Accent Ebook

Title: Accent Hussy
Series: It Had 2 B U #2
Author: V. Kelly

Release Date: April 17, 2016

Synopsis

I LOVE accents!

I HATE Caleb Conaway.

It’s true, I despise him! Caleb Conaway is an unaccented pain in my ass. No matter how many times I tell the sexy boxer I’m not interested in him, he just doesn’t listen to me. People call me an Accent Hussy. That’s because I’m only attracted to men with sexy accents, dripping in butter, oozing with sex and hit me straight in the vagina. Yup, that’s EXACTLY what I’m looking for. Caleb’s voice does nothing for me; it assaults my ear drums and makes me want to gouge out my eyeballs. I finally thought I got away from him, until a foolish date with a sexy Irishman ends with me arrested . . .

All I wanted was to complete my community service and go home. What I didn’t expect was to fall in love with the kids at the Youth Center, or run into the one man that I love to hate . . . Caleb Conaway.

They say that every person has an Achilles’ Heel, I just wasn’t expecting mine to be Caleb Conaway.

“Do you need a ride?”

Speak of the devil. Caleb is standing behind me, his hands shoved in his pockets. I’m not sure if I should be happy to see him, or annoyed. It’s hard to fight the attraction I have for him when he keeps popping up like this.

“Nope, I’m going to call a cab.”

“I have a car parked around the corner. I can give you a lift.”

“Is this some ploy to get me to go home with you? Because if so, I’m not that drunk.” I hear my words slur a little bit and I giggle. Holy crap, maybe I am that drunk.

“Would it be a bad thing to go home with me? I can tell you’re attracted to me; your eyes have been following me around all night long.”

He winks at me . . . again. Ugh, why am I finding his winking sexy? Winking is not sexy. His winking . . . fucking amazing.

“I’m certain it would be something I’d definitely regret in the morning,” I tell him, not really believing myself. I’m sure he’d make every second worth it. The fact of the matter is, he doesn’t have an accent, and that’s a deal breaker—a major one.

“I’m pretty sure it would be the best night of your life. I could give you references if you need them.”

Mock laughter spills from my lips. “Yes, because contacting every vagina that’s made contact with your dick sounds like the perfect way to assess your ability to make my night. Are you that dense? Seriously, do you choke on your cockiness, or do you simply like the taste of your own ego?”

He looks a little shocked at my comeback, but it only lasts for a few seconds. His self-assured smile is back and I don’t find it any less attractive than I did before. If anything, his confidence is a super big turn on for me. “The only person who will be choking on anything tonight is you, my dear, when I shove my cock straight into your pretty little mouth.”

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

After reading Innuendos (book #1 in the series) I couldn’t wait to read ACCENT HUSSY. Ms. Kelly writes a great book and her humour, banter and character interactions make for a seriously good read. As expected, Vanessa didn’t disappoint!!

Accent Hussy features Everly and her seemingly never ending search to find her dream man – with an accent!! Now, history has kinda proven to our leading lady that maybe she’s trudging down the wrong path but she’s too bloody minded and focused on her goal that she’s at a point where she can’t even consider what (or who) is in front of her face… This was probably my biggest gripe with Ev.. even when she knew she was being crazy she couldn’t/wouldn’t face the truth head on – I wanted to shake her at times!!
As you can imagine she’s a strong willed gal. She’s pretty much unfiltered and happily speaks her mind when she feels the need, she’s really funny and overall is a good person – she just has kinda sucky judgement when it comes to blokes.

Caleb Conaway… I have to admit that where Ev hated Caleb, I absolutely adored him!! He had the right amount of confidence – hedging towards cocky but beneath it all he was a sweetheart – he was hot, knew what he wanted and was determined enough to go for it (and the gods know he had the patience of a saint!!). At one point I was beginning to think he should just give up on ever winning Ev round but I’m glad he stuck with things!!

While not just as laugh out loud funny as the first book in the series, this was a fab read – the laughs are still there, it’s just a little different from Max & Breezy’s story. It was great to catch up with the characters we met in book #1 and the Accent Hussy timelines crosses the storyline from Innuendos so we had a couple of scenes from that book in Everly’s POV .

I love this series and can’t wait for the next book from Vanessa.

it's not what you think

She’s a lawyer, he’s an ex-con

Derek Malone makes a bold proposition; unlimited sex with Emily Larson for six weeks in exchange for relinquishing his right to sue Emily’s father, the corrupt prosecutor who railroaded him into prison. But he never figured he’d lose his heart to the dynamic public defender with the courage to accept his wicked offer.

Emily Larson can hardly believe she agreed to Derek’s audacious scheme. But she knows it’s just sex and that suits her fine. There’s no room for the emotional chaos of jealousy or heartache. Derek is just a drop-dead sexy guy who knows how to cook—in the kitchen and in the bedroom. But he’s a little bit dangerous and makes no secret of his desire for revenge against her father. Emily cannot allow herself to trust him, even as she finds herself falling deeper under the spell of his devilish charm.

LOA Excerpt

The door banged open and Emily bristled, expecting another barrage of questions.

But it wasn’t a reporter. A man strode through the doors, his sky-blue eyes pinned on her. And not just any man. Derek Malone. Emily’s heart skipped a beat.

“Hello, Emily.”

She turned away from the sink and faced him, but said nothing.

He advanced with purpose, and before Emily could stop herself, she stepped backward.

Mistake number one. Don’t show fear. Her back met the cold tile wall.

She’d known he was handsome from photos and video of his original trial, but now, standing less than a foot away, she recognized how truly gorgeous he was.

There were rumors that during his incarceration he’d received marriage proposals from women he didn’t even know, and lonely, horny strangers showed up to offer “unofficial” conjugal visits.

“Do you know who I am?”

How could she not? “Mr. Malone. What are you doing here?”

