WALK ON THE STRIPED SIDE
JESSIE LANE
“Does he have his claws in her for good? Or is she just yanking his tail?
Elena Demos’s life has been turned upside down. Her mother has passed away, leaving Elena and her two half-sisters to deal with their mother’s will and the crazy stipulations it contains. For the three sisters to inherit the substantial amount of money left behind, they have to go to work with two aunts they’ve never met, in the family business they’ve known nothing about, Amazons Inc. If that isn’t bad enough, she runs into the man who once broke her heart, and it’s only their first day on the job.
Gage Ivanov is a stupid beast. He let the woman who should be his mate go because she couldn’t be told of his Other identity. Now, Elena’s back, but she refuses to give in to his demands for her to be his mate. The timing for all of this couldn’t be worse, either, because Gage and his circle of friends are trying to subdue a rogue pack of wolf shifters in Germany who threaten to out the Others to the world of humans. Will he be able to juggle the oncoming conflict and win back his mate?”
Claws have never been this sexy.

MY REVIEW
I read a preview of a book called Big Bad Bite just by chance about a month ago, it intrigued me so I one clicked. I really enjoyed it and I loved Adam and Jenna but will confess when Gage and Alec came onto the scene I wanted Jenna to be with one of them – what can I say, I’m a sucker for tiger shifters who are tall , built and hawt!
‘Walk On The Striped Side’ is Gage and Elena’s story ~ it’s well written & full of humour and I laughed out loud many times no matter where I was (cue the strange looks in my direction!!! )
Jessie Lane gives us a funny hot alpha male, a sassy strong slightly psychotic heroine and a back-up cast of characters that are phenomenal. Who couldn’t love Chloe and her addictions ~ hey, we’d all fight for our Jimmy Choos!!! ~ man-whore Alec whose hotness factor is just growing and growing, Babushka with her complete annihilation of the english language (batter of baby made me howl) and the spider, I have no words for that poor spider.
Throw in flame throwers, guns, catnip and toys and you have a really funny book with every ingredient you need for a few hours of total easy enjoyment. I am looking forward to the next book ‘The Demon Who Loved Me’ and i just know there will be sparks a-flying between Chloe and Kent………….

Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.

Thompson & Sons, Book 2
‘What the mind forgets, the heart remembers’
BLURB:
Since the moment Katy Thompson transformed from annoying tagalong to desirable woman, Gage Jenick has awaited his chance. When she kicks her boyfriend to the curb, he doesn’t hold back—in spite of the next day work assignment that will take him completely off the grid for two long months.
After a head injury sustained on a storm-swept road, Katy can’t remember her own email password, much less how the little pink “positive” on the pregnancy stick got there. Barring an influx of midichlorians, she’s at a loss to explain what happened, or when…or with whom.
Suddenly Gage is back in her life as if he has a right to be there. While she vividly remembers the crush she had on him, she’s no one’s charity case. But another thing she’d forgotten was just how stubborn Gage can be—especially when her domineering ex tries to stake a claim…
Warning: An unforgettable night that gets forgotten. A crazy redneck ex, and a hero who’s ready to take on the world, and his past, for his heroine.
Read an Excerpt
Chapter One
September, Rocky Mountain House
If any place was the epitome of a laid-back, good ol’ boys, redneck tavern, Traders Pub fit the bill. Country music blared over the speakers encouraging those out for the start of the weekend to kick up their heels and let loose.
Familiar sights, all too familiar sounds.
Even more familiar was the ache in Gage Jenick’s gut as Katy Thompson shimmied past, her trim body clad in nothing fancier than a pair of jeans and a western shirt, but he was still damn near drooling.
He deliberately turned his chair away and picked up his beer, the Alberta equivalent of an ostrich burying its head in the sand.
If he didn’t look, she wasn’t really there.
Wasn’t really there, in spite of the sweet apple-blossom scent clinging to her skin that wafted over, like it did during the day while they worked together at her family’s garage. How many times in the past six months had he been in the middle of welding repairs or lugging tires from one rack to another, and found his mouth watering? His head turning involuntarily as she sashayed across the wide concrete space with a question regarding billing or a parts order for one of her brothers working the floor.
He hadn’t always had a hard-on for his best friend’s little sis. For years she’d been Katybug—the tagalong annoyance he’d tolerated for Clay’s sake, and later for the sake of the baking they’d snitch from the kitchen she’d taken possession of when her mom had passed away.
