If I tell you right up front, right in the beginning that I lost him, it will be easier for you to bear. You will know it’s coming, and it will hurt. But you’ll be able to prepare.

Someone found him in a laundry basket at the Quick Wash, wrapped in a towel, a few hours old and close to death. They called him Baby Moses when they shared his story on the ten o’clock news – the little baby left in a basket at a dingy Laundromat, born to a crack addict and expected to have all sorts of problems. I imagined the crack baby, Moses, having a giant crack that ran down his body, like he’d been broken at birth. I knew that wasn’t what the term meant, but the image stuck in my mind. Maybe the fact that he was broken drew me to him from the start.

It all happened before I was born, and by the time I met Moses and my mom told me all about him, the story was old news and nobody wanted anything to do with him. People love babies, even sick babies. Even crack babies. But babies grow up to be kids, and kids grow up to be teenagers. Nobody wants a messed up teenager.
And Moses was messed up. Moses was a law unto himself. But he was also strange and exotic and beautiful. To be with him would change my life in ways I could never have imagined. Maybe I should have stayed away. Maybe I should have listened. My mother warned me. Even Moses warned me. But I didn’t stay away.

And so begins a story of pain and promise, of heartache and healing, of life and death. A story of before and after, of new beginnings and never-endings. But most of all . . . a love story.

The Song of David

** This book is a STANDALONE novel featuring characters that were introduced in The Law of Moses.
It is not a sequel, but it is a spin-off. **

I won my first fight when I was eleven years old, and I’ve been throwing punches ever since. Fighting is the purest, truest, most elemental thing there is. Some people describe heaven as a sea of unending white. Where choirs sing and loved ones await. But for me, heaven was something else. It sounded like the bell at the beginning of a round, it tasted like adrenaline, it burned like sweat in my eyes and fire in my belly. It looked like the blur of screaming crowds and an opponent who wanted my blood.
For me, heaven was the octagon.

Until I met Millie, and heaven became something different. I became something different. I knew I loved her when I watched her stand perfectly still in the middle of a crowded room, people swarming, buzzing, slipping around her, her straight dancer’s posture unyielding, her chin high, her hands loose at her sides. No one seemed to see her at all, except for the few who squeezed past her, tossing exasperated looks at her unsmiling face. When they realized she wasn’t normal, they hurried away. Why was it that no one saw her, yet she was the first thing I saw?

If heaven was the octagon, then she was my angel at the center of it all, the girl with the power to take me down and lift me up again. The girl I wanted to fight for, the girl I wanted to claim. The girl who taught me that sometimes the biggest heroes go unsung and the most important battles are the ones we don’t think we can win.

About Sarah Cass

Sarah Cass’ world is regularly turned upside down by her three special needs kids and loving mate, so she breaks genre barriers; dabbling in horror, straight fiction and urban fantasy. She loves historicals and romance, and characters who are real and flawed, so she writes to understand what makes her fictional people tick. And she lives for a happy ending – eventually. And enough twists to make it look like she enjoys her title of Queen of Trauma Drama a little too much.An ADD tendency leaves her with a variety of interests that include singing, dancing, crafting, cooking, and being a photographer. She fights through the struggles of the day, knowing the battles are her crucible; she may emerge scarred, but always stronger. The rhythms to her activities drive her words forward, pushing her through the labyrinths of the heart and the nightmares of the mind, driving her to find resolutions to her characters’ problems.

Her first full length novel, Changing Tracks, is due to release in February with another novel set for release in April. While busy creating worlds and characters as real to her as her own family, she leads an active online life with her blog, Redefining Perfect, which gives a real and sometimes raw glimpse into her life and art. Beyond Innocence
Review

18392419

Blurb:

For years, Jared has existed on the fringes of both Eden society and Dallas O’Kane’s Sector Four gang. He travels between these worlds, protected by his money and power–money he earned selling his body, and power that comes from knowing secrets. He’s untouchable—until he starts a new life gathering intelligence for the O’Kanes.