Emily knew his case as well as she knew the stunning planes of his face. Derek’s was one of three overturned convictions resulting from the investigation into her father’s actions, and though she’d never say so out loud, she couldn’t help but feel the four years he spent in prison were her fault for not discovering what her father was up to much sooner.

Of course, screwing that underage slut was all on him.

“You probably think I’m here to thank you.” Mockery rang in his voice.

He stalked directly across the restroom floor and planted his hand on the wall beside her head. She swallowed so hard her head bobbed up and down. Mistake number two.

“In the women’s restroom?”

He pressed close. Another inch, and he’d pin her to the wall with his muscular body. He was clean-shaven and smelled lightly of minty cologne. Black, wavy hair brushed the collar of his shirt. The shirtsleeves were rolled to the elbows, revealing the tight cords in muscular forearms. Even under the pale-blue cotton that made his eyes stand out more brilliantly than the sky, his broad shoulders and the bulge of well-formed biceps were obvious. He’d spent the last four years lifting weights and avoiding trouble in prison.

Those amazing eyes flicked down to her lips. “Nice comment to the press. Too bad you didn’t mean it.”

So he’d been following her. The fear swirling in her gut increased two levels.

“I meant it. No one is above the law.”

He snorted. “Right.”

“My father is in prison.”

“Your father is at a country club for the rich and privileged.”

She didn’t argue that. It was essentially true. But her father was a fifty-eight-year-old white-collar criminal with influential friends in the court system and ties to the community. He wasn’t a threat to the general public, or a flight risk.

Derek Malone had done hard time in one of California’s most brutal maximum security prisons.

“Why are you here, Mr. Malone?” Emily hoped he couldn’t hear the quaver she felt in her voice.

The thin mask of pleasantness in Derek’s face vanished. He eased closer yet, and his leg slipped between hers. “I spent four years in prison for a rape I didn’t commit. I think I deserve what I paid for.”

Black spots popped into her vision. She could hardly draw a breath. “So you’ve come here to rape me, is that it?” Emily’s pulse thundered in her ears. Had those words really come out of her own mouth?

He frowned. “Of course not.”

The door swished open. A woman peeked in, a cameraman looming behind her. It was Rita Ward, the snarky reporter from Channel 4.

Derek shot a glare over his shoulder. “Get out.”

The woman backed out and the door eased closed.

Rita had seen her, too, but it didn’t relieve Emily’s fear. Derek’s anger seeped out of every pore like a living, breathing monster.

“I’m owed retribution. I’m going to get it, one way or another.”

Enough was enough. She hadn’t fought her way up the corporate ladder through a jungle of chauvinistic bravado only to turn into a shrinking violet now.

She squared her shoulders. “What do you want from me?”

“A private moment, alone.”

“We’re having that now.” Her voice still trembled, like it used to during her first year in court. The man had turned her into a jumpy novice all over again.

“A longer moment.” Malone cocked a slow, lazy grin. “Six weeks, to be exact. A day for every month I spent in prison.”

A moment of confusion passed. He was crazy. Then his eyes slid down her body slowly, appraisingly, and understanding clicked.

Sex? Dear lord in Heaven! Six weeks of sex?

She opened her mouth, but nothing came out.

“I could sue your father. A lawyer has already contacted me about a class-action lawsuit.”

“My father is going to be sued anyway. What do I care if you take part or not?”

He leaned closer. “Come on, Counsel. I don’t have to tell you a class-action suit is a lot worse than a joint suit, at least to all the snobs in your neighborhood.”

She swallowed. He was right about that, especially in her mother’s eyes. “Even if I…What’s to stop you from doing that anyway?”

His smile grew, dangerously alluring, and Emily understood why strangers had gone to Holt-Lincoln Penitentiary to offer him sex. His teeth were even and white, his lips perfectly shaped. He had a strong, chiseled jaw and a straight, patrician nose. But his eyes were the most amazing part of him. She’d never seen blue like this. It was the flecks of gray that made them almost silver, and the circle as dark as a midnight sky around the iris. They were mesmerizing eyes, and their magic had her spellbound.

He shifted his body, pressing his hips against hers. The length of his erection pushed against her abdomen, a rock-hard ridge beneath black jeans, leaving no doubt to his intentions.

Rushes of something unidentifiable rolled through Emily that couldn’t entirely be called fear.

She didn’t want it to be desire, but heaven help her, it sure felt like it. Her pulse raced. This was unreal!

“How do you come up with six weeks?”

“I’m rounding up in my favor.”

“I see.”

Those tiny lines crinkled around his eyes as he laughed. “You want it.”

“Like hell.”

“Your body doesn’t lie.” His thumb flicked over one stiff nipple, separated from her skin only by a sheer silk blouse and barely-there bra.

Powerful waves of hot need crashed to the center of her. She didn’t need to look down to see her nipples were like pebbles. They were so tight she wasn’t sure which ached more: the one he teased or the one he neglected.

He squeezed the full mound of her breast and her legs turned to jelly. He snatched her purse with his other hand.

“Hey!”

“You’re going to give me what I want, or I’m going to sue your father for everything he’s got.”

Her breath rushed out in a whoosh. “That’s your right.”

Derek shoved backward and dug through her purse. “You wouldn’t want your mother to lose that fancy house in Beverly Hills, would you?” He held up her keys.

She grabbed them out of his hand. “Forget it.”

His grin turned wicked. “You’re so starched. When was the last time you got some?”

“None of your business!”

He snatched the keys back. “I’m coming over tonight, and we’re going to discuss it.”

“You don’t know where I live.”

He singled out a silver Kwikset from the ring and held it up. “Forty-eight Blossom Valley Drive. Cute little bungalow with Bougainvillea over the front door.”

Her jaw fell open. Fear replaced any confusing hints of desire.

He chuckled at her shocked expression. “You’re listed in the phone book. You should be more careful, Counsel. Some people don’t like public defenders.”

“You’re crazy if you think I’m going to let you fuck me.”