It was like a switch flipped. One day she was this invisible creature, and the next?
He could still vividly picture it—months earlier when he’d stopped work for the day. He’d rounded a corner at the garage in time to see a hose burst on her.
Water sprayed everywhere as she’d struggled to catch the flailing end.
“What the hell?” Gage rushed toward Katy who stood laughing, the broken hose writhing as if it were alive. It only took a minute for him to shut off the water at the source, but that was long enough to end with them both drenched to the skin.
“Sorry, Gage.” Katy hiccupped, she was laughing so hard. “Oh, Lord that was fun. Good thing it’s a warm day, right?”
He turned to deliver some timely big-brother-like, smart-ass comment, and got slammed with an eye-opening lightning bolt.
Her shirt was plastered to her, revealing more than any trip to the lake or swimming hole ever had, and to his utter shock, Katybug had hips and breasts.
And nipples.
Nipples he could clearly see pressed to the front of her soaking wet T-shirt because she didn’t appear to be wearing a bra.
“I told Clay that hose needed replacing,” she complained. “But, no. He insisted it could last one more summer. Ha.”
She leaned over and dragged her hair into a bunch, squeezing out the extra moisture. God help him. His gaze dropped to her ass, the rounded curves beckoning him forward to grab hold and take a long, thorough, exploratory detour over this brand-new Katy.
His wet clothes weren’t cold enough to deter his dick from waking up. And the rest of him as well.
He hadn’t been looking for romance—he’d long ago sworn off connecting with anyone full-time in a forever kind of way. The last thing he needed was someone like Katy in his life.
He had to stay in control. Had promised himself to never hold too tight to anything, or anyone. Yet in that moment he wanted little Katy Thompson with something near to obsession, and that truth rocked him to his core.
She finally clued in that he hadn’t said a word. She straightened, and, oh my God, those breasts— “You okay, Gage?”
No, but that wasn’t an acceptable answer. He dragged his gaze from her off-limits body and mumbled something.
His brain had been mumbling ever since.
Somehow he’d kept his growing hunger hidden from her, and her brothers, which was a miracle. And his best friend?
Gage glanced across the table at Clay Thompson. At his best friend’s hands that would curl into fists the size of hams at the thought of anyone hurting his baby sister. They might go back a long ways, but Gage knew the truth.
When it came to Katy, none of the Thompson boys would hesitate for a second to knock the head off anyone who so much as breathed wrong in her direction. Then they would calmly bury the remains in their backyard. Not even he would get a reprieve.
Good thing he planned on never hurting her.
Enough time had passed that he’d come to admit he’d like to get involved with Katy. The idea still scared him to death, but maybe with the constant threat of Clay and the rest of the hulking crew keeping him in check, he could avoid becoming what he feared. If the opportunity presented itself.
You’re not your past…
Laughter from the dance floor roused him, and he blinked in surprise. In spite of his good intentions, he was staring at her, soaking in every second he could of her spark of sweet, dark happiness. She was dancing with a group of her girlfriends, the four of them ignoring the guys hovering nearby in the hopes of a dance, or a grope, or maybe something more.
At least she wasn’t with him. The shithead boyfriend, Simon.
A hard nudge into his shoulder made his entire body shake, and he braced his beer to keep it from spilling.
Clay grinned. “You’re daydreaming. So eager to get out of town you can’t stay awake at your own going-away party?”
Gage laughed. “Is that what this is? I thought this was a typical Friday night at Traders.”
“Didn’t you get the announcement?” Clay lifted the pitcher of beer in the air and offered to refill Gage’s mug. “I’d get you drunk, but you probably wouldn’t appreciate the long drive ahead of you with a hangover.”
They fell back into a comfortable silence for a couple minutes. Clay passed the pitcher to the other Thompson boys and their friends who’d joined them.
Gage took the opportunity to examine the room. So many people he’d spent time with over the past years. He was going to miss them while he did his stint in the north working in the oilfields, but the money was too good to turn down.
And the chance to be away from temptation. Because, damn if he hadn’t automatically searched her out yet again.
Clay spoke, dragging Gage’s attention off the dance floor and back to safer topics. “What time are you leaving tomorrow?” he asked.
“Around ten. I don’t start until Monday, so I figured I’ll drive Saturday and get set up Sunday.” Gage chuckled at the expression on his friend’s face. “Stop looking as if I’m running away to join the circus. I’ll be back in six months.”
