the only reason I picked it up was a recent girl crush on L.P. Lovell after reading Hugo and loving it, she and Stevie J Cole are both new to me, both bloody good writers and this partnership is a strong if fucked up and twisted producing one!

Jude is one hot, sexy, ruthless motherfucker, the kind of bookie you would find in a Guy Richie film. Flawed, difficult but like a moth to a flame we can`t turn away. Circumstances made him the man that he is but while it’s a fucked up one he still has a moral code and as woman are his Achilles heel enemies use this against him.

Victoria is a doctor with a shining and good, unicorns, rainbows and glitter future in front of her when she is ripped from her world and thrust into Jude`s where a whole different set of rules apply. Tor`s inner strength is amazing and surprising, the things this girl goes through are harsh and difficult to read, the choices she makes when defeated and broken are heart breaking and a defining moment in her life and Jude`s. The chemistry and tension between Jude and Tor is scorching and when it explodes……………oh boy! Steamy hot sex, rough, raw and so good. Drunk Tor was hilarious and the banter between these two was delicious all the way though the book.

Wrong has it all, the Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the Crazy, the Fucked up and the Stupid. Very flawed, real, dark characters, a couple who shouldn`t make any kind of sense but do and a world of violent madness that is compelling reading. I was so invested in it that when I reached the end which is a huge cliffy I nearly threw my kindle at the wall! An absolutely fucking fabulous book that had me who doesn`t do dark reads captivated the whole ride. Totally deserving 5 *****

Stevie J. Cole

I love writing (obvious since I’m on here, right?) I don’t have a specific genre – I just write whatever story manifests itself inside my brain.

Writing is like therapy. There is nothing else that I can lose myself in the way I can a story. It amazes me that words can take you away from reality and leave you in a dazed state once you’ve finished.

Aside from writing, I love sloths and mythology. I kind of have a thing for vampires, because let’s face it, something about the fact that they fight the urge to bite your neck and drain the life from you is rather sexy. I have an irrational fear of the zombie apocalypse. I honestly cannot imagine a more horrifying way to go than by being ripped to shreds by a mass of mumbling, decaying, and oozing corpses with clicking teeth. Ugh! I just shuddered typing it.

Now the boring basics: I’m married with two wonderful children. I grew up in the south listening to a ton of grunge rock. Me and my sister have an obsession with going to concerts and getting front and center. We often fight over who can get the most swag from the band. I have an unhealthy obsession with Russell Brand’s mind, and the smell of crayons is the most soothing smell there is.

I hope if you read my work that you will enjoy it. After all, writing is the most amazing magic trick of all… it puts the reader in the mind of the writer (kind of creepy if you think about it). It’s scary inside my brain, watch out!I hope you love my little worlds as much as I do.Xx- Stevie J

Excerpt

On the short drive home, with Joe riding my bumper, I still have way too much time to think. And what I’m thinking is that I’ve gone and lost my mind. Who says shit like that? I behaved like some two-bit sex operator and sounded no better. If I didn’t need both hands on the steering wheel, I’d have my face covered right now; I’m that embarrassed. Emotional. Too fucking emotional. It’s either flat or deep with me and it’s exhausting. Why I have to be this emotionally unbalanced every time around Joe, I have no idea, but I’m sure the man’s had enough of crazy women for a lifetime.

When I park the car, I turn off the engine and drop my head on the wheel. Maybe this is not such a good idea. I probably should’ve stayed with Katie and the baby and not just gone running off with Joe at the first opportunity. Well, not exactly the first opportunity but still. It seems inappropriate. Doesn’t it?

The door beside me opening startles me, but even more so does the feel of Joe’s firm hands pulling me down from my seat.

“Don’t. Don’t sit there and talk yourself out of something we both know is going to happen,” he says talking to the top of my head because I am studying the tips of my toes.

“Naomi?” He leans in and I can feel the heat of his words penetrate my skin as he speaks. “I need you. I need to feel your fingers tangle in my hair, your tongue in my mouth, your skin under my hands and your pussy squeezing my cock. I need it all, honey.”

Slowly raising my eyes, I find his burning with lust and something more. Need? I trace my fingers over his lips and along his jaw before whispering, “Let’s go.”

 BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

Well hell….Freya’s gone and done it again!!!

I’ve loved the Cedar Tree books since I picked up Slim to None and this series had just gotten better and better as it’s progressed. Clean Lines is another fantastic read!!!

This is Joe and Naomi’s story. We were introduced to both characters in the earlier Cedar Tree books and knew that there was some kind of history between them and it was interesting to find out just what had happened in the past.

Naomi is a great character. A hard working, strong, independent lady who is a single mum of a teenage son, oh yeah, she also has a distinct lack of trust when it comes to the opposite sex… admittedly she’s got reason to feel as she does and Joe, silly bugger that he can be, doesn’t give her any more reason to trust him when they first try to get together…. talk about misunderstanding and lack of communication………

and so to Joe – he’s the local sheriff and and an all round good guy, who unfortunately has had a slight tendency to bugger things up when it comes to Naomi. The bloke hasn’t had the easiest of times when it comes to relationships – gods has he made some poor choices where women are concerned – but when it comes to Naomi, following 3 years of her pretty much ignoring and avoiding him, he’s hellbent on making things right between them following their earlier disaster!

The budding relationship was fab to follow – and as ever with Freya’s writing, it felt very natural, real, is heartwarming and so very hot, steamy and sexy!!

Aside from the development of things between our lead characters, we found out what happened to make Fox, Naomi’s son, return to live with her after being with his dad for a while ~ this plot-line was fast paced, full of suspense, drama and action.

