DARK EROTICA AND I DO BELIEVE IN HAPPILY EVER AFTER.
Erica let herself into her parents’ home, the home she’d lived in from birth and listened for a moment to the laughter and voices coming from the dining room. It was Christmas Eve and she was late for the family dinner. Not that her family knew that since she hadn’t been able to guarantee she’d make it home for Christmas anyway.
It was just lucky that filming had finished early and she’d been able to get a seat on the first flight out of London. Someone had cancelled making a seat available and although she’d been stuck with an economy seat and jammed in between a quite large woman and a man who had spent most of the flight trying to chat her up, it had been worth it to get home that little bit quicker. She knew she could have called Daddy and he would have sent the company jet but she wanted to surprise her family when they really weren’t expecting her.
She stopped for a moment to check her appearance in the mirror over the hall stand and noticed the dark circles under her blue eyes, a blue that vivid they appeared almost purple under some lighting. Her auburn hair hung down one shoulder in a plait that finished just below her full breasts and she ran her hands down over her dress trying to smooth out the creases after being crammed in a plane for so many hours.
Slowly she moved towards the dining room, smiling as the voices grew louder the closer she got. Nathan was telling them something about his and his girlfriend Taylah’s last holiday together. Apparently she had managed to lock herself out of their room while only wearing a towel and Erica grinned to herself when everyone burst out laughing.
She made it to the dining room doorway and got her first look at her family in three months. Alice was there as were Beverly, Tom and Maggie but her eyes shifted past them to the tall figure of her Father standing by the window.
Even in his early 50’s he was still a very attractive man and to her he was her hero. She loved her Father, she always had. He had been her protector, her savior and the person who could never say no to her.
Nathan was seated at the table, the light shining on his strawberry blonde hair with Taylah by his side; her dark almost exotic looks a complete contrast to him.
Brooklyn and Charlotte occupied another couple of chairs at the table and Erica noticed Brooklyn had somehow talked her parents in to letting her get a nose piercing if the diamond glinting in it was any indication. At 15 they were looking so much more mature than she remembered but the phones in their hands as they texted or were on Facebook proved that they still had some maturing to do yet.
Her Mother was seated up the other end of the table, looking her usual unruffled self, her auburn hair the exact same color as Erica’s twisted into some elaborate knot at her nape.
Erica smiled at the sight of them all together, all the people she loved most in her life. Suddenly her Mother looked up and saw her standing there and a wide smile transformed her face at the sight of her eldest daughter.
“Erica, darling, you made it.” She stood up with her usual grace. Her Mother’s mention of her name was enough to draw the attention of everyone else and the chatter stopped briefly before everyone started getting to their feet to
come and greet her.
Before anyone reached her, she saw her father coming towards her with that long stride of his and he caught her up, swinging her around and around in his arms despite her protests and squeals at him.
He lowered her feet to the floor and pulled her into his arms for a hug, holding her tight and Erica realized at that moment how much her father had missed her. They’d been inseparable until her career had started to take off and now she was often gone for weeks or even several months at a time. Lately it was months and months in between visits back home.
“Daddy.” She said and that was all she could say as the tears started to fall and when she finally pulled back enough to see her father’s face, he had tears rolling down his cheeks too.
“I missed you so much Daddy.”
“Not as much as I’ve missed you sweet pea.” He told her huskily before hugging her tightly to him again.
Erica knew her father hated her job. She’d heard often enough about how he used to only date models years ago before Mum’s time. He’d found them shallow and self-centered so he had found it hard to accept that his own daughter had gone on to become a highly successful model.
He’d never once tried to stop her and had always been supportive and going by the collection of her professional photos hanging around the house, he was proud of her despite her career choice. Technically she hadn’t intended to get into modelling but it had been the fairy tale beginning for her. After being spotted at sixteen and talked into having some studio shots taken the rest as they say was history.
She had become an extremely wealthy woman from modelling but all that money didn’t mean much when her personal life was one huge mess. She had come home not just to see her family but to lick her wounds and recover from the physical and emotional damage done to her by her ex-boyfriend. She didn’t dare tell her father about what Liam had done to her. She just wanted to spend time with her family and try to push the whole horrible nightmare to the back of her mind.
With a huge grin on her face she pulled out of her father’s arms and turned to greet the rest of her family, her arms spread wide. “Well come on then, is Daddy the only one pleased to see me? Where’s my hugs?”
Her Mother stepped forward, a wide smile on her face, her arms outstretched and Erica walked into her embrace, dropping her head on her shoulder as she breathed in her Mother’s familiar vanilla scent. Before she could get too
comfortable though, she was pulled into Nathan’s arms and given a hug that tight, she winced. She fought to keep the pain from her expression because her pain was from more than his big bear hug embrace, it was pain from bones that were still healing. She didn’t want anyone to see that though so she struggled to mask her reaction from her family. She didn’t want anyone to know what had happened. She just needed time to get over this with the people she loved most around her. She needed time to forget what Liam had done to her. God, just thinking about him sent a shiver through her and Erica pulled away from her brother and with a false smile on her face she said. “I’m starving. Can your poor old daughter and sister get something to eat before I collapse?”
With bursts of laughter and Nathan teasing her about her not being entitled to anything more than a lettuce leaf given she was some big shot model, her family cleared a spot for her at the table.
Brooklyn and Charlotte dropped kisses on her cheeks when she sat down. Erica took the plate of food from her mother’s hands that seemed to have miraculously filled itself and began to eat. The constant noise and laughter from her family was both comforting and familiar to her. She realized just how much she’d missed it, how much she’d missed them. Being back with them like this would help for a short time at least. She could forget about the past, forget about the pain and try and push the hell Liam had put her through from her mind.