His friend grumbled. “I know, but we’ll miss you around the garage. Good slave labour is hard to find. Heck, I’d even hired someone to replace you, and not even a month later Cassidy’s gone and quit. I hate working harder.”
“Can’t blame the man. He’s got a sweet deal with his new family.” Gage took in the Coleman family gathered in another corner of the pub, some of the members partnered up, some not. The man in question, Cassidy, was slow dancing with Ashley, one of his lovers. Cassidy’s other partner, Travis, looked on from the side as he chatted with his brothers.
The trio’s relationship wasn’t typical, but it had happened, and in a way, Gage was a little jealous. Cassidy had gotten what he’d wanted and then some. In the meantime, Gage wasn’t willing to rock the boat to grasp the one woman he’d been lusting after.
Running away to the north was safer for so many reasons.
Katy lifted her hands in the air, swaying from side to side to the slow music. Her best friend Janey spun her, and wholesome, happy laughter rang, something Gage loved to hear.
Although he wished he’d been the one putting that kind of smile on her face. Bringing that shine to her dark brown eyes.
One thing was missing…one good subtraction to the evening. “Where’s Simon?”
An enormous grin twisted Clay’s lips. “Katy dumped him.”
Gage’s jaw hit the table.
“I know, I’m so fucking glad.” Clay spoke as softly as he could and still be heard over the loud dance music. “You have no idea how hard it was not to tell him to get the hell away from her, but she gave me such grief the last time I scared off a boyfriend…”
Gage nodded. “I remember. It wasn’t pretty. In fact,” he taunted, “you were damn scared, for someone who outweighs her by a good hundred pounds. I thought she was going to kick your ass into the next county.”
“It’s not the size of the package, it’s the pressure. She might be a tiny thing, and she’s so quiet most of the time, but when that girl loses it? Me and the boys wear a cup when she’s pissed.”
“So…you mentioned Simon,” Gage prompted. Because that was the most important bit of information here. When he’d finally woken up and figured out Katy was far more than a little-sister figure, she’d already been seeing that dickwad Simon, and if the woman had been pissed about her brothers micromanaging her life, she certainly wasn’t going to be any happier to have a friend of the family butting in. “They’ve been an item for the past six months.”
“She broke up with him last Saturday after the community picnic.” Clay gave him a look. “You know, the day you punched in his face?”
Gage shoved down his rising excitement at the fact Katy was once again a free agent. Instead he focused on the joys of small-town living, where everyone knew everything about everyone, which in this case explained a lot, including covering his tracks.
He’d had a good reason to punch Simon, but he’d also enjoyed the hell out of it for his own personal reasons, i.e., the ass was getting to fool around with his Katy. “The jerk was being a homophobic asshole.”
Clay shrugged. “I’m not saying you were wrong. Katy saw the light that day as well and told him to—in her own words—crawl into a hole and rot.” Clay nodded in obvious agreement with the sentiment. “I’m glad she came to her senses.”
Gage’s excitement shot sky-high. This was his chance. Katy was free? Other than the bad news of him leaving the next damn day… “Clay, I’ve been meaning to ask you something.”
His friend pulled out his phone and stared at the message on the screen. “That’s your ‘I need a favour’ voice.”
Busted. “Not so much a favour as…well, I was wondering about Katy, and—”
“Damn,” Clay cut in. “Yeah, can you take care of her?”
Gage jolted back. “What?”
“I just got a call for the tow truck, and I’ve got to take it.” Clay rose to his feet then leaned over to make sure no one overheard. “Look, Katy put her car in the garage for me to do a service checkup. I didn’t get a chance to look at it yet so I offered to drive tonight and be her DD. Now I have to bail, so could you give her a ride home?”
It was like being handed the keys to paradise and told not to unlock the gate. Gage nodded. “I’ll get her home safe.”
He might go to hell along the way, but it would be worth it.
Gage was watching her.
Katy allowed the hope inside to rise. Every time she’d checked, his gaze had been pinned on her body. Her hips, her chest—and it wasn’t creepy as if he were some kind of stalker. And it wasn’t whacko or possessive like her now-ex-boyfriend Simon had been for the last month or so.
Nope, what she saw was all-out admiration, especially since she was watching his reflection in the mirror, and he had no idea she knew what he was doing.
Her best friend caught her hand and tugged her closer. “You want a drink?” Janey asked.
“Sure.” Katy took one final peek to reassure herself even as she tried to figure out the best way to make a move.
