“You two,” I point to JT and his partner-in-crime Joseph Lee. “Where were you last night?” They’re both green around the gills and their faces are as gray as the sky on a rainy day. “And don’t lie to me.”

Joseph sighs heavily, tilting his head back, speaking as he does. “We were at a field party.”

There’s a loud groan that runs through the kids. “Shit.” Someone whispers. 

“And what else was going on there last night, JT?”

He huffs loudly. “We were drinkin’.”

“And who all was there? I want a show of hands right now. Every single one of you who were there, even if you weren’t drinking. There should be zero parties on a school night, not during basketball season. Not when we’re going for a damn state championship. Raise ’em up. Be men, not boys.” All but three hands go up. “Are these three telling the truth?” There are murmurs of yes, that they’re being honest. “Alright, you three can go. The rest of you? You’re gonna find out why it sucks to party the night before school. I want suicide drills, until I tell you to stop.”

“Coach,” JT holds his stomach. “I will puke.”

“Then you’ll puke.” I give him a look. “I don’t care. You’re gonna give me your apology in the sweat you put on this floor.”

BLP REVIEW – Tracy

Oh Lordy….. I finished this in less than a day, I was hooked, totally invested and NEEDED to find out how things were gonna work out for the main characters.

I love me a Laramie Briscoe book and when I heard she was writing a new small town series with Chasity Bowlin I was intrigued. These ladies did not disappoint, this was a fantastic start to The Bellehaven Hotties!!!

This had all the tropes I’m currently loving – second chance, secret pregnancy, mc’s still feeling ALL the feels for each other – there’s a tons of heat and a palpable connection between Cody and Em even after so much time apart, though they’re both keeping secrets and everyone (and their dog, hey, it’s a small town after all!!) have questions about how things are gonna go.

I liked both Emma & Cody and Troy was a really good guy. JT was your atypical teen, trying to find his place and while some of his actions made me want to yell at him (I’m mum to a 21yo, I’ve been there 🙄🙃) I got it but, all in all, he was a pretty good kid!!!!
I’m looking forward to seeing how this family works throughout the series.

I’m gonna love this series, I just know it from reading One Night Slam and I’m already itching for book 2… soooooo much heat, snark and definitely some intense feelings between our next 2 MCs!!!!
