Title: Execution Style
Series: Code-11 KPD SWAT #4
Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: August 5, 2015

Miller Spurlock might seem like a laid back man on the outside, but piss him off, or violate his trust, and he’ll show you the meaning of pain.

He was a Navy SEAL. He could kill a man a hundred different ways and not break a sweat.

He’s also a police officer and member of the SWAT team, which means he has the knowledge and skills to get away with it.

Rage boils in his gut when he witnesses what happens to the beautiful Mercy Shepherd during a SWAT op from hell that even his worst nightmare couldn’t conjure up. And it surprises the hell out of him when she wants him, and him only, to comfort her in the aftermath.

Miller becomes the one shining beacon of light at the bottom of Mercy’s pit of despair.

The one man that could pull her through the rough days ahead and make her whole again.

And during her road back to herself, she realizes that she’s got the one thing she ever wanted in life…a hero to call her own.

BLP REVIEWS

~ Tracy ~

Execution Style was a decent read – I finished it even though there were a few times I could feel my brain do a mental eye roll….

The characters were fairly likeable – Miller more so than Mercy in my opinion. Their coming together was under very intense and difficult circumstances. I had a couple of hmmmm moments around why he was with her – was it a hero complex thing where he felt he had to protect her or was there a vibe from her that he had to stay…. but reading through the story we see that there’s more to it than that.

This pair have to be the unluckiest couple I’ve read about in a good while. The number of things that happened and went wrong was a case of ‘the hits just keep on coming’ and tbh, I found it all a bit much at points.
The ‘villian’ was another ‘what the??’ for me… made out to be a total crazy but the things they did and the information that they could get hold of made me think Miller and Mercy were dealing more with a mastermind that a nutter!!!
I know we have to suspend belief for a bit when we read a work of fiction but in all honesty,  there were a few things that happened in the book that I just felt were a tad excessive and I had doubts that they could really happen in real life – I could be wrong and the author has done her homework and the things I had issues with could very well be possible but I’m still on the nu-uh side of the fence at the moment!!

Saying all of the above, it wasn’t a bad read, sadly it just didn’t give me the feels and left me feeling just ok by the end. I will read the next book in the series as I’d like to know more about the hero in that one.

I rate Execution Style a 3.5*

~ Rebecca ~

Execution Style is a ‘shoulda, woulda, coulda’ scenario – Should have been good, story had promise, characters had promise. Would have been good with less OTT drama and a little more substance. Could have been good with a better editor for flow, continuity and errors.
I’m always sad when a book leaves me with just a meh feeling, not really caring one way or the other, I would rather totally love it or totally dislike it – at least it inspired feelings. Execution Style was just too unbelievably dramatic, and yeah I know it’s fiction but seriously? From one horrific event that occurred which is where Miller met Mercy it’s just a roller coaster perilously careering totally out of control throwing in unneeded drama where more substance and exploration of characters and events would have had far more effect.
Everybody deals with stuff differently but it seriously stretches the imagination to say the least that a woman deals with the aftermath of a horrific act in such a way and so I struggled, didn’t really connect with either character despite flashes of humour and banter that is trademark Lani Lynn Vale.
There are secondary cast members I liked but were overshadowed by the OMFG SERIOUSLY???????? moments I kept having as the drama continued with sparkles, glitter and fanfare. I personally needed more emotion, more exploration of the relationship between them without something happening every 30 seconds (see how I threw in over exaggerated drama then?!?!?!).
Sadly this one wasn’t for me and I probably won’t continue with this series.

I walked beside Viddy as we walked down the hallway from the plane’s exit.

My eyes were on Trance, who was, indeed, drunk. He was barely putting one foot in front of the other, and I honestly didn’t know how he was walking with the amount of alcohol he’d consumed.

He hadn’t looked that drunk when he’d been sitting; although, once he’d stood up that all had changed.

Miller, however, had been expecting it because he caught him before his knees even had a chance to buckle.