He laughed. “Let me fuck you? Sweetheart, you’re going to do most of the work.”

His arrogance was almost laughable. But his suggestion was almost…exciting.

“You’re going to rock my world, and maybe I’ll go away happy.”

“You just want to hurt my father. Why the hell should I help you?”

“Maybe it’s enough to me that he knows I’m making his sweet little girl’s legs ten inches longer.”

The image that statement conjured sent her reeling out of control. She forced a laugh. “You have a high opinion of yourself.”

“What can I say? I’m good. Women want me.”

“Not this one.” She swallowed again. Mistake number three.

“Six weeks of crazy, gorilla sex. When was the last time anyone made you an offer like that?”

Never. Not like it was something she’d ever want them to.

Would she?

“I have a boyfriend.”

“No you don’t.”

“How do you know?”

“Lucky guess.”

He gave her that wicked grin again. It was working on her. Combined with his racy suggestions, her insides were melting like chocolate on a warm day. A very warm day.

Just the idea of what he proposed made her sweat. The thought of actually going through with it made slippery heat bloom between her legs.

He jingled the keys, holding the Kwikset to her front door.

A moment passed where she didn’t breathe, and her heart didn’t beat. “You can knock, like everyone else.”

What the hell did she just say?

“As if you’ll open the door.” He chuckled as he worked the Kwikset off the mini carabineer she used as a ring.

The door banged open. “Everything all right in here? Ms. Larson?” Travis pushed his hulking frame through, nightstick in hand. God bless that nosy reporter.

“Just having a chat with Ms. Larson,” Derek tossed over his shoulder.

“Chat somewhere else,” Travis commanded in a deep voice. “You can’t be in here.”

Derek eased away and tossed the ring of remaining keys back to her. They hit the wall beside her and crashed to the floor with a tinkling like breaking glass. Still grinning, he gave a little wave. “See you tonight, Counsel.”

EXCERPT

Tessa owed her big time, and if she didn’t pay up the next time she wanted help ratting her hair she was going to get help alright. Of all the things her friend asked her to do, bring lunch to Pete, of all people…she didn’t know whether she wanted to jump him or kill him from one moment to the next.

Annabeth still hadn’t forgiven him for dunking her in the river a few months back when he, Ryan, J.T. and Newt had helped rescue them from a demon, which had been lead by a group of witch hunters. She had been mad at Pete for snapping one of the asshole’s neck right in front of her, ending his existence permanently. After she had time to think about it, she understood Billy would never have made amends for his actions and was destined to repeat them over and over again. But when the big, tattooed, terrific-smelling Pete dumped her into the river, well that was the last straw.

Now here she stood, glaring down, wanting nothing more than to smack him over the head with the basket of food she’d brought as a favor to Tessa.

“You’d know all about that, wouldn’t you? You’re just a regular ole carpenter bee this time round, aren’t you.”

She knew she was being a bitch, but just couldn’t seem to help herself. He was a pushy, arrogant, self-centered alpha male. Top it with looks to make your mouth water, a chest a mile wide she’d love to trace with her tongue.

“Here’s your lunch.” She all but threw it at him. The slight grunt that came from him when it hit his chest wiped the smug know-it-all look off his face. Until he started going through the basket, pulling out the food. She’d never heard a man make such happy noises like he was.

“Thank ye kindly, little witch.” Squinting up at her, he popped a grape into his mouth. She couldn’t help but notice the way his full lips moved. Gods, what was wrong with her? This man was arrogant. Despite being covered in sexy tan skin, which only made her want to touch every inch and then some, Pete had a knack of saying smart assed remarks to pissed her off and make her want to smack him.

“Don’t know how it is you sweet talked Tessa into feeding you. She has enough on her plate. Just be happy I was in the neighborhood or you’d be starving.” Any normal man would thank you, but no, not Pete; he just kept shoving food into his mouth.

“I didn’t mean to put anyone out. Tessa knows she doesn’t have to bring me food every day.” He gave her one of his slow winks. “Just every other day. Course, if it was you bringing my poor hapless stomach food, I’d expect twice a day.”

She snorted. The man was incorrigible.

“You’d starve then, because there is no way I’d bring you anything.” Hands on her hips she wondered why she was even arguing with him. There were things she needed to finish today and standing here trading barbs with him was not on her list.

“You’re breaking my heart, sweetness. You really are. Denying a man the pleasure of food is a felony.” He nodded his head as if what he was saying was the god’s honest truth. “To say your beautiful self wouldn’t bring me food, well now I’m truly hurt.” He was in full charm mode. The honey-coated words flowing from his mouth would more than cover the homemade roll he was chewing on.

“Aww, well then maybe I should do something to ease your pain.” The hungry look in his eye made her heart beat faster, but she knew the type and wanted nothing to do with him. To drill that idea home, she snapped her fingers and a pail of water spilled over his head and his lunch. “Feel better? Wouldn’t want you to have heat stroke would we?” She snagged one of the dill pickles from the basket and started laughing.

It started out like any other morning on the train.

Until I became mesmerized by the guy sitting across the aisle.

He was barking at someone on his phone like he ruled the world.

Who did the stuck-up suit think he was…God?

Actually, he looked like a God. That was about it.

When his stop came, he got up suddenly and left. So suddenly, he dropped his phone on the way out.

I might have picked it up.

I might have gone through all of his photos and called some of the numbers.

I might have held onto the mystery man’s phone for days—until I finally conjured up the courage to return it.

When I traipsed my ass across town to his fancy company, he refused to see me.

So, I left the phone on the empty desk outside the arrogant jerk’s office.

I might have also left behind a dirty picture on it first though.

I didn’t expect him to text back.

I didn’t expect our exchanges to be hot as hell.

I didn’t expect to fall for him—all before we even met.

The two of us couldn’t have been any more different.

Yet, you know what they say about opposites.

When we finally came face to face, we found out opposites sometimes do more than attract—we consumed each other.

