Having worked in the optical industry for some time, K E Osborn decided it was time to leave the optical world behind and start on something new. Before I could react, he had pried my legs apart and was working along my inner right thigh, moving slowly upward. By now, my reservations were gone and I surrendered to him. I adore MC books, and over the last couple of weeks have been devouring them at a rapid rate. Most were by established authors and a continuation of an existing series but this one was a lovely surprise, a debut book by an author who shows real potential.

Let’s start with Kat – after the accident she hides herself away, unable to cope with the outside world of intrusive paparazzi and fans. Lost and adrift with no focus to her life if she can no longer sing. She moves into her mothers’ house, totally unaware that the MC President lives next door and that the club had a close relationship with her mother.
Then there’s Dane – the Prez – my very favourite type of tall, tatted alpha. Oh yes please, gimme some of that man!!
After a year of just watching over Kat for her safety he’s done waiting for an introduction – there are issues to be sorted connected with Kat’s mother and he just wants to get to know her in every way possible!
What both are unaware of is that a stalker has Kat in his sights and will not stop until he has her.
There is plenty of chemistry between Kat and Dane. The relationship was not always as developed as I would have liked but a damn good start. The suspense aspect with the stalker was well done with a misdirection that keeps you guessing.
Blood is not the only tie that creates family, friendship and love do and Kathleen Kelly shows this really well. To Kat, the band is family and obviously to Dane his MC Brothers are his and in the interactions between them all, both separately and together, the love and affection shines through. I really liked the fact that the band and MC on meeting both become one huge dysfunctional unit, teasing and abusing each other but whose only priority is the safety of Kat.
There are a lot of secondary characters in this book but I would love to see more Judge, he intrigues me!
On the whole a very enjoyable read introducing the world of the Savage Angels and Grinders to us, the only spoilers for me was a little overkill on the amount of POVs used and the author’s dialogue style was a little disjointed with the grammar sometimes. As a debut it’s a solid one and I have no doubt that as this author gains more experience she will be one to look out for.

Brooke: Dear Santa, I’ve been really good for the last twenty minutes that I’ve been writing these answers, so let’s just focus on that, shall we? P.s. – I’ll leave you dark chocolate bacon cupcakes instead of stale cookies this year if you put our book in everyone’s stockings.

I’m a big fan of Ella Frank’s work and was intrigued when I heard she had collaborated with a new author, Brooke Blaine, on a series. When I read what it was about, my interest was definitely piqued!!
We are first introduced to Evan James the morning after a lengthy ‘banging session’ with a mystery blonde, and you get from the 1st chapter that he craves sex in a majorly big way!!!
“The visual mitigated part of the craving deep inside – the one that insisted he reach out and take. And take. And take. Never satisfied. Thirst never quenched.“
Mr James is a sex addict who moves from one ‘warm hole’ to another on a very regular basis, no repeats, no relationships, just a very regular, very much needed release that has him at its mercy!!!! This addiction and his decidedly unwise choice of ‘fixes’, has already cost him his job and it seems he’s extremely close to losing everything else as his addiction continues to spiral out of control!!!
When we think or read about addiction, it’s usually along the lines of drug or alcohol addiction. We’ve seen the devastation, pain and misery that these 2 things alone can cause, but ‘A Desperate Man’ gives us a little taste of what an addiction to sex (be it the actual act, self fulfilment in some way – and jeez, does Evan have some interesting ways to ease the NEED – or his constant thoughts about getting off…)
We find out that Evan’s life is on a very bleak path to self destruction…. and it appears he’s got no way of grabbing on to a life line..
One scene in particular lets you see just how far down the rabbit hole Evan has fallen!
But then life throws him a little twist, hell, more of a bloody curve ball…. in the shape of Blondie…. but will this be his salvation or the final step on his path to self-destruction?!?!?!?
I’m not into spoilers or rehashing a story so all I’ll say is – if you’re looking for a story that’s a little different, a bit dark, intriguing and really quite addictive, pick up a copy of ‘A Desperate Man – The Fantasy’ and fall into the world of Evan James – I’ve got a feeling it’s gonna be quite a ride!!!!! 😉

I read ‘It Ain’t me Babe’ earlier this year and loved it. In a severely over-populated genre, Tillie Cole had a different story to tell that was incredibly thought provoking but she has taken that story to another level in ‘Heart Recaptured’ and blew me away.
This story is brutal, raw, gritty and not for the faint hearted. Lilah and Ky’s journey is poignant, passionate and tragic. A tale as beautiful as it is broken, horrifying in parts, difficult to read and understand but so incredibly well done and worth it.
A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin.
Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve’, Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a ‘protection’ she strongly resents.

Lilah broke my heart, shredded it towards the end. As the book progressed I went from being annoyed at her – screaming in my head “get a fucking backbone girly“ to being shocked at the events that stole her childhood and made her the Delilah she is – to then being a total fucking mess continuing to read, completely unable to put it down while horrified at what I was reading.
When I finished it all made total sense, those events had to happen for the conclusion, they had to happen for Lilah to be a Lilah she wanted to be, to be in a place with a person she could be whole with, but fuck me it’s a hard one to read and stays with you.
Tillie Cole has taken some very taboo topics and told them with such sensitivity and insight that even though I normally like a stronger heroine, a Mae, I had the feels for Lilah. I was rooting for a HEA for her while believing as events unfolded that no way was she going to get it because life was so cruel to her, she was so brainwashed, naïve and broken without even knowing it.
Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. AAAHHHH Ky – How I wanted to strangle him with his intestines and chop his cock off at many many points in this book! Which is really a double standard on my part because he is as much a product of his childhood as Lilah is. His Dad’s motto –
“pussies are to be licked good and fucked hard – never worshipped”
Ky knows no different than this life of whoring, violence and freedom. When forced to babysit and introduce Lilah to the outside world he’s really woefully ill-equipped to do it, yet they develop a connection beyond the purely physical attraction which is its own kind of miracle given how colourful Ky is when he explains life to her!
“Lesson two, there is more to life than being caged in a protective bubble. You had it at that cult; now you’re locking yourself away here. Gotta take life by the balls at some point and squeeze those fuckers with the skill of a whore.”
Ky has a journey in this book just as much as Lilah but maybe not as obvious – he’s the whoring, smart ass biker, him and his huge ego romping through life, until Lilah.
“Fucking was easy. It was this intimacy between two people that destroyed your heart so you couldn’t see anything else but the bitch before you, giving you something you never knew you even needed.”
And that’s the key for me, never knew you needed. Neither one knew they needed, from such different worlds living such different lives that intersect unexpectedly and become something beautiful when joined.
Heart Recaptured has the Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the Crazy and the Broken all in one of the most heart breaking, thought provoking, beautifully broken stories you could hope to read. The religious aspect won’t be for everyone, Ky’s total overuse of the word Bitch won’t be for everyone but in my personal opinion this dark story is a special one and Tillie Cole is just getting better and better.
And I can’t not mention Flame and Maddie who must be one of the most eagerly awaited couples of next year – every time he is in a scene he steals it – the crazy bastard and their fascination with each other is going to develop into quite the story I am sure…..