“What’s the deal here? Why does he hate to fly so much?” I asked, turning my gaze to Viddy.

Her mouth curled in the corner as she said, “I don’t think he has a ‘reason.’

More, I just think it’s a phobia of his. He says he’s had it since he was a teenager when 9-11 happened. I don’t blame him. That day affected us all.

Some large, and some small. But still just as important.”

I nodded.

I could see how that’d scare him. Hell, I couldn’t say that it hadn’t crossed my mind as the plane started taking off.

We stayed silent as we walked down the hallway, and into the main part of the airport.

I could hear boots clunking behind me, and I looked over my shoulder to see Silas there.

Silas, I’d found out, was the president of the motorcycle club that Trance belonged to.

He was in his early fifties, from what I’d been told, but the man could totally pass for late thirties. I hadn’t realized he was the father of Sebastian. Another man I’d met only today.

Sebastian and Silas looked as if they could be brothers, instead of father and son.

Silas smiled at me when he caught my eyes on him, and gave me a wink.

“You ready to meet the parents?” He asked.

I blinked, then started getting nervous.

Of course, it’d occurred to me that I was meeting Miller’s parents…but I hadn’t thought about how important it was…this initial meeting. I wanted to make a good impression.

Which was why, when I saw the bathroom just before we got to the baggage claim where we were to be meeting, I darted inside and went straight towards a stall. Where I promptly started to hyperventilate.

I sat down and buried my face in my hands, leaning forward to try to circumvent the panic I could feel rising at an alarming rate.

What if they didn’t like me?

Would Miller think differently of me?

Hell, Miller didn’t feel anything for me. How could he?

He hadn’t made so much as an ass grab since I’d forced him to fuck me.

The door to the stall opened and I halted my sobs.

Silent tears tracked down my face as I waited for whomever was outside the stalls to finish the fuck up so I could resume my sob fest.

Except whomever it was didn’t just leave.

“What’s wrong?” Miller said from above me.

I screamed.

Like a little bitch.

“What the hell, Miller! What have I told you about boundaries?” I yelled, yanking my pants up and turning to glare up at him.

He started to grin unrepentantly at me before he saw the tears in my eyes, then he frowned.

“What’s wrong?” He demanded.

Then he literally jumped over the stall.

wasn’t sure how he did it, but one second he was on the other side, and the next he was gathering me into his arms.

“I don’t want to talk about it,” I said lamely.

He chuffed. “Get over it and tell me what the fuck is wrong.”

Always so elegant, my Miller.

“What if they don’t like me?” I whispered fiercely.

His eyes softened as he cupped my face. “They’ll like you, honey. You’ve already got my brothers wrapped around your finger. And we’ve got our parents wrapped around ours. Trust me, it’ll all be okay. I wouldn’t have brought you here if I didn’t think they’d like you.”

I closed my eyes and leaned my head against his chest.

“Okay,” I sighed. “Let’s go.”

He took my hand, stopped for a squirt of the hand sanitizer dispenser, and pulled open the door to the bathroom.

I hadn’t even made it out three feet past the threshold when a barrel of energy hit me, gathering me up in her arms and pulling me into her.

“Oh,” the woman, who I guessed was Miller’s mother, said. “I’ve been waiting for you for thirty five years.”

I blinked. “Thirty five years?”

She nodded. “The moment I had Miller, I knew I was only ever going to have boys. But I knew that one day Miller would get married, and I’d have a daughter.”

“Hey, what about me?” Viddy teased from the chair beside Trance’s slumped form.

“I like her,” his mother whispered. “But you are exactly as I’d pictured my daughter in law to be.”

Then she turned around to Viddy. “No offense.”

She smiled. “None taken, Sloan. I know Miller’s your favorite.”

Sloan, Miller’s mother, nodded. “That’s true,” turning back to me. “He is my favorite.”

My jaw dropped. “You have a favorite child?”

She nodded. “He’s the only one that I got drugs with when I was birthing them. I don’t care what the heck you say. You don’t forget. You remember everything about the birthing experience, and those other two kids left me with scars. Horrible, ugly scars.”