Nothing could have prepared me for the ride he took me on. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for where I’d wind up when the ride was over.

All good things must come to an end, right?

Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.

Excerpt

Outside of the restaurant, Graham’s black car was already curbside. He must have had it waiting and called the driver when I went to the restroom.
“If you’re not going to come home with me, I insist on at least giving you a ride home to your place.”
“The subway is right around the corner. I’m good.”
He shot me an annoyed glance. “Give a little, Soraya. It’s a ride home, not a ride on my cock. And I think you know by now that I’m not a serial killer.”
“You’re so crass.”
He put his hand on the small of my back and steered me to the waiting open car door. I didn’t put up a fight. Graham was right, I was being stubborn while he had pretty much agreed to anything I demanded. Something told me it was a rare occasion when the man was this flexible.
When we arrived at my apartment, Graham walked me to the door.
“When will I see you again?”
“Well, tomorrow is Saturday, so I suppose maybe Monday on the train.”
“Have dinner with me again tomorrow?”
“I have plans.”
His jaw flexed. “With whom?”
We embarked into a lengthy stare off. His gaze was hard. When neither of us gave for a few minutes, he grumbled Christ under his breath, and before I realized what was happening, my back was against the door, and his mouth was on mine.
He kissed me as if he wanted to eat me alive. Before releasing my mouth, he took my lower lip between his teeth and tugged. Hard. With his lips vibrating up against mine, he spoke. “Don’t push me to my limit, Soraya.”
“Why? What will happen?”
“I’ll push back. And I’m trying not to do that with you.”
He was being honest, and I realized I should appreciate that. “To my sister’s house. It’s my niece’s birthday party. That’s where I’m going tomorrow night.
He nodded. “Thank you.”
It took every bit of my willpower to go inside and shut the door behind me. I leaned my back against the door, unable to remember the last time I was so hot and bothered. Maybe not ever. His mouth was sinful; the thought of what he could do with that wicked tongue other places on my body kept me in a state of arousal that bordered on frenzied. But it was more than that. The way he was so dominating and controlling, yet exercised restraint to respect my wishes, was the sexiest thing I’d ever seen. The man stimulated something that had been sleeping inside of me. I needed a glass of wine and an orgasm. Not necessarily in that order. If I was going be firm on my stance that we get to know each other and not have sex, then taking things into my own hands was absolutely essential.
In my bedroom, I stripped out of my clothes. I didn’t sleep naked every night, but tonight was definitely a bare evening. As I slipped into bed, my cell rang.
“Is phone sex on the table?” Graham’s voice was a needy rasp. Whatever cooling off my body had done since I left him on the other side of the door was instantly reheated. His voice could definitely speed things up for me. But…
“Sex is off the table. That should probably include all types of sex. Intercourse, oral, phone.”
He groaned. “Oral. God, I want to taste you. And feel that metal tongue ring on my cock. You have no idea how difficult it was to control myself tonight every time I caught a glimpse of that metal when you spoke. It’s like you’re taunting me with every word. What are you wearing, Soraya?”
That voice. I needed to record him saying What are you wearing, Soraya? So I could play it over and over again in a loop when I needed to satisfy my own needs. “I’m actually not wearing anything. I just got undressed and slipped into bed.”
“You sleep naked?”
“Sometimes.”
He actually growled. “Touch yourself.”
“I plan to. But I think I’m going to need both hands tonight. So I’m going to hang up first.”
“How long do you plan on driving me crazy, Soraya?”
“Good night, Graham.” I hung up without waiting for him to respond. Even though my body physically ached for the man, I wasn’t ready to open that door with him just yet. Although as I glided my hand down my body alone in my bed, the only thing I could think of was God, I wish it was his hand.

Synopsis

Love isn’t always bright and shiny.

Sometimes, it’s dirty and wrong, buried six feet deep in a secret place where only wild things dare to go. Hidden behind a big black curtain that covers things no one should ever see.

Sometimes it happens between two people who should never be allowed to come together. One who is a match, and the other who just happens to be gasoline.

One strike is all it takes to burn the whole world down, and that’s exactly what they plan on doing.

Even if it kills them.

warning: this book contains graphic sex, extremely brutal violence, bad language, and people repeatedly and knowingly breaking the law.

Excerpt

Con finally unlocked the doors and she hefted herself into the massive vehicle. They sat in silence for a while, their breath fogging up the glass. Then he opened his mouth.

“Did he touch you?”

Dulcie knew he wasn’t asking about the homeless man.

“Not in any way that counts,” she replied, turning to look at him. His hands had moved to grip the steering wheel.

“So he has touched you.”

“Jared was just an experiment, I wanted to see if -”

“You let him fucking touch you.”

You fucking left me!” she was suddenly screaming. He didn’t even flinch, just gripped the steering wheel harder. “You fucking left me in this fucking town, without a goddamn goodbye! Without a goddamn word! God, you have no idea what it’s been like. That fucking camera, all those drawings. And there’s all these people, and talking, and feeling this way, and all the blackness, and I don’t even know what’s wrong with me, and nothing. You come back, and it’s like nothing to you. Oh hey, Dulcie. Where’s your sketchbook, Dulcie. Come to a party, Dulcie. Let me just fuck this chick in the woods, Dulcie. So you know what? Yeah, he fucking touched me. I let him fucking touch me. And I hated every minute of it, and I would pretend it was you, and I would hate you, and I would hate myself, and I just let it happen.

Con lunged across the seat, and absurdly, her first thought was “wow, he’s really fast” before his fingers wrapped around her throat. She wasn’t fazed, though, and she pushed right back, slapping him across the face. This only caused him to clench both hands around her neck and he yanked her forward, dragging her to him so their faces were only inches apart.

“Stupid little Dulcie,” he whispered, his breath hot against her lips. She held onto his wrists and glared at him, but didn’t try to pull away. His fingers got tighter. “So scared of the big bad wolf.”

