Book Blurb

Fredi is a passionate witch with a scorching hot secret. Every time she has a sexual thought, green fire blasts from her fingertips. Gus is a gorgeous lycan who scares women away with his wild wolf-shifts. Not the best way to find relationships.

Both have vowed not to date until they get themselves under control, but a witchy friend thinks differently. The pair get tricked into sharing a frosty pitcher of “Hoodoo Blue” and fall prey to a wayward love potion that has them blurting out every lustful thought. Worse, it won’t allow them to walk away from each other. They’re stuck together until dawn under the devilish effects of a time-released hoodoo that makes them do outrageous things. For everyone’s safety, Fredi is forced to take Gus home and tie him to her headboard and only some very witchy lovemaking can calm the storm.

Fredi and Gus might find themselves on the set-up date from hell, but even a hilarious cascade of disasters can’t keep a plus-sized blonde witch with attitude, and a hunky lumberjack of a lycan from seeing the other would be the perfect mate.

(Fredi and Gus just met in the Voodoo Hoodoo cocktail lounge. Sparks fly. Now they need to get away from each other ASAP)

…Sid stood in front of the booth blocking her retreat. “Leaving? Not so fast. Here’s your pitcher of Hoodoo Blue, mixed special for you. I know that rhymes.” He winked as he set a frosty pitcher filled with what looked like a turquoise slushy on the table and placed two heavy glasses paired with pink straws beside it. “Enjoy.”

“Thank—“ Fredi stopped herself and raised a palm in apology. “I won’t say it.”
Sid smirked and walked away.
Damn Fae. With his sly green eyes, he always looked like he was up to no good.

She stared at the frosty blue beverage with suspicion. There was a lot of drink there—more than enough to get several adults schnockered. No doubt sneaky Sid mixed it strong, too. “There’s no way we can finish all of that. I really shouldn’t stay.”

Gus reached out and stroked her hand with a whisper light touch that brought her to a halt. “One drink. We’ll talk a little and I promise I’ll let you go. I have no business hanging around either. I need to get home, or take a run in the hills….”

“Why run to the hills?”

He heaved a tense breath. “To get a little wiggle room between me, civilization, and full- blown Lycanthropy high jinx. You’re a witch. I’m sure you’re familiar with what I’m talking about.”

She shrugged. “I’m sorry. I’m not sure what you mean. I didn’t grow up around many Lycan. I was raised in San Buena. Wolf boys usually aren’t part of the surf and shore scene. They head for the forests.”

“Wolf men,” he corrected her. “And you’re right Lycans prefer the woods to sandy beaches, but you must have heard something?” He settled his big frame uncomfortably on the vinyl seat.

“No.” She shook her head. “Nothing. I really don’t know much about the Lycan community.”

Gus’s expressive brows drooped. “You must have heard that during a full moon Lycans have a bad reputation for getting a little too aggressive, hairy, and—“

“Horny? Okay, I have heard that. I thought you might offer something a little more obscure, like you had to wear red shoes and skip through the hills searching for four-leaf clovers or something stupid like that.”

“Nope.” He looked terribly uneasy. “Nothing fancy. I have to stay away from the ladies. I don’t want to offend or bother anyone who’s not into Lycans, and it can be a challenge to control myself, especially around a woman like you.” His thick brows creased so strongly they almost met. “Strike that. I should not have said it.”

Excerpt

Four guards wearing head-to-toe body armor and face shields, and carrying ionized bang sticks with the tips glowing hot, marched toward her, dragging a semi-conscious man between them. The captive was slumped forward with head hanging and a tousle of dark, wavy hair concealing his face. His splayed legs hung limp, and the toes of his heavy boots dug deep furrows into the beach. The current sedation seemed to be effective.
A guard stepped forward. “Open the skimmer’s bay wider. This is a big guy.”

Gemmina carefully lifted her feet and dared to take a shaky step or two across the rolling glass-bead beach.

“Hold on. Let me have a look at him before I take custody.”

She removed a handheld scanner from a hip pocket, activated it, and waved it over the inert captive.