Our well loved characters from the series were once again present and as entertaining and involved in the action as you’d expect!! We also met some new characters (one in particular I wanted to slap senseless every time she appeared!!) and got an idea of which couple we’re likely to read about next – oh, I can’t wait for more from the Cedar Tree gang!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…. one of the biggest draws for me when it comes to these books is how real Freya makes the characters feel, I could so imagine being friends with them.
They aren’t perfect, they make mistakes, have problems and issue that they need to deal with and overcome but, when it comes down to it, they are a real family who will do whatever it takes to help one of their own (yeah, it’s a family of choice not design but that’s what makes them all the more special)

Ok, I’m gonna stop here…

Each book could be read as a standalone but you’ll enjoy them so much more if you start at the beginning and read them as a series!
Do yourself a favour, if you haven’t read these books yet, go pick them up NOW!!!!   *****

They meet on a beach. . . . Abby Davis isn’t wearing a skimpy bikini or sipping umbrella drinks, not when she’s busy chasing around four little ones. And Matt McKinney isn’t looking for fun—he’s a Navy SEAL, a grown man with a long list of missions . . . and fallen brothers.

They only have a week. . . . Abby has brought her children to this beach to start over, to give them the enjoyable memories they deserve. Matt’s been sidelined by a combat injury, and haunted by the best friend he lost and the promise he made: to remain a SEAL—focused and dedicated. This leaves no time for what he’s always wanted: a family.

But a week is all it takes. . . . Matt opens her heart while Abby soothes his soul. And though they plan to say good-bye when the week is over, something magical happens on that beach, something neither can forget. Something utterly, completely worth falling for.

BLP REVIEW ~ Rebecca

I’m struggling as I write this review which is irritating because ‘Worth the Fall‘ was a 100% 5 star, loved it read and a totally unexpected pleasure – everything I’ve written doesn’t do it justice and, in a sea of choices for romance, I want it to stand out, to somehow express how sweet this story is.

Claudia Connor reminded me why I read romance, why I love a man in uniform and how when family, love, humour and romance is done well, just how invested and captivated I can be in a book and its characters. She’s a new author to me but one I will be investigating further (AKA Stalking!!!).

When I want that mix of romance, humour, hot and heart-warming my go to authors are Kristen Ashley, Rachel Gibson, Jennifer Crusie, Marie Harte, Susan Andersen and Jessica Prince. Claudia Connor was an unknown to me but her style is much like these favourites of mine. The cover is deceptive because this is not just your average military boy meets girl, hot and steamy commences then HEA, boom, done.
It’s a lovely, sweet tale that has grabbed you before you know it, the writing flows so easily. Matt and Abby you will root for, the children totally steal the show and whilst the couple have their issues and angst as the relationship progresses, I smiled through the whole book. Matt is all hot military alpha career man, Abby is a widow pregnant with her fifth child when they meet and it’s so refreshing to have a man happy and comfortable to take on kids. I love all the interactions between them, Annie, Jack, Gracie and Charlie will steal your heart as effortlessly as they steal Matt’s.

Before I read this I probably would have said sex with a pregnant woman would not be hot in a romance book, just goes to show how wrong I was because Oh Boy ** Fans Face ** !!!!!!!!!
This one, if you love this genre, has it all – humour, hot and steamy, romantic, heart-warming, emotional, sweet and captivating, I thoroughly enjoyed it and this was her debut book so I’m looking forward to reading ‘Worth the Risk‘ because this was a damn fine start to her career.

Beyond Innocence
Review

Blurb:

For years, Jared has existed on the fringes of both Eden society and Dallas O’Kane’s Sector Four gang. He travels between these worlds, protected by his money and power–money he earned selling his body, and power that comes from knowing secrets. He’s untouchable—until he starts a new life gathering intelligence for the O’Kanes.

Lili Fleming walked out of Sector Five with a gun, the bloodstained clothes on her back, and an icy determination to survive. She finds herself in a world where people live hard and love harder, and nothing’s more terrifying than how much the O’Kanes wake her up, make her feel—especially Jared.

Emotion is a risk he can’t afford, and a complication she doesn’t need. But neither can resist the lust simmering between them, and the sparks that could either melt the ice around both their hearts…or get them killed.

Because the only thing more dangerous than loving an O’Kane is loving a spy.

j&l2

EXCERPTS:

“So how long have you been spying for Dallas?”

Cruz’s casual words startled Jared enough to throw him off balance. He almost missed blocking the man’s next blow, and wood scraped over wood as their staffs collided.

Jared spun around and tried to recover his composure. As tactics went, this one was murderously lethal—throw out something shocking, as boldly as possible, then take advantage of your opponent’s distraction to strike your killing blow.

“You’re a good soldier,” he murmured, tightening his fingers around his weapon. The staff was solid red oak—deadly and perfectly balanced. “I bet you’re an even better interrogator.”

“Not really.” Cruz planted his staff on the floor and met Jared’s gaze squarely. “My psych evaluations were consistently disappointing. I’ve always been burdened with an overabundance of empathy. The Base has plenty of soldiers not operating with that particular handicap.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Wiping his face with his arm did fuck-all to clear Jared’s vision, because every inch of his bare skin was dripping with sweat. He could make it through a solid hour of forms, no problem, but sparring with Cruz was a far more intense workout. “What gave me away?”

“Nothing obvious.” Cruz shrugged one big shoulder. “I doubt anyone else will notice. But I know a lot of people inside Eden, so I hear the gossip. And I watch you.”

“Good to know.” He made a rush, swinging one end of his staff up toward Cruz’s unprotected side. Cruz pivoted smoothly, his block effortless, his movements lazy as he flipped into a counterattack that pushed Jared back.

His next words were just as casual, just as easy. “I haven’t talked to Dallas about it. I figured if he wanted me to know, he’d have told me. Unless something was stopping him.”