“I’m not … scared of you,” she managed to gasp out, but then his grip grew so tight he completely cut off her oxygen.

“Of course you aren’t scared of me. I’m not the wolf. You are.”

So that’s what was hiding behind the curtain. I wish you’d told me sooner, Con. We could’ve reveled in our darkness together.

It felt like a weight was lifted off her back. She’d been pretending for so long, and she hadn’t even realized it. Had conditioned herself to do it. It was easier to believe Con was the darkness, and she was simply drawn to it. Basking in his wake. But it was all a lie – she was every bit as dark as him. They were the same animal. She’d just been better at deceiving herself. And now they’d evolved into something else, into a new, higher being.

Her lungs were throbbing, screaming for oxygen. She could feel her pulse pounding behind her face. Her mouth was open, but she couldn’t make a sound. Black spots danced in front of her eyes, yet still they stared at each other. Recognizing each other, maybe for the first time ever.

Maybe for the last time.

What a way to die, looking into the face of this beautiful boy. What a gift.

Crazy woman living in an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since …, forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball – I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I’m clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there’s your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair – both a curse and a blessing – and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can’t understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

BLOG TOUR ~ Crossing The Barrier by Martine Lewis

Title: Crossing The Barrier

Series: The Gray Eyes Series #1

By: Martine Lewis

Publisher: BMJ Chanapi

Publication Date: March 22, 2016

Genre: Young Adult

High school student Malakai Thomas, star wide receiver of the varsity team, collides with band member Lily Morgan on his way to football practice. As days go by, Malakai cannot get the petite clarinetist out of his head.

Lily Morgan can feel everyone’s emotions. She loses her ability to shield herself against them the day Malakai runs into her. Now she must try to maintain her sanity in the emotional jungle that is high school, as well as deal with her growing feelings for Malakai.

Can Malakai get over the social stigma and his own internal struggle to be with Lily? Is Lily’s secret too big to accept, even for him?

#1 – LILY

“I wonder what would happen if you lost your ability to shield.”

That simple question from Lily’s best friend, Sandra, almost got them killed. As Lily Morgan drove them to school for their band practice in her Mini Cooper, it took all of her limited driving skills to keep them on the narrow suburban road and not in the ditch.

“Let’s not ever mention this again!” Lily’s heart raced at the thought of it.

Sandra Jones was the best friend anybody could dream of. She was also everything Lily was not. She was outgoing, tall, and beautiful with her long, straight blond hair and blue eyes. She always wore the nicest outfits, and guys regularly asked her out on dates. She could have been part of the popular crowd had she wanted to, but she was perfectly content being in the marching band, just like Lily.

Sandra and her family, in addition to Lily’s uncle, Charlie, were the only people alive who knew what Lily could do; she had the ability to feel the emotions of the people around her. The only way for her to function and have a close to normal life was to build mental shields, which prevented the barrage of emotions from continuously assaulting her. Sandra knew how important shielding was to Lily, particularly in an emotion-infested place like high school.

“Just saying. I mean, you’ve been giving me the silent treatment since we left home. I had to find a way to make you talk.”

“Well, that’s not a good subject on a good day.”

“Then, what’s eating you?”

“My mother, again.”

“I don’t understand. Why don’t you take Charlie’s offer and move in with him?”

“It’s my house, Sandra. If anything, she should be the one moving out.”

“Not going to happen, not until the courts kick her out. You know that better than I do. She’s not going anywhere.”

Her friend was right, unfortunately.

“Can we move on to something else?”

“What did she want this time?” Sandra asked instead. “Another party to introduce you to your future husband?”

Lily nodded. She could easily imagine Sandra rolling her eyes, and if she hadn’t been driving, she was sure she would have seen her do exactly that.

“I don’t get it,” Sandra continued. “She’s not even your real mother.”

“I don’t get it either. Why does she keep throwing me at those guys?”

“Beats me,” Sandra said. “Did you say no?”

Lily remained quiet. She never said no. She still held the hope that if she did exactly what her mother requested, maybe one day she would approve of her.

Hope definitely made people stupid.

“When will you, Lily?” Sandra asked, turning toward her. “You deserve better than this.”

Lily sighed. She had tried to explain it numerous times before, but Sandra never understood. After all, Sandra’s mother loved her and was always so proud of her.

“David said football practice starts today,” Sandra said, changing the subject.

Lily felt her best friend’s eagerness at sharing the news, and she knew what was coming next.

“Malakai will be there.”

Ever since she had admitted to Sandra that she liked the star wide receiver over a year ago, Sandra brought him up every chance she had.

“Why don’t we talk about your love life for a change?” Lily suggested.

“Oh, no, we’re so not. Yours is so much more fun.”

It was Lily’s turn to roll her eyes. “So, what else did David say?”

“They should begin practice around nine this morning.”

“They have it so much easier than we do,” Lily said, turning onto the access road that led behind the school.

“You got that one right. If they practiced half as much as we did, they would wear paths in the football field.”

“That’s probably why we practice on hot, steamy asphalt,” Lily said as they arrived in the parking area.

“It sucks, really. Why don’t we get to practice their amount of hours and they, ours?”

“Because what we do is more complicated?” Lily suggested with a smile.

Sandra shrugged and glanced out the window.

“Look at it on the bright side.”

“There is one?” Sandra asked, irony coating her tone.

“No!”

They were both laughing when Lily pulled into her usual parking spot.

Chapter 1 *Molly*

“Molly, just give it more time. I’m sure you’ll conceive.”

I look up from the tasteless salad I’m just pushing around on my plate, not feeling even the least bit hungry. But a dinner out seemed like a lot more fun than sitting in the penthouse condo alone all night for the fourth time this week. Phillip’s working late. Again. Something that’s becoming a little too normal for my liking.