Lili Fleming walked out of Sector Five with a gun, the bloodstained clothes on her back, and an icy determination to survive. She finds herself in a world where people live hard and love harder, and nothing’s more terrifying than how much the O’Kanes wake her up, make her feel—especially Jared.

Emotion is a risk he can’t afford, and a complication she doesn’t need. But neither can resist the lust simmering between them, and the sparks that could either melt the ice around both their hearts…or get them killed.

Because the only thing more dangerous than loving an O’Kane is loving a spy.

EXCERPTS:

“So how long have you been spying for Dallas?”

Cruz’s casual words startled Jared enough to throw him off balance. He almost missed blocking the man’s next blow, and wood scraped over wood as their staffs collided.

Jared spun around and tried to recover his composure. As tactics went, this one was murderously lethal—throw out something shocking, as boldly as possible, then take advantage of your opponent’s distraction to strike your killing blow.

“You’re a good soldier,” he murmured, tightening his fingers around his weapon. The staff was solid red oak—deadly and perfectly balanced. “I bet you’re an even better interrogator.”

“Not really.” Cruz planted his staff on the floor and met Jared’s gaze squarely. “My psych evaluations were consistently disappointing. I’ve always been burdened with an overabundance of empathy. The Base has plenty of soldiers not operating with that particular handicap.”

“I’ll keep that in mind.” Wiping his face with his arm did fuck-all to clear Jared’s vision, because every inch of his bare skin was dripping with sweat. He could make it through a solid hour of forms, no problem, but sparring with Cruz was a far more intense workout. “What gave me away?”

“Nothing obvious.” Cruz shrugged one big shoulder. “I doubt anyone else will notice. But I know a lot of people inside Eden, so I hear the gossip. And I watch you.”

“Good to know.” He made a rush, swinging one end of his staff up toward Cruz’s unprotected side. Cruz pivoted smoothly, his block effortless, his movements lazy as he flipped into a counterattack that pushed Jared back.

His next words were just as casual, just as easy. “I haven’t talked to Dallas about it. I figured if he wanted me to know, he’d have told me. Unless something was stopping him.”

“Not letting it go? Fine.” Jared tossed his staff aside with a sigh, and it clattered to the floor. “Ace can’t find out. That needs to be a promise.”

Cruz hesitated only a moment before nodding. “The fewer who know, the safer you are. But I need to know. If something goes wrong, I’m the one most likely to be able to get you out.”

“Bren’s on it.”

“Bren doesn’t have my connections.”

“Really, now?” So, quiet Cruz was the one with the friends in high places. “I’m impressed.”

“I can’t use them for information, not the kind Dallas needs. But if you get in trouble…” Cruz’s expression stayed serious. “Don’t underestimate how far I’ll go to protect Ace’s heart.”

Not just a promise, but a warning. “You took the words right out of my mouth. Which is why you need to stay the fuck out of it.”

“I’m not going to trip you up at fancy parties—or your new club. But you need to check in with us regularly.” Cruz swept up Jared’s abandoned staff and tossed it to him. “And I need to make sure you can kill a man with whatever’s handy.”

“Your newest project, huh?”

“I don’t want to get too soft living in all that O’Kane luxury.”

It wasn’t the high living on Dallas’s compound that was bringing out all of Cruz’s latent protective instincts—and that was exactly what this was, no matter how he tried to spin it. No, it was all that time he’d spent curled up between Ace and Rachel.

Caring. Once you let go and let yourself do it, it got to be a habit.

Jared kept his mouth shut for a few minutes, focusing instead on the careful coordination of his breathing and his muscles and the weapon in his hands, all moving in concert. But the words spilled forth anyway.