“Not letting it go? Fine.” Jared tossed his staff aside with a sigh, and it clattered to the floor. “Ace can’t find out. That needs to be a promise.”

Cruz hesitated only a moment before nodding. “The fewer who know, the safer you are. But I need to know. If something goes wrong, I’m the one most likely to be able to get you out.”

“Bren’s on it.”

“Bren doesn’t have my connections.”

“Really, now?” So, quiet Cruz was the one with the friends in high places. “I’m impressed.”

“I can’t use them for information, not the kind Dallas needs. But if you get in trouble…” Cruz’s expression stayed serious. “Don’t underestimate how far I’ll go to protect Ace’s heart.”

Not just a promise, but a warning. “You took the words right out of my mouth. Which is why you need to stay the fuck out of it.”

“I’m not going to trip you up at fancy parties—or your new club. But you need to check in with us regularly.” Cruz swept up Jared’s abandoned staff and tossed it to him. “And I need to make sure you can kill a man with whatever’s handy.”

“Your newest project, huh?”

“I don’t want to get too soft living in all that O’Kane luxury.”

It wasn’t the high living on Dallas’s compound that was bringing out all of Cruz’s latent protective instincts—and that was exactly what this was, no matter how he tried to spin it. No, it was all that time he’d spent curled up between Ace and Rachel.

Caring. Once you let go and let yourself do it, it got to be a habit.

Jared kept his mouth shut for a few minutes, focusing instead on the careful coordination of his breathing and his muscles and the weapon in his hands, all moving in concert. But the words spilled forth anyway.

“It’s not so different,” he panted. “In my bedroom, or in a bar. Half the time, all I do is wait for them to say things they already want to say.” That much he understood now—the compulsion born of secrecy, how silence was its own sort of prison. The relief that came with being able to tell someone, anyone, all those things you were supposed to keep locked up.

“People want to be heard.” Cruz wasn’t as breathless, but he wasn’t moving so smoothly now, either. He blocked Jared’s advance only inches from his ribs and broke away to regain space to maneuver. “The bar’s a good idea. Eden’s elite are getting bored and reckless.”

Bored was one of Jared’s longstanding clients tripling her number of monthly visits. Reckless was the time she brought two friends with her, both the wives of powerful, devout men. Of true believers.

Bored and reckless. Separately, they made people dangerous. But together? Bored and reckless had toppled empires.

***********************************************

He didn’t say anything, just watched her for so long that the intensity would have terrified her if being the focus of his attention wasn’t thrilling in a different way. Finally, he sighed. “I don’t know what to do with you, Lili Fleming.”

Her heart lurched, and the words that spilled out were reckless—the most unguarded of her life. “What do you want to do with me?”

Again, the hesitation. “There are ways I could help you,” he admitted, rubbing his thumb over the bowl of his glass. “Ordinarily, I would have already offered. But somehow it seems complicated now.”

She watched his thumb make another slow sweep and couldn’t not imagine it smoothing over her skin. That was what he was talking about—he had to be. Touching her. Showing her the things her body wanted, even as her mind shrank away.

“That’s not why—” Her voice cracked, and she took a long sip of wine and wished it was whiskey. “I’m not asking you for that. I don’t know if I—if I could…” God, she couldn’t even say it, her tongue tangling around the mildest of euphemisms.

“I know you’re not asking.” He shrugged. “I guess that’s what makes it complicated.”

Because trades were simple. They never left you vulnerable. And he hadn’t really answered her question—he was so deft that she hadn’t noticed. “What do you want to do?” she repeated softly.

Jared held her riveted, so completely that she barely noticed when he moved. She couldn’t look away, even when he took the glass from her hand. Even when he laid his hands on her face, his fingers curled around her neck to hold her, and lowered his mouth to hers.

She’d imagined kissing. Mouths touching, lips brushing.

She’d imagined wrong, because Jared’s tongue was the first thing she felt, hot and shocking, as if he knew it would make her gasp. Because when she did, he went deeper, his tongue finding hers.

It was too much. Too fast, too intoxicating. Her entire body throbbed along with her racing pulse, and her knees felt unsteady. She clutched for the only steady thing she could find, grasping his upper arms to keep from melting through the floor.

Then his hands tightened, tilting her head back, urging her mouth open. His tongue swept over hers again, rough and rasping, and every tiny shiver of sensation built into an ache that settled between her legs. Not just an ache, a need, and she whimpered into his mouth.

Jared broke the kiss with a shudder and smoothed his thumb over her tingling lower lip. “See?” he whispered. “Complicated.”

She closed her eyes and tried to catch her breath. “Not sure that helped,” she said, an attempt to turn it into a joke. It had to be, or fear and longing would crash together and vaporize her. “I’m feeling all sorts of things now.”

“It doesn’t have to stop.” His hands trembled on her face. “But that’s your choice to make.”

An impossible choice—need or fear, pleasure or peace. And all of it shrouded in mystery, because she couldn’t reconcile the O’Kanes’ wild glee with her mother’s whispered warnings to lie still so it would be over faster.

“I don’t know.” She forced herself to look at him, to meet his patient, waiting eyes. “I don’t know anything. How can I make a choice when I don’t understand what you’re offering?”

“You’re right.” He smiled again and brushed her hair back from her forehead with a careful, gentle touch. “It’s not exactly fair, is it?”

She was still clinging to him. Slowly, shyly, she eased her grip until she was touching, instead. His arms were solid, muscle flexing as she rubbed her thumb against his sleeve and wondered if he felt the same spark of sensation. “When I was on the drugs, everything seemed so clear. I thought they were all pretending. I didn’t believe in pleasure.”

“And now?”

Now it would be like not believing in water while she was standing outside in the rain. This wasn’t some gentle mist, either. She was caught up in a storm, and she’d seen what heavy rain could do to the desert. The clay couldn’t absorb the water, and the riverbeds couldn’t contain it.