Because the crush she’d had on the man had been going on far, far too long. Since she’d been in her teens. Clay had dragged the new kid home after school years earlier, so when her hormones had woken up, he’d already been firmly underfoot. Gage was one of the never-ending kids fostered by the friendly couple down the block, but he’d been the only one to walk through the Thompson doors and never really leave.
Janey headed straight for the Thompson table—which Katy should have expected. “Hi, Len.”
Katy’s third oldest brother blinked in surprise as Janey interrupted his conversation. Not only that, she grabbed a chair and basically shoved her way between the guys, settling in like she belonged.
Katy twisted away to hide her smile. Janey wasn’t afraid of going after what she wanted, which in this case was Len.
A strong hand caught her arm and tugged her out of the path of a waitress carrying a loaded tray through the bar. “Sit down, Katy,” Gage ordered, adjusting the chair next to him. The one Clay had been occupying.
She frowned, but obeyed. “Where’s Clay?”
“Tow-truck callout.”
“Great. How am I supposed to get home?”
Gage shifted in his chair. “I’ll take you.”
Her heart skipped a beat then rolled across the floor. He sounded more pissed than thrilled at that option. “It’s okay, I’m pretty sure I can find someone else to—”
“No,” Gage snapped, his dark eyes meeting hers. The square cut of his jawline held tight. He touched her again, his fingers slowly skimming down her arm. A deliberate caress that made goose bumps rise, especially as this time his voice softened to stroke her as well. “I have no problem taking you home.”
Katy swallowed hard. Not only his fingers but his words slipped over her like an erotic touch. He wasn’t hiding his admiration anymore—what she’d seen in the mirror was right out in the open, and sweet mercy…
His lips twisted into a smile. “I hear you and Simon called it quits.”
“He’s a pig.” She spoke without thinking, but all Gage did in response was grin harder. Her mouth was dry. “I need a drink.”
They reached for the same glass, and their fingers bumped, his big hand nearly eclipsing hers as he closed his grip and teasingly helped lower the glass to the table in front of her.
“Beer? Or something else?” he asked.
“Coke.”
Katy waited until he released her, but his touch had already started an electric tingle that raced from her fingertips all the way up her arm and a whole lot farther. It affected her breathing, that was for sure, and she couldn’t seem to take anything more than shallow gasps.
He filled her glass from a pitcher.
“Thanks.”
“No problem.”
She lifted her glass in the hopes it would cool the heat that had enveloped her, but suddenly she wasn’t sure she could swallow. His gaze was pinned to her lips. He’d leaned in, one hand casually resting on the back of her chair as if she were in his embrace. Around them the music continued to blast, voices rose and fell. Laughter and shouting.
The room could have been empty.
The sweet liquid stole down her throat, ice cubes bumping her lips as she stared over the rim of the glass. He adjusted position and their thighs touched. She jerked the glass back to vertical before she dropped it altogether.
Heat from his leg wrapped over hers. It took everything in her to stop from squirming in her chair to ease the pressure building inside as Gage continued to look her over as if she were the feature steak on the barbeque menu.
“I’m not drunk,” she whispered.
He shifted, his leg rubbing hers, and her breath caught in her throat. “Never said you were.”
“I should be drunk,” she clarified. “Because that would explain why you’re looking at me like that.”
Gage eased off, glancing around the room. “How am I looking at you?”
“Like you want…” She picked up her glass and sniffed it to see if she’d accidentally gotten a double shot of rum in her coke. Anything that would explain what was going on. That would explain how this thing she’d dreamed about was really happening.
A hand settled on her thigh under the table, and she snapped to attention. Gage leaned in, turning his head at the last moment so his lips were directly next to her ear. “You’re not drunk. Nether am I.”
Oh, sweet Lord. She ignored him. Ignored the large palm that covered her thigh. Ignored the lust racing through her veins, and all the happy hormones that were waving pom-poms. She took another sip of her drink while he settled back in his chair, opening some distance between them.
“Katy, let’s dance.” Janey had her by the hand and pulled her to her feet, headed back to the floor before Katy could protest that she’d been having a lovely hallucination and she’d take a rain check on the dancing.
Only Gage didn’t stop watching her. Didn’t take his gaze off her, and now Katy wasn’t getting sweaty on the dance floor because she was shaking her bootie hard.
It was all about Gage Jenick and his hungry eyes.