It’s his place, even though the condo is ‘ours’. I still find it odd calling it home, though we’ve been married and living in it for a year. But I don’t think anything has ever felt like a real home before. Not like the ones I’ve dreamed of, anyway. It still feels like it’s his more than it’s mine. We still haven’t gotten around to finding a house. The house that will be the home I’ve always wanted. Longed for and dreamed about for most of my life. Phillip seems excited about it, but it keeps getting put on the back burner, and I’m starting to think I am, too.

Cindy places her hand on my arm, giving it a comforting squeeze. Everyone knows we’ve been trying to have a baby from the moment we said “I do.” I wasn’t great about hiding how excited I was about starting a family, and Phillip had encouraged me to be more vocal about it, to see it as a reality. He’d started to make these little dreams I had in my head come alive. It was all a part of the fairy-tale dream I’d fallen into the moment I’d met Phillip.

Young girl falls madly in love with her father’s new business partner, and he sweeps her off her feet in a whirlwind marriage. The press ate the story up. Millionaire Phillip Tanner finally tying the knot. Not only that, but with his new business partner Charles Moore’s daughter. Their partnership brought together two of the biggest hedge fund firms in the country, and it was believed they would be unstoppable together. They have been.

I smile at Cindy, giving her a reassuring look. “I know. When I’m supposed to get pregnant, I will.” I’m not even sure if having a baby right now is something I want anymore, which feels odd because having a family is all I’ve ever wanted.

I wanted all of it. The whole white picket fence, two-point-five kids, and a husband who adored me. I had the adoring husband—when he was around, anyway. I could deal with not being the center of his attention, but I didn’t want that for our children. I’d been a child with a father like that, and I wouldn’t do that to my children. I’d never bring them into a home that never really felt like a home at all.

I can deal with it. I love my husband, and I know he loves me, but it’s been crazy lately, and I worry that maybe it isn’t just work that’s keeping him away. Maybe it’s me. What if I don’t hold the same appeal I once did? What if the novelty has worn off in the same way it seemed to with my own parents? I grit my teeth, trying to push that insecurity back.

But that just doesn’t add up, not with the way Phillip touches me. He makes love to me every night when he crawls into bed, even after a long day at work. He can’t go to sleep without having me first.

Except last night. I don’t know when he got home, and that was a first. I fell asleep before he got home and woke with him kissing me goodbye early this morning. He said he had a big meeting to prep for and that he’d tell me about everything this weekend.

“Is there something else? You don’t seem your normal self.” Cindy releases the hand she had on my arm to study me. She’s very good at reading people. In fact, she told me the first time we met that we’d be good friends, and we have been.

And she’s right. There is something else. The very thing that’s started to plant little seeds of doubt in my mind. The thing that has me thinking a lot more about all those long work hours over the past month.

“He got a new secretary,” I finally spit out, knowing Cindy would get it out of me, so there was no use hiding it.

“Oh, I heard Debra retired.”

I nod. Yep, Debra left over a month ago and moved to Florida to enjoy her retirement with her husband. I loved that woman. She was always so sweet, and whenever I called or stopped by, she made it seem like the most important thing was my seeing my husband, no matter what he was doing. Everything else would be put on hold and meetings would be interrupted.

The new one, not so much.

“Don’t even say it.” Cindy leans back in her chair, her auburn hair swaying around her face.

I can’t even say it. It’s so cliché, I can’t let the words pass my lips. She looks the cliché, too. Tall, thin, big blue eyes, and blonde hair that always seems to be utterly perfect. Just like everything about her. Every hair always in place, and she walks around in five-inch heels all day long. I’d break my neck. It’s like she doesn’t even have to try.

“In fact, I’m not even going to let you say it. I mean, this is Phillip, for Christ’s sake.” She laughs like I’ve lost my mind. “The man is in love with you. I know you don’t know the pre-Molly Phillip, but I do.”

Cindy is one of my only friends in New York, and I’d met her through Phillip. It’s really how I met everyone here. I went from living in a boarding school, straight to college and right into Phillip’s condo. All my family and friends were thousands of miles away in Seattle.

“He was boring…well, he still kind of is.” She smirks like she just gave him a jab that he could really hear. “All work and no play. Until you. Why do you think the press went so wild? They’ve been trying to catch him with a woman for years, then he’s running all over town with one. Trust me, he’s not boinking the secretary. I’ve known him since college, and I’d never even seen him date until he met you.”

I know that’s true. I’d done my shameful Google search the first time I’d met him. It had come up with nothing. Never in a million years did I think he’d show interest in me. He is ten years older than me. I was barely twenty at the time we met. Some said he only did it to make his partnership with my father more solid. I never once thought that. He’d made me feel special, something no one had ever made me feel before. To be the center of someone’s world was so foreign to me. I ate it up. Now that some of that center had shifted back to his work, things started to feel a little bit lonely again. Loneliness was a feeling he’d taken away from me the moment I’d met him. I don’t like it creeping back into the edges of my life again.

We’d dated for two months in secret, until my twenty-first birthday, then we’d come out as a couple and married one month later. He even made us wait until our wedding night before he took me fully. From the very start we both talked about wanting a family, and he said he never wanted anything between us, so we’d wait.

Well, we’d waited to go all the way at least. Phillip spent many nights with his mouth on me. Telling me all the things he’d do when I’d finally say “I do.” I can’t count how many nights he’d sneak into my room at my father’s house after they’d gotten done with some late-night meeting in my father’s office. I’d go to bed alone and wake up to Phillip’s face between my legs. Some nights he’d go at me like he was starving. Other nights he’d make me promise over and over I was going to marry him before he’d finally give me what I need. He’d never let me return the favor. The closest I’d gotten to his cock before our wedding night was dry-humping, and his pants never came off or undone.

But do men really go months without sex? I push the thoughts away.

“I know. I’m being silly. I know he loves me. She’s just so freaking rude when I call or show up. I swear every time I see her she’s thrusting her giant boobs in his face or doing that stupid high-pitched laugh. Every time I call, she has some reason Phillip can’t take it. Every. Time.” I know all this, together with him working so much and me feeling alone in this giant city has morphed into this giant insecurity I’ve been feeling for the past few months.