“I’m looking for possible broken bones, signs of abuse, bruising, internal injuries, slow- acting poisons, et cetera…. In short, anything that I don’t want to be held legally responsible for. I’m making a complete virtual record of his physical condition at the time he was taken into my custody.”

She scanned the man’s powerful limbs. Syan wore a snug, black pressure suit made of stretchy fabric that emphasized the curved sweep of thick biceps and broad thighs. The man was built.
Best guess was he’d be at least a head and a half taller than she was. He appeared to be pure muscle and was likely at least twice her weight. Without a doubt, he was going to be a challenge to transport, and she wished she had a bigger ship with a secure gravity-plus chamber to lock him inside.

The guard who had removed his face shield appeared concerned. “Is everything all right?”

“Aside from mild dehydration, so far everything’s fine, but don’t rush me. Taking a virtual report is serious business. If a judge ever discovered that I let it slide before I—”

The guard interrupted. “No one’s rushing you! Take your time.” Then he made the spinning fingers motion, which was the universal sign for hurry-up.

With a gentle touch, she explored the top of Syan’s head. His hair was unlike that of any species she’d ever seen. It was dense, and the glossy locks that hung to his chin were such a deep black they shimmered with a purple iridescence reminiscent of a raven’s feather. Fascinated, she rubbed a few strands between her fingertips. Kironian hair was gorgeous and felt like silk.

Touching it was mesmerizing.

The guard frowned. “What are you looking at? Is something wrong?”

“I’m examining him. I’ve never seen a Kironian before.” She knelt to Syan’s level, brushed his long hair aside, and cautiously lifted his chin. Her breath caught. He was stunning with heavy, black brows and rugged features paired with flawless, coppery skin. He looked like a refugee from Mount Olympus now collared and bound. He was too damn perfect in a provocative way.
Syan opened his eyes, which were ringed with lush, black lashes. Just that one movement appeared to tax him, and the first moments his attention seemed to drift before coming into focus, but, when it did, his gaze was laser-sharp. Without blinking he looked directly at her. He had large, commanding black eyes with the slightest violet sheen. The intensity of a bird of prey shone in their depths.

His gaze narrowed and for a moment she imagined he was attempting to speak to her, in code or through looks. A weird sense of telepathic connection lingered. Suddenly a rush of jumbled images raced through her mind. The images were disturbing and violent, and churned unsettling emotions. He opened his mouth as if he were silently screaming, wriggled one arm free of the guards and lunged toward her throat with teeth bared.

“Whoa!” Gemmina leaped backward, toppled, and crawled away on her elbows like a crab until she sank into the beach sand. “Holy crap! What was that about? This man’s not sedated!”

The guards surrounded Syan and delivered a crackling volley of stunning bursts from their blast sticks until their captive shuddered, fell, and lay limp on the ground with a trickle of blood running
from his bitten lip.

“That’s enough!” she shouted…”

Excerpt One

Following her nose through the front door, she was thrust into a honky-tonk time warp. Bars like this one didn’t exist in Los Angeles. The Den was cozy enough but appeared to have been decorated by a taxidermist in the late seventies and zealously preserved since. The shaggy heads of several unfortunate buffalo dominated the far wall. At the front door, two stuffed raccoons offered a mock greeting with outstretched paws. The chairs, booths, and even a few of the tables were covered in forest green vinyl. No doubt a sticky misery to come in contact with on a hot day.
Movement caught her eye. A burly man with an inscrutable expression rose from behind a counter as if he was part of a magic act. He was tall with a barrel chest. A nappy brown sweater coupled with hunched posture lent him a distinctly bearlike appearance.

The dour gentleman focused on Sela with a frown. “Where did you come from?”

Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” was cranked to eleven. She had to shout to be heard, “Can I order some food to go?”

The saggy-faced Papa bear behind the counter appeared perturbed. “Fair warning, miss. The kitchen’s closed. Pretty sure we don’t have what you want.”

The explosive clack of a pool cue making hard contact with a ball nearly drowned her out. “Except for you, everything’s closed in this town!”