She glanced at her watch and wondered how early she could call it a night because she could hardly wait for him to take her home.

‘BABY, BE MINE’ ~ MY REVIEW
Having already read book #1 in the ‘Thompson & Sons’ series in the ‘MARKED‘ anthology as well as being fairly new to Vivian Arend‘s work and keen to read more I was delighted when I was offered the chance to read an ARC of book 2 in the series..
‘Baby, Be Mine‘ was a really good read. The story begins before book 1 and then runs along the same timeline. It flowed really well (a couple of things that happened in book 1 were woven into Katy & Gage’s book but weren’t too obvious and it was fun to figure them out!!)
The only thing I would say is that I’d have liked a little bit more on the reasons behind Katy’s ex’s behaviour – I have an idea as to why he acted as he did but would have liked to have it explained….
I felt for both main characters – they were frustrated but for different reason and I understood where both were coming from. The impact of Katy’s accident & Gage’s time away – and subsequent lack of knowledge as to what had happened – all looked like it was gonna work against the couple just as it seemed that they’d gotten together at last!!!
The supporting characters were all likeable – with the exception of that bugger Simon – and we also met up with some of the folks from Viv’s ‘Six Pack Ranch’ series.
I found the story a lot sweeter than I expected after reading Mitch’s book…. Gage’s actions being tempered a lot mainly because of the issues the Katy was working through… There was an obvious attraction & chemistry between the lead characters but unlike book 1 there wasn’t a lot of sexy situations – though what there was made good reading – this didn’t in any way detract from the story for me.
The Thompson family is fast becoming a favourite of mine!!!
Baby, Be Mine is a great 4* read in my opinion and I’m looking forward to lots more to come in the series!!!
**I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review**

Can they find a way to work together and make their cougar purr?
Author Bio:
Hello, my name is Eve. I’m a stay at home mom who writes full time in between juggling my three kids, hubby and housework, I write really raunchy stuff–usually with werewolves lol. I was born in British Columbia, but being a military brat, I have lived a little bit everywhere – Quebec, New Brunswick, Labrador, Virginia (USA) and finally Ontario. My family and I currently live just outside Ottawa, our nation’s capital.
I am the first person to admit I am totally boring and lead a mundane life. Seriously. My idea of fun is shopping at our local Walmart lol. I like to play video games, cook, and read. My inspiration, hmm, I guess you could say hubby as he is a total alpha male which means I often want to club him over head with a frying pan. But, despite his ornery, ‘I-am-man’ nature, I love him dearly.
I’m writing romance, my way. I do have a twisted imagination and a sarcastic sense of humor something I like to let loose in my writing. I like strong alpha males, naked chests and werewolves. Lots of werewolves. In fact, you’ll notice most of my multi partner stories revolve around great, big, overprotective Lycans who just want to please their woman. I am also extremely partial to aliens, you know the kind who abduct their woman and then drive them insane…with pleasure of course.
My heroines, they kind of run the gamut. I have some that are shy and soft spoken, others that will kick a man in the balls and laugh. Many of them are chubby, because in my world, girls with curves ROCK! Oh and some of my heroines are a teeny tiny bit evil, but in their defense, they need love too.
Some of my work does push boundaries and cross lines. Good and evil aren’t always clear in my tales, and in some cases, I’ve stomped on well known religious ideologies. Have I mentioned my imagination is a tad bit warped?
I tend to have a lot of sexual tension in my tales because I think all torrid love affairs start with a tingle in our tummies. And when my characters do finally give in to the needs of their flesh? Well, let’s just say, you shouldn’t be reading my stuff at work. The door is wide open, explicit and hot. Really, really hot.
I love to write, and while I don’t always know what my mind is going to come up with next, I can promise it will be fun, probably humorous and most of all romantic, because I love a happily ever after.

BLP ~ MY REVIEW
Eve Langlais really knows how to write hot, fun books!
Freakn’ Cougar was another fantastic read from one of my favourite authors. Read it in one sitting – it was so good I couldn’t put it down!
An older female lead and 2 very different love interests – both of whom turn her inside out!!
Being a slightly older gal myself, it was really good to read about a relationship featuring an older women.
As ever there was a great action packed plot, lots of humour, tons of heat and a very sexy ménage!!!
Eve’s books are a must buy for me and I can’t wait for her next release!!!

BLP ~ MY REVIEW
I LOVED Rising From The Ashes….I finished the book at 6:00 this morning – just couldn’t put it down!!!
