“What are you going to do about it?” I taunt.
He shoves my thighs apart with his knees. “Take you, baby. The way you like.”
The scary thing about it? He does know what I like; already. And I pray he never forgets.

“You’re not scaring me,” I insist. “I’m definitely a go-with-the-flow kind of woman, and I’m down for just about anything. Am I worried you’re going to wake up and realize you’ve completely destructed your whole belief system based on a few nights with me?” I shrug, pulling a piece of my hair through my fingers. “Yeah, but I’ve almost always been the type of person who believes things happen when they’re supposed to. If this is our time, then it is. If it ends? Who knows how I’ll feel, but I’ll ride this wave until it hits the shore, Boone, because that’s who I am.”
He chuckles. “Destructing a whole belief system. That’s definitely one way of putting it. Everyone has always told me; I’d know. When the right woman came along, I’d fall. Fall hard, fall fast, fall with everything in me. Am I ready to tell you I love you? No, not yet, and I don’t know when I will be. The only person I’ve ever loved is my son. I’m not sure I’ll know how to handle it for someone else,” he rolls his lips. “What I can promise you is I’ll try.”
He’s giving me everything, whether he realizes it or not. Everything of him, that he’s able to give. I promise myself I won’t ask for more. Not for me, not for him, and what he’s willing to give will be enough. “That’s all I ask. This is a good time, until it’s more, or until it’s over.”
