BLP REVIEW – Tracy

I love Laramie’s books and this was no exception.

A little different from her series books that I can’t get enough of and because of that it was the perfect read for me at this point.

Blake & Willa were perfect and I could definitely have read more about the pair as their connection and spark was instant and their banter was great.

Blake with his determination to see Willa was just fab, even if his plan didn’t quite work.
How they were finally put in each others’ path and the organic growth of their relationship made for such great reading.

This was such an easy, engaging, heartwarming but smoldering read. Everything about this pair shouted that they were meant to be together.

A really fun, enjoyable read – it definitely gives you a little current celebrity couple vibe – this was a hit for me!!!!

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

Pippa Grant = my happy place and IMO there’s no place happier than the Thruster or Fireballs world UNLESS it’s a Fireballs/Thrusters crossover world!!!!

Duncan and Addie were👌🏻perfect. The banter, the antics, the crazy instance where they meet face to face again… honestly, that dressing room scene…. I felt her pain!!!!

I understood Addie’s hesitance and how closed off to a relationship she was initially. She’s in a predominantly male sporting field and, regardless of how well she’s doing or what positive things people say, she still doubts that there’s security in her role or that she’s truly wanted for who she is.

Duncan was Addie’s biggest champion. He didn’t want her to change and he was so supportive of her and everything she was trying to achieve. I loved how he thought about her and that he saw ‘her’ not the coach she let everyone else see.

This pair (and their respective team/teammates) had me laughing at their antics. Both of them had so many people rooting for them and there to support them.

‘Daddie’ had so much chemistry, heat and passion but it was the other moments between them that showed how fabulous they could be together.

A fantastic read. Another hit from Ms Pippa.

“What do you need me to do?” I offer.

Next thing I know, my arms open automatically when she shoves the baby at me.

“Take her.”

Ama disappears inside before my brain can come up with an objection.

Any baby experience I have began and ended with Carmi, Sully’s daughter, and Fletch’s son, Hunter, and that was twelve or thirteen years ago. It’s not that I don’t like babies, because I do, but the fact this is Sloane’s baby is making it a little awkward. Still, I settle her a little better in the crook of my arm.

Then I hear the creak of the rocking chair and Thomas’s raspy chuckle and look up. The old fart clearly thinks this is funny.

“You should see the look on your face,” he points out as he continues to rock his chair. “I’m guessing young Sloane becoming a parent was a surprise to you as well?”

“Yes,” I grumble, just as a little hand slaps against my chin and catches on the short hairs of my beard.

I drop my eyes to Sloane’s baby, who has her little face turned toward me. I don’t know who the dark hair belongs to, but those blue eyes are unmistakably her mother’s.

“Aspen. That’s her name,” Thomas shares. “Pretty little thing, ain’t she?”

She is, especially when her little mouth spreads in a wide, toothless smile.

“You look good holdin’ that baby,” he continues. “Too bad you let her momma slip away, or that wee one could’a been yours.”

Fuck. That stings.

Should’ve known the old man wouldn’t hesitate to poke his finger in the sore spot.

“I’m not the one who left.”

The bitter comment slips out before I can check it.

“No, you weren’t. You’re just the one who let her walk.”

Agitated, I get to my feet, shifting the baby to my shoulder as I start to pace the porch.

“It wasn’t that simple.”

“It never is, son. It never is.”

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

I loved the original HMT series so was delighted when Freya announced she was writing ‘the next generation’ books!!

We met Dan & Sloane in the original series. At that point Dan was dealing with a lot of issues around caring for his mum, proving his worth at the ranch and in all honesty, he had enough on his plate never mind having time for someone else..
Sloane at this same point was trying to work out who she was and what she wanted to do with her life.
There was an obvious attraction but we never knew what exactly, if anything, happened between them.

Fast forward a few years and Sloane has returned ‘home’, living in a cabin on the ranch and starting a new job. Dan is now a solid part of the HMT team and has definitely grown up.

This pair!! I loved them together. I especially liked Dan’s patience and perseverance.
Sloane was determined to move on with her life, given her most recent history with guys it was understandable that she was throwing off ‘not interested’ vibes when they met again.
Dan for his part knew what he wanted and realised he had a second chance right in front of him that he wasn’t missing again.

There was a lot of suspense and drama in the read which I enjoyed. The heat and passion between Sloane & Dan came off the page and I loved how he took care of her.

Catching up with the HMT OG’s and discovering who the new ‘young guns’ are was fun. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series and I’m so intrigued about the couple who are next up after the teasers Freya gave us!!!

If you’ve read the original HMT series you’re gonna love this but if you haven’t, this new series is a great place to start!

The more of this series I read the more I love it!!

Clap Back was a really good read. Auden & Maven were great.

I liked that they both felt an attraction and it wasn’t one sided – even though Auden misguidedly thought his twin was interested in his favourite baker. Once they were together things moved at a pace but it felt right.

Maven had had a really tough time of things living at home and even now that she was striking out on her own, her ‘family’ was making life nigh on unbearable.
I loved that Auden was all in. He was protective, supportive, caring and loving and he knew that Maven was it for him.

As ever, the whole Carter clan were there for back up, support and when needed, some entertainment.

Looking forward to more of the Carter boys as the series continues.