She wasn’t made for pleasure. Too much would sweep her away. “Now I’m scared.”

***********************************************

Lili’s world was on fire.

It was wrong. Watching Rachel and Ace and Cruz, imagining doing more than watching, and now this, her dress pushed up to her hips and her fingers pressed between her own thighs. Everything about this was wrong, start to finish.

And it felt so, so right.

This was the source of the ache that consumed her every time Jared touched her. His touch had always been too much, illicit and skilled and intimidating. Her own touch was clumsy by comparison, but even that had her shaking in moments.

Something was simmering inside her, something that made every brush of her fingers—their fingers—more dangerous and more necessary.

Jared’s breath blew over her ear. “You know this is what she wants, right?” He stroked his thumb over her cheek, guiding her gaze back to Rachel. “She gets off on being watched. And watching, I think.”

It explained so much. The warmth in Rachel’s eyes, the subtle tension in the store. Maybe Rachel hadn’t wanted to push, but the willingness was there. To let Lili watch, to help her understand the O’Kanes and their reckless pleasure.

Lili even understood gets off now—it was the culmination of pleasure, the moment this ache inside her boiled over. The only question was how hot she had to get before it happened.

Rachel had one arm wrapped around Ace’s neck, her eyes drifting shut only to snap open again. She moved faster, her chest heaving, and she clutched at Cruz with her other hand, her fingers wound through his hair as he reached between her and Ace.

With a jolt, Lili realized what he was doing. Touching Rachel, the same way Jared was guiding her to touch herself. But not tentative and easy—even in faint light, the shifting pattern of his tattoos highlighted the flex of muscle. Rachel’s response was immediate, her body arching as if the pleasure was so intense, she might fly out of her skin.

Blood pounding in her ears, Lili shifted her fingers, pressing more firmly. Sensation jolted through her, and she barely dug her teeth into her lower lip in time to hold back a moan.

The sharp sound of a zipper broke through her haze. “Do you do this when you’re alone, Lili?”

Shaking her head, she sagged back in the booth. The vinyl was smooth and cool against all the skin bared by her dress, but her own nakedness was inconsequential. The table shielded Jared’s movements from everyone else in the room—

But not from her.

He had freed his erection from his tailored pants. It jutted up into his hand, long and thick and impossibly big. It looked rough and delicate all at once, veined and throbbing but also soft, and she watched as he ran his thumb around the flared head.

Hazy nights spent at O’Kane parties had left her with a patchwork of blurry memories, of body parts and the ways they touched and came together. But she’d never wanted to look before. Now she couldn’t look away. She watched his elegant fingers slide along his length, and felt an answer throb beneath her own fingertips, as if he was somehow touching her, too.

So wrong. And so good.

“Harder, sweetheart.” He obeyed his own words, tightening his hand until his erection—his cock—jumped in his grip.

Her body was buzzing. Her nipples were tight, sensitive to the rasp of her dress, but she couldn’t touch them without the whole room seeing. It was a game, the kind she’d always been so good at. Control her expression, project calm. Smile, like she wasn’t brazenly touching herself beneath the table.

The thrill of it twisted her up. She let her thighs ease wider, until her knee bumped Jared’s, knowing he’d be the only witness as she slipped her fingers beneath the thin fabric of her panties and sought out slickness and heat.

He froze and shook his head. “Take them off.”

“What?”

“You heard me, Miss Lili.” His voice was low, steady—and wrapped in unmistakable command. “Take off your fucking panties.”

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

Sector 4 and the Beyond world is one of my favourite places ever… so I couldn’t wait to journey back to read Jared and Lili’s story.
Beyond Innocence, from the start, was a wild ride and then some (in more ways than one!!!! lol)

Secrets, lies and lovers that spy!!! Who would have thought that our Sector gigolo would be a secret agent – but then again, who better to find out lots of dirty secrets through pillow talk I suppose!!

This time round, the story was played out less in the O’Kane compound and more in the Sector and in Eden. It was very interesting indeed to see just how some things worked in the supposed Utopia on the other side of the wall. For me, this gave the book a slightly different feel from some of the others, but in a good way.

Gods, the book was still packed full of heat, passion, desire, down & dirty filthy sex and risqué shenanigans – and some of the scenes were so hot I swear to the gods that my kindle was beginning to melt…..fuck, if these books get ANY hotter they are gonna have to come with a safety warning and a free fire blanket – but the atmosphere in this book was also ramped up by the action, adventure and suspense that currently surrounds the O’Kane world and the sectors in general.

I really loved Lili, she was a stronger character than I expected but then, to survive the life she did in S5, she would have to be fairly tough.
Jared was fabulous – I always thought he’d be such a confident, quietly arrogant guy but we saw another side to him too throughout their story.
This wasn’t one of those times where the main characters fought their attraction ~ they didn’t rush it but they didn’t try to ignore it either.
Innocence was like a voyage of discovery for both our main characters.
They each saw something in the other that made them want…. want to feel, to fight, to love…… but seeing it, grabbing it and keeping it are all very different things, aren’t they?!

We caught up with some of the other O’Kanes – a few of who we saw more that a little of…. Remember, when Ace, Rach and Cruz are around, hold on to your hats!!

We got a little insight into the next book and the lead characters that we’ll read about.. and there were some interesting people introduced to us in this book that I’m sure we are gonna meet again in the future!

Another FANBLOODYTASTIC read – as ever. The girls have excelled themselves again!!!!!

For me, this is a thoroughly recommended book! **********

RELEASE DAY BLITZ ~ Afraid To Fly by S.L. Jennings

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000035_00037]

Afraid To Fly

The Fearless Series: Book Two

S.L. Jennings

Synopsis

I’d like to tell you that I’m ok.