My eyes widened and I turned my face up to Miller’s to see him smiling.

That smile was contagious, though.

It caught on my face, and when I turned back to Sloan I said, “I think I’m going to love you.”

She beamed. Positively beamed.

SI 1

Excerpt

“You’re really purdy,” she slurred with a lopsided grin, running her finger down my cheek.
“That’s it. No more drinks for you,” I said, dragging the glass away from her.
“No! I’ve only had three,” she said as she lurched forward, pulling the drink out of my hands.
“I’m enjoying myself. I’ve had a bitch of a week and I deserve to let loose a little.”
I held my hands up. “You’ve actually had four martinis, but anything you want, princess.”
Her eyes grew into little slits. “I’m not your princess,” she slurred, sounding completely adorable.
My cheeks hurt as I smiled. “I’m going to take you home now. I think you need to sleep it off.”
“Last time I checked,” she said before hiccupping, “you’re not my daddy.” A slow smile crept across her face. She scooted closer and whispered, “Unless that’s your thing.” She tried to wink, but both eyes closed, one after the other.
I leaned into her space, a breath away from her lips. “It’s not my thing, but I’m happy to act out your fantasies. But I don’t think you want to cross that line. Once you go there, there’s no going back.” I stared into her eyes.
“Oooh.” Her eyes grew wide. “Is that supposed to scare me, Mr. DeLuca?”
I didn’t move. “I’m just giving you fair warning. You’ve had a few drinks, and I won’t take advantage of that. I’m just telling you how it is.”
“You’re full of yourself.” Her warm, sweet breath caressed my lips as she spoke.
All I wanted to do was reach out, pull her face to mine, and kiss her full, beautiful lips. “I’m sure of myself and confident in my abilities, yes. That’s entirely different than being full of myself.” I licked my lips, testing her.
Her eyes dropped to my mouth as her lips parted.
“Another?” Lisa interrupted.
“We’re good,” I replied, keeping my eyes pinned to Race and waving Lisa off.
“Pfft,” Lisa scoffed, stomping away.
Race glared in Lisa’s direction. “She wants you,” she whispered.
Was she jealous?
“I don’t want her.”
“She’s a sure thing though.”
I leaned closer, leaving very little space between us. “I never liked easy.”
“All men like easy.” Her body swayed, moving so close our lips almost brushed.

Blurb

When tragedy strikes, Seth Stewart is forced to return home after the death of his beloved father. The unexpected detour forces him to oversee the family’s auto shop and restaurant business, and Seth must kiss the prestigious internship goodbye after his first year at Berkeley Business School. When he collides with his first crush after his arrival, Seth wonders what possibly could have happened to Josefina Anders.

Josefina has hidden many secrets she is too ashamed to share with anyone, especially Seth. When they cross paths again, the urge to relive their past lingers in her mind even though she knows he couldn’t accept her sketchy past. Things get even more complicated when her mother returns, as well as her overly possessive ex, who decides to crash into her fragile existence all over again.

Will Seth’s connection for Josefina be strong enough to see past her secrets, or will he realize he can’t rekindle an old flame?

Excerpt

When she pulled away to look at me, our eyes locked and thousands of emotions rocketed through me. I felt so much, almost too much for my heart to handle…for my body to control. My hands glided up her back, and the soft silky blouse lured me to rip it off her. Lacing through her hair with my hands, I gave in to the temptation I could no longer control and kissed her in madness. Josie kissed me back and her tongue swirled in hunger. I got hard when she rocked back and forth on me. I thought I could come just from this action alone. I wanted so much of Josie, but not here…not now.

Revived.Ebook.Amazon

Synopsis

India Harris didn’t have the best start in life. Abandoned as a baby, she and her twin brother, Kit, spent their lives in foster care, only having each other to rely on. Then, at a young age, a relationship with the wrong man left India pregnant. Wanting to give her son the life she never had, she put herself through school and graduated with honors.