“Say something,” Cindy snaps, leaning forward, her blue eyes narrowing like they always do when she’s squaring up for a fight. It’s what she often does in the courtroom.

“I know I should. I’ll speak to him about it. Just sometimes I feel a little out of place. I’m so much younger than everyone, and I know he’s running a company and I don’t want to be the needy, clingy wife who’s insecure.” I sometimes feel a little lost in his world, and it would be a lie if I didn’t think back to times I’d interrupted some of my father’s meetings, only to get snapped at and made to feel unimportant. I have a degree in art history, and I’m proud of that, but sometimes I felt a little lacking. But I know that’s my own doing. Phillip has never talked down to me or tried to exclude me from anything, but old insecurities run deep sometimes.

“Fuck that,” she tosses back, making me smile. One of the reasons I’ve gotten so close to Cindy is she isn’t like a lot of the other women I’ve met in New York. Nor is she like the wives of some of Phillip’s business associates. She always says what she’s thinking, and I want that to rub off on me.

“That man will be pissed if he finds out that his secretary is treating you like shit. In fact, I bet he’d can her ass on the spot if he even got a hint she was doing something like that.”

I know what she’s saying is true. I once told Phillip in passing I didn’t think the doorman at the building we lived at liked me very much. Anytime I’d try and ask him a question about something, he’d get short with me and tell me that I shouldn’t be out without my husband. He would make constant digs about my age, like I didn’t belong in this world. He’d amped up the disrespect when he hit on me one morning after Phillip had left early for the office. I’d shot him down quickly. Needless to say, after I told Phillip what had happened, I never saw the man again.

“You’re right. I’m making this all out to be bigger than it is and I just keep throwing dirt on it.” I grab my purse from the chair, making Cindy smile. “You mind?” I ask. We hadn’t even gotten our main entrée yet.

“Hell no.”

I stand and lean down to kiss her on the cheek.

“Call me. I want to know all the details.”

With that, I head out of the restaurant and onto the busy New York sidewalk. Glancing down at my watch, I see it’s already eight. I make my way down to his building, which is only four blocks away.

Red, the security guard, swipes me right in as I make my way into the practically empty building. I hit the elevator button for the top floor and tap my foot as it moves up. When I exit, the hallway is completely clear. I walk to his office, bypassing the empty secretary desk, and pull open the heavy door.

The sight that greets me almost brings me to my knees, and it would have if I hadn’t had my hand still on the door to brace me.

There, in the middle of Phillip’s office, completely naked, is Cary. The secretary. Phillip is on the sofa, his face turned away, but I can see his tie is undone and his shoes are off. His suit looks worn and wrinkled. Cary just stares at me in shock.

“You can have him.” I’m not even sure how I get the words out. I turn, fleeing the office. I hit the elevator button and luckily it slides open immediately. I take it all the way down in a trance, trying to hold myself together. You will not break like this. I suck in a deep breath, trying to calm myself.

“Mrs. Tanner,” Red calls after me, seeing the tears running down my face. I grab the first taxi I see and head straight for our condo. I don’t stop to think about what I’m doing. It feels like I’m in shock.

I pack a bag in record time, scribble a note, and shoot a quick text to Cindy before I drop my phone and ring on the kitchen counter.

Maybe Cindy doesn’t know Phillip as well as she thinks. Maybe everyone thinks he’s boring because he’s good at hiding his true nature. My father’s good at hiding his dirty little secrets, too, but like most things, you just need to look a little closer. That’s when everything becomes clear. “God, you’re so naïve,” I whisper to myself.

I take the subway to the train station, where I buy a ticket on my credit card, then pull out as much cash as my cards will allow. I then grab a cab to the bus station. I want to get away for a little while and get my head on straight before I face him. I know he’ll track me down and find me if I don’t cover my tracks well enough.

I look up at the list of destinations and pick a place I hope he’ll never think of.

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

I’m fast becoming a fan of Alexa Riley – the girls books give us exactly what they say they will in their blurbs… Their stories are OTT, full of insta-love, over possessive/over protective alpha leading men, palpable attraction, sensuality and smokin’ hot sex – and MR AND MRS didn’t veer from this path!

I really liked both characters -the chemistry and obvious love they had for each other was powerful. Yeah, Phillip was obsessed with his wife and his behaviour was verging on caveman at times but I still fell for him. Molly was younger than Phillip but she’s just as taken with her new husband, in her own way – but lately she’s been feeling lost, lonely and uncertain about their relationship and when she sees something that breaks her heart she can’t deal and runs.

Phillip finally finds her but she’s been in an accident and has no memory of events beforehand so he takes his chance to win her round, make her fall for him and get her back for good!

There was a touch of angst but in the main, the story focused on our couple, their relationship and resolving the problem that they were dealing with.
A great short read full of all the elements the AR gals are very good at!!
I’m giving MR AND MRS 5 OTT *****.

BLOG TOUR ~ Superstitious Feelings by LJ Winters

 Title: Superstitious Feelings

Series: Soul Scavengers #3

By: LJ Winters

Publication Date: April 8, 2016

Genre: Ghost Hunters/Romance

Sullivan Wilde finds himself alone and wondering just what happened.

Olivia Emerson finds herself on the other side of the country without the Ghost Man, facing down her greatest personal demon in the flesh.

When Sullivan gets a video clip of the Soul Scavengers team’s latest investigation, he’s stunned. Tracking Olivia down, he rushes to make it to her side before the Devil Himself can swoop in and destroy everything Sullivan holds precious.

What was supposed to be a thrilling paranormal investigation at an archaeological dig site inside the spooky Superstition Mountains, turns into the team’s worst nightmare. This time, it isn’t the dead that threaten Sullivan and Olivia. Lost gold, a doomsday cult, and an old enemy all plot against them as they fight to stay alive.