That the meaningless sex with countless women has somehow numbed the pain. That it’s deciphered the constant confusion in my head. Eased the self-hatred that sinks into my gut every time I look in the mirror.

I’d like to tell you that time heals all wounds.

That we evolve and grow into well-adjusted, stable adults, set on a path to right the world’s wrongs. That we are not our past…we are not our pain.

I want to tell you all those things. Hell, I want to believe all those things. But I’d be lying. I’m good at that. Living a lie is the only way I truly know how to survive.
But the day I saw her, I stopped surviving. I stopped existing. And for the first time in 24 years, I started living.

She brought me back to life. Set me free and sent my soul soaring. Made this useless shell of a man feel like…something. Something whole and real and good.

She saved me.
Although she believes I wasn’t even worth saving.

Excerpt

It was if my body had known what my soul needed to mend itself from the verbal assault that had left me open and bleeding. Sex was that healing balm for me. And this was exactly the place where I could find it.

None of the dancers here were prostitutes, and I never paid to get laid. Ever. They fucked me because they wanted me. And I fucked them because I needed them. It was an even trade.

Contrary to popular belief, I didn’t stick my dick in just anything, and other than Cherri, had only been intimate with two other girls there: Skylar, a hot sophomore at UNC Charlotte, stripping her way through college, and Velvet, a tattooed, purple-haired vixen from England who fucked like a porn star and cursed like a sailor.

Right now, I needed Velvet. If anyone could make me forget the last twenty minutes, Raven’s razor-sharp words and myself, it was her.

My legs carried me inside, despite the numbness I felt. I didn’t want to be here, but I needed to be. And once I had the soft silkiness and warmth of a woman’s skin against me, I’d feel a helluva lot better. Luckily, Velvet was there for a day shift, working the lunch crowd in her usual getup of velvet and chains. Today she wore a cut-out thonged romper that left little to the imagination. And that was fine by me. I was tired of thinking anyway.

“Hey love,” she smiled as I approached. Her lips were painted a deep, dark eggplant purple that almost looked black. I’d have the color smeared all over me within the hour, most of it in places invisible to the public.

I didn’t waste any time. I didn’t have it in me to go through the motions and pretend I was here for anything other than sex. I leaned in close to her ear, letting my lips brush her earlobe in that sensual way I knew would get her hot, and whispered, “Back room in 10.” Then I quickly made my way to the bar to slam a shot of tequila.

She was there when I arrived, lounging on a plush loveseat with her heeled boots propped up on the arm. She looked at me with sin gleaming in her heavily lined eyes and gave me a slow, Cheshire grin. “Someone’s awfully anxious today.”

I was already loosening my tie as I stalked towards her and said, “Clothes off, boots on and get on your knees.”

Fear Of Falling

The Fearless Series: Book One

S.L. Jennings

I can’t remember the last time I felt completely safe. Security seemed more like a luxury to me, reserved for those who were fortunate enough to have picture perfect childhoods. For those who didn’t bear the ugly scars that keep me bound in constant, debilitating fear. I’ve run from that fear my entire life. But when I met him, for once, I couldn’t run anymore.

He scared the hell out of me in a way that excited every fiber of my being. It wasn’t the tattoos or the piercings. It wasn’t the warmth that seemed to radiate from his frame and blanket me whenever he was near. It was just…him. The scary beautiful man that threatened to alter 23 years of routine and rituals, and make me face my crippling fear.

My name is Kami and I am constantly afraid. And the thing that scares me the most is the very thing I want.

“Don’t worry,” he smiled, pulling me into the hard warmth of his chest. “I’ve got you. I’ll always catch you when you fall.”

And just like that, Blaine had staked his claim on the untouched part of me that no living soul had ever moved. He had captured every fear, every reservation, and crushed them in the palm of his inked hand.

Title: Scattered Colors
Author: Jessica Prince

Genre: New Adult

Scattered colors

SC synopsis

The use of the phrase life is hard has become so diluted, so overstated through the years that when someone hears it the words go in one ear and out the other. The impact is no longer there. The meaning, the importance of that phrase no longer holds any water with those it’s spoken to.

Freya Linden’s life became hard at the age of seventeen, the summer before her senior year of high school. The bright colors of her life faded into black and white, a colorless shell full of loneliness.

Until she met him.

Parker Owens breathed life back into her world. With him she began to heal. But happiness isn’t a guarantee. Sometimes opening yourself up only leads to more heartbreak. The person she thought to be her saving grace shattered her completely.

Her story isn’t a pretty one. The bumps in the road were monumental and infinite. But it’s her story. And the one thing that holds true is this: despite the hardships, she made it through to the other side.

SC author bio

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. It was only as an adult that she quickly realized the cost of living in Houston made up for not being able to breathe when she stepped outside. That’s why God created central air, after all.

Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Jessica has been writing since she was a little girl, but thankfully grew out of drawing her own pictures for her stories before ever publishing her first book. Because an artist she is not.

Excerpt
My vision is partly obstructed by Ali, but the sight
of her head bobbing as she takes him in her mouth is all I need to know what’s
going on. Levi meets my gaze across the limo. There’s gloating there—that much
is obvious—but there’s also understanding. When you spend as much time together
as we do, you come to know your bandmates pretty well. For all his talk, he’s
not as big of a douche as he claims to be. He may not ever sleep with the same
woman more than once—with the exception of Ali, I guess—but I know he’s not
immune to the loneliness our lifestyle creates. It’s strange how you can be
adored by millions and yet completely alone all at the same time.

He slides his hand into her hair and closes his eyes,
throwing his head back against the seat.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck,” he whispers, and then he
gathers her hair to the side and shifts her body so that my view is completely
unobstructed. I watch as she works her hands up his shaft in time with her
mouth. He doesn’t attempt to fuck the back of her throat and make her choke on
it, the way we both had that first night we fucked her. Instead, his touch is
gentle. Reverent.