After meeting Savvy in book #1 in the series I couldn’t wait to read her story and find out what the history between her and Jeremy was….
I was taken by them both from the start. I’m a big fan of dual POVs and this gave us a great insight to both characters….
When we first came across Savannah she was the supportive, strong, funny & smart mouthed friend of the group but we soon discover in ‘Rising’ that there’s a lot more to her than meets the eye.
We hadn’t seen much of Jeremy in PUTP so we didn’t know much about him or why he and Savannah weren’t together…. just that there still seemed to be something between them.
Secrets and heartbreak have kept this pair apart for 7 years – they still love each other but could they ever overcome what had happened and get back together?!
‘Rising’ had me laughing & crying in equal measures. Savvy’s stubbornness annoyed me at times (I just wanted her to stop being so hard on herself). Jeremy’s determination was endearing but he did a couple of things that ticked me off – saying that, it never stopped me from rooting for them!!!
Once again, we had the supporting cast made up of all of their friends with the introduction of a couple of new faces that I’m looking forward to reading & finding out more about.
I can’t wait to see who’s next up – am hoping it’s Trevor & Lizzy!!!
Rising From The Ashes is another well written, captivating story from Jessica and I loved every twist and turn it had me on!!!

BEX ~ MY REVIEW
Every so often while trawling on Amazon or in book groups for new reads you are occasionally lucky enough to find that unexpected little gem, a particular book / author you know is going to be good, this is how I felt after discovering ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ by Jessica Prince, her debut novel. I really enjoyed it and like many loved Sassy Savannah a supporting cast member so I was excited to read her story ‘Rising From The Ashes’. Oh Boy did it not disappoint, I adored it ………
Sassy Savannah was an incredibly fabulous, strong, loyal and smart mouthed character in the first book and I wondered where the author would take her on this journey. I laughed out loud, suffered with her, shouted at my kindle and sat looking at the page in disbelief at points.
Jeremy we didn’t get to know very well before and I’m so glad he got his own story with Savannah . He drove me demented at points but if a book can give you strong reactions and an emotional rollarcoaster it’s doing its job.
So if you love a good story that shows life in a real way with all its flaws, that is about relationships both with friends and lovers, with witty banter, humour and affection in spades then give this one a try. It`s warm and memorable leaving you with a smile long after you’ve finished.

“Lilah Tanner thought she’d finagled time on a private island for her own purposes — to take a break from her dull, complacent life. She’s a hard worker, a physical therapist, with a successful career but an unhappy love life. Not sure if it’s due to her plain features or take-charge personality, she nevertheless wants more out of life than she has. So she does her cousin a favor and agrees to keep some rich playboy out of trouble on a tropical island. How hard can that be?
The danger around Rick Hastings is far more than she bargained for.
There’s a stalker her cousin failed to mention, the threat of real harm from a hidden, outside source. But more than that, Lilah’s bombarded with the reality of Rick Hastings and Trevor Reaper, two men too sexual for her own good. Because it isn’t long before Lilah is tempted, seduced, and in love. And it will take all her courage to face her own insecurities and help Trevor and Rick face theirs in order to keep the men who’ve won her heart.”

Claimed by a Demon King (Eternal Mates Romance Series Book 2)
Felicity Heaton
The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her—not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.
Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts—vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom’s brash, lethally seductive demon king—a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.
As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?
Claimed by a Demon King is available from Amazon Kindle, Kobo Books, Barnes and Noble Nook, Apple iBooks stores and other retailers. Also available in paperback. Find the links to your preferred retailer at: http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/cbadk
Claimed by a Demon King – Excerpt
Sable left her room, went to the next one and opened the door. Olivia shrieked. Loren bit out a few nasty-sounding words in the elf language.
Sable covered her eyes and scrubbed the image of Loren playing tonsil tennis with Olivia while mostly naked from her mind.
“Sorry,” she muttered to the wooden floorboards. “Are you decent yet?”
“Knock next time,” Olivia snapped.
“In my defence, you’ve been alone for all of three minutes. I didn’t think you could make the leap from room orientation to sex in three minutes!” Rabbits. No. They were worse than bunnies. If Sable took her eyes off them for five seconds, they were kissing like teenagers.
Loren continued to growl dark-sounding things. She presumed they weren’t complimentary and were about her because he was firmly sticking to his own language. He still refused to share knowledge of the elf language with Archangel and she supposed she could understand his reluctance. No one other than the elves could understand or speak it. It was probably handy being able to speak a language your enemy couldn’t.
