I should never have touched her. I didn’t know she’s my best friend’s little sister. When I found out… well… My life went off the rails, and we didn’t see each other again.
Now three years later, we’re in the same small town, and she hates my guts. But when her ex won’t take no for an answer, it’s me she improbably reaches out to for help.
Sure we can fake a relationship to keep him off her back. We’ve done it before. Except there’s nothing fake about the heat between us. Or the very real threat from my past that’s the true reason I ghosted her. Maybe she’ll finally give me the chance to explain.
I’ll do anything to protect her, even face down her brother for a second chance.

BLP REVIEW – Tracy
I’ve been looking forward to this book since I read ‘One Fine Night, when Ciara & Alex initially met.
Ciara is still hurt that Alex ghosted her after the night they shared and promises they made the next morning. When she sees him again that hurt and heartbreak is reinforced and she is determined to avoid him as much as possible – which isn’t gonna be easy in the small village they now both call home.
Alex, for his part, didn’t ‘ghost’ the girl he still thinks about without, in his mind, good reason…. a lot of which he can’t tell Ciara given the nature of events that have happened in the past few years since they last saw each other.
Ciara is moving on from a relationship she probably shouldn’t have even started except her ex isn’t taking the hint. In a desperate attempt to get this guy to leave her alone, she spots Alex and tells her ex that they’re in a relationship. What she didn’t consider in the moment was just how small towns talk and how fast gossip spreads. This sees the pair faking a relationship until things quiet down and she knows for sure that the ex has gotten the message.
While they are ‘pretending’ they’re together things between our MCs start heating up, they grow closer and things are looking like they could be heading in the right direction, finally…. until a series of unexplained incidents take place that threatens to destroy what they’re steadily building.
Loved meeting Alex’s friends and finding out about the business they are looking to open in the village. Catching up with the gang from the Kilted Hearts series was fun. The mystery and suspense added to the story and overall it was a great read.
I’m excited about the rest of the series.

About Book Loving Pixies
“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” ― Stephen King My favourite genre is PNR - yep, more than happy to admit that I’m a bit of a #parawhores...... but small town is a very close second!!! In saying that, I’ll read and review a real mix of genres - from the better known authors to new-to-me authors and everything in between. I hope you enjoy the posts and that they might lead you to some ‘new to you’ authors. Thanks for stopping by.