A few customers cast her a brief glance then looked away. The lucky bastards sat in front of pitchers of cold beer, towering hamburgers, paired with heaps of french fries or onion rings. Her stomach growled embarrassingly loud, but she doubted anyone could hear above the blaring music. “Something smells heavenly. Could I at least order onion rings to go?”

Bear man shook his head. “Sorry. No can do. Fryer’s turned off.”

“Really?” Digging through her purse, she wondered if this place would accept a credit card. “I’m willing to pay a little extra for the trouble.”

With a sullen pout, he rubbed a limp rag across the countertop. “After hours The Den ain’t open to the general public. Guess what? It’s after hours.”

“Oh, come on!” She sounded desperate.

A man in a red plaid shirt, who appeared to be in his mid-thirties, sat at the counter. He shot her a smoldering look filled with mixed emotions. Perhaps he was angry or lost in thought. She couldn’t tell. The flash of fire in his eyes beneath brooding black brows was impossible to decipher. When he opened his mouth, the tough gravel voice of a drill sergeant rumbled out. “Gee, don’t be a hard ass. Get the lady some onion rings.”

The lumbering hairy thing behind the counter, presumably named Gee, thrust out his bottom lip and lifted his hands into the air in mock surrender. “Why not? It’s not like my house rules ever get any respect anyway.”

From the corner of her eye, Sela glimpsed a huge silver-furred canine dart from under a table, push a swinging door open with its muzzle, and disappear.

“Did I just see a wolf?” Sela gasped.

Except Two

“Medium rare.” Gee set a steaming hamburger buried beneath heaps of fries and onion rings in front of Sela.

Everything on the plate looked delicious. “Thank you. I thought I ordered this to go?”

“Stay awhile. Enjoy your food.” Gee gave Rio a sickly sweet little grin. “L.A. stood up to you. I like her.”

The crease between his brows deepened. “Gee, no one asked your opinion.”

She gingerly picked up a fistful of scorching hot fries and ferried them over to Rio’s plate.

He appeared puzzled. “Why?”

“Peace offering.” She wondered what he looked like when he smiled. “I’m sure yours are cold by now.”

Rio picked up one of the token offerings, lifting the hot french fry to his lips. He didn’t even care he was about to get burned big time. In fact, he wanted the pain. Better to take the punishment now than suffer a shitload of hurt after he did something stupid like make a play for Sela López, which absolutely, positively could not happen. To his eyes, she was knockout gorgeous with killer curves. She had plenty of sass, too. She hadn’t backed down a bit from his most withering I- just-put-you-in-your-place look.

Something else caught him off-guard—her scent. One whiff of her subtle female aroma had brought his blood to a boil.

Holy crap, what had he gotten himself into? By the tone of her e-mail inquiries about the cabin, he’d come to the false conclusion Miss López was a dried-up academic collecting data about the Los Lobos wolf population. Instead, a Latina temptress with an ass that made him want to bite his fist and whimper had shown up.

WARNING:
***Comprehensible Jamaican dialect is used throughout the story because the heroine ‘Zel’ is half Jamaican***

This is not your typical love story.
The questionable ‘heroine’ is not the victim, she’s the bad-guy you’ll probably love and hate…

Asher stalked her because there was something about her that was undeniable, she’s a mystery and he’s drawn to her like nothing else, but nothing could prepare him for what he found.

Zel makes people’s problems go away. She’s cynical, aggressive and has no regard for human life, but when Asher crosses her path he becomes a problem she couldn’t possibly ‘make go away’ as easy as the others.

Asher
finds himself in way too deep when the lives of everyone he loves is threatened and he has to play the willing captive to keep them safe.

Zel has her own problems, someone wants her dead and they’re not shy about it. They both won’t be safe until she gets to them first.

Secrets unfold, lies are told and sacrifices are made. Consequences be damned.

Ashlyn Murphy was not living the dream. Twenty-seven years old, college educated, up to her eyeballs in debt and yet she’d been relegated to pouring beers at a local bar. She desperately needed an out and was willing to do anything to get back into the corporate world. Well, almost anything. Dan Evans, Rock Star was NOT one of those things. In fact she despised him. Apparently he didn’t get the memo.