For some it’s to project an impressive image to a prospective employer; for others it’s to attract the eye of another.

As women, we’re judged for reveling in the same carnal pleasures that men do, but I’ve never been shy about my voracious appetite.

CARNAGE – VALENTINE`S DAY WEEKEND SALE – 99C
Posted by Book Loving Pixies
In honor of the one year anniversary of the release of Lesley Jones book Carnage, she will be putting it on sale for Valentine’s Day weekend.
This is not just my top read of 2014, The Carnage Experience of Books #1 & #2 is a top read of my lifetime.

I love him, from the instant I set eyes on him when I was just 11 years old I have loved him and nothing will ever change that, he owns me, he owns my heart and he owns my body and no matter how many lies are told, no matter how many people conspire to keep us apart, despite the fame and the distance, we will find a way.
“Georgia Rae, when we made love you used to cry” … He waits for me to sing my bit. I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…
“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”Carnage is an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean’s story will stay with you long after you read the final word.
An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read.

When your world, your life and all of your hopes and dreams for the future are ripped out from under you, how do you go on?
Death without dying is not only the most painful kind of death, it’s also the most painful kind of life and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to live it.
I spend my lonely days and nights trying to make sense of what my life has become. Do I have the strength to move forward into the light, or should I just let the darkness take me?
I’m Georgia Rae Layton McCarthy and this is the story of me, just me.
I’m no longer a part of an us, it’s just me.
Alone.By myself