It makes me crazy, and hot as fucking hell. I shift
uncomfortably, adjusting my cock within my jeans. I don’t make a move towards
them, though I want to. I want to bury myself inside her and mark her as mine,
but at this point the lines are so fucking blurred it doesn’t matter whom she
belongs to. Him. Me. The both of us, or neither one.

I lean forward, taking a glass from the shelf and a
crystal decanter filled with amber liquor, and I pour myself a drink, and then
I slide back into the leather to watch.

“Play with yourself, Red,” he whispers.

“No.”

“Do it,” I say, and she turns around to glare at me. I
can’t tell if she’s disappointed I’m not joining in, or if she forgot I was
even here.

“I don’t want—”

“Why are you suddenly so embarrassed?” I say sharply,
swigging back more of the scotch than I should.

“I’m not embarrassed. I’d actually rather that you
joined in.”

“I’m watching,” I
say, eyeing her coolly over my glass. She scowls at me a moment and then she
kneels up, steadying herself with one hand on Levi’s thigh. She wriggles her
skirt up over her hips and bends over. Everything is on display as she takes
him in her mouth again. I close my eyes, not wanting to watch her on her knees
in front of him, her head bent low, her full fuck-me lips wrapped around Levi’s
cock. I feel as if I’m on a ride that’s spinning out of control and I can’t
find a way off. I can’t make it stop. And I so badly want it to stop.

BLP Review ~ Rebecca

Oh my Lordy!!
**Fans face while running for vibrator and new batteries**

Carmen Jenner you naughty saucy minx you!
Where the fuck do I start?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Circle Jerk
Vegas
Wax on Wax off
Elevator Sex
12 inches……………….
Holy huge dick batman!
DP
Kisses
The Feels……..
The emotion……..
The humour……..

As per usual chock full (tempted to say cock full!) of every Carmen Jenner trademark but supersized (yes, pun intended). I totally expected the sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll, it’s a rock band FFS plus Carmen, but I should have known that she would also give me the feels, make me hurt for Ali, feel every torn piece of Coop’s soul and breathe fresh air into this totally oversaturated genre. These boys are out of control and hilarious while breaking your heart. Levi and Zed in particular I adored and am so looking forward to their stories. It’s a love triangle with so many laugh out loud moments it’s ridiculous, so many highlights on the kindle I might as well just highlight the book, the most seriously hot sex I’ve read in a while, all with hot as sin, sexy as fuck rock stars and sassy, strong willed women.

The beauty of any book Ms Jenner writes is the feels, you cringe in embarrassment, have the lump in your throat from the poignancy (and possibly Levi’s cock), have the multiples because damn, does she do good sex, then have your heart shredded and put back together all while enjoying every damn minute of it and feeling like you are there. Her characters come alive, are 3D and memorable, what more could you ask for in a story?

My only gripe and the reason it’s four and a half stars not five was the ending. It’s not a cliff-hanger but it’s not complete either, I kind of felt a little like there were pages missing, would have preferred it either ended with a not knowing the last bit or known a little more but I’ll probably read the next one and take that back!

I trust the author, love her work and thoroughly enjoyed Revelry, a fabulous start to the series from the very saucy Carmen Jenner.

** SALE ** ~ Carnage by Lesley Jones – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ

Carnage Sale May 21
Lesley Jones has recently signed over the  Italian rights to Carnage. The book will be translated into Italian and available on book shelves and in e format sometime in the near future.  To celebrate this exciting news, Lesley will be putting Carnage on sale from 5/21 – 5/29 for just 99c/99p.

This is not just my top read of 2014, The Carnage Experience of Books #1 & #2 is a top read of my lifetime.

The Story of Us (Carnage, #1)

I love him, from the instant I set eyes on him when I was just 11 years old I have loved him and nothing will ever change that, he owns me, he owns my heart and he owns my body and no matter how many lies are told, no matter how many people conspire to keep us apart, despite the fame and the distance, we will find a way.

“Georgia Rae, when we made love you used to cry” … He waits for me to sing my bit. I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…
“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”

Carnage is an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean’s story will stay with you long after you read the final word.
An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read.

THE CARNAGE EXPERIENCE BY REBECCA

Thinking Out Loud Ed Sheeran on repeat play – check

Big girl panties on and pulled up – check

Still a sobbing shredded mess four days after reading Carnage #1 & #2 – check

So where do I start this review?

Lesley Jones – I Love the Fuck Out of You

That’s where I’ll start.

I’ve spent four days unable to even start trying to put into words how I feel about this book. I am not eloquent enough, humorous enough or clever enough with words to do it justice, but fuck, do I wish I was.

My love of reading has spanned nearly forty years and as an avid reader I have devoured many, many books across different genres with all types of writing styles as my tastes have changed over the years. The list of all-time favourites that I reread to death or the ones that have touched me for whatever reason and stay with me years after is miniscule in comparison to the amount read however, there are many I liked, lots I loved and some that amazed me but Carnage is in that tiny handful that are special beyond words. This crazy talented author has written this story so raw, real, gritty, sad, heartbreakingly crazy beautiful that I am literally shredded after finishing.

I am going to say very little about the story because of spoilers, to experience these books you need to go in blind because you will not see it coming. No way. No how.

An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read – yeah thanks for that Goodreads, understatement of the century. Four fucking days later and I have the book hangover from hell. I got the “feels” so bad. I cried Ugly Tears when I finished Carnage #1. Sobbed like a crazy woman. Heartbroken and in awe of an author who took that type of chance. Wrote it as it was meant to be, no matter whether that was going to be the popular choice or not.