Dan Evans, bass player of international rock band Power Station had it all. He was rich, travelled the world, played to millions of adoring fans and had no shortage of beautiful women willing to share his bed. BLP REVIEW ~ Rebecca

Well Fuck.

Yep.

That’s it.

Nothing else to say.

EXCEPT

HOW the hell did I not read T Gephart before?????

I’m lying of course because, as usual, I have something to say! But I am scratching my head this morning wondering how on earth I missed her. I started this yesterday but stayed up until the early hours of this morning to finish it. One hit, I could not put it down. I’ve been a little bored and jaded lately when reading rockers, bikers and billionaires because the whole bloody market is so over saturated, quantity of choice but not always so much quality so to come across not only a book that was such addictive reading when I had no expectations at all was a surprise, for it to be a rocker book just shows its calibre, this is going to be a favourite without doubt. The book and the author.

So what’s it all about?

He didn’t need a moody redheaded knockout with a superiority complex complicating his life. Or did he?

When two people who couldn’t be more opposite cross paths, it’s bound to be explosive; sometimes all you can do is sit back and enjoy the show.

And what a show it is.

Ashlyn is just bloody fabulous. Sassy smartass who takes no shit off Dan from their very first meeting. She’s the type of female lead I love reading but don’t always find. A clever girl with a life plan mapped out that includes a career on Wall Street but not a rude crude rock god with a huge ego (amongst other things!). Ash is a redhead with the temperament to match and I adored her.

Dan, well where the fuck do you start with Dan? Actually probably with just that, a fuck, he’s a total unapologetic manwhore who loves life, women and music not necessarily in that order! He lives his life his way, full on and enjoying every second of it. His dirty mouth is a joy to behold, whether he’s being a suggestive git with the innuendos and dirty talk or whether he’s in bed and using it for other things!
From the moment they meet the pull and push between them is fascinating, funny and frustrating (from Dan`s point of view anyway!).

“I hate you.”

I leaned in and whispered, “No, you don’t. You’re just mad ‘cause I make your panties wet.”

“You disgust me!” She pushed against my chest.

“And yet, you still want to sleep with me, don’t you?”

“What? No. Are you insane? I don’t want to sleep with you. Not every woman wants to sleep with you.”

“Maybe that’s true, but you do.”

“You…you…ugh!” She opened her mouth and shut it, wordless.

“It’s okay, sweetheart, don’t fight it. I promise it will be good for you.”

Dan goes after whatever he wants whenever he wants it but Ashlyn is a far more controlled person who has worked too hard to go off plan and lose focus for a fling with a rock star, yet the more she sees and spends time with him the harder it is to keep sight of that plan.

It was the ultimate tease pic: no face, just sculptured, masculine skin. It was raw and unfiltered, just like him.

Life isn’t about the perfect plan. It’s about the perfect storm that engulfs you when you’re busy living it.

When these two people and worlds collide it makes for a story that I devoured because the author spins it that well, it made a tired genre come alive for me again in a way only Olivia Cunning or Samantha Towle usually do. If you are an avid reader then you know the feeling, “I’ll just finish that next chapter, I must go to bed but maybe just a little more, oh fuck it I need to finish and know what happens, who needs sleep”. This is a little gem that I enjoyed, gorged on in one hit. ……..

And having checked on Amazon I discover this is a spin off from her other books, epic fail on my part.

And well done to #RARE14 Edinburgh because that book signing introduced me to the names T Gephart and Lesley Jones and both are bloody amazing.

Excerpt:

Jace Matthews’ eyes followed the rhythmic sway of his mate’s heart-shaped ass as she walked up the aisle to the sales counter. Damn, he couldn’t wait to strip her bare and sink his teeth into that tender flesh. Suddenly, those tempting globes stopped. He blinked and his gaze shot up to find Michelle frowning over her shoulder at him.

Shit.

Embarrassed she’d caught him staring, he snatched the closest book on the shelf beside him, waving it in the air like a kid who’d won a life-sized stuffed animal at the county fair. “Got it. Thought it might be out of stock.”

Real smooth, jackass.

She arched a delicate brow over the rim of her glasses. “Are you ready to check out, Jace?”

