RIVALRY

I’m not a fan of cliff-hangers and having never read Lisa’s books before I wasn’t expecting that here…. BUT…. Ms Suzanne did a great job of holding my attention during the read that I wasn’t TOO gutted when I got to the end of this instalment!

Honestly, this book had me overthinking everything between Jolene & Lincoln, I’m itching to know what other secrets Lincoln’s dad might be keeping… as well as Lincoln himself.
What skullduggery is gonna be afoot from the camp of some competition…..

I’d love to know more about Jolene’s ex and what happened there. She’s got her best friend and her son but she seems pretty alone. I hope she’s at least honest with herself when it comes to Lincoln going forward.

For me, neither of them have really lived a life since the fateful day 20 years ago. Lincoln hasn’t got much to show outwith his career and why does his dad still have such a hold on him?

I’ve looked at the blurb for the upcoming books and I’m not sure how to feel about some things that are coming – I’ve got a feeling I might want to throw my kindle a time or two before this 5 book (how am I gonna cope?!?!?!) series comes to a close.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for our pair but I’m failing on the hope side at this point in time if I’m being honest!!

4 stars (mainly because of the cliffy ending!!)

* I would recommend that you read Penalty (free prequel to book one) to fully understand the reason for the depths of feelings between this couple!!

Oh the gods…… I’m not gonna get through another 3 instalments if this angst keeps up!!!!

Play Call starts where Rivalry ended and it’s another cliff hanger ending. The heat, passion and honesty (though not all their truths are revealed!!) ramp up in this instalment ….. This pair felt a heart deep connection when they were younger and now, two decades later, this connection is only more palpable.

There’s so much stacking up against them that even though they’ve admitted (at least fully to themselves if not each other) how they feel about the other and they truly want time together, it’s like fate hates them and keeps throwing roadblocks and problems in their faces.

I honestly detest Lincoln’s father and Jolene’s dad isn’t far behind in my feelings. The pressure they put on their kids, even as grown adults, it’s severe.

I felt sick along with Jolene during some of this read and I’m dreading what’s coming next…….

Another solid 4* read