“Decent?” Sable asked in a small voice, fearing the elf prince was going to start directing more than insults at her.
“Yes,” Olivia answered and Sable came out from behind her hand.
Their love-nest looked much like her room, but with the layout reversed, so the bed was to her left and the fireplace to her right. She looked at the dressing table near the fireplace and idly said, “You don’t have a mirror.”
“You have a mirror?” Olivia looked as if Sable had just announced she had cable and a fifty-inch home cinema system.
Sable shrugged.
“Well… now we know for certain who the king’s favourite is.”
She glared daggers at her friend, and then at Loren when his sensual lips tugged into a teasing smile.
“Ha-ha. Drop it already.” Sable closed the door behind her and waited for them to look a little more serious before she continued. She decided she was going to have to wait a while.
Loren wrapped his arms around Olivia and stroked her cheek, smiling down into her eyes, looking like a lovesick fool for her friend. Olivia looked just as ridiculously sappy as she gazed up at her prince and rose on her tiptoes. Sable shifted her focus to the fireplace before she caught another eyeful of them locking lips.
Her chest ached and she ignored it.
It grew impossible when Olivia whispered sweet things to Loren and Sable found herself envying her friend.
Again.
Maybe she should have taken the time to try on a relationship for size. It did look sort of nice sometimes. Loren fussed over Olivia and Olivia did the same to him. They always had each other’s backs too. And she had never seen her friend so happy.
She scratched her neck and stared into the fire, listening to their murmured conversation and the demons stomping down the hall outside the door. They didn’t keep their voices low. Whatever they were discussing, it had them excited. Were they talking about the feast?
Sable closed her eyes and focused on her natural gift to sense non-humans. Their signatures came back strongly, far stronger than she had ever experienced. She could feel their excitement and the buzz running through the castle. It seeped into her as if it was her own, stirring her blood and sending a tremble of anticipation through her. She reached further, pushing herself, stretching down to the next level, seeking one strong heartbeat amidst the cacophony.
“Sable?” Olivia said, drawing her away from her pursuit of Thorne and back to the room. “You okay?”
Sable nodded. “Just fine tuning.”
Concern warmed Olivia’s dark brown eyes. Before her friend could go doctor on her and start asking about whether her gift was bothering her or if she had any problems with it, Sable smiled and shrugged it off.
More male voices boomed in the hallway. Talking about the feast? She had tried to learn a little of the demon tongue from Bleu but it was tricky. All she had mastered was how to greet someone depending on their status in your opinion, which mostly boiled down to various levels of insults.
“Are you sure you’re okay?” Olivia asked and Sable nodded again.
“Just thinking about tonight.” Before Olivia could leap in with some ridiculous mention of Thorne, Sable added, “This whole feast thing has me a little jittery. I guess first times are always like that.”
“I have to admit, I haven’t a clue what to expect.” Olivia smiled at her and swept her wavy chestnut hair from her face, hooking it behind her ears. It was strange seeing Olivia in jeans and a black baby-doll t-shirt. She was so used to seeing her friend in her white coat with her hair pinned in a bun, looking all neat and authoritative.
Loren pulled some clothes out of thin air and Sable was never getting used to that. He could teleport whatever belonged to him from anywhere in the world, both this one and her one. He held the long elegant black jacket up and the rich elaborately detailed purple embroidery shone in the firelight.
“You are wondering what food they eat,” he said in passing and picked some fluff off the jacket before laying it down over the back of one of the armchairs and pulling a pair of trousers out of the air.
Sable gaped. “Do you read minds now?”
“No, but it was on both of your faces.” Loren flicked her a smile and he was charming.
Were there any ugly elves in their world? All of the ones she had met were beautiful, when their temper was in check.
When they slipped into a rage, it was a whole different matter.
She had caught Bleu in a very painful place a few times during their sparring and he always turned on her, his eyes flashing bright purple and his pointed ears flattening against the sides of his head as he hissed at her, exposing large sharp fangs.
“Demons prefer meats, but I am certain there will also be vegetables and perhaps other foods on offer, such as berries and cheeses.” He paused to lay his trousers down over his jacket and his black eyebrows drew down above his crystal violet eyes. “Although, I do recommend avoiding the cheeses. Many of the animals they milk are not the same as the ones mortals would choose.”