“Yep, I think this’ll do it.” He soaked up the sound of her sweet voice and followed her to the register.

Two months ago, when he’d come to check out the new owner of a large parcel of land adjoining his pack’s hunting territory, he damn sure hadn’t expected to find Michelle Sanders. Once he’d stepped inside the small, quaint bookstore she’d owned in Collins, he’d caught a scent that had eluded him for thirty-two years.

His mate.

BLP REVIEW ~ TRACY

This is the first book from Melissa Limoges and in my opinion it’s a great start to her career!!! Not forgetting that I adore shifter stories, so this novella was right up my street…..

Claiming His Mate was a fun, sexy and interesting short read (my only gripe – if I could even call it that – would be that I’d have loved the story to be a little longer so that we could have found out more about Jace & Michelle, but that’s just me).

Jace is an alpha shifter who has discovered that Michelle, who has recently moved to the town, is his mate. For reasons later explained, she thinks the hot bloke who has been hanging round her book store is gay…. yeah, so wrong there!!! 😉

With wit & humour that made me laugh out loud at points, some danger, a touch of sweetness and a lot of attraction & heat this was a great afternoon read.

I didn’t realise that the Black Hills Wolves series was written by several authors and it’s something that I’ll be exploring further.
Melissa has a 2nd BHW books coming out “Taming His Mate” (which will be book 8 in the series) and I can’t wait to read Stephen’s tale!

This year, I’ve signed up to “New To You Author” challenge being held by Anna at Herding Cats & Burning Soup and this was a great start to my new author list!

Excerpt:
Alex said, so quietly, “Play something for me.”
Her hands stretched over the keys, and she tried to push them down to play even a major chord, but as soon as a key neared the break point, just when the hammer inside the piano was poised to strike the string, something in her mind shouted Don’t! and she couldn’t press it.
Alex asked gently, “Does Flicka know you’re worse?”
“I don’t see how she would. We’ve been out of touch for a few years.”
“But she knows that you’ve got—” he paused, obviously considering whether to say the terrible words, “a problem with this.”
“She must have forgotten about it,” rather than that Flicka had decided to punish Georgie in a spectacularly cruel way.
Maybe Georgie deserved to try to face her fears, melt into an incoherent puddle on the floor, and have everyone from her childhood and current best friends laugh at her failure.
It would serve her right.
But she would never be able to walk as far as the piano in front of all those people, so Flicka couldn’t have her poetic justice.
“Anyway,” she said, “I can’t do it.”
“I can help you,” Alex said.
“And how could you do that? Hypnotize me? Doesn’t work. Psychoanalysis? There’s nothing there.”
“Of course not, but I don’t want you to play for them.” He leaned across the piano again, and his hair slid from behind his shoulder and hung, reflected in the black gloss of the piano’s lacquer. “I want you to play for me.”
Georgie stared down at her spidery hands hanging over the black and white piano keys. “I can’t.”
He walked around the piano and stood beside her, his slim hip right beside her cheek. A faint, masculine scent wafted from his clothes, a cologne, something soothing like green herbs. She was acutely aware that she could lean about six inches over and unzip his fly with her teeth.
Alex said, in a low, soft voice, “Play the middle C.”
She laid her thumb on the white key right in front of her waist and held it there, but she didn’t push down.
Alex stroked her arm from her elbow to her wrist with the back of his hand, soothing her. “Play it.”
She told her finger to push down, and she let the weight of her arm fall on her finger that was curled above the keys.
Her finger collapsed and wouldn’t press the key.
Alex shook his head, and his long hair swished over his shoulders. He turned his hand over so that his palm was on her wrist, and then he slid his hand over hers, covering her fingers on the keys with his own. Calluses on pads of his fingers were hard on the tops of her fingers.
He stepped behind her, still not moving his fingers over hers. Warmth from his body drifted out of his suit jacket that opened around them, spreading over her bare back, and his cologne filled her nose like she was walking in the fields around Tanglewood.
He leaned over her, stretching his arms on both sides of her, caging her.
His whisper brushed the skin on her neck. “I’m not forcing you to do something you don’t want to. I’m letting you have what you want most, what you crave, but you dare not admit, even to yourself.”
“I’m afraid,” Georgie admitted, her voice breathy from fear at pressing that note and from his body so close to hers.
“Everyone is, in the beginning,” he said. “It can be terrifying to have an experience so desired, so primal, that you lose yourself. You have to trust me to take you through the place that terrifies you, to keep you safe, and to hold you until you emerge on the other side.”
Georgie couldn’t seem to catch her breath or move away from him. “We’re still talking about the piano here?”
Alex chuckled.
“Just the piano,” she said, but she leaned back, almost imperceptibly, maybe an inch, so that his mouth was so near her skin that his breath was a hot circle on her bare shoulder, and the scent of champagne in his mouth rolled down her skin.
“Let me do it for you, first,” he whispered.
Georgie closed her eyes, and the weight of his finger forced hers down.
A single note, a C, rang out of the piano and jarred against her skin.