“Twin flame?” he asked, and placing the pictures on the nightstand he turned to face her.

“It’s another way of saying, your soul mate. You’re my soul mate Sullivan, and I’m yours.” She nestled closer to him on the bed, her hand resting on his knee. “It’s said that Twin Flames meet lifetime after lifetime, sometimes as lovers, sometimes in other family incarnations. I truly believe we’ve been married to each other’s souls for a millennium or more.”

“How?  Like husband and wife?”

“Not exactly. I could have been your father, you could have been my brother or sister. You could have been my wife and me your husband sometimes. The common belief is that it varies. However, a few times in our earthly incarnations when we were lucky, we got to be lovers. Like we are today.”

“Fascinating.” His slow, sexy drawl created an uncontrolled tailspin inside her belly, and Olivia found her carnal-self needing him in the worst possible way.

“Yes. It really is. You and I are old souls, Sullivan. Children of the stars,” she told him, ghosting her hand down his arm. “You just had to wait a few years for me to catch up to you in this life. I’m just sorry for taking so long.”

Lisagh J. Winters is an emotional writer who loves pitting determined women up against hard, difficult to love men.

Her stories read much like watching your favorite TV drama, where POV can sometimes head hop here and there, but you’re always sure where you stand.

Intriguing, strong-willed characters, their push-me-pull-you relationships and an uphill battle of wills are what drives Lisagh’s emotionally rich tales. Angst is her middle name.

When not glued to her laptop, she enjoys life with her husband, three dogs and seven cats. She also loves interacting with her readers on Goodreads and Twitter!

Advertising executive by day.
Porn addict by night.
Plunge.xxx is my guilty pleasure. Like the website tagline says it’s straight up P.O.R.N. There’s no wining and dining or foreplay involved. It’s just what I need.
Little did I know that one impulsive message would lead the sites main attraction into my life in more than just my wet dreams.
This is a short happily ever after steamy novella, containing insta-love.

Excerpt

“So, Sam,” Jane says through the laughter and chatter of the other patrons, “I’ve been thinking about this all day. When was the last time you got laid?”
“Too far back to remember,” I reply, reaching for the new shot glass sitting in front of me. I throw it back and it burns my throat as it warms my body. “But I do watch a shit-ton of porn,” I blurt out before I can stop myself.
“NO SHIT! I did not see that coming. Really?”
“Yeah, I have a mild addiction.” I can’t believe I’m admitting this out loud. Must be the booze. “Ever hear of Plunge.xxx?”
Her mouth falls open with my admission. “Isn’t that the site where people post all their fantasies and shit?”
“Something like that.” I shrug.
“Show me.”
With all my inhibitions gone, I reach for my phone in my purse and pull it out. “There,” I say, flashing her the screen to the home page. She shakes her head at me.
“Not good enough, Sam. Show me the good stuff.” Her lip quirks up into a sinful grin. I let out an audible sigh and start to type.
“Here, happy?” I say, thrusting the phone in her face.
Her pupils dilate rapidly. “Holy shit. This is hot. God, look at that cock! Oh my God, it says it’s his… Damn it.”
“What?”
“No face image, but dude… From his body alone he looks hot. Oh my God, Sam. You need to totally hit that.”
“What the fuck are you talking about? I can’t “hit” that,” I say while air quoting.
“Of course you can. Here, look.” She types something on my phone and shows it to me. My heart starts to pound in my chest as I read what she has typed. Is that really a picture of your cock? Because it’s beautiful. I snatch the phone from her hand and try to undo the message but it’s too late. The message has been sent.

Running was all I ever did. I tried to get away from a man that hurt me and I
ended up in the path of a temptation that I couldn’t resist.
I wanted Raef more than my next breath, but he didn’t want me.
I tried like hell to fight my attraction towards him, but I couldn’t.
He was everything I wanted and everything I never knew I needed.

Raef

My old man was punishing me for God knows what.
He sent me down to Sacramento to clean up their mess and instead I ended up finding her.
She’s like a damn breath of fresh air in this otherwise suffocating life.
My attraction to her can land me on the wrong side of a gun, but it’s a chance I’m willing to take.
She’s a temptation that I can’t ignore and one that I don’t regret.

EXCERPT

When my eyes finally land on him, I see him watching me. He’s even more handsome than I thought. Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath before I open them, and actually look at him.

The grin on his lips makes me nervous, and part of me is unsure of what I’m supposed to do right now.

“Please take a seat,” he finally says. He motions his hand towards the chair next to him. A part of me is afraid to walk by him, so I take the long way around to the other side of the table. I pull the chair out a few feet before I take a seat.

“I won’t bite darlin’,” he drawls out. He gets a devious grin on his face, and I know that he’s probably used that line to get plenty of women in his bed at night.

“Does that line work on all the girls?” I ask with an eyebrow raised. I don’t know where that snottiness came from, but I am mentally high fiving myself right now. I can’t believe that I just said that to him.

I watch as his eyebrow raises, and he smirks at me. “Typically I just tell them how big my dick is, and they practically drop to their knees in front of me.” I scrunch up my nose, and his smile widens even more. “What are you afraid of a big dick?”

I shake my head no, and look at my hands in my lap. I can feel him lean in closer to me, and as much as I want to pull away, I stay right where I am. I won’t let him scare me, or make me nervous. I’ve dealt with someone far worse than him for long enough.

His hand cups my face, almost in a loving manner, and he forces me to look at him. “What kind of trouble are you in?” His voice is soft, almost like he’s trying to make me comfortable. His eyes search mine, and I swear it’s like he already knows the truth.

“I want to help you, but I can’t if you don’t tell me the truth. All of it,” he runs his thumb along my bottom lip, and as much as I want to pull away, something about his touch soothes me. Leaning into his hand, I mentally prepare myself to tell him what I’ve gotten myself into.