Since finishing I have stalked Lesley Jones online (sorry I meant researched…) and discovered that initially it was meant as a standalone but, due to popular demand and threats of violence, she did Carnage#2.

This gets difficult because if I put anything about the story of #2 here then I will spoil #1 for you if you haven’t already read it. So I’m only going to quote one tiny sentence that I loved and not disclose any spoilers.

“Life’s fucked, Kitten. It’s cruel and twisted and it does spiteful things to good people. “

And that’s part of why this book touches you so deeply, because life is fucked and sad and crazy and beautiful with sometimes more bad shit than good, with times you can’t seem to claw your way out of but, if you are really lucky friends, family and that special certain someone will carry you through with love, laughter, tears and no bullshit reality checks. Then that fickle bitch Karma sometimes gives you the good surprises and second chances.

The banter, love and affection between characters is funny as fuck especially between two main characters, I adored them together. I also want a brother like Marley and a friend like ‘No Filter’ Ash! As I’m a woman of a certain age I was LMAO at outfits to impress the boyfriend involving stilettos, fishnets and leather – been there, done that, got the t-shirt!

So, as I sit here re-reading this review I’m as unhappy as I knew I would be. Because these books gutted and shredded me in the best, best way and if I had the words you would all be running off to one click them and experience Carnage. But if this means even just one reader discovers them then it was worth me trying.

Lesley Jones has written the most amazing, heartbreakingly beautiful story I have read in many years with such a punch that I will return to these over years to come just because I won’t be able to resist, the draw is that strong.

Lesley Jones I Love The Fuck Out Of YOU!!!!!!!!!!

Lesley Jones Biography

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It’s a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.

As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football…The round ball version.  I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass… or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

He’s going above and beyond the call of duty…

Avery Yeung’s biological clock just went off early. Thanks to her family’s medical history, she’s running out of time to get knocked up. And the only guy within donating distance? Her overprotective-and irritatingly hot-best friend. So clearly she needs an anonymous donor…

Anonymous donor? Over Sheriff Drew Flannery’s dead body. While daddyhood will never be in the cards for a man with his past, Drew won’t let Avery shop for a “popsicle pop.” He’ll do what’s right for his best friend by doing his best friend. But only if they do it properly.

But there’s nothing “proper” about it. Between the bed, the kitchen counter, and against his squad car, Avery and Drew are having the hottest sex ever. They can’t get enough of it-or each other. And without knowing it, they’ve crossed the one line that could ruin their friendship forever…

Excerpt #1

He jumped, and then climbed to his feet when Avery did, and followed her to the plump older nurse. She smiled at them, making him wonder if she were someone’s grandmother—the kind who made cookies and read bedtime stories and…

What the hell was he even thinking?

As soon as they turned the corner from the waiting room, she handed him a small clear cup that had a sticker with his information on it. “You’ll put the specimen in here, please.”

The nurse opened a door. “You can leave the cup in the room when you’re done.” She smiled at Avery. “You’re welcome to go into the room with him, but we ask that you ensure there’s no saliva or other fluids involved so you don’t contaminate the specimen.”

Avery made a choked noise. “That’s so not going to be a problem.”

The nurse laughed and patted her shoulder. “I’ve heard that one before, honey. I’ll just leave you to it.”

He barely waited for her to disappear back around the corner before he turned to examine the room. It looked like an entire frat house’s stash of porn had exploded in there. “Isn’t this a little much for a few tests?”

She looked at him like he was an idiot. “How else are you going to get your engine running?

Besides, this isn’t about tests—though I’m sure they’ll run a few. You wanted to help me make a baby, so let’s make a baby. Now go get ‘em, Champ.”

Jesus Christ. She expected him to leave a specimen so the doctor could shoot it up her…

Apparently when they’d talked about making a baby, something had gotten lost in translation.

“You’re shitting me.”

“Nope.” She slid past him into the room and meandered around, stopping in front of the television and eyeing the collection of DVDs on the shelf next to it. “Oh, look, they have Busty Blondes #37. I seem to remember you having one of these videos back in high school.”

He grabbed her shoulders and tried to steer her away from the shelf. “Not interested.”

Truth was, his inspiration for self sessions had migrated toward pretty Asian women who looked a whole lot like the one standing in the room with him.

“If you’re not into the DVDs, they have magazines, too.” She poked one with her finger. “Though this one appears a bit crusty.”

“Christ, stop touching things. Do you know what men do in here?”

She rolled her eyes. “Yeah, Drew, that’s kind of the point. They come in here, watch or read whatever tickles their fancy, and then masturbate into that sanitary little cup right there.”

When she said ‘masturbate’ he thought his head might actually explode. “Avery—”

“Are you worried about hitting your mark? That is kind of a small cup. Want me to go find something bigger?”

God, she was killing him. It would have been so much more bearable if he thought she was kidding, but Avery was drop dead serious. It was a sign of her nervousness that she hadn’t cracked a joke since he got into her Jeep.

He couldn’t do it.

Excerpt #2

All she had to do was pick up the phone and make the call.

Well, she refused to be a coward, and there was never a better time than now. She dialed, hating herself for holding her breath, and nearly hung up in a panic when he answered,

“Flannery.”

Her nervous energy got away from her, and words popped out of her mouth before she could think better of them. “Morning! Just calling with your daily sex status report.”

A heartbeat, and then he laughed. “Okay, I’ll bite. How’d I do?”

“Oh, you know, just fine.”

“Fine?” A car door slammed somewhere in the distance.

“Sweetheart, that was a far sight better than ‘fine.’”

She was going to get through this with sheer bravado. The only other option was to sit down and talk about their feelings, which so wasn’t on the menu if Avery had anything to say about it. A little more relaxed now, she settled onto the rocking chair and propped her feet on the chest. “It was a solid six.”