“It’s not so different,” he panted. “In my bedroom, or in a bar. Half the time, all I do is wait for them to say things they already want to say.” That much he understood now—the compulsion born of secrecy, how silence was its own sort of prison. The relief that came with being able to tell someone, anyone, all those things you were supposed to keep locked up.

“People want to be heard.” Cruz wasn’t as breathless, but he wasn’t moving so smoothly now, either. He blocked Jared’s advance only inches from his ribs and broke away to regain space to maneuver. “The bar’s a good idea. Eden’s elite are getting bored and reckless.”

Bored was one of Jared’s longstanding clients tripling her number of monthly visits. Reckless was the time she brought two friends with her, both the wives of powerful, devout men. Of true believers.

Bored and reckless. Separately, they made people dangerous. But together? Bored and reckless had toppled empires.

***********************************************

He didn’t say anything, just watched her for so long that the intensity would have terrified her if being the focus of his attention wasn’t thrilling in a different way. Finally, he sighed. “I don’t know what to do with you, Lili Fleming.”

Her heart lurched, and the words that spilled out were reckless—the most unguarded of her life. “What do you want to do with me?”

Again, the hesitation. “There are ways I could help you,” he admitted, rubbing his thumb over the bowl of his glass. “Ordinarily, I would have already offered. But somehow it seems complicated now.”

She watched his thumb make another slow sweep and couldn’t not imagine it smoothing over her skin. That was what he was talking about—he had to be. Touching her. Showing her the things her body wanted, even as her mind shrank away.

“That’s not why—” Her voice cracked, and she took a long sip of wine and wished it was whiskey. “I’m not asking you for that. I don’t know if I—if I could…” God, she couldn’t even say it, her tongue tangling around the mildest of euphemisms.

“I know you’re not asking.” He shrugged. “I guess that’s what makes it complicated.”

Because trades were simple. They never left you vulnerable. And he hadn’t really answered her question—he was so deft that she hadn’t noticed. “What do you want to do?” she repeated softly.

Jared held her riveted, so completely that she barely noticed when he moved. She couldn’t look away, even when he took the glass from her hand. Even when he laid his hands on her face, his fingers curled around her neck to hold her, and lowered his mouth to hers.

She’d imagined kissing. Mouths touching, lips brushing.

She’d imagined wrong, because Jared’s tongue was the first thing she felt, hot and shocking, as if he knew it would make her gasp. Because when she did, he went deeper, his tongue finding hers.

It was too much. Too fast, too intoxicating. Her entire body throbbed along with her racing pulse, and her knees felt unsteady. She clutched for the only steady thing she could find, grasping his upper arms to keep from melting through the floor.

Then his hands tightened, tilting her head back, urging her mouth open. His tongue swept over hers again, rough and rasping, and every tiny shiver of sensation built into an ache that settled between her legs. Not just an ache, a need, and she whimpered into his mouth.

Jared broke the kiss with a shudder and smoothed his thumb over her tingling lower lip. “See?” he whispered. “Complicated.”

She closed her eyes and tried to catch her breath. “Not sure that helped,” she said, an attempt to turn it into a joke. It had to be, or fear and longing would crash together and vaporize her. “I’m feeling all sorts of things now.”

“It doesn’t have to stop.” His hands trembled on her face. “But that’s your choice to make.”

An impossible choice—need or fear, pleasure or peace. And all of it shrouded in mystery, because she couldn’t reconcile the O’Kanes’ wild glee with her mother’s whispered warnings to lie still so it would be over faster.

“I don’t know.” She forced herself to look at him, to meet his patient, waiting eyes. “I don’t know anything. How can I make a choice when I don’t understand what you’re offering?”

“You’re right.” He smiled again and brushed her hair back from her forehead with a careful, gentle touch. “It’s not exactly fair, is it?”

She was still clinging to him. Slowly, shyly, she eased her grip until she was touching, instead. His arms were solid, muscle flexing as she rubbed her thumb against his sleeve and wondered if he felt the same spark of sensation. “When I was on the drugs, everything seemed so clear. I thought they were all pretending. I didn’t believe in pleasure.”