Sable didn’t want to ask, not even to assuage her curiosity.
Loren pulled an elegant long dark purple dress out of the air and Sable could no longer hide her worry about the feast.
“Is there a dress code for tonight?” She looked at the beautiful gown and then Loren’s fine clothing resting over the chair.
She hadn’t brought anything for this sort of situation and she doubted her team had either. All of her clothes were fit for battle and nothing else. Even if she had known in advance about the feast, it wouldn’t have helped. She didn’t own anything as fine as the dress Loren held. She didn’t own a dress period.
“I really don’t want to offend Thorne,” she ignored the teasing look Olivia slid her way, “but I know all of my team brought only battle clothes with them.”
“That will not be a problem.” Loren laid the dress down on top of his clothing and turned to her. “You represent your team so only you will be seated at the main table with the other commanding officers. Thorne will not mind if your subordinates are dressed plainly.”
In other words, he would mind if she was.
Sable refused to panic about this. “Maybe there’s a demon female I can borrow a dress from.”
“That won’t be possible,” Olivia said, snatching her focus. “There are no demon females.”
She gasped. “Who were those women then?”
“Witches… a vampire or two. I believe there was even a shifter amongst them,” Loren replied and Sable’s gaze darted back to him.
“Demons don’t have females?” How had she not known that?
“No,” Olivia said for him and why hadn’t her friend told her about this? “The Devil put some sort of curse on seven demon species when they seized these lands to make their own realms… I guess he was pissed because he wiped out all the women and made it so the men would have to seek out their fated one. Now, demons can only mate with their fated females. The kicker is that most of them are mortal… and demons stick out like sore thumbs in our world.”
Mortal.
Sable’s pulse kicked up a notch. “How do they know their female?”
“They dream of her after meeting her.” Loren’s smile turned wicked and she didn’t like the glint in his eyes.
Cold slithered through her even as her cheeks began to heat.
“You’re talking… naughty… dreams.” Could she sound any more innocent and nervous?
He nodded. “Very, very naughty.”
“Loren,” Olivia chided and crossed the room to him. Sable thanked her for backing her up until her friend turned to her, forming an allied front with Loren, her smile just as wicked as his was. “You’re not having naughty dreams of Thorne are you, Sable?”

MY REVIEW:
Claimed by a Demon King is book 2 in the Eternal Mates series from Felicity Heaton. Following on directly from the end of book 1, this is Thorne and Sable’s story and it is as hot & explosive as I expected it to be!!!
Sable is a demon-hunter working for Archangel. Thorne is a Demon and the King of the Third realm in Hell.
(I have to admit that while I love Loren and Olivia from book 1, Sable & Thorne are definitely my faves of the series so far!!!)
The attraction between the 2 leads was evident when they first met in ‘Kissed by a Dark Prince’ and it is still as bright & hot from the get-go in Claimed.
While Sable is aware of the whole Mate issue – having seen & heard of how Loren pursued Olivia – she is closed off to having her own HEA – hell, she isn’t looking for a relationship, never mind a mate – and she does all she can to ignore her attraction to Thorne!
Poor Thorne, he knows that Sable is his fated one and will stop at nothing to win her round. Tough gig he’s been handed there, he’ll need all the luck he can get!!!
When we catch up with Thorne in Claimed he has requested the assistance of Loren and his Elven army as well as a Team from Archangel to help him in the battle against the King of the Fifth Realm and his army. This is just the beginning of an exciting adventure for the characters!!
Most of this book takes place in Hell where the war between the 3rd and 5th Realms – as well as the one in Sable’s heart – continues to pick up pace..
If you remember the guest appearance from a couple of well loved characters in ‘Kissed’ you’ll be more than a tad delighted when you see who pops up in Claimed… (I’m saying no more, you’ll just have to read the book and work it out for yourself!!) 😉
As we have come to expect, Felicity has given us a story that is fast paced, full of action, intrigue & adventure – with a feisty kick-ass heroin & a decidedly determined demon.
Filled with loads of passion, heat & romance as well as a touch of humour Claimed is a brilliant addition to the Eternal Mates series. With the addition of witches (light & dark), werewolves & vampires and the introduction of some new and very interesting characters, we have loads to think about for future books.
Claimed By A Demon King is a solid 5* read for me and I can’t wait for the next instalment!!
I would suggest that you read Kissed By A Dark Prince before you start Claimed though it could be read as a standalone.