Now, at the age of thirty, she’s a highly respected therapist.

At the top of his game as a Formula One driver, Leandro Silva had everything—until an accident on the track left him staring death in the face. After enduring twelve months of physical therapy, Leandro is now physically able to race, but his mind is keeping him from the track. Frustrated and angry, Leandro’s days and nights are filled with limitless alcohol and faceless women.

Entering the last year of his contract, he knows he has to race again, or he’ll lose everything he spent his life working for. Forced into therapy to get his life back, Leandro finds himself in the office of Dr. India Harris.

Falling for his uptight therapist is not part of Leandro’s plan.

Having unethical feelings for her patient, the angry Brazilian race car driver, is not part of India’s plan.

But what if the wrong person is the only person who is right?

Excerpt

My eyes move to the magazines on the table. A sports mag is peeking out from under the fashion mags. Leaning forward, I pull it out, instantly wishing I hadn’t.

On the cover of the magazine is a picture of me with the caption, What the Bad Side of Formula 1 Looks Like.

Nice.

So, now, I’m the bad side of Formula 1. Good to know.

I already know what the media say about me. How I’ve turned from a great racer into a drunk and a whore.

They’re not wrong on the whore part. Well, whore is a bit harsh. I don’t charge for my services. And I wouldn’t say I’m a drunk. I just like to drink—a lot.

I shouldn’t read the article. I know this, but the sadistic part of me has me turning those pages.

Finding the article, eyes scanning the text, I pick out the usual shit.

Why is Silva no longer racing? Physically, he’s healthy. Is it mental problems? Fear over racing because of his accident? Is that why he drinks—drowning his misery in alcohol? Such a shame to see a once great driver fall from grace so dramatically.

Frustration and rage grip my chest like a vise.

Fuck this. I don’t need this shit.

Even though I can’t race, it’s not like I actually need to.

I don’t need to race. I just need to drink and fuck. That’s all I need now. All I will ever need.

Liar.

I’m a liar and a chickenshit. And that’s why I’m sitting in the waiting room to see a therapist.

Maybe I am beyond help.

Tossing the magazine back onto the table, I get to my feet, ready to leave this place, just as the door opens, revealing the epitome of what I could really do with screwing right now.

My eyes trail up the tanned, toned legs to the fitted pencil skirt that I would happily hitch up to see the magnificent pussy that I bet lies beneath. A pale-pink blouse is tucked into that skirt, covering what looks like a fantastically sized pair of tits. Silky blonde hair sits on her shoulders. Hair that I would enjoy getting my hands all tangled in while I fuck those bright red lips of hers, enjoying seeing that lipstick smeared all over my cock.

My dick pulses in my jeans, more than ready to proposition her with the offer.

“Mr. Silva.” She steps forward. “I’m Dr. Harris. But please call me India.”

She’s Dr. Harris?

This hitch-your-skirt-up-and-let-me-fuck-you-right-now woman is my new therapist.

Well, that’s just fucking great. It’s not like I can bang my therapist.

I put my cock on hold and give her my best smile, the one that always has panties dropping to the floor, as I say, “And you can call me Leandro.”

About Melissa SchroederDSC_0049

From an early age, Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.
Since the publication of her first book in 2004, Melissa has had over fifty romances published. She writes in genres from historical suspense to modern day erotic romance to futuristics and paranormals. Included in those releases is the bestselling Harmless series and her USA Today Bestselling series The Santinis.. Along the way she has garnered an epic nomination, a multitude of reviewer’s recommended reads, over five Capa nods from TRS, eleven nominations for AAD Bookies and regularly tops the best seller lists on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Since she spent her childhood as a military brat, Melissa swore never to marry military. But, as we all know, Fate has her way with mortals. She is married to an AF major and is raising her own brats, both human and canine. She spends her days giving in to her addiction to Twitter, counting down the days until her hubby retires, and cursing the military for always sticking them in a location that is filled with bugs big enough to eat her children.