“And now?”

Now it would be like not believing in water while she was standing outside in the rain. This wasn’t some gentle mist, either. She was caught up in a storm, and she’d seen what heavy rain could do to the desert. The clay couldn’t absorb the water, and the riverbeds couldn’t contain it.

She wasn’t made for pleasure. Too much would sweep her away. “Now I’m scared.”

***********************************************

Lili’s world was on fire.

It was wrong. Watching Rachel and Ace and Cruz, imagining doing more than watching, and now this, her dress pushed up to her hips and her fingers pressed between her own thighs. Everything about this was wrong, start to finish.

And it felt so, so right.

This was the source of the ache that consumed her every time Jared touched her. His touch had always been too much, illicit and skilled and intimidating. Her own touch was clumsy by comparison, but even that had her shaking in moments.

Something was simmering inside her, something that made every brush of her fingers—their fingers—more dangerous and more necessary.

Jared’s breath blew over her ear. “You know this is what she wants, right?” He stroked his thumb over her cheek, guiding her gaze back to Rachel. “She gets off on being watched. And watching, I think.”

It explained so much. The warmth in Rachel’s eyes, the subtle tension in the store. Maybe Rachel hadn’t wanted to push, but the willingness was there. To let Lili watch, to help her understand the O’Kanes and their reckless pleasure.

Lili even understood gets off now—it was the culmination of pleasure, the moment this ache inside her boiled over. The only question was how hot she had to get before it happened.

Rachel had one arm wrapped around Ace’s neck, her eyes drifting shut only to snap open again. She moved faster, her chest heaving, and she clutched at Cruz with her other hand, her fingers wound through his hair as he reached between her and Ace.

With a jolt, Lili realized what he was doing. Touching Rachel, the same way Jared was guiding her to touch herself. But not tentative and easy—even in faint light, the shifting pattern of his tattoos highlighted the flex of muscle. Rachel’s response was immediate, her body arching as if the pleasure was so intense, she might fly out of her skin.

Blood pounding in her ears, Lili shifted her fingers, pressing more firmly. Sensation jolted through her, and she barely dug her teeth into her lower lip in time to hold back a moan.

The sharp sound of a zipper broke through her haze. “Do you do this when you’re alone, Lili?”

Shaking her head, she sagged back in the booth. The vinyl was smooth and cool against all the skin bared by her dress, but her own nakedness was inconsequential. The table shielded Jared’s movements from everyone else in the room—

But not from her.

He had freed his erection from his tailored pants. It jutted up into his hand, long and thick and impossibly big. It looked rough and delicate all at once, veined and throbbing but also soft, and she watched as he ran his thumb around the flared head.

Hazy nights spent at O’Kane parties had left her with a patchwork of blurry memories, of body parts and the ways they touched and came together. But she’d never wanted to look before. Now she couldn’t look away. She watched his elegant fingers slide along his length, and felt an answer throb beneath her own fingertips, as if he was somehow touching her, too.

So wrong. And so good.

“Harder, sweetheart.” He obeyed his own words, tightening his hand until his erection—his cock—jumped in his grip.

Her body was buzzing. Her nipples were tight, sensitive to the rasp of her dress, but she couldn’t touch them without the whole room seeing. It was a game, the kind she’d always been so good at. Control her expression, project calm. Smile, like she wasn’t brazenly touching herself beneath the table.

The thrill of it twisted her up. She let her thighs ease wider, until her knee bumped Jared’s, knowing he’d be the only witness as she slipped her fingers beneath the thin fabric of her panties and sought out slickness and heat.

He froze and shook his head. “Take them off.”

“What?”

“You heard me, Miss Lili.” His voice was low, steady—and wrapped in unmistakable command. “Take off your fucking panties.”