Synopsis:
Erica Rothman looked to have it all. Beauty, a successful modelling career, overseas travel, money and a handsome boyfriend or did she? Looks can be deceiving.
After fleeing the UK and her violent, abusive boyfriend she gave up modelling and came home to Australia to lick her wounds after Liam had attempted to kill them both in a car accident during a fit of jealous rage.
She wanted to keep what had happened to her a secret from her family until her brother Nathan accidentally learns the truth.
When he takes her to see the project he and his business partner and friend have bought to make money on, it seemed innocent enough until she meets his friend.
Zane Harrison is gorgeous, sexy and everything a woman could ever want in a man. He was probably used to
having women fall at his feet. That’s exactly what Erica did when she met him; she literally fainted at the man’s feet.
The attraction is there and he could be the perfect man for her but is it too risky to get involved with him? Can she escape the horrors of her past? Will she ever be able to overcome just what it is about him that affects her so much?

Excerpt:
Erica let herself into her parents’ home, the home she’d lived in from birth and listened for a moment to the laughter and voices coming from the dining room. It was Christmas Eve and she was late for the family dinner. Not that her family knew that since she hadn’t been able to guarantee she’d make it home for Christmas anyway.
It was just lucky that filming had finished early and she’d been able to get a seat on the first flight out of London. Someone had cancelled making a seat available and although she’d been stuck with an economy seat and jammed in between a quite large woman and a man who had spent most of the flight trying to chat her up, it had been worth it to get home that little bit quicker. She knew she could have called Daddy and he would have sent the company jet but she wanted to surprise her family when they really weren’t expecting her.
She stopped for a moment to check her appearance in the mirror over the hall stand and noticed the dark circles under her blue eyes, a blue that vivid they appeared almost purple under some lighting. Her auburn hair hung down one shoulder in a plait that finished just below her full breasts and she ran her hands down over her dress trying to smooth out the creases after being crammed in a plane for so many hours.
Slowly she moved towards the dining room, smiling as the voices grew louder the closer she got. Nathan was telling them something about his and his girlfriend Taylah’s last holiday together. Apparently she had managed to lock herself out of their room while only wearing a towel and Erica grinned to herself when everyone burst out laughing.
She made it to the dining room doorway and got her first look at her family in three months. Alice was there as were Beverly, Tom and Maggie but her eyes shifted past them to the tall figure of her Father standing by the window.
Even in his early 50’s he was still a very attractive
man and to her he was her hero. She loved her Father, she always had. He had been her protector, her savior and the person who could never say no to her.
Nathan was seated at the table, the light shining on his strawberry blonde hair with Taylah by his side; her dark almost exotic looks a complete contrast to him.
Brooklyn and Charlotte occupied another couple of chairs at the table and Erica noticed Brooklyn had somehow talked her parents in to letting her get a nose piercing if the diamond glinting in it was any indication. At 15 they were looking so much more mature than she remembered but the phones in their hands as they texted or were on Facebook proved that they still had some maturing to do yet.
Her Mother was seated up the other end of the table, looking her usual unruffled self, her auburn hair the exact same color as Erica’s twisted into some elaborate knot at her nape.
Erica smiled at the sight of them all together, all the people she loved most in her life. Suddenly her Mother looked up and saw her standing there and a wide smile transformed her face at the sight of her eldest daughter.
“Erica, darling, you made it.” She stood up with her usual grace. Her Mother’s mention of her name was enough to draw the attention of everyone else and the chatter stopped briefly before everyone started getting to their feet to
come and greet her.
Before anyone reached her, she saw her father coming towards her with that long stride of his and he caught her up, swinging her around and around in his arms despite her protests and squeals at him.