Lesley Jones – I Love the Fuck Out of You
That’s where I’ll start.
I’ve spent four days unable to even start trying to put into words how I feel about this book. I am not eloquent enough, humorous enough or clever enough with words to do it justice, but fuck, do I wish I was.
My love of reading has spanned nearly forty years and as an avid reader I have devoured many, many books across different genres with all types of writing styles as my tastes have changed over the years. The list of all-time favourites that I reread to death or the ones that have touched me for whatever reason and stay with me years after is miniscule in comparison to the amount read however, there are many I liked, lots I loved and some that amazed me but Carnage is in that tiny handful that are special beyond words. This crazy talented author has written this story so raw, real, gritty, sad, heartbreakingly crazy beautiful that I am literally shredded after finishing.
I am going to say very little about the story because of spoilers, to experience these books you need to go in blind because you will not see it coming. No way. No how.
I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…
“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”
Carnage is an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean’s story will stay with you long after you read the final word.
An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read – yeah thanks for that Goodreads, understatement of the century. Four fucking days later and I have the book hangover from hell. I got the “feels” so bad. I cried Ugly Tears when I finished Carnage #1. Sobbed like a crazy woman. Heartbroken and in awe of an author who took that type of chance. Wrote it as it was meant to be, no matter whether that was going to be the popular choice or not.
Since finishing I have stalked Lesley Jones online (sorry I meant researched…) and discovered that initially it was meant as a standalone but, due to popular demand and threats of violence, she did Carnage#2.
This gets difficult because if I put anything about the story of #2 here then I will spoil #1 for you if you haven’t already read it. So I’m only going to quote one tiny sentence that I loved and not disclose any spoilers.
“Life’s fucked, Kitten. It’s cruel and twisted and it does spiteful things to good people. “
And that’s part of why this book touches you so deeply, because life is fucked and sad and crazy and beautiful with sometimes more bad shit than good, with times you can’t seem to claw your way out of but, if you are really lucky friends, family and that special certain someone will carry you through with love, laughter, tears and no bullshit reality checks. Then that fickle bitch Karma sometimes gives you the good surprises and second chances.
The banter, love and affection between characters is funny as fuck especially between two main characters, I adored them together. I also want a brother like Marley and a friend like ‘No Filter’ Ash! As I’m a woman of a certain age I was LMAO at outfits to impress the boyfriend involving stilettos, fishnets and leather – been there, done that, got the t-shirt!
So, as I sit here re-reading this review I’m as unhappy as I knew I would be. Because these books gutted and shredded me in the best, best way and if I had the words you would all be running off to one click them and experience Carnage. But if this means even just one reader discovers them then it was worth me trying.
Lesley Jones has written the most amazing, heartbreakingly beautiful story I have read in many years with such a punch that I will return to these over years to come just because I won’t be able to resist, the draw is that strong.
Lesley Jones I Love The Fuck Out Of YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Lesley Jones Biography
I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It’s a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.
As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football…The round ball version. I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass… or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

What started out as a short-term solution has turned into a long-term jail sentence on a tropical island.
When Carrie and Dillon’s pasts collide with the present, it threatens their budding relationship and sends them into a maelstrom of danger, abduction, and attempted murder. Sometimes, no matter how far you run, you just can’t hide.
FINDING LOST~ EXCERPT
“I don’t understand. How can this monster make my life a living hell day after day and not get caught? How can he continue to terrorize me like this and not leave any trace of who he is?”
Detective Roberts gnawed on a sunflower seed and spit the remnants into a paper cup. Had he gotten a little grayer around the temples since the last time she’d been to the station? “He knows what he’s doing, how to play the game. I’m thinking he could be one of us, or someone who’s been in law enforcement. It’s uncanny the way he can do so much and not slip up. It’s pissing me off.”
“You’re pissed?” she scoffed. “What about me? According to you, my life is about to be over as I know it.” She grabbed a tattered tissue from her purse and blew her nose. As she took a quick look in the makeup mirror, her complexion told a sorry story of incessant stress and sleep deprivation. What a mess. She plunged the mirror back into her bag and noticed paper clips strewn across his desk. One by one she gathered them into rows and columns. Then she gathered each row and deposited them back into the paper clip holder.
“Listen, I’m not giving up on you or on trying to find the sick bastard. I just think it would be best for you to disappear into a whole new life. As long as your stalker remains a mystery, it’s not safe for you to be… you. I could suggest what I’m sure all the others have— change your routines, move to another part of the city, or hire security…”
“I’ve done all that already, and he’s still around.”
“The last, most severe response is to skip town and start fresh somewhere else. Keep a low profile in some invisible job where nobody knows who you really are.”
“Do you realize what you’re asking me to do? I own a thriving book store. I have family and friends. I can’t just give it all up. Then he wins.”
“Isn’t he winning now?”
She raised a brow and turned away, preferring to straighten the various piles of paper on his desk and align each container to another rather than face the truth.
By writing paranormal romance and suspense, Deena spends her days and nights playing in the Garden of Good and Evil. She’s been known to have downed a few beers with her angels, and even put Satan in his place a time or two. She’s come to learn, however, that the human villains she creates can be more evil and depraved than the supernatural characters she conjures up. Gilbert, Arizona is home now for her family, but she hails from Philadelphia, PA and lived for many years in Manalapan, NJ. When she’s not writing, she’s teaching kids how to do the same.