BLP REVIEW ~ Tracy

Sector 4 and the Beyond world is one of my favourite places ever… so I couldn’t wait to journey back to read Jared and Lili’s story.
Beyond Innocence, from the start, was a wild ride and then some (in more ways than one!!!! lol)

Secrets, lies and lovers that spy!!! Who would have thought that our Sector gigolo would be a secret agent – but then again, who better to find out lots of dirty secrets through pillow talk I suppose!!

This time round, the story was played out less in the O’Kane compound and more in the Sector and in Eden. It was very interesting indeed to see just how some things worked in the supposed Utopia on the other side of the wall. For me, this gave the book a slightly different feel from some of the others, but in a good way.

Gods, the book was still packed full of heat, passion, desire, down & dirty filthy sex and risqué shenanigans – and some of the scenes were so hot I swear to the gods that my kindle was beginning to melt…..fuck, if these books get ANY hotter they are gonna have to come with a safety warning and a free fire blanket – but the atmosphere in this book was also ramped up by the action, adventure and suspense that currently surrounds the O’Kane world and the sectors in general.

I really loved Lili, she was a stronger character than I expected but then, to survive the life she did in S5, she would have to be fairly tough.
Jared was fabulous – I always thought he’d be such a confident, quietly arrogant guy but we saw another side to him too throughout their story.
This wasn’t one of those times where the main characters fought their attraction ~ they didn’t rush it but they didn’t try to ignore it either.
Innocence was like a voyage of discovery for both our main characters.
They each saw something in the other that made them want…. want to feel, to fight, to love…… but seeing it, grabbing it and keeping it are all very different things, aren’t they?!

We caught up with some of the other O’Kanes – a few of who we saw more that a little of…. Remember, when Ace, Rach and Cruz are around, hold on to your hats!!

We got a little insight into the next book and the lead characters that we’ll read about.. and there were some interesting people introduced to us in this book that I’m sure we are gonna meet again in the future!

Another FANBLOODYTASTIC read – as ever. The girls have excelled themselves again!!!!!

For me, this is a thoroughly recommended book! **********

BOOK BLITZ ~ Closely Guarded Secret by Natalie Money

Many might envy Alixandra Quinn. She rubs shoulders with the rich and famous at glitzy society balls and fund-raisers as a photographer for a popular magazine. But, do the envious notice Ali always goes home alone? She has cut herself off from personal relationships and emotional entanglements. It’s a strategy to cope with her past, and for ten years, her strategy has worked.

That is, until she meets Bryce Steede, a young and bold Silicon Valley entrepreneur. When Ali becomes the center of his attention, suddenly her world gets turned upside-down. She may have convinced herself that life is fine the way it is, but he is determined to break down her carefully constructed walls, free her mind and body, and show her pleasures that she couldn’t have imagined.

As Ali navigates through this uncharted journey of self-discovery, she must find the balance between her head and her heart. Is Bryce just another heartache waiting to happen? Will a secret from her past come back to haunt her? Or will Ali make peace with her past and find true happiness . . .

I awaken with a jolt, thinking I’ve fallen out of my seat. As usual, when I fly, I end up scrunched all the way down on the seat as far as I can go. If I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt, I’d be on the floor. Did we hit something? Confused, I sit up, trying to assess the situation only to notice we’re in some awful turbulence. Angry, dark, purple to black rain clouds surround us. My heart starts pounding in my chest. The plane rocks side to side, bouncing us all over the sky. I pull out my earbuds hoping to hear the Captain’s voice saying everything’s okay.

Bryce pries my hand off the armrest and interlocks our fingers. I look over at him, my eyes wide with terror. He’s talking to me, trying to give me reassurance. The only thing going through my mind right now is how afraid I am.

“Shhh, it’s going to be okay, Ali.” He has such a soothing voice when he’s not being an ass. I try to say something, but I can’t speak. Nothing will come out of my mouth.