He lowered her feet to the floor and pulled her into his arms for a hug, holding her tight and Erica realized at that moment how much her father had missed her. They’d been inseparable until her career had started to take off and now she was often gone for weeks or even several months at a time. Lately it was months and months in between visits back home.
“Daddy.” She said and that was all she could say as the tears started to fall and when she finally pulled back enough to see her father’s face, he had tears rolling down his cheeks too.
“I missed you so much Daddy.”
“Not as much as I’ve missed you sweet pea.” He told her huskily before hugging her tightly to him again.
Erica knew her father hated her job. She’d heard often enough about how he used to only date models years ago before Mum’s time. He’d found them shallow and self-centered so he had found it hard to accept that his own daughter had gone on to become a highly successful model.
He’d never once tried to stop her and had always been supportive and going by the collection of her professional photos hanging around the house, he was proud of her despite her career choice. Technically she hadn’t intended to get into modelling but it had been the fairy tale beginning for her. After being spotted at sixteen and talked into having some studio shots taken the rest as they say was history.
She had become an extremely wealthy woman from modelling but all that money didn’t mean much when her personal life was one huge mess. She had come home not just to see her family but to lick her wounds and recover from the physical and emotional damage done to her by her ex-boyfriend. She didn’t dare tell her father about what Liam had done to her. She just wanted to spend time with her family and try to push the whole horrible nightmare to the back of her mind.
With a huge grin on her face she pulled out of her father’s arms and turned to greet the rest of her family, her arms spread wide. “Well come on then, is Daddy the only one pleased to see me? Where’s my hugs?”
Her Mother stepped forward, a wide smile on her face, her arms outstretched and Erica walked into her embrace, dropping her head on her shoulder as she breathed in her Mother’s familiar vanilla scent. Before she could get too
comfortable though, she was pulled into Nathan’s
arms and given a hug that tight, she winced. She fought to keep the pain from her expression because her pain was from more than his big bear hug embrace, it was pain from bones that were still healing. She didn’t want anyone to see that though so she struggled to mask her reaction from her family. She didn’t want anyone to know what had happened. She just needed time to get over this with the people she loved most around her. She needed time to forget what Liam had done to her. God, just thinking about him sent a shiver through her and Erica pulled away from her brother and with a false smile on her face she said. “I’m starving. Can your poor old daughter and sister get something to eat before I collapse?”
With bursts of laughter and Nathan teasing her about her not being entitled to anything more than a lettuce leaf given she was some big shot model, her family cleared a spot for her at the table.
Brooklyn and Charlotte dropped kisses on her cheeks when she sat down. Erica took the plate of food from her mother’s hands that seemed to have miraculously filled itself and began to eat. The constant noise and laughter from her family was both comforting and familiar to her. She realized just how much she’d missed it, how much she’d missed them. Being back with them like this would help for a short time at least. She could forget about the past, forget about the pain and try and push the hell Liam had put her through from her mind.

About the Author:
From my teenage years, all I wanted to do was become a writer one day. Even now as an adult woman with a partner and three children who are not so little anymore, I’ve always lived with my head in the clouds, a dreamer, often amusing myself with my own imagination. It might have taken me awhile to finally live my dream, but I did it. I hope to one day be good enough to stand beside the many talented writers out there who have kept me entertained with their wonderful stories over the years. I live in a sleepy country town in Tasmania, Australia with my partner and three children plus our 4 cats, dog and cattle. I’ve had to overcome many emotional obstacles along the way to get to this point and attempting to self-publish a book does tend to make a person feel like they’ve thrown themselves in at the deep end of the pool. Here’s hoping some of you actually like what I write and save me from drowning in the deep end as I probably forgot to mention, I can’t swim.
