Fighting Fate
A Redwood Pack Novel, Book 7
Release Date: June 10, 2014
GUEST POST ~ Carrie Ann Ryan
I write strong heroines. I don’t know how to write another type. The fact that the word heroine means strong in a sense, I don’t even need to use the phrase ‘strong heroine’ to begin with. I love the fact that my female characters stand up for themselves even if it hurts. They fight against those would hurt those they love and fight for what is theirs.
Cailin is the youngest Jamenson in her generation and the only daughter of the Alpha of the Redwood Pack. She’s one of my strongest characters. Ever.
She’s forced to sacrifice something she never thought she’d be forced to and her mate, Logan, fights alongside her.
I love the fact that no matter what the world throws at her, she keeps on coming. She’ll cry if she feels like it, scream and throw things if it matters, or pull into herself and remain stoic if that’s what needed. She won’t back down to a very dominant and Alpha mate just because Logan is what others think is good for her—even if she knows they’re perfect for one another.
I write strong heroines because I love them. What about you? What’s your favorite characteristic of a heroine?

BLURB:
With her blue-black hair and striking green eyes, Cailin Jamenson is the epitome of beauty and the exemplar of strength.
She has fought the enforced boundaries of being the lone Jamenson daughter and Redwood Pack princess, but it is the potential future with the dark wolf in her path that threatens everything she thought she desired.
Logan Anderson’s own darkness provided the reasoning for his abandonment of his former Pack, the Talons.
Now, newly accepted into the Redwood Pack, this jade-eyed wolf and all she represents could be his own undoing.
In this final installment of the Redwood Pack, unimaginable tragedy strikes, and the two wolves who have fought the longest for their independence now face the uncertainty of fate and the epic battle that could end the war… and their lives.

EXCERPT:
She knew what the others saw when they looked at her, the raven-black hair, the light green eyes. So many others had told her she was one of the most beautiful people they’d ever seen. What a load of crap. Even if they weren’t just saying that because of who she was, she wouldn’t take it at face value. She’d seen true beauty in the selfless acts of her sisters and friends. They were the beautiful ones. Cailin usually responded to those who spoke only of her looks that they hadn’t seen that many people. Most didn’t see beyond the surface, beyond the blood in her veins.
Someone murmured something behind her, and she blinked, forcing her attention to what was going on in front of her rather than wallowing in the shames she should have buried. Shames that weren’t really shames at all, not in the grand scheme of things. She’d always tried to be so strong for others, and in turn, hadn’t treated those she now loved with the respect they deserved. She’d tried to fix that over time, but she wasn’t sure she was worth it. Others worried so much for her and her safety, she knew they weren’t taking care of themselves like they should. She needed to stop acting so self-centered, so hurt and broken when it was her own doing.
USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.
Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.

BLP ~ MY REVIEW:
I went into Fighting Fate with mixed emotions. On one hand I couldn’t wait to start and was so looking forward to at last reading Cailin and Logan’s story but this was overshadowed by the fact that this is the final instalment in the Redwood Pack series and I didn’t want the story to end…..
Carrie didn’t disappoint and she finished the series with a bang…. Fighting Fate is a fantastic read and an excellent way to say goodbye to this generation of Jamensons.
Cailin & Logan have been dancing round each other, doing everything they could to avoid facing the obvious attraction between them… Will they finally deal with their feelings and the connection that they seem to have?!
The war that has been raging around the Redwoods is nearing it’s climax and everyone knows it – they just don’t know what to expect or how things are gonna turn out!!!
So much to deal with and so little time to prepare….
One of the main things I loved about the book was the continued focus on the Jamensons as a family as well as pack… We are reminded again of how important they are to each other and how they would do all and anything they had to for each other!!!
Action, drama, tension, surprises, heat & passion, pain & heartbreak, it’s all packed into this final book and makes for a heart-racing (jeez, at times a nigh on heart-stopping!!) ride!
Grab yourself a copy of Fighting Fate, take yourself off somewhere quiet – ‘cos you won’t want to be disturbed once you start reading – and lose yourself in the final instalment of the Redwood Pack’s story!!
** A word of warning before you do start reading ~ you’re gonna need tissues… lots & lots of tissues – and maybe take the next day off work to avoid people seeing your big red puffy eyes…or you could wear some dark glasses – just sayin’!! 😉
**I received an advanced copy of Fighting Fate from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review**

About the Author:
I’ve been writing seriously for about nine years. My first book, a novella,, was published in April of 2009 and since then, I’ve had several more published. To my great pleasure, many readers have responded positively to these books. I write in a variety of genres so I’m sure there’s one that will please you. Can you just imagine how pleased I am to know I’m making readers happy with the yarns I spin in my head . . .
The first writers’ group I joined was a local mixed group (all genres – all ages). They took turns reading aloud and critiquing each others’ work once a week. Although I know how to spell the words
I write, I find it difficult to voice them. Therefore I saw no future with that group, since I found it impossible to admit what I wrote, let alone, shock the life out of a group of white haired memoir writers. So I moved on – took online classes, college classes, and in 2006 I attended my first RWA National Conference and never looked back. I’m a member of RWA, my local chapter – TARA, several online groups. My secret passion is poetry, and my secret identity isn’t as secret as I’d like to believe.
You can usually find me at one of several of my favorite places . . . most often my blog, Eliza Writes sizzling hot romance http://elizamarch.blogspot.com – FACEBOOK – TWITTER – GOODREADS – I also guest blog with fellow authors.
Something else you should know about me is I love hearing from my readers.

BLP ~ My Review
Rating: 5 of 5 stars
I have to be honest and say usually I’m not a huge fan of historical style reads…. but I loved the telling of Dylan’s story in
Conquer The Highland Beast. I really wasn’t expecting it to be as emotional and enthralling as it was!!
Eliza pulls you into the story fairly slowly – it starts out in the current day – After an evening of demon hunting, Dylan and Max head to a bar and the big Scotsman begins telling Max a little about his history (he’s trying to help Max understand what he himself is going through after all that happened to him in Defeat the Darkness)and all of a sudden you find you are totally immersed in Dylan’s tale…
The heroine, Caitlyn, is a great match for Dylan – they both feel a pull but will they surrender to it or, given both their histories, fight the obvious connection they have?!?!
This book has it all. Demons, vampires, shifters & witches; action, adventure and heart-break; violence & vengence, passion, heat & of course smokin’ hot sexy times…..
This is a great series and one I have no hesitation in recommending. I’m so looking forward to book #3 – Damn the Darkness!