“Focus on me.” His thumb strokes the back of my hand. It’s serene and has an instant calming effect on me until we hit another pocket of air. Images of the Captain fighting for dominance over the weather and control of the plane against the storm flash through my mind. I know he’s doing all he can so we don’t spiral downward.

Other passengers cry out in panic. My head jerks back toward the window. I can barely breathe. I don’t want him to see me like this – raw emotions, so vulnerable. Weak.

He places his hand on my face, turning it towards him. “Don’t cry. I’ve got you. Just keep looking at me, okay?” He’s trying to calm me but the only thing I can do is nod. I tighten my grip on his hand and he lets me know it’s all right.

My heart is beating so fast, so hard, I can feel it in my ears and can hear each beat. Tears roll down my face and he gently wipes them away with his thumb. In this moment, as much as I despise him, I’m glad he’s here with me.

“I need you to take deep breaths. Can you do that? Do what I do, okay?” I watch his mouth and listen. We hit another pocket of air, but not as violent as the others. My eyes grow wider as more tears stream down my face.

“I’m here. I’m not going to let anything happen to you. Keep looking at me. Ali, I need you to focus on me and listen. Breathe with me.” All the while, he’s still stroking my hand.

When my breathing gets under control, he leans over the armrest wrapping me in a blanket of calm in the comfort of his arms. I collapse into him. My cries are silent as he holds me and strokes my hair. He inhales deeply, gripping me tighter.

Shakuita Johnson
The Willing Witness

Aubrey Jacobs, child genius, and aspiring lawyer, came from a very wealth family in Boston, MA. She had the perfect life and she believed in justice at all costs. On the way to her dorm room after another all-nighter spent in the library, she witnesses the murder of a seemingly random college kid. With her thirst for justice she contacts the police and tells them everything she saw and heard. Unknowingly to her, she just happened to witnesses an underground rivalry not many know about. With her life now on the line, because of her upcoming testimony that could put away a criminal from a family the police have been watching for years but could never pin anything on, Aubrey has been whisked away to the middle of no where New Mexico under the Witness Protection Program.

Nicholas Jennings had always been faster, could see better, could hear better, and could smell better than anyone else he knew. Raised by a single Father after his Mother dropped him off at his doorstep over 21 years ago. Because of his superior skills he was able to be one of the youngest United States Marshals. His first assignment is Aubrey Jacobs. As soon as he laid eyes on her something wild and primal called to him. He wasn’t sure what it was and he didn’t like it. A Marshall wasn’t supposed to develop feelings for his witness.

When people show up unexpectedly looking for Aubrey, not only does she get the shock of her life by being introduced to a whole new world she never knew possible, but so does Nicholas.

Ron Stelle

Little do these hapless mortals know but the fact is the eternal are looking for a few additions to there lot and a few meals to their souls…

E. L. R. Jones
My Fairy Darkness

There are those that believe that fairies are cute, dainty, little creatures that can be held in the palm of their hand. This is a gross misconception. We don’t flit around, spread pixie dust or any other crap like that. I, for one, wouldn’t be caught dead in those skimpy, slutty, attention grabbing outfits that she parades around in. We definitely aren’t off spreading love and whatever else that little twit stands for. I am nobody’s Tinkerbell.

Who I am is the reason for this tale? It wasn’t supposed to be like this. I didn’t think that it would get this bad. Yet, here I sit. I am sitting at the head of the table, watching an annoying little man make his way to the elders of our community to inform them of something I already know about. If I weren’t who I was, then I would’ve left already. Unfortunately, I am who I am and I have to give a damn.

I’m called Sapphire to those that know death and evil.

Arabella Gwin is a fairy unlike any other. This particular fairy would carve her name in your chest if you remotely asked about Neverland or Peter Pan. She lives a dangerous life until she has an unexpected meeting with Cobalt. What happens next even she couldn’t anticipate.