“That’s so cute when you mix up your numbers. Yesterday was a ten.”

She paused, pretending to consider. “Oh, no, definitely not a ten. I would have noticed if Sam Elliott or Sean Connery showed up.”

“You have seriously questionable taste.”

“I do not. I have excellent taste. Those voices…” She sighed, putting a little extra breathiness into it. “Actually, I’m adding Benedict Cumberbatch to that list. He’d be a ten.”

“No. Absolutely not. I draw the line at being outranked by a man with better cheekbones than most women. He is not attractive.”

“Don’t be jealous that you can’t make women come just by talking to them.”

“Two words—phone sex.”

Her laugh died. After what they’d just done, she didn’t like the reminder that he’d rocked other women’s worlds, but she’d better get used to it. This was Drew, and he’d never had a problem with the ladies. “Kudos to you, then.”

His tone shifted, the playfulness disappearing. “What are you doing for lunch?”

You. No, wait, she couldn’t say that. She still didn’t know where they stood. She couldn’t just assume they were going to keep having sex because they were joking about yesterday.

Avery twisted her hair. “I hadn’t decided.”

“I’ll make it easy on you—my place, noon.”

The growl in his voice made her shiver, but she forced a laugh. “Are we going to walk twenty paces and have a shootout?”

“If by shootout, you mean you’re going to come screaming my name, then yes.”

Excerpt #3

What was the problem? She bit back the question. It didn’t really matter. All that mattered was that he kept touching her. He ran his hands down her spine, stopping just before reaching the cuffs. Then he pulled her into a standing position, using his hips to keep her pinned against the side of the Jeep, and repeated the process with the front of her body.

Or he started to. It stopped being a cursory exploration as soon as he reached her breasts. He cupped her, squeezing. “Why the hell aren’t you wearing a bra?”

He lightly pinched her nipples and she shivered. “I wasn’t aware I was talking to the fashion police.”

“Do you know what it does to me knowing you’re driving around, a short step away from being topless?” His breath brushed the back of her neck and over one shoulder, raising goose bumps in its wake.

Probably the same thing it did to Avery. She didn’t make a habit of going braless, but she might start if this was the reaction she got. She took a shaky breath. “Then I guess you better not do a panty check.”

Drew froze for one eternal second. Then he pushed her back down over the hood of her Jeep and dragged her skirt up to bunch around her hips. A breeze chose that moment to hit—as if she needed the reminder of just how exposed she was. But then he slid a hand between her legs, and she didn’t care much about anything else at all.

“You’re already wet.” He teased her, fingers brushing her clit, her entrance, and back again, nothing close to what she needed. “I think you like it when I toss you around.”

She gritted her teeth, fighting against the need to spread her legs to give him better access, and beg for him to just touch her. “Nah. I was touching myself while I was driving.”

“Really?” He kept up his maddening route. “And what were you thinking about?”

Hell, if she actually had started early, she’d have been thinking about him. Yesterday had given her plenty of ammunition for fantasies. No way in hell would she admit as much, though. “Sean Connery. Obviously.”

“Obviously.” His laugh was a little harsh. “Guess I’ll have to up my game if I want you in the here and now, huh?”

Up his game? Only if he wanted to kill her. Avery couldn’t admit she was so affected. She wouldn’t. It was just sex—and sex with a deadline, at that. She let her cheek rest against the cool metal of the hood, striving for control. “I don’t know. Sean Connery is a pretty tough act to follow.”

“Sean Connery, huh?”

“Yep.” She was lying through her teeth and she had a pretty good idea that he knew it. His fingers pushed deeper, spreading her until she couldn’t help but rock against him. She gritted her teeth. “He was really good.”

“I bet.” His lips found the back of her neck. “It’s a shame you have to settle for me.”

The ass didn’t sound the least bit bothered by it, either.

She hissed out a breath at the feeling of his palm cupping her. Owning her. It wasn’t supposed to be this intense. She closed her eyes, but that only made it worse, because she couldn’t pretend she was with anyone else but Drew.

She didn’t want to.

Excerpt #4

She ran her fingers over his chest, enjoying his well-defined pecs. Drew was in killer shape, and his upper body could seriously fill out a T-shirt. She leaned down and flicked his nipple with her tongue, before moving further south.

His breathing changed as she hovered over the waistband of his sweats, saving her from the debate of if she was really going to make a move on him while he was sleeping. “You going to stop there?”

She looked up to find his eyes open. Stop? Not a chance. “I’m considering.”

“Keep it up and I might have to jump you instead.”

No way was she missing this chance. “Shh. It’s my turn to drive things tonight.”

She hooked his waistband and pulled it down over his hips, the sight of his cock temporarily stealing her breath.

She’d seen him naked a few times, but the impact only seemed to be growing instead of decreasing like it should. Nothing about this was going like it should, from the sex to the forbidden emotions welling up in her chest. She didn’t want to think about that, though.

Not now, maybe not ever.

The only thing she did want occupying her headspace was how good it felt to touch him. She slid down a little further to get comfortable and then gave his cock a slow stroke. Truth be told, she could play with him all night, but she didn’t think his patience would hold for that kind of treatment unless he was tied down.

An idea for later maybe…

She licked up the underside of his cock, earning a hissed breath. Emboldened, she took him in her mouth, as deep as she could manage, mirroring the slow stroke she’d just done with her hand. Drew cursed, his hands spasming in her hair.

Power beat through her. She could drive him out of his mind like this, with just her mouth and her hands. It would be the easiest thing in the world. She moved to shallower strokes, using her tongue to swirl around the head of his cock.

“Avery, I—” She met his gaze as she licked him, and Drew cursed again, louder. “Holy fuck. Come here.”

katee robert bio

New York Times & USA TODAY Bestselling Author

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