Kelsey D. Garmendia
The Good Doctor

Doctor Stevenson was at the top of his 1955 graduating class. His work as a doctor and scientist on stem cell research had the potential to be lifesaving for people nationwide—except for his young son.

After developing a rare blood disease at the age of five, his son died within a few months. The research gained from his loss won the doctor a spot in a Chicago hospital dedicated to experimental treatments for diseases like his son had. Though he would never be able to benefit from his research, the doctor hoped the new job would mend his family’s grief. That’s when the headaches started. A cat scan revealed a cancerous tumor festering inside his brain. Chemo was his only option. They said his life would get better. They said the treatment would work. But Doctor Stevenson knew his biological clock would fizz out one way or another—unless he could find a way to keep it ticking trapped in one of his patients’ bodies.

Suzy Ayers
Silent Stalker

Patricia Sinclair lives every day in debilitating abuse from her husband, Brad. She’s been trying to protect her three young children and an event brings her daily struggle with anxiety to a head. With the police not being extremely helpful, she is faced with the fear of trying to locate her children that he has kidnapped.

Patty has bumped into this “man” and she continues to sense more of this presence since she finds herself floundering and angry with the police for not being more useful. He has been lingering, and it both calms and arouses her. Calms her, because he claims that he will help her; arouses her, because she has not been touched by a man in many years and his feather-like touches are enough to send her off he edge. Her mind is clouded by her: desires, fears, and her duties.

Candy O’Donnell
Under The Bed

After moving into a new house, and in a new town, Alexander soon realizes things about the old place are strange. After experiencing paranormal activity such as dark shadows, an odd personality disorder with his younger brother, Gabe, Alexander finds himself on the hunt to find the answers to what is causing these things. When Gabe disappears Alexander will go to any length to find out where he went, even it is takes him under the bed to find him.

L.M Adams
Echoes of Time – Thread of Life

My name is Desmona Thompson, a fortuneteller by trade, most days. I dabble in this and that, whatever really, just to make rent.

Up until a few months ago I worked for the FBI as a consultant on what is affectionately known as the Spook Squad. Ritual murders and mass suicides is the usual flavor. All in the name of some archaic god or another, the Spook Squad mops up the mess, and it is usually – a mess. It’s a bloody job they do, don’t know how they sleep to be honest, I have trouble most days.

More often than not I’m called in for my extensive knowledge in the occult and my other less recognized abilities. Can’t really put on my application, ability to read memories, I’d be put into the crazy bin.

I live my life day in day out, hunting an answer a question so large I dare not speak it, but must. How do I, Desmona Thompson save the world?

Heaven Lyanne Flores
Bitten Pain

Killing was in Celesta Redmen’s blood. For generations, the war between witches and werewolves had been passed down. Protect the coven and kill the wolves—until the day Celesta survived being bitten. Now, the only thing Celesta knows is running. But will her coven or the wolves reach her before she can escape?

S.L. Bull
UnLeeshed

Bayne is a vampire who isn’t ready to settle down. Leesha is a shifter with attachment issues. Nova is a human police officer trying to figure out who is behind the string of murders that follow everywhere Bayne goes.

Niquel
Into The Woods

Amber Richardson used to be your typical fourteen-year-old girl. She was bright, funny, and well educated. She also took her school work very seriously. She had just entered her last year of junior high, and was excited about the road ahead.

Everything was going well, until a terrible accident on her bus ride home changed her life forever. She’d spend the next several months trying to recover from a coma and the permanent effects from it.

While in the hospital, she acquired a new friend named Kira. She couldn’t respond to anyone but her at first, and couldn’t understand why—until Kira helped her. Kira was able to open her eyes again and once she did, she revealed that she was in fact a ghost and needed Amber to help set her free.

Amber felt so grateful for the help that she decided she would do whatever it took to help Kira and accepted her role as “The Savior”. Surrounded by evil spirits, and threats to her family and friends, how would Amber pull off the ultimate deadly task and get Kira into the woods?

Ron Stelle

Blurb

ONE movie star on the cusp of greatness
ONE broken girl who touched him
TEN years to forget her
A MILLION stories in Hollywood

I am not hurt.

I don’t need a second chance with him, or a life I thought I had.

While he was out forgetting me to become a movie star, I was building a career out of nothing. A career as a paparazzi, but a career. For a foster kid who bounced around every home in Los Angeles, that wasn’t easy.

This camera is all I have.

He’s nothing to me. Every time I take his picture and sell it, I remind myself that I did it all without him or his approval, his cinnamon smell or his clear green eyes. He lights up the screen like a celestial body, but he’s nothing but a paycheck to me.

He can throw my camera off a balcony, and nothing has to change. We can stay king and queen of the same city, and different worlds.

Except this is Hollywood, and here, anything can happen.

Excerpt

I stroked his hair, waist deep in peace, all worry gone for the moment, and floating in no more than an ocean of gratitude. I must have been more vulnerable than I realized, or he’d reopened some wound with his kindness, because though my sweet reverie stayed, as the minutes passed, a layer of need fitted itself on top of it.
I needed to tell him, if not the details, the outlines of who I was.
“I want you to know,” I whispered, starting somewhere small, then everything I didn’t want to say spilled out. “I have stuff. I’ve never been to jail, but you know, it’s stuff, and it’s ugly, and it scares me. Because, I mean, you’re so perfect, and I’m… I’m just a mess. I’m not whole. I’m a bunch of pieces of a person I cobbled together.” My eyes got wet when I thought of the comparisons between us and that picture in my silverware drawer. “So if you have to move on when you realize that, I’ll understand. You have an image, and if anyone understands protecting a career, it’s me. I mean, I’ll be mad, don’t get that wrong, but also.” I swallowed and blinked, shifting my head so he wouldn’t feel the tear on his forehead. “I won’t blame you.”
I waited for an answer. Anything. A change in position or a word on any subject. The weather. Sports. Something. But all he did was breathe.
I smiled so wide, tears fell into my mouth. He was sleeping.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

cd reiss new bio

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did embed TV story structure in her head well enough for her to take a big risk on a TV series structured erotic series called Songs of Submission.
It’s about a kinky billionaire hung up on his ex-wife, an ingenue singer with a wisecracking mouth; art, music and sin in the city of Los Angeles. Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to give the toilets a once-over every couple of weeks or chop a cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

GIVEAWAY & NOTE FROM AUTHOR

I am so happy with the response to Shuttergirl, and I cannot wait to send Michael and Laine out into the world, because who doesn’t swoon over a second chance at love?

It’s a new genre for me, and I’m exploding with excitement, so I’ve dropped some fantastic reasons for readers to get the book right away.

TREAT YOURSELF LIKE A MOVIE STAR!
$500 Spa Gift Card

If you could get an hour, or ten away from the daily grind of paparazzi and interviews (or the job and kids), what would you do?

Get a foot rub/slash/pedicure? A massage? Maybe something called a Sleep Treatment that right now sounds better than sex?

Maybe you’d bring a friend or two, or maybe you’d just get a manipedi when you wanted one.
Because the life of a megastar ain’t for the weak-willed or lazy, and running from paparazzi can really wear down a girl’s nails.

Woodhouse Spas are no joke. They’re all over the country and they’re….sigh. Fabulous.
But if you don’t live near one, we can do Burke Williams, Halcyon Days or Red Door.

HOW TO ENTER

Take the fun SHUTTERGIRL READER QUIZ!

The link to the quiz is in the back of the book, and yes, that’s the ONLY place to find it!
There are bonus questions relating to Jonathan and Antonio for extra prizes. You have until June 3rd to enter!
That gives you a solid two weeks to read the book and get your chance at a $500 movie star spa treatment!

If you are a paperback reader, email me and we’ll work it out.
